| | Courtyard The Courtyard is where the students spend their time between lessons if they’re not in their Common Room or the Great Hall. Its architecture reveals the Courtyard to be one of the oldest parts of the castle. It connects the castle with the Grounds and also leads to the Wooden Bridge. In between classes, the Courtyard is usually filled with students enjoying some sun before heading back into the castle again. Whether you choose to occupy one of the many stone benches or enjoy a picnic in the warm lush grass, the Courtyard is the perfect place to relax with your friends from all houses.
In the middle of the Courtyard stands an antique ceramic fountain, perfect for admiring your own reflection or making wishes at. Be aware that once your coin has been tossed into the water, you may never get it back as it will continue to sink. Be careful not to fall in as an attempt of retrieving it, the staff does not usually fancy a swim in the fountain to fetch little students.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jacoby Rivers Hufflepuff Sixth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Callista Rivers Gryffindor Second Year | mentions of Louise Stealthy Ninja Queen | Snake For Life | waddling baker | binge royalty ♚ Looking at the headmaster with disbelief. Did he just say that they now had a pool for everyone? That didn't seem right. She had just gotten a detention for not participating in a class to his standards. How could he suddenly decide that they deserved a pool. Wait heated? Oh boy could this be fun if it wasn't a trap or trick. Charlie glanced at Louise to hear her mention a spa, a spa she could be on board with.
Would anyone actually go and--Oh there went one, she was actually surprised to see someone run for their swimsuit. Honestly she was debating herself. "Are you going to grab your swim suit Louise?"

She wondered why she was feeling drawn to this place, but she didn't dwell on this feeling too much. She instead stood at the edge of the pool, looking down on it and contemplating how many warming charms it would take to make it swimmable this time of year???

Mamie called April a perfectly acceptable time to start swimming outside. Assuming the pool was heated, of course, and she'd heard that the new courtyard pool was. Decked out in her suit from her old Muggle swim team, goggles, and sweatpants, she arrived in the courtyard. She spotted one of the older students standing by the pool, so picked a different spot to get ready. "Hi!" she greeted the other girl brightly as she piled her shoes, towel, and sweatpants on the ground. She made sure her hair was secure in her two braids, then sat down at the edge and swung her feet in. "It's not too cold!" she said before plunging in. Mamie's version of "not too cold" was probably a little more generous to the cold side than a normal person, but she'd had plenty of practice with swimming in all weather. |

Bernadette stared as a younger Hufflepuff, one she recognized from classes, simply plodded in, swimming gear on, and proceeded to get right in the pool as though it were the giant bathtub in the prefects' bathroom and not right here in the middle of the courtyard.
"Is it more like a hot tub then?" Bernie inquired, setting down on the edge and deciding to dip her legs in. She started the process of tugging off her boots and then her socks, being careful not to lose her wand as it clattered to the ground from her usual hiding spot for it. Bernie tucked the wand into her bun for now, next rolling up her pants to her knees and then finally sticking her feet into the water at the side of the pool.
BRR! Actually.... it only took a moment before it felt okay. Bernie wiggled her toes gleefully. "Could be a few degrees warmer though," she commented idly, getting her wand out from her hair so she could cast a hot air charm at the bit of pool by her feet. Still, this was a nice improvement to the castle, she thought.

Mamie exclaimed gleefully before pushing off from the wall and gliding toward the other end of the pool on her back. She had really been sad at the thought of going a whole school year with no swimming. She'd written home the new pool, though. Her parents and Babulya had been happy for her, and she was pleased she would not be so out of practice when she went home for the summer.
She righted herself and looked at the other girl. "Are you going to get in?" She really didn't count feet-only as being in the pool. She thought Gryffindors were meant to be brave, but maybe this one was being cautious. "Do you know how to swim?" |

Bernie wouldn't go THAT far to describe the water's temp, but then again, she wasn't submerged in it. Wasn't it warmer when you went all the way in? AND, to tell the truth, Bernie HAD put her swimsuit on under her robes here just in case there was a chance of swimming...
"I mean, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah," Bernie drawled, starting to shrug off her robe to reveal her red one-piece underneath. "I GUESS I'll give it a try." It did feel great on her feet now that she'd cast that small warming charm. She hurried to tidy up her boots and her robe and her wand, and then went ahead and did a big cannonball into the water.
Could she swim? "I c-c-can swim," Bernie chattered as she emerged from beneath the pool's surface. BRRRR, okay?! It was a bit colder than a July afternoon. Bernie began doggy-paddling toward the first year. "Where did you learn to swim?" Or was she part-fish or something?!

Violet arrived in the courtyard, still carefully carrying their snake, Bernard (okay, she'd named him, but he had to have a name, didn't he?). She looked over her shoulder to make sure her partner, Tom was following. "This should be a good starting place for a divination. Come on, we'll put him down and see what he does."

That was one way to make an entrance. She frolicked about in the water like she belonged there. She certainly felt like she did. Even if she was starting to admit the pool wasn't the perfect temperature. About one degree warmer would probably be the perfect temperature. "I'm on a swimming team back home!" she told Bernie. "We practice first thing in the morning, so sometimes it's still chilly out!" There really was nothing better than swimming first thing on a summer day, and then having the whole day left to...do nothing. Or do other fun activities. Or chores. "You're-you're a Gryffindor, right?" The red swimsuit would have given it away if Mamie hadn't already recognized the girl from classes. She was really glad she didn't have to wear a yellow swimsuit, yellow was really not her color. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Max Krauss-Marshall Slytherin First Year | Divination~ books and cleverness | i like you a latte Running all the way from the pathways to the courtyard, Irithel stopped for a few moments to catch her breath. This place must be safe - she could see other students here working on their divination task, so she was not alone. "Sorry little guy, did I scare you? I had to leave that place quickly because you told me it's dangerous," she whispered to her snake and patted it gently. When she thought it had calmed down (she couldn't really tell), she set it down on the grass and let it do its job. This time, it immediately curled in a defensive ball, which means that danger is near again. Too alarmed to take notes, she turned around to alert the other students and find the source of danger. But when her eyes landed on the new swimming pool, her fear vanished entirely, instead replaced by immense anger. "HOW DARE YOU spend my treasure on such FOOLISHNESS. You will pay for this!"
With that, she began to destroy the pool with strength that she would usually never be able to muster.

Tom still wasn't sure about this snake, seriously any second now he was going to have to yell for help for Violet, didn't she know how dangerous they were, people always thought that snakes were fun and epic but he knew different and he was watching this snake like a hawk, making sure that it didn't do anything to Violet.
When they arrived at he pathway, he heard Violet speak. 'WHAT?' Okay this was crazy, no way should they put it down, It could do anything then. "You sure that's a wise idea?" He didn't want to be responsible for a snake on the run.

Caledon Roth The Leaky Cauldron | Divination activity post #2 Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll After leaving the butterfly garden, Heath’s next stop was the courtyard. He hadn’t set foot in this area of the grounds since that ridiculous pool went in. He didn’t trust it, even before the talk of treasure and ghosts began! Given Headmaster Trent’s erratic behavior this term, how could he be sure that it wasn’t filled with bubotuber pus or hiding some invisible water monster or any manner of other danger? His dark eyes nervously scanned the area. He just wanted to get this reading done and get out of here before anything weird happened!
Carefully lifting Baby Yoda off his shoulders, he set the little snake on the ground in front of him. He half-expected Baby Yoda to slither over to him, just like he/she did in the butterfly garden, but instead, the snake began to slither in the opposite direction of the pool as fast as it could carry itself. “Wait for me, Baby Yoda!” he called, running after the snake so as not to lose sight of it as it slithered away.
Finally catching up to the snake, he gently picked it up, allowing it to return to its usual place on his shoulders. He didn’t have to look at the list of interpretations to know that Baby Yoda running slithering away meant this place was bad news! He’d write down his observations once he rejoined the lesson, but for now, he was going to take a page out of Baby Yoda’s book and get as far from this place as he could.

"YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS WITH BLOOD."
And so Bernadette, or whoever was running her at the moment, put her hands on the other girl's shoulders in an attempt to force her beneath the surface of the pool.

She was sympathetic to Tom's fear, she really was--she felt the same way about heights--but she was not going to lose points over a phobia. "Here, you stand over there and observe what it does, and I'll put it down and stay next to it, and I can catch it if it tries to get away. I've had a lot of experience picking up snakes, it'll be fine." And without waiting for another excuse from her partner, Violet crouched on the ground, slowly opened her hands, and allowed the snake to creep down onto the pavement. It immediately curled up into a tight little coil.
Uh, that wasn't good--the teacher's notes had said that meant that danger was near. "Uh...I think it's scared. Maybe we should try another spot--maybe over by the Duck Pond?" Violet was hoping being near the water would calm their snake.

Mamie flailed when the other girl grabbed onto her, trying to keep them both above the water. She was unfortunately smaller than the older girl. She gasped for air and briefly screamed but then went underwater.
What was wrong with this girl? They'd been getting along great, then the other girl started shouting about blood. Whose blood? This was not fun!
Mamie was busy punching and kicking and clawing at the older girl underneath the water, putting up a fight to get out of her grasp, so she could swim back to the surface for more air. Getting drowned by another student was not on the agenda today! |

She seemed oblivious to the clawing and struggling of the other girl as she grew closer and closer to drowning her entirely. "TELL TRENT TO RETURN THE TREASURE... OR STUDENTS WILL DIE," she intoned in that same eerie, deep voice. "I WILL NOT WARN YOU AGAIN!"
And with one last shove of the Hufflepuff's head underwater, Bernadette let up and swam off, cheery as a swan on a Sunday morning, completely clear of conscience and blinking a few times as though nothing at all had just happened.

Mamie gasped for air as the Gryffindor finally let her up, and after catching her breath a little bit made a beeline for the closest wall of the pool. She clung to it, still breathing heavily. When she finally had air to spare, she turned to shout in the direction of the Bernadette. "What is wrong with you!?! You are crazy!" If she had all her wits about her, she might've realized that it wasn't really Bernadette's fault, but she was truly frazzled.
She heaved herself out of the pool, rolling away from the edge of the wall and up to her knees. She needed to go to the Hospital wing, probably. You were supposed to get a checkup if you'd almost drowned, right? And cold, it was cold. She should dry off and bundle up. Frowning, Mamie slowly got to her feet and walked steadily over to her pile of clothes and towel and wand and shoes. Brrrr...she pulled her clothes and shoes on without remembering to dry off first. Hospital wing? Right? She should probably go there. Mamie started walking in that direction.

People had said that before, but that was usually when she was pranking people or up to something or trying to be funny. She and the girl had been getting along and talking about swimming... but now she was getting out of the pool and running off?
"Um, okay, nice to meet you," Bernie frowned at her, continuing her swimming. Now that she had the place to herself, she might as well enjoy it.
