| | |  Daniel Craig wins Philosopher's Stone proof copy
The Great British Movie Event (which we previously told you about) took place at the Old Billingsgate in the City of London, England on Tuesday, where a proof copy of Philosopher's Stone and several film props from the movies were auctioned off. Various names from Harry Potter, including David Barron (producer), Mike Newell ( Goblet of Fire director), Alan Rickman (Snape) and Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) attended the event.

Daniel Craig, the current Bond actor, won the proof copy of Philosopher's Stone for £18,000 ($36,000). Hugh Grant put up a fight for the book. Quote:
The bidding for the Potter proof escalated into some serious splashing of cash, as Grant stepped in at £11,000, only to be joined by Bond man Craig. As diners held their breath the two were locked in a bidding tussle until it was knocked down to Craig, at a princely £18,000.
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli paid for a kiss with Robbie Coltrane.
The event, which comprised of four major British franchises ( Harry Potter, James Bond, Aardman animation & Richard Curtis' work for Working Title), was held to benefit the National Film and Television School - which Order of the Phoenix & Half-Blood Prince director David Yates attended.  | |
