The Daily Mail is reporting that Deathly Hallows, the last film in the Harry Potter series, will be split into two halves. Fans will remember that such a rumour has circulated before concerning Goblet of Fire. The reason given is artistic rather than financial, considering the size of the final novel.

Steven Spielberg had previously considered directing Philosopher's Stone, but later declined. As many fans will know, several names have been linked to the last film, including but not limited to; Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates and Guillermo Del Toro.

Whilst it's not entirely impossible that Steve Kloves might be working on the seventh movie script already, the production team are only about halfway through filming Half-Blood Prince. A script normally needs to be completed prior to the choosing of a director.

For now, treat this as a rumour. We will contact W.B. for further comment and verification.

it will be great to see 2 movies instead of 1. that will give all of us an unedited script ! its amazing !

OMG!!! That would be amazing, to get all the details in, but as long as they came out sometime around the same time as each other, I couldn't stand waiting so long to see the last half, Lol.

Honest to god I don’t see point in making last HP movie the into two halves. Thats very wrong of them to do it. Yes the final book was long and it’s the last HP book, but I don’t see the reason for making into halves. Come on the huge battle between Harry and Voldemort doesn’t need to done well. Because all they did was went around in circles like children, then Harry points his wand at Tom R. jr. Next thing you know he is dead. I was mad. The story line was great, but J .K. Rowling didn’t much effort in the final fight between Harry and Voldemort. I think that if they choose to make the Deathly Hallows into two movies Warner Bros and Rowling at cheating the fans of Harry Potter. Because now it seems like a good idea now but it might not turn out as people think it will.

I would prefer only one film of DH!!!!!!!! It'll look so odd when you finish half of the story in one film and then wait for the second half in another film

^ wow that is true...I bet on the first half it is some major clff hanger then you have tp take it out of the dvd player, then put it back in the box, then get out the other one. put it in the dvd player, then hit play wait for it to load and by the time it starts youve done forgot what happend ion the first half....then you have to watch it all over again...

This might be a very good idea !
Part of the problem with books that are made into movies, is the short cuts the producers have to take and the things they leave out.

That's why I prefer to read a book rather than go to see the movie of a book.

I think that splitting Deathly Hollows is a good idea. That way, the director can stay truer to the book, and won't have to cut out as many scenes.

You know...I don't mind the thought of two movies. If they're done well.

And my guess is that they would film them both at the same time (much like Pirates and LOTR) so that the lag time in between the two releases wouldn't be as wide.

This is the last hurrah (in a way) so why not let them do it well? And personally, I would rather it be done well than cut short because they couldn't fit everything into one movie.

Just my two cents...

Hmm. Interesting. I don't knooow... Splitting it into two films would be kind of confusing. I mean, unless they release it simultaneously, I don't like watching the first part of the movie, then waiting forever for the second one. It's supposed to be ONE book -- Deathly Hallows, therefore ONE movie -- Deathly Hallows.

It would be so amazing if the film was split and included all the detial in the book I would kill for that...and the people at warner bros shouldn't be worried if they lost fans because there are so many more "true" fans that would die to see the whole DH book in film.

Hmmm. I don't really like the films....at all....well, not since the first two.

I would like to see them all done properly or not at all, but then....eight films would be a bit much.

So! I think they can piece together a film that's about the length of Return of the King and still covers all the action. Maybe...if they get a decent director for once.....
