| | Deathly Hallows to be split into two halves? The Daily Mail is reporting that Deathly Hallows, the last film in the Harry Potter series, will be split into two halves. Fans will remember that such a rumour has circulated before concerning Goblet of Fire. The reason given is artistic rather than financial, considering the size of the final novel. Quote:
A film source said: "There's so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves. There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well."
Quote:
At Warner Bros, who are rumoured to be thinking of Oscars and a big-name director such as Steven Spielberg for the final film, a spokesman said:
"People are discussing all possibilities."
Steven Spielberg had previously considered directing Philosopher's Stone, but later declined. As many fans will know, several names have been linked to the last film, including but not limited to; Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, David Yates and Guillermo Del Toro.
Whilst it's not entirely impossible that Steve Kloves might be working on the seventh movie script already, the production team are only about halfway through filming Half-Blood Prince. A script normally needs to be completed prior to the choosing of a director.
For now, treat this as a rumour. We will contact W.B. for further comment and verification.

I actually, hope they do, put two halves. That way less things are disincluded. Either way, I suppose I wouldn't mind..As long as certain parts aren't just thrown to the side.

It's probably not a bad idea, that way everything that happened in the book (or nearly everything) can be included in the movie.

I think it's a good idea. But that mean more waiting......I don't really mind the waiting very much, because it's worth it at the end. I just hope they don't cut out too much details like in POA and OotP.

Well, I think it will be good I would rather there be two seperate films that have everything that needs to be put in than 1 film with great big improtant chunks missing.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brittany Lynn Ross Fourth Year | Darth Potter Well I don't really know how having two halfs is going to help because in the DH there are whole chapters that are slow and probably wouldn't be very entertaining to watch. I could understand it if they did the HBP in two halfs because lots happens in that book.. So I guess we'll have to see what they do.

It's okay as long as they stay true to the book.
(P.S. : Mad-eye, by the way, is played by Brendan (SP?) Gleeson )

| Wowza! I wouldn't mind if they split the movie in two halves since it is the last book, an I don't think I would like to see that they cut important stuff..

Hogwarts RPG Name: Phineas Fischer Fourth Year | *snortles* MAMA!Shroom I think this is quite an excellent idea. For me, the less they omit, the better. For me, when they omit stuff, it takes the richness out of the story. It'd be like Kill Bill; which was great because that was a very involved story, and doing it as a two parter gave them room to get into the story.

I think that they could make it in one movie but it would have to be like LOTR and be 3hrs long.

I think this is a great idea! They never make a really long film like it deserves and they do have a lot to tie and a lot to put in..and they can't do that unless the film is 3 hours or longer and they probably wouldnt do that. so a two part movie would be great!! I don't mind waiting either..they could release one in the summer one in november or a month after each other..not really sure how that would work but I think that'd be a totally great idea to fit everything (well all the important parts) into the film and give us fans everything we want to see!! I hope this rumor turns out to be true!!

As for director. I pray to God that Alfonso Cuaron does NOT direct it. I think he did an awful job of PoA. But I do hope Chris Colombus comes back Loved hiim

| Snape is my man! That would be great if they split it in two. They do have a bunch of stuff to put in the movie that they can't risk taking out. Since it's the last one I definitely think they need to end it with a bang. Make it incredibly awesome. I hope Cuaron directs DH. He's great at making dark films. I loved what he did with PoA. |

| They should make it one long movie. Since its the last, it should be longest, not that 2 hour and 30 minute crap they usually pull. I'd be fine sitting through a 4 hour movie. It'd be worth it. It'd be better that way. |

I understand that it would be a pain...would they both be called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1 and 2)? It seems odd. BUT, I'd much rather have it done right, and I think if the only way to get the whole, amazing storyline from the book is to make two films, I'm on board.
If Spielburg does it, that would be good, but I was hoping for Peter Jackson. The Lord of the Rings saga was done so well, and it'd be nice for the final film to include everything possible. I really wouldn't mind two films.
But, no matter what way they do it, I'm praying that they do the book justice. I don't want big plot points cut...or even some of the best scenes cut because of time. Quote:

I thought that PoA and GoF were too different. I understand that book and film are two different mediums, but both films were too unlike the book...Heck, Ron and Hermione's characters were not canon, and I just...I really liked Colombus. I know that it was easier to be faithful with the first two films because the books were much shorter, but they were going for authenticity and canon. So, GO CHRIS!

As long as Alfonso doesn't direct it... I'm fine.
I think I would like, however, to see the film split into 2 movies. Would serve to give a much more detailed, practical ending. I think even the movie-only goers, who haven't read the books, would appreciate that because after you've seen 6 movies about one plot... I dunno, the ending , in my opinion, ought to be spectacular. Plus a 3 1.2 LotR ending might be too much at once.

I think I'd rather have one long film. Look at LotR. People sat through that. They'll sit through a long HP movie as well.

| The FORK. Be afraid.
That would actually be nice. But then there is the issue of if they release the movies at the same time, or 6 months apart, or whatever.
Oh man, I hope none of those directors direct DH. Especially not Chris Columbus. Cuaron I could live with, but not Columbus.
