| | |  Daniel Radcliffe unaware of Pottermore, no interest in reprising Harry Potter role
Daniel Radcliffe spoke to the LA Times recently on whether or not he would ever want to reprise the role of Harry Potter if J.K. Rowling were to write a new book, and revealed that he has no clue whatsoever as to what Pottermore may be. 
On Pottermore and his refusal to be Harry if the character is involved. Quote:
“I know nothing about that whatsoever,” Radcliffe said. “I’m sure that Jo will be writing a lot more in the coming years. I’m sure she has a lot more in her than we’ve read and a lot more stories to tell.”
And he added, with a bit of a chuckle: “As long as they don’t involve Harry, I’m quite happy to buy them.”
On playing Harry years down the road if J.K. Rowling wrote another book. Quote:
“Not particularly. I think that would be a bit odd,” said the actor, who celebrates his 22nd birthday the week after the eighth film opens. “I’d be very skeptical about that. First of all, I don’t think that she will” write another Potter installment, “and second of all, oh, I don’t know, the idea of going back to something after 10 or 20 years? At that point, I will have worked 20 years to establish a career outside of it, and at that point to go back to it would feel a little self-defeating.”
“I could feel completely different at that time, but at this moment, it feels like it would be strange and not the way it would or should go.”
Dan also admitted that he will be on stage in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying until January 2012, after which he will pursue film roles.  | |

just because Dan played Harry for so long, doesnt neccessarily mean he is an HP fan. Actors approach their roles so differently that us, the public who watches from afar.

Aw  i hope Dan changes his mind if pottermore does turn out to be another hp book . I mean i wouldnt blame Dan for wanting to try something new , how woud it feel to do the same things for over ten years . I would be pretty tired too . Alough it would be very akward not to have the same actors play the characters.

SHOCK! He doesn't want to play Harry Potter? Most people in the country would kill (not literally) for that role! And he'll just give it up, POOF, like that! Hey, I'll take the role! Yeah, I'm a girl but I'll cut my hair! 
I hope there'll be a new book someday, and can someone explain what Pottermore is?

I can see why Dan wouldn't want to be Harry again. I mean, he grew up as Harry Potter and now it's time to move on. I hope to see him in new movies soon.

I'm scratching my head as to why some people think that this is Dan is slamming Jo or his character? He has been Harry for 10+ years and he has never said anything to make one think he dislikes Harry or the franchise. I'm sure he is tired of hearing about Harry Potter now that he has been done filming for well over a year. It's gotta be hard to break out of the Potter mold when people keep introducing you as that character, it's an actor's worst nightmare, I'm sure.
It's clear that there will not be anymore Harry Potter books - maybe with other characters, but not the ones we grew up with - and its clear that Dan still loves the franchise and Jo, so why all the hate?

This does not sadden me. Radcliffe is, in my eyes, a terrible, terrible actor.

I am not so sad at this. I'm not surprised. I know that Dan and Harry are different people. I'm annoyed at Dan for trying to be free of Harry Potter. He will never do anything better than Harry Potter.

i told my friend commented on this and she read the comment and i mentioned Twilight which im not a fan of cause ive not read or watched an y of the books or films. but 2days 2 find out wat Pottermore is and every1 knowws Dan's excited deep down to find out what it is!!!

I do agree with Dan. While the Harry Potter series is a fantastic book and movie franchise, it was his first 'big break'. After spending ten or twenty years to get himself away from all that and to re-mold himself as Daniel, not Harry, it would be sort of counter-productive to go back to it. Not to mention that he will be much older then.
I also agree with the fact that Jo probobly isn't writing another book. I'm pretty sure I've read interviews with Jo saying she won't be writing another. She's also confirmed that Pottermore isn't another book. (EDIT: by another book, I mean the 8th Harry Potter book. I have absolutely no idea if it's an encyclopedia or what.) I know that's what alot of people have been hoping for, but quite frankly, it would seem foolish for her to write another book now that the series has officially ended.
Jo is a fantastic author though, no one else is quite like her. I look forward to seeing what else she's got up her sleeve.  | |

As someone 17 years older than Dan, I can imagine he feels the need to get away from HP and define himself on his own instead of by the character he began playing while he was still a child.
I have also read that Rowling does not want to write anymore about HP.
Discovering this forum today is the first I've heard of Pottermore. Nice short wait for me to find out what it is! | |
