This is so bad. We are all going to miss him. I hope he'll come back to direct OOTP, atleast. |
yeah he was a good director |
yes, he was very good. lets hope he'll be back for hp5,6,7 |
Am I the only one pleased? LOL HP 4 doesn't need to be family orientated and Columbus excells in mainly that area only. It's good that he knows that and is leaving for other directors to take the series in a different, possibly better direction. |

I agree ^^ ...and can't think of anything else to say as you have already said it  |
I really like the first 2 movies, but after seeing the trailers etc for the third, I am inclined to agree with you, as it does look really good, to the point where I visited my cinema last night personally and booked 2 tickets for the 31st May to see the first showing of POA in my home town, its at 9am! I never did that for the first two movies, so maybe it is for the best he will be leaving, a new direction is always good. But remember he didn't direct POA, only produced it. |
well i say conrgats on all the work he has done for the three movies..watever he goes on to i hope he does well and has fun doing it |
It is really sad that he is leaving..but he should come back for OOTP. The third film looks really good, I have seen the trailer and it is wicked. I thought the first two films were really good and I liked them but PoA is going to be much better. I hope he has fun in whatever he's going to do next!! |
I have mixed feelings on this. He was a really good director and i liked the way he did things- and he produces well. But IAbsolutly LOVE Alfonsos way of making it so they are older and they act more older. But then again we dont know who is directing the 4th film- they might even be better. But then again im afraid of change, what if the new new guy does some really stupid things and adds something stupid- like hermione and ron going out (sixth film people! TWO BOOKS APART!) But then again thats what the writer and JKR decide. I am really confused on what siunds better. |
I agree that he excels mainly in making family movies, but I was hoping that he would stay on as the producer of the other HP movies, as he was the one responsible for bringing Hogwarts to life, after all. :( Anyway, good luck to him in whichever movie he makes next. |
He was a really good director and we shall miss him. But I agree with Marcella. Not neccesarily it has to be a good family film. |

I am very please that he is gone, Of course HP 1 and 2 were ok, But another brand of the directors are going 2 make the movies much much more better. I hope the 3rd Movie Director did a great job on it. Forgot his name though |
Well, my response to this may not be very popular. I believe it is because I am OLD. Anyway, my feeling is that, no matter how dark the books get, they are still being published (to this point anyway) as "Children's Literature." I am a parent and a teacher of 8-11 year olds. The movies may have had a "family flair" to them because the books were written that way. Chris Columbus did a nice job, and his work as producer on PoA will help to lend continuity between the 3 films. I hope that GoF will not seem disjointed from the first 3 films. All the films need to all be part of a continuous septology. It is my belief that the LotR trilogy worked so well because it was directed by one director and there was continuity with the actors, sets, locations, etc. With a project as long as the HP series, I know that it may not be possible to keep everything the same, but it needs to be as similar as possible. Just my opinion! |
MY opinion is chris was indeed a very good director as we have seen his excellent job in many other movies. He usually directs family pictures. I am sad and Happy. SAD - Chris is going Happy - Other director is getting a chance |
I'm not the slighest upset that hes leaving, good director? Yes. Good enough to do the books justice? No Personally I found that Chris's job on the HP movies was too "kiddy" based, and I from what I see and heard I speak for some of us when I say "BRING ON THE DARKSIDE!!" lol TATA Anyway Chris, its been fun :hello: |

Speaking of Batman, i was thinking just the other day, Tim Burton would be *SO* right for OoTP. |
I hope he doesn't come back for OoP. CC was suited to the more kiddie/family angle. OoP doesn't have that sort of feel to it. It's deeper, darker. I'd love to see Alfonso come back for OoP, but I doubt he will. |
Yea Chris does seem like the director to make every movie kindof family oriented and "heartwarming", but we need directors like mike newell and alfonso to "spice" up all the action and :eyebrows: "on the edge of your seat" suspense we need in the Harry Potter films. i think he should stay involved in the hp films but not as director. :sorcerer: |
bye bye :bye: :bye: |
