Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Harry Potter actors nominated for 2011 Academy Awards The nominations for the 2012 Academy Awards were announced this morning, where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 got three nominations in the makeup, art direction, and visual effects categories. Harry Potter actors Gary Oldman received a best actor nomination for his work in Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, while Kenneth Branagh got recognition as best supporting actor for his work in My Week with Marilyn. Chris Columbus, director of the first two Harry Potter films, got a producer/Best Picture nomination for The Help. The Oscars will be handed out at a lavish ceremony on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Los Angeles. Art Direction |
I don't like tne nominees. Harry Potter deserved more nominees, but what can we do? :( If we win in these categories, it will be wonderful :D |
Honestly- shouldn't there be a special Oscar award for something as successful as an eight-film, gazillion-dollar earning, multigeneration-inspiring series that sported many of the greatest actors of our time? I'm just saying. |
im hoping we'll win all the nominated ones :) |
You know there's something wrong where a film like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close gets a BP nomination, and Transformers get 3 nomination. Just how stupid and unfair are these people? Alexandre Desplat wasn't even nominated. |
Still can't believe Alan Rickman wasn't nominated! That fact that it's the last HP film, they really should of given it more nominations. Ah well, hopefully we win the 3 we're up for. |
Very disappointed but not at all surprised by the elitists in the Academy's lack of perception. Hope DH2 does take the three crumbs tossed its way. It certainly deserves those and more. |
To be honest, the OSCARS never really recognize sci-fi movies. It's always been that way and no one knows why. They should just have a separate sci-fi film awards connected to the OSCARS or have different categories for it. Same with Lord Of The Rings, X-MEN, Thor, and a lot of those movies NEVER get nominated. It's sad but true but to get SOMETHING is a good sign because I was looking for them to get nothing...however, I do think they should get an honorary award and J.K. Rowling should accept it since she did help bring back the magic of the movies and saved the film industry for a decade. |

We're one step closer....... Shame we didn't get more.. :( |
:whaa: I'd expect it to get way more....but I guess not :\ |
I dont know how no one expected this. LOTR - well written! Had fans & SAG members loving it. HP - only fans. Like Star Wars. HP is receiving a special Oscar in recognition of its contributions to the cinema. They are all going to receive it when they do the Special effects award show. I read it here in Snitchseeker. We should be happy that those who worked in the field are being recognized, the Art direction, Makeup & Visual effects. Congratulations to the HP team! One more: BAFTA didnt do any better in recognizing HP either. Didnt nominate in one of the main fields. They will get the special award though... Congrats to HP! Your fans still love you... |
Congratulations to the HP nominees. Should have been more but I am not surprised with what rules the roost in H-wood. |

Anyways, as much as I was hoping for HP to get nominated like LOTR did back then...well, I wasn't expecting much. I'm happy that HP got nominated anyways and I beamed when Gary Oldman's (especially Gary Oldman :woot:) and Kenneth Branagh's name came up during the nominations announcement. Congrats to them too! :D |
I hope they get a special recognition from the Academy. So disappointed though that Desplat and Rickman weren't nominated! |

Congrats! Good luck guys! I still think that Alan Rickman should get a nom, but aww well. And you guys will totally win make up! I mena, I think Neville's battle scras totally surpasses everything! :D |
Frankly, I wasn't expecting much more. Congrats for the nominations and congrats to Gary Oldman for finally got one :) |
Oscar snobs. *SCOFFS LOUDLY TO SELF* though, surely they'll win some of those? And aren't there more vis effects/techy awards at a different Oscar ceremony before the Sunday ones? :erm: |
Extraordinarily heartbroken and disappointed that Alan was not given a nod for Supporting Actor. If Ian McKellen can receive one for playing a wizard, why the heck can't Alan get one? Stupid Academy probably still looks at the Potter films as a whole as nothing more than kiddie entertainment. :banghead: |
This is ridiculous. The acting in this movie was phenomenal, top notch. And yet no nods, even for Alan? I'm a bit ashamed of the Academy. |

This is showing their spite to the films. They KNOW that everyone was holding their breaths and hoping that it would at least get a nomination for a different contribution. So now we should hope that Harry Potter wins in all three. :) Come on people, this is the only BIG award thing that Harry Potter never got an award for. |
