GroundsHave a case of cabin castle fever? Best to take a break from all the stone corridors and go hang out by the lake, or explore the expansive school grounds. Don't forgive to send your regards to Bartholomew Henry!
Standing squarely in the middle of an otherwise featureless lawn is an immense oak tree with sprawling, high-reaching branches, its foliage thick and rich with natural colour, depending on the time of year. The tree is taller than it has any right to be, and seems ideal for climbing. That is, indeed, what your benevolent groundskeeper had in mind when he grew it.
The very lowest branches jut out six feet or so above the ground, but if you can't reach or haul yourself onto these, there are little nooks and conveniently located knots in the trunk to get you started. Up in the higher branches, you'll find platforms and maybe a basic treehouse structure or two, but the real fun to be had is in traversing the tree itself.
Climbing tree though it is, this area also serves as a pleasant meeting place, the vast canopy of leaves providing plenty of shade in the summer months. A plank swing dangles from one of the lower branches, and a tyre swing from another.
It's pretty difficult to confuse this tree with the Whomping Willow. For starters, you're in an entirely different part of the grounds. Not to mention, the climbing tree is an oak, and (presumably) won't maim you for trying to climb it. All the same, you're expected to treat this place with respect. Don't act like a fool, especially when you're high up in the tree. If you do happen to fall, the slowing and softening charms in place around this area will kick in, and you will come to no great harm.
Do as you please here, as long as its within school rules. Relax. Have fun. Go wild (but maybe not too wild).

The two had definitely contributed to his once skinny frame now being a tad athletic. Oh yes, Gobstones might have helped too.

Unlike her very handsome boyfriend, Bry had been a frequent visitor to the climbing tree over the past several years. Climbing this tree, (climbing anything really!) was a beneficial part of her ninja warrior training. So while it might not always look like it, this small blonde was strong! If anyone should know that, it was Ary. The poor boy had been dealing with all her antics for fifteen years now.

Bry was welcome to think that she was right with respect to how much he intended to hang out at this Tree. Ary bursting her bubble by sending a good sort of surprise her way when the time came. He also knew that she would never find him boring, which he still hardly dared to believe sometimes. He always chalked it up to Bry being blind when it came to him but he loved her all the same.
“I dunno. I’m just as surprised as you are,’’ he called, not pausing to dish out the response. But he was puffing slightly and his arms were aching even more. Maybe he wouldn’t be able to make it all the way to the top… well, there was no shame in admitting some level of defeat. So, when the next platform appeared on his ascent, the fifth year took it as a sign to step onto it. Flexing his arms to get the soreness out of them, he peered down at Bry as he watched her climb. “My arms hurt. Can't go no more.” He bet hers didn’t though.

She certainly would be doing just that. Ary was allowed to surprise her anytime he wanted, no questions asked. Hm, maybe she was truly blind when it came to him. What could she do though? It wasn't her fault she knew that she loved him from the very start. The boy could do no wrong.
Ha! Bry could be heard giggling from a branch below. "Have you been keeping secrets from me, Aryan?" she asked teasingly. He had obviously been practicing behind her back or something. Pausing briefly to look above her as he stepped onto the platform, Bry tilted her head. "Really? You're done climbing then?" Because if she was, she would join him on that platform and they could sit together until Ary was ready to climb back down. Or.. was he trying to trick her?! Bry didn't think he would do that but one couldn't be too aure during a race.

He had heard those giggles alright. “I have not, Bryony. You know I’ve started working out a little with dad.” Yes, he really had finally made up his mind though sometimes he would mumble complaints, cover his face with his pillow and go back to sleep when Dad Adi came to wake him up at ridiculously early hours in the morning. Ary knew that the habit would have to change soon if he wanted to head the Reserve someday; after all, his fathers were up way before dawn to tend to the creatures.
Ary had no intentions of tricking Bry. In fact, he was quite ready to flop down on the platform. “Yup, all done for today.” He stuck a hand out for her to take so he could help her make it to the platform safely. “I would like to point out I still won, since I was closer to the top of the Tree first.” Yup, it was a fact that was crystal.

At the confirmation that Ary was indeed finished climbing, Bryony accepted his offered hand once she was close enough. Anyway, Ary wasn’t questioning this latest development; simply going along with the flow was best. “I’d like that.” He trusted Bry’s ability to instruct another when it came to workouts. “When do we start?”
Of course! What sort of boyfriend would he be if he did not continue to look out for Bry’s safety? Yes, he knew she was more than capable of taking care of herself but still… Ary positioned himself close to Bry, following her lead by letting his legs hang over the edge. He allowed them to move to and fro. “For exactly those reasons,’’ he said, smiling charmingly. “I’ll let you win next time, how’s that?”

She may have had a good point, but so did he. "Of course I have." All her life she has knew Uncle Adi and exactly what he's like. "Perfect! We can start tomorrow if you want." Bry smiled brightly. Working out together was going to be so much fun! The way they always looked out for one another and gave each other the gentle pushes that they needed to succeed was going to really help them both. This much she was sure of. Not to mention the fact that it would allow them to spend even more time together was a major plus in her eyes.

Ary had visions of himself rising earlier than usual, just like he had to at home on some mornings. The thought made him inwardly groan. Why did Bry want to start tomorrow? But then again, of course she did. This sort of thing was embedded in the girlfriend since they were both tiny. “Okay, tomorrow it is. I know you’ve now gotten some more good points in dad’s book by helping me train. Not that you need them, of course.’’ Dad Adi loved Bry a lot.
Ary let Bry settle as comfortably as she wanted beside him then he playfully bopped his temple against her head. “Uh huh,’’ he said calmly, his tone betraying the amusement he felt. He might not be laughing but his voice surely was. “I don't need to,’’ he agreed. “I just wanted to be nice by letting you win.”

Ary knew that awakening early was best since he intended on taking over the Reserve. His fathers rose early to get started on tending to the Griffs and Dragons each day, and he would eventually have to do the same. He was also reminded that at his age, Dad Adi had already started waking extra early in order to do runs around Hogwarts’ grounds. Ary now stuck his tongue out at Bry. “Whatever makes you sleep at night.” But what she had said was true: Dad Adi loved her a whole lot!
He didn’t know about all that… Ary still thought of himself as a regular, boring guy but he wasn’t oblivious to how Bry thought of him. Those words made him burst into laughter; he barely paid attention to her serious tone because he knew she wasn’t being that way. That look and grin said it all. “Yeah, okay. I’ll let you believe that. You’ll see that it’ll be me who wins tomorrow.” Ary wasn’t fully confident about that but he did love a good competition. “So, what workouts are we going to tackle then?”

Good! Knowing what needed to be done, and what needed to be worked on was what would get them moving forward in the right direction. Aryan had nothing to worry about when it came to getting up early. Rising before the sun most days was normal for her, keeping herself active and in shape was helpful towards her own goals. Not to mention that one day, she'd be running the reserve alongside him. Yes, she knew it was going to happen. Bry giggled. "You know it's true! I'm his favorite right after you and your siblings." She knew that his papa's loved her.
Blah, blah, blah. When was he going to get it into his head that she knew everything?! Did she have to drag him around and ask everyone they came across? But sacrifices must be made if one wanted to achieve something, right? And he wanted to achieve a lot! For now, Ary considered Bry’s words. “I think he likes you the same amount he likes his children.’’ That was another way of saying that Dad Adi considered her as another daughter.
Being dragged around… that sounded exhausting and quite a lot of work on Bry. So, Ary would rather they eliminate going through that entire process. His grin remained in place after she elbowed him. “Yes, we shall see.” This challenge would be enough to keep them on their toes each day. The boy considered the suggestions. “Those are great ideas. I think I’ll even be up for the Ninja course.” He knew that would make Bry extra happy, and besides… Ary honestly felt he was ready to give it a shot.

Sleep? Who needed sleep? Not this girl. And now, not the boyfriend either. Sure, she loved sleep as much as the next person but getting up early was needed in order to accomplish all that she did throughout the day. Which was a tremendous amount! Just like Ary, Bry had high hopes for their futures (together obviously!) but also for things on their own walks of life. Such a bright smile continued to remain on her face. Could he tell that she was already looking forward to tomorrow?
