Summary:
Educated Fandom

Article:

Thanks to TLC

Go here and see that Henry Jenkins at Technology Review has written a fascinating and very positive article about the educational merit of Harry Potter fan community publications like The Daily Prophet and fan fiction sites such as Fiction Alley and The Sugar Quill. Quote: "Many young fan writers aspire to professional writing careers; many are getting accepted into top colleges and pursuing educational goals that stem from their fan experiences. Fandom is providing a rich haven to support the development of bright young minds that might otherwise get chewed up by the system, and offering mentorship to help less gifted students to achieve their full expressive potential. Either way, these teens are finding something online that schools are not providing them."

SO... Harry Potter is making people into good writers-- in a way! YIPPIE!

I hope a lot of people discover that they love to read/write/draw/learn through Harry Potter. Don't you?
