| | |  Emma Watson considered for Shark Attack role
In an article by Time, Emma Watson is stated as being considered for the lead role in a film based on the story of Bethany Hamilton, a now 16 year old, homeschooled entrepreneur, who was attacked by a shark in Hawaii while surfing in 2003. Hamilton lost her arm in the attack. The movie is based on Hamilton's autobiography, Soul Surfer.
Emma has not been set in the role. As of right now, she's only being considered. Other candidates for the role include Jamie Lynn Spears.
Filming is set to begin in the fall, which would clash with filming for ' Order of the Phoenix' which isn't due to end until October/November. | |

It would definitely be interesting to see if Emma can lose her British "accent" for the part. But I'm going to hazard a guess and say they'll probably go with Jamie as she looks more like the "surfing girl" type. Though if Emma gets it, I will be very happy, seeing as I am not a big fan of the Spears Family. | |

Emma doesn't look at all like Bethany, she has too curly brown hair for it, Bethany is long straight blonde. oh well, and yes Jamie looks a ton more like Bethany than Emma. i don't really get why they can't use Bethany tho, prolly because in some parts of the movie they'll need someone with 2 arms  | |

That'll be pretty interesting. Not sure I can see her in the role ... but it's a truly inspiring story so, as long as the screenplay is good and they don't try to make it sappy and silly, I can see it being good, no matter who ends up playing Bethany.

Not to be mean,but I would like Jamie Lynn to get it.The girl it happened to was an American,not that that has anything to do with it,but Jamie looks a lot like her more than Emma in my opinion.

She could easily lose the accent with the help of coaches, but I'm not sure if this is a role for Emma. But if she gets it, then congrats to her.
Ha, there's a funny rumor before that mentioned Emma being cast in a Power Rangers movie. OH MERLIN NO. | |

Huh... I don't see why they don't have Bethany play herself. Still, between Jamie and Emma, I can see Jamie as Bethany easier... However, it would totally rock if Emma got the role! It'd be interesting to see her without the accent, though, since I'm so used to it. | |

I will support Emma if she does this movie. It sounds like a very decent film, and very challenging. At least she's not required to go nude or any other sensitive things in this film. I'll be very proud of her decision if she will take this role | |

As much as I think it would be cool to see Emma acting in something different, I don't think it's a good role for her. For some reason, I see her doing something much better. I think the real life Bethany Hamilton is admirable and nice, but I don't find it fitting for Emma to portray. Maybe Jamie or maybe some other young American actress. Well who ever gets the role, good luck!
