We will have much more on this, including when Dan will begin rehearsals and when the production itself will start in New York (assuming the read-through is successful and the musical will be produced), so stay tuned. UPDATE: We have spoken to Dan's publicist, who has stated that Dan is currently looking through a few potential projects, including this musical. However, nothing has been confirmed, in terms of commitments to anything. More news to come soon. |
wow! Am i right in thinking that this is the musical that set Barbra Streisand on the road to super stardom? |
I'd love it to be a film, as Broadway is not an easy visit for me. |
Wow Dan is going to be in a musical! THIRD TO POST |
If so i'm so going to it. the way my life is going it would be fun. |
oh cool...read in one of the interviews that he would loved to do a musical and i guess here he is...doing one right after harry potter...great going dan! |
I've never been to Oklahoma but I'd love to go to Broadway! Wait what? Dan in a musical? Can the boy even sing? :gasp: I mean in a movie version they could always redub your singing like they did with Audrey Hepburn in "My fair lady" but not on Broadway ... *lines up to buy tomatoes* j/k. I have to admit that boy's got guts when it comes to his career he's always out on a limb first equus now this? I am shocked and flabbergasted  but honestly, it would be fun to watch. I hope he can sing and that they do go through with it. It would be fun to see Dan on Broadway. Maybe he could do I don't know Oklahoma next or something ... :music: Oooooooooooooooooooooooooklahoma where the wind comes rushing down the plains ... :music:  |

Oh AWESOME!! I can't wait to see it!! I thought Dan was going to do Journey is the Destination after he finished Potter, but it's nice to see he's stepping outside his box and doing a musical! Of course, he kind of already did that with Equus. It takes balls to appear naked in front of thousands of people (no pun intended). I wish Dan the best and I can't wait to see it!!! :D Quote:

That's very interesting. Has he ever had any singing lessons? But congrats Dan with this role!! |
Dan in a musical? I can't take that image seriously! I hope it does well and transfers to London, I never saw him in Equus and would love to see him act live :D |
I strongly imagine he wouldnt have been cast unless he could sing...... |
I think it's going to look very cool and Dan will look awesome (: |

stop doing plays please! i can't go there to watch you! |
That's great because he said he wanted to do a musical, but does he even have the time to do this? |
Congratulations to Da on this new venture. I hope it goes well. perhaps he is focusing on theatre work instead of looking for a Hollywood blockbuster? |
Oooo... a musically inclined Harry Potter star?! Me likey! |

Really interesting! Good luck Dan. |
OHHH!That's great! |
Go Dan!! |
Hm... Dan in a musical? I'd like to see that. Just from his voice when he talks, I'm not sure how nice it would be to hear him sing, but I'm sure if he's not good enough, he wouldn't have the part. :) It's great to see that he's got guts, like a real Gryffindor! |
Dan in a musical? Godh, I didn't even know he could sing that well. Great going Dan!!! |
Oh,a musical.. I hope he will success in it.. |
Sounds interesting...I don't know if dan can sing though |
Well, I may have to return to NYC to see that Broadway show as well. Saw Equus and it was great. |
i hate living so far away :( |
OMG thats so cool |
He's a horrible singer..if anyone has doubts watch his scene in december boys or hear him sing happy birthday to Jo at the HP five premier...if he takes this role he'll need extensive training. Won't be something easy at all but he's a hardworking guy!!! |
Didn't we learn any thing from Dan's time in Equus? When it was first announced that he was taking the role of Strang, i'm sure i wasn't the only doubting thomas. Not because i didn't think Dan wasn't a good actor, but because the disicplines of the stage is so much different to that of film. I was proven wrong, as was a great many people. What it showed us was that Dan prepared and prepared hard. He didn't just turn up for the 'gig', thinking his role of Harry would carry him through. Dan has been having singing lessons for over 12 months now, and should this part take off, i'm convinced Dan will continue to put in the work to make sure he can give it his all. I' m sure Dan won't sound like Domingo, or Sinartra, but, think of the likes of Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan or even Rex Harrison in 'My Fair Lady'. Voices don't have to be beautiful, but tuneful, in time and inteprative. |
I really want to go see him sometime soon!! |
Good luck dan! |

He should SO do this! Then, maybe I could go see him in NYC and hear his American accent. :P |
interesting |
voice not as important as acting Robert Morse, the actor who first starred in How to Succeed did not need an amazing voice for the role. He sings well enough - check out clips on Youtube, but watch the amusing facial expressions, and acting which is hilarious at times. We've heard about and seen Dan's high energy and it would definitely add to the performance. What I think will be interesting is seeing Dan portray an American in a very culturally American play. I suppose they could change the premise, that he uses the book to get ahead specifically because he is a foreigner. |
Equus never came to Australia, sooooooooo Dan doing a musical will probably result the same. It (and Dan staring in it) won't come either (chances are lowww) so I won't get to see it.:( |
sounds interesting good luck to him |
