Eddie Redmayne Roundup: 'Fantastic Beasts' star at Oscars, OMEGA, Razzie awards, more
After the completion of the first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film, star Eddie Redmayne hit the awards circuit the past couple of weeks, before taking a long-needed break from acting in the coming months.
Redmayne of course headed to the 88th annual Academy Awards this Sunday, where he was nominated for Lead Actor in The Danish Girl (though lost out to front runner Leonard DiCaprio - whom Eddie fully supported for the win), and presented Lead Actress to Brie Larson of Room. That can be seen here.
Funnily enough, while Redmayne did not win the Oscar this year, he actually was the recipient of another "award." He received the Worst Actor accolade at this year's Golden Raspberry Awards - or the Razzies, as they're most famously known as.
In this rare instance, Redmayne was fully aware of the win and even jokingly commented on it right before the Oscars. He got the "award" for his performance in Warner Bros.' Jupiter Ascending.

Eddie Redmayne: "I won a Razzie this morning, so I'm leaving L.A. with an award, whatever happens! I did what I thought was a bold performance, but I think it was a bit disastrous."
His quick thoughts on Fantastic Beasts:
Quote:
"It was the most magical, wonderful, exciting experience making it. I hope we've done it justice."
Finally, as global ambassador of the OMEGA watch brand, Redmayne attended and spoke at the Launch of the Globemaster - The World's First Master Chronometer watch in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening. More on that below.
Oscar-winning actor and OMEGA ambassador Eddie Redmayne joined a host of VIP guests at Mack Sennett Studios to celebrate the release of a timepiece many years in the making.
The release of the Globemaster is a proud moment for OMEGA, as it marks the end of a long and challenging journey and the start of a whole new era in watchmaking.
The Master Chronometer testing standards; set by the fiercely independent Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), are the toughest in the industry, comprised of 8 rigorous tests over 10 days. The Globemaster is the first OMEGA timepiece to emerge from this new testing.
Eddie Redmayne, an actor renowned for his bold choice of roles and classic sense of style, is a fan of the Globemaster and the rich heritage of the Swiss watchmaking brand. He wore a Globemaster to the event and spoke about his relationship with OMEGA and his love of quality watches.
“There's a romance to traditional watches - a history. There's something sincere and honest about them, a sort of integrity. I love OMEGA's legacy; watches for the Airforce, the first watch on the moon - it's about storytelling. OMEGA's history is unrivalled"
He also talked touched on how OMEGA's classic take on style eases his experience in the public eye.
“As actors, we attend many events, we are often on the red carpet; wearing something that's classic but also modern, gives me confidence. It's a wonderful thing, because I don't have to overthink it”.
Redmayne will take time off to ready for the birth of his and wife Hannah Bagshawe's first child this June, and has no current acting projects lined up.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, hits theaters and IMAX this November.
