Post David Yates on OotP

In Empire magazine’s Dec. issue, director David Yates talks about the running time for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Quote:
The book's huge, but it actually distills quite easily... That said, I've shot a movie that's probably over three hours, so I'll have to lose 45 minutes in the edit.

Nooooo! Don't cut 45 minutes of the movie! We promise we'll see it multiple times even if it is 3 hours! At the very least, cut 20 minutes from it, but not 45!!

3 hours is fine. I wouldn't mind if it was 3 days!
i agree, go on warner bros go a bit wild have a 3 hr movie lotr was ova 3 hrs n if not ill expect 2 c dat 45 mins worth on the dvd no excuses ne1 else agree?

They should just leave it the way it is. Every Harry Potter fan would gladly watch 45 minutes more of the movie. *SIGH*

Forty-five minutes???If it's just shots of land and unimportant side conversations that's alright but 45 min.?????Talk about cutting it down.

2 hrs. and 15 mins. is still a pretty long movie! Wait a sec, is he saying that he's already shot all of it?

Excellent quote, but why do studios believe we can't handle long films. This only applies for unknown quantities which Harry Potter definately is not. You have a captive audiance who have read the very long and very interesting books so why not have longer films they might just capture the magic of the books if they did. I can't wait for the televisions series I'm sure they would do justice to JKR! Any way I'm sure the film will be enjoyable regardless of length.

That's harsh, another 45 minutes of the book out? How irritating.
