| | China prefers Rowling to Anderson
A short article discusses the events that took place in China to commemorate the bicentennial of Hans Christian Andersen. It is mentioned that today's Chinese youth prefer Rowling to Anderson. Quote:
Whereas, Anderson is no longer the only icon of Chinese children. Message owl, flying sweeper and visionless mantle in " Harry Potter" have become new "beloved" for today's Chinese kids.
Together with Harry Potter, images from Japanese cartoons, American movies, and Korean novels have occupied children's imaginary world.
Ten-year-old Hu Zhenzhen is quoted as saying, "Anderson's fairy tales are too serious for me, and not fashionable enough."

Yes. Michael Goldenberg scripted Peter Pan 2003 and will also do OotP. Quote:
Peter Pan, and unauthorized sequels...like Peter and the Starcatchers which is money that doesn't go to Children's Hospitals...just how much money does Disney need anyways????
Great Ormand Street own the rights. & they don't have the money to sue those who disregard their rights. Like I said, Barrie would be turning in his grave. Quote:
And Emma... Heffalump??
Quote:
emma, since when were you into heffalump?
See, this is why 17 year olds are the definition of maturity. 4 of us went to town especially to see Heffalump. But it was a good film! However, it did lead to some very funny conversations. Since when do elephants live in forests? Since when are they purple? Since when do Kangaroo's, tigers and donkeys live in British woodlands?! Eeyore was also diagnosed as being a manic depressive. *will shut up now*

And he also did Princess and the Pea, Emperor's New Clothes, Thumbelina, etc. All classics. So many stories we know now were written by him.

Oh, yeah, I love the little mermaid. But they kinda killed that after awhile. I still have a framed poster of The Little Mermaid hung up upmidst my band posters and such. Looks kinda outta place there...but anyways...yeah. I see where your going at..He's a classic writer who wrote most of the stories we know now, but some of them were 'disney'ed up so we can watch the movies...? Did I get that right?
