Hi, my name's Daniel and I'm the webmaster of the only Bulgarian HP fan site. I write you this letter to inform you about the biggest scandal in bulgaria right now. And it's about Harry Potter. I will tell you the story of a 15 years old boy,who tried to translate HP5 into bulgarian and now he is public enemy #1!
The bulgarian publishing house - EGMONT BULGARIA ( www.egmontbulgaria.com) announced that the bulgarian edition of the fifth book will appear on the 13 of December. So the boy (his nickname is Dobby) started translating the book. For near a month he translated the first 8 chapters of the book and posted them on his website - harrypotter5.hit.bg. 2 or 3 hours after he added the 8th chapter, his site was deleted from the server. He received some e-mails from HIT.BG and from EGMONT BULGARIA, where they threatened him that they may put him into the jail. He than hosted his site in Yahoo.com, but few hours later the site was again deleted from the server. Now EGMONT want to put him into the jail, but Dobby continues translating the book!
Potter-bg.com will help Dobby start his new site, where everyone can read the bulgarian translation of book 5.
Isn't Harry Potter, who is always breaking the rules, and finally he is proclaimed for a hero!
I thing that going against the law just to give the bulgarian fans a translation, Dobby can call himself the biggest HP fan in Bulgaria!
We want everyone in the world to know how brave Dobby is to translate HP5, so please post it as a news to your site!
Best wishes
stra6ko, webmaster of www.potter-bg.com |

IMHO
I'm sure that boy doesn't mean to hurt anyone, but as a matter of fact, he is. I don't think J.K. Rowling would approve, do you? There are many people whose jobs depend on the writing, editing and publishing industries, and thanks to this boy, who's making an illegal copy of the book, the incomes of those FAMILIES, may be severly damaged.
Let's think of others -on the real damage we can inflict to others with our actions- before we do something that instead of being "heroic" is hurting more people than it would help.

I agree with heleyne, there are alot of people who's job it is to do that, they get money to do it, not the fans. as noble his intentions were, the fact of the matter is, there are people getting hurt by this.

yea I agreed and thought he was an awesome fan, but then when y'all pointed out that people's home life were at stake I realized how unfair that is. Think if your parent's job was completely blown off cuz some kid messed it all up. I wouldn't be too happy! I guess I'm kinda neutral here. |

Whoa..well thats cool..I mean to risk even like going to jaill...I think its a bit excesive..and well I would be afraid of doing that cause this is not school rules, this is the law.But I still think that"Dobby"is very brave and that he rocks!
Be careful! But keep being so faithful to Harry Potter thats cool!

Actually Crucio, I would say that to be loyal to Harry Potter means to be loyal to his author, JK Rowling and her rights. Cool is to have a website like this one, cool is to read all the books and watch the movies and enjoy and speculate about what's coming next. But I think its totally uncool to disrespect HP so much as to translate it without the proper formation, without any regard for what the author may think, without thinking -as I posted eariler- of the damage that so-called loyalty may do to others.
True loyalty to HP and its author goes way beyond violating copyrights. A true HP fan can distinguish her/himself for way more than translating a book on the net. Don't you think?

I disagree with what this chap is doing, as it does break many laws and costs people money,
but on the other hand if i was this guy i would write it all up and then put it on peer to peer all he needs to do is send a few emals to members of his website then they all put it on there machines and "share" the file with people on P2P with an app like Kazaa.
:whisle: I will add i do not comend P2P for copyrighted stuff but it great to share my own stuff with the world. :whisle:

I also agree with Heleyne. What's so terrible about waiting just a few more months for the book? And how can you call that true loyalty when he is showing total disrespect for Miss Rowling? And didn't he even stop and think about the families that depend on the money that is made from the publishing and selling of the book? Sorry, but that just doesn't seem like loyalty to me....
