| | Amazon receive 250,000 Deathly Hallows paperback pre-orders The Bookseller today reports that, despite supermarket chain ASDA offering the book for £1, Amazon.co.uk still received 250,000 pre-orders for the Deathly Hallows paperback, which they priced at £8.99. Quote:
"The sales of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the UK and across the globe are eclipsing those of the previous Harry Potter books by a considerable margin," said Christopher North, head of books at Amazon.co.uk. "Although the children's version remains the bestseller, we have seen a strong uplift in sales of the adult version compared to previous years, perhaps illustrating that people who have grown up reading Harry Potter are taking their love of the series of books into adulthood."

That quote is a bit rubbish, its more like, the adult books sales are going up because avid fans want both copies, like myself. to have both first edition in all versions is quite satisfying.
unless im wrong.

| MeeeeYOWZUH! it still comes down to cost and the children's paperback is by far the cheapest. While they're nice to have (particularly for fans) the Adult hard copy versions (here in Sydney) are very expensive!

I like the Childrens version best
I mean, I think it's stupid to make a special adult version for a book with just a different cover..Like adults are ashamed to read HP when it isn't in a Adult edition..

unless im wrong. It sounds like The Bookseller emailed them and instead of responding properly, they sent out a standardised quote, which unfortunately has very little relevance. This is, however, pretty much normal practice. Although there are millions of first edition DHs.

That quote is quite silly, really. A bigger amount of sales of one type of cover means nothing *rolls eyes*

If I am not mistaken, wasn't it one year ago today when we were standing in line waiting for the release of the DH hard cover book? I'm pretty sure today is the one year anniversary.

Personally I like to have both Hard Cover and paperback. Paperback is easier when your traveling, but when I first read a book, I prefer it to be hard cover. I'm just waiting for the US to release it in paperback. I tried to order it thru the UK, but they said I couldn't! I have OOTP paperback from Bloomsbury, and I don't even want to read it cause it's so pretty to open.

I'm happy with my hard cover book, so I don't really fuss much about the paper backs.

Anyway, that's lots of books It is only the cover but it means adults don't have to be embarassed about reading a kid's book. Quote:
