It seems that when Harry gave Dobby the sock in Chamber of Secrets, he helped Dobby out of the series altogether! MTV.com reports that Dobby the House Elf will not be seen in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Toby Jones, the actor who voiced Dobby in CoS gives his opinion on why the part of Dobby was cut :

"I know that the filmmakers have a problem with each new film because the books are getting longer — there's so much to include in them,"
The article also says that Kreacher will be in the film, and notes the possible role of the house elf in the mysterious dissapearance of the locket at Number 12, Grimmauld Place.

At least they're putting in Kreacher. It wouldn't be right without him. And suggesting the RAB thing, that's not right. Even if he was Regulus [which most people think he is] they shouldn't do stuff like that just incase it backfires when 7 comes out.

From now on the books should be divided into more movies, that way the story line wouldn't be compromised. Today we missed Dobby, tomorrow... who knows?

I think that the fact that Winky was left out of GoF was irritating. Dobby was supposed to give Harry the Gillyweed, not Neville. And now they're saying Dobby's not gonna be in OotP. I think I'll get suspended again if I say what's on MY mind concerning these statements.
On a lighter note. I agree that JK wouldn't give away that information concerning who R.A.B. is, even if it IS Regulus Black, by getting Kreacher to steal the locket from the room Harry and Hermione are cleaning at 12 Grimmauld.

It's always the same with the WB! Darn them. I was sooooooooooooo looking forward to Dobby, but noooooooooooo they are going to cut him out, like they cut him and Winky out in the 4th one. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that Kreacher made the cut, but still, they downplay Ron, make a heroin out of Hermione, make it seem like it's H/Hr while we all now (except for some who are a bit ill and/or delusional) that it's R/Hr AND they cut all the good stuff! | |

^  yeah i totally agree and im one of the biggest R/Hr shippers so i know where your coming from  +  =  or bad ship...very bad ship
well...i knew this since yesterday and i was devastated but i told myself "if i can take there being no 'Weasley Is Our King' storyline or Quidditch than i can take their being no dobby"...but im just wondering who will tell harry about the Room of Requirement and warn him When Umbridge is coming?!?!? 
But then again they coudnt put in everything since book five is over 800 pages long

No Dobby? Ah well, I'm sure the filmmakers will find a good way for the DA to get caught. They did it in the 4th movie with Neville and the gillyweed and it worked!
EDIT: Here is my theory: Dumbledore can let it slip into a conversation with one of the trio like he did in the 4th book (remember, at the Yule Ball, the room with all the lovely chamber pots?)
