Post Dan talks music with NME

In the December 2004 issue of NME Magazine, Dan gave his opinion on particular songs by the following bands - The Libertines, The Others, Franz Ferdinand & Keane.

Quote:
The Libertines: "Can't Stand Me Now"

Daniel: "Brilliant. Love it. I'm a massive Libertines fan. It's not my favourite track off the album, but it's wonderful, beautiful, fantastic, and incredibly sad."

The Others: "This Is For The Poor"

Daniel: "I really like this song. However, I feel like I'm being made to feel guilty. I like to think that I'm not a typical schoolboy, and stuff, but I do feel very guilty when listening to this song. I prefer Stan Bowles 'cos it's guilt-free."

Franz Ferdinand: "Take Me Out"

Daniel: "Brilliant, fantastic, just great! When I first heard it, it didn't immediately grab me, but it's infectious. You just find yourself humming it. And the album....but it's not my favourite on the album, it's erm....erm....'Matinee'."

Keane: "Bedshaped"

Daniel: "I'm not a big Keane fan. I mean it's nice enough but it doesn't make me dance, it doesn't make me happy, and it doesn't make me sad."
I disagree with him about Keane, the chorus is wonderfully heartfelt but their music isn't meant to make you dance, it's meant to make you listen to the lyrics but to each his own.

Didn't he rave about Franz's album before? Doesn't seem like he likes it as much now, judging on this.

That's because they're all British, I think.

Oh, are they local british bands or are they just promoting their music in England?

Franz isn't British, Keane and The Libertines are, I'm not sure about The Others.

No, they're pretty national, pretty big too. Franz Ferdinand won the Mercury Music Prize and Keane were nominated for it. Keane had the biggest selling album of 2004 in the UK.

Talking Ahhh!

Keane are fantastic!! I love them. Oh and the Libertines are also brilliant. I'm surprised Dan doesn't appreciate Keane's music much, for some reason. Ah well!

Haven't heard anyone of those except Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out", and that's a pretty good song. Glad Dan agrees with me on that.

Keane - "Bedshaped"

"Don't laugh at me, don't look away. Cause you'll follow me back with the sun in your eyes and on your own, bedshaped and legs of stone. You knock on my door and up we'll go, in white light, I don't think so. But what do I know, what do I know?"

"The Last Time"

"The last time, you fall on me for anything you like, the one last lie, you fall on me for anything you like and years make everything right. You fall on me for anything you like and I, no I don't mind..."

I don`t know anything about `The Libertines` and `The Others`, but Franz Ferdinand and Keane isn`t lyrical or sad, or anything like that. It is just awful!

I disagree with him about Keane, the chorus is wonderfully heartfelt but their music isn't meant to make you dance, it's meant to make you listen to the lyrics but to each his own.

Yeah, I`m perfectly agree with you - this music doesn`t made to
dance, but to cry, may be?

I should think he's still pretty keen on Franz, as he got to ask them 3 question in the new Franz issue of NME. Speaking of which, has that been posted yet? I could always make a scan of that for SS...

He just doesn't seem as keen as he was, in this.

Oooh that'd be brilliant! You could submit it as news too using the new facility on the front page!
