The Daily Mail is reporting that Deathly Hallows, the last film in the Harry Potter series, will be split into two halves. Fans will remember that such a rumour has circulated before concerning Goblet of Fire. The reason given is artistic rather than financial, considering the size of the final novel. Quote:
A film source said: "There's so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves. There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well."

At Warner Bros, who are rumoured to be thinking of Oscars and a big-name director such as Steven Spielberg for the final film, a spokesman said:
"People are discussing all possibilities."
Steven Spielberg had previously considered directing Philosopher's Stone, but later declined. As many fans will know, several names have been linked to the last film, including but not limited to; Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates and Guillermo Del Toro.
Whilst it's not entirely impossible that Steve Kloves might be working on the seventh movie script already, the production team are only about halfway through filming Half-Blood Prince. A script normally needs to be completed prior to the choosing of a director.
For now, treat this as a rumour. We will contact W.B. for further comment and verification.

I think two movies are better than a really long one. Besides, you wouldn't want to sit on your chair for almost 4 hours and not going to the bathroom because you're scared you'll miss a part!

pls make it 2 films,or an extremely long one film,,they gotta have all d main scenes in like harry stripping-hhee,godric hollow,horcruxes,ministry,malfroy manor,hogwarts,harry vs voldie...all.

I really like that they want to get as much detail into this one as possible! I hate when the movie is only 2 hours and they left stuff out... the majority of the fans are fans from the books and whoever took the time to read them is willing to sit through a longer movie if it meant more details.

I think if they're going to split this film into two halves they should have done the same with the other films. They all need to be high quality and not miss anything important, not just the Deathly Hallows one.

that is the best thing they could do. the ootp movie was very patchy compaired to the book. I mean I knew they would leave parts of the book out, but 5 minutes into the Movie you where half way through the book.

Personally I think it'd be nice to have DH split. For one thing they'll be able to be a lot more detailed and explain a lot. And then of course it gives us something more to look forward to.
I have mixed feelings about Steven Spielberg directing. On one hand he's a good director. But on the other he might mess with the story too much.

this would just be fantastic it would be great if they would be able to involve all the details of the final book taking into consideration the quality as well but it would yo J.K justice and be as a honouring moment for her

honestly I think it would be a good idea if DH was split into two halves. That way all the details in. As for Steven Spielburg directing, I'm sure he'll do a great job. I'm happy as long as the movie doesn't completely butcher the book to be honest.

i think it would be nice to make it 2 movies but why not just make it a three hour movie like the the lord of the rings im like 99% shure thtat all the dedicated harry potter fans will go and see it anyways..!! I know me and my friends will be first online 2 get tickets
