3 'How to Succeed' July dark performances tied in with Deathly Hallows II promotion Rumours and stories have surfaced that a scuffle between Warner Bros and the producers of Daniel Radcliffe's musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying took place due to Dan's commitment to promote Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II in July, specifically the world premiere in London on July 7, 2011. The rumours stated that the production of the musical will shut down for up to five extra nights so Dan could do promotional work for Deathly Hallows: Part II, with a monetary transaction between the companies to compensate for the "dark" performances (no show those days); again, these are speculations without confirmation from either party. The official Twitter for the musical, H2SBway, updated Wednesday with the following: Quote:
Telecharge, the official site from which to purchase Broadway theatre tickets, lists the timings mentioned in the Twitter post as those vacant from the July schedule, which can be seen here. We have received confirmation from How to Succeed official reps that the three dates mentioned above are the ONLY dark performances for July 2011; the rest of the schedule for the musical will go as proceeded. Please use your judgment to assess when Dan will be promoting Deathly Hallows: Part II, as we have yet to receive more information regarding his press rounds in London and the U.S. (no city confirmed yet) outside the world premiere. Warner Bros. have just informed SnitchSeeker that nothing beyond the world premiere has been confirmed. Tickets for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which has now begun previews and opens on March 27th, can be ordered at Broadway.com. Well, it's nice that he's going to be able to attend the world premier at London. |
I had a slight panic attack when I heard "dark dates in July", I'm feeling much better now though. Lol. |
ok, don't mean to sound kinda...well dumb, but what are "dark dates"? |

It doesn't make sense to have a Harry Potter premiere without Dan, Rupert, and Emma because if anyone of them is missing, it wouldn't feel right. I'm glad that they worked it out for the World Premiere but that really is no good for fans like me who don't have money to fly there. From the sounds of it, the world premiere is the only one he'll be attending which makes me kind of irritated even though I know it's not his fault. When the U.S. premiere takes place, it will be in NYC, just like almost every other time, which makes no sense because New York, as great as it is, isn't a place where a huge film premiere should take place, especially for the final HP. Great. <_< |
So I'm guessing the American premier will be on the 9th? What about the promotion on TV? Like Regis and Kelly, Ellen, Conan, etc? Dan won't do these? If so, that's really sad. |
Wow I can't believe they are going to have dark days on a Friday and Saturday!! That's insane. |
I can't believe it kind of clashes with DH 2! :faint: |
Wow!! |

Great to know he's coming to the London premiere  |
That's great!!!!!!♥ |
Whew! I was wondering whether the media was blowing things out of proportion or not. I do hope WB has something about the US premiere soon, though. |
Um, I am a Dan Radcliffe fan and all but why isn't he Paying for the bought out house for the theatre? It's in his contract to promote the movie. If that was a conflict with Succeed in Business it's his responsiblity to to sort out. Now that he is a grown up and all. |

So why would WB pay for something he is obliged to do?This story isn't clear. |
i would imagine that the media is making a mountain out of a molehill just to create 'friction' We all knew Dan was in NY for the run, so i'm sure WBs also knew he was in NY for the run, as the theatre people also knew. So i'm sure all of this was sorted well in advance. When HP6 was suddenly delayed sections of the media tried to pin that onto Dan's role in equus. WB sometimes can be a bit slow in reacting to these 'rumours' leaving Dan the butt of criticism. |

WOW. But... okay, I didn't know that the performances would be running for THAT long. Secondly, this means he probably won't attend any other HP premiere because of this play. Not like I'd be able to go to NYC, anyways. |
The theatre people knew that Dan had to do that promotional work, and most probably there will be more than those three days. This morning I read on the NY Times that it was going to be about five dates. |
Awesome somewhere Dan will be promoting DH2 on my birthday 7/9!! WOOHOO!! |
poor thing (daniel) he is going to have to perform on wed (twice) catch a plane to London, premiere the movie...it looks like there will be 2 events, 2 different places in london :0 on thursday then I am guessing friday will be the NYC premiere and then perform again Sat night... the jetlag is going to kill him... :S :( I feel so bad for them sometimes...yes they earn a lot of money, they wear nice things, they meet a lot of important people, they have all they want (material) but they have to work for it (a lot). Because they not only has to do all the above but look good and pleasant while doing it. He cant seem tired while performing. Or he cant be rude because he is tired while giving interviews at the red carpets... Bottom line is... I have a lot of respect for them!!! I love that they do what they do and appreciate their talent and time and youth. Wish them the best!!! :) |
I'm glad that he'll be able to take time off for the HP premiere! But this might make things hectic for him, :erm: Oh well, I bet he's used to it .. <3 |
