The HP Lexicon has received information that may reveal the identity of a mysterious person mentioned in initials toward the end of the 6th book.
The information, which comes from a reliable source, can be read here.
However this is still just a RUMOUR until it is confirmed or denied by J.K.Rowling/Bloomsbury/Scholastic.

But the only thing I can't figure out is how did Regulus get to the locket? He must have been a powerful wizard, because he had to probably drink the potion, right? Did he have someone with him at the time, like Dumbledore and Harry? And how did he find the place? The cave and all...Maybe the locket wasn't there to begin with?
Now I am so confused.

My family and I had talked about the possibility of Regelus being the one to do that. But Sirius had made him out to be such a coward, and much to weak to ever have the guts or brains to do something like that especially under the close watch of Lord Voldemort. But as already stated you never know with JKR.

I did talk about it with a friend of mine. I was thinking Regulus was too obvious. but she pointed out to me there was a locket at grimmauld place in the drawing room that none of them could open. so now that's not only a very good posibility, but just a fact... but I still wonder who that source was. and how he knew background information such as his second name...

wasnt this blantely obvious, and i think the A as a middle initial would stand for Alphred because is it not mentioned in book 5 that Sirius had an Uncle Alphred?? where did they get the other middle name from any way? was it mentioned and i just dont remember or somthing?

well i think it's the guy u r thinking abt....cuz at a community at orkut...someone said that rowling mentioned someone's name in the Black family that was from A...and that's how u get his middle name
and rem, he was a death eater....and they are the only ones who call Voldemort "Dark Lord"...and that's wht the note says...so i think it's him

I thought it was him.....and for those who think that if this isn't true JK would squash it on her site...have you noticed how much she loves the rumors! she wouldn't squash this one even if it isn't true. I was just thinking...what if it were three people's first initials? I know weird..but if it is Regulus he must be one powerful wizard, because he would of had to drink the green stuff....and then the lake water...and then ward of the dead people.......

You know, it's kind of weird. HP Lexicon is quite the reliable site, but it seems like everyone and their mother knew that it would be Regulas Black, so it's kind of disappointing in that way. But then, JKR herself said she wouldn't really be introducing any new characters in book 7, just learn about people we've heard about before. So it makes sense... Quote:

I believe it is Sirius using his brother's initials. He could have been in contact with Dumbledore and be helping him find the horcruxes. Remember what Dumbledore told Draco on the astronomy tower. There are ways to make it look like a wizard has died. It makes sense to me to fake Sirius's death. No one goes looking for a dead man. | |

Yeah this is way to early!! There is no way anyone would have CONFIRMED information on book 7 yet. Only JKR would know for sure at this point. This seems like a "green flamed torch" headline.
