| | Deathly Hallows reviews online (spoilers!) (UPDATED)
With the release of Deathly Hallows on Saturday, reviews of the last Harry Potter book are slowly appearing online. It goes without saying that these will more than likely feature SPOILERS, so if you haven't finished reading the book, don't read this article.
Like with the Order of the Phoenix film, this article will serve to accumulate as many online reviews of the novel as possible. ------------------- The Scotsman: Quote:
But if readers are expecting an emotional wallop, I fear they may be disappointed. For all its epic swagger and portentous tone, the overall effect is rather like being pelted with softly boiled eggs.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jillian McGuffin Sixth Year | Gryffindor Goddess I disagree with that statement too! *pokes it* I have to say, her diction [word choice] is very amazing! I mean, where does she come up with fancy words, accents, and even names! |

I agree with the top, but I have no complaints about her prose.

Don't be dishearten HP fans, critics tend to be frustrated writers that don't have the talent to write themselfs. Of course since he's a critic means all the millions of us that bought these books faithfully over the years have no taste! Guess we need to go back to only things like Broke Back Mountain and War & Peace. AS IF!!!!

Well duh, they are not from English speaking countries of course they are going to say it differently. I have to say that I disagree with just about everything that this reviewer has said.

I thought it was very emotional, so I disagree with the top. I thought the epilogue may be a bit too light-hearted, but it provided closure and brought up curiosity and other tales which were interesting.
The second quote is very true.
hmm, I did think some parts were a bit cliche, but sometimes things just are cliche. I quite like JK's style of writing (obviously), I didnt think there was a problem with her prose.

You know, there are some things that I not only did not like in the book. I HATED some things in the book. But that doesn't mean that I thought the book was poorly written or too cliche. I think this man was possibly thinking that JKR was going to write the last novel for him. She can't appease everyone in the world. She did what was best for the story as SHE, the author, the creator, saw it. As long as she knows it's the right ending, no matter what we think, we know it is the only way it could ultimately end.
