Rain or shine, the Great Hall continues to be the hub of the school. Four long tables, one for each House as defined by the banners floating above them, are stationed in the enormous room facing the raised table reserved for the school staff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. Mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages are at your fingertips.
Whether you arrived for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on time or late, feel free to dig in as the headmaster has no speech to give. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables while sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves. Just remember to display proper eating etiquette and don't get any funny ideas. Food is to be eaten, not thrown across the dining room. Wasting food will come at a price that you will not like to pay.

Indeed Claudine had spooky jack-o-lanterns, and she was rather proud of them. Even the sad one. Oddly enough, she felt attached to Mr. Sad so she decided to keep that one. It would look good in her dorm. Anyway. One of the places she had chosen to decorate was The Great Hall. The Slytherin Table to be exact.
The Snakette stood there balancing the two pumpkins in hand, trying to decide the best place on the table to place one. In the end, she decided to place it towards the edge of the table; the edge that faced the entrance to the Great Hall. That way, when one came into the Hall, they’d see the pumpkin hopefully almost immediately.
Scarlett had ALREADY started taking NOTES and writing on the parchment when she could TELL someone took a seat across from her. She quickly glanced up and before she could look back down at her work the girl greeted her. "Hi!!" The first year greeted back with a friendly smile, not taking the quill from her parchment as she finished whatever she was scribbling down without looking. "No, never! NOTHING of mine gets in the way of food EVER!!!!" She was grinning but it wasn't even a JOKE. She truly meant it. "Ever." She added for good MEASURE. IT WAS TRUE.
Next thing she did was to gesture with her head towards the area to the right of her stuff. "That's my area." She informed the other girl. Meaning her FOOD area, yep! The elves knew to send her LOADS!!!!!!!!!! Or, well, they sent loads to the whole table every time and Scarlett was good at stuffing her face no matter where she sit. "Besides, it's kind of FUN to see how FAST I can put my things away when food's about to appear!" NOT that she was ever bothered to really TIME it, that'd make it take LONGER and she was NOT here for that. She was there for the FOOD and FOOD ONLY!!!!!!!!!
And getting some homework done in the meantime so she could have more free time LATER. "You're early, though." She casually commented, going back to looking down at her parchment and scribbling things down. Aaaaaaand once again it didn't occur to Scarlett to introduce herself. Typical.
She raised her eyebrows at the first year greeted her without breaking her stroke of the quill. Was she at the right table? Margaret knew she was, but this kid was acting like whatever she was writing was important. And nothing written was ever that important. Ever.
The written word was not the best thing before sliced bread.
She did laugh at the girl's joke, though. "Oh, I'm sure it doesn't," she said with a chuckle.. "Your area?" She sure was taking up a lot of space, then. "You know eating too fast isn't good for you, right?" Was she trying to be a know-it-all? Yes. Luckily for Scarlett, Margaret did not know much. "How fast can you put your things away, then?" Like was she talking seconds, or minutes. The only thing Mamie was fast at was flying. And running, sometimes, but she usually didn't sprint. The grounds weren't really designed for sprinting.
Maybe some corridors, though. Maybe she could claim a corridor to do sprint drills when it got too cold outside. Hmm...
She filed that thought away as she pulled out her wand. She knew she was early, didn't need to be told that (obviously, since there was no food). But she wanted to practice some wand movements, and there was always space at the table, if the food hadn't arrived yet. It was perfect. And, the imminent arrival of the food meant she had a deadline--she wouldn't lose track of time and practice all afternoon.

It didn’t get any more “I’m not interested in you” than someone making it clear they were happy that you were moving on and no longer bothering them. It was...he was probably relieved, glad she was fixating on someone else. Glad he didn’t have to deal with her need to MAKE SURE he knew how she felt. Must’ve been a real load off for him, huh?
How embarrassing. Emm was realising that she had been chasing shadows this entire time. All that false hope. All that thinking if she waited and gave him some time to mature, he’d realise he was crazy about her, too.
He was glad she was moving in.
Her insides hurt and she wanted ice cream. Emmerson kept her composure, deciding she really couldn’t keep subjecting herself to this nonsense of unrequited love~
It was better to focus on a somewhat happier topic. “Cupcakes could be nice. Some more of that bread Healer Poppy is walking around with, too. Me and Kizzy can handle the other snacks. Dress for swimming, we’re gonna make the most of this weather before it disappears. There’s probably some spells we could make use of, too.” Planning for happier times. That...that was all she could do.
Unfortunately for Emm, Sammy wasn't just going to let this die. He was sure it would just stay on his mind, rotting to pieces. And he couldn't let that happen. But he also knew that he couldn't talk about his feelings on kissing and other teenager-y things. It would mean he was admitting to any feelings of loneliness.
The bubble he was in was only getting harder to break.
Sigh.
But there was one other thing he knew: he couldn't stay quiet. It was why he took a moment to sip a glass of orange juice while he got his words together. "Sooooo....." he started, trying to distract himself with the food sitting in front of him, "How are you liking this, uh, this relationship? Does he make you happy?" It was important to ask, wasn't it?
"Cupcakes and banana bread it is," Though, he couldn't guarantee that the banana bread would turn out as good as Healer Poppy's, but he wasn't about to say that out loud. "Spells? What kind of spells?" Had they planned something? Should he be worried? There were a lot of questions here.

Emmerson took a deliberate bite of her sandwich, determined to make it through the rest of this meal with her friend she’d just promised would stay being her friend no matter what. It was probably a good sandwich. On any other day, she may have even thought it was fantastic but right now it was....just....a sandwich.
Chewing helped her ignore the aching in her heart but swallowing reminded her of the lump forming in her throat while she did her very best not to cry about this whole ordeal. There was just no winning.
Emm glanced over at him after another lacklustre bite. Relationship? It was like he was trying to rub salt in her wounds, like he wanted to add insult to injury? “.....Relationship?” Even the word hurt on its way out past her lips. How...laughable.
Ha.
“I don’t...it’s not...” She looked down to her plate, her appetite slipping away. “Ezra’s my friend. Has been for years.” She wouldn’t be his friend if he didn’t bring her joy in some form. “He agreed we could try kissing but...I don’t think he’s rushing to get into a relationship with me anymore than you or anyone else is. He’s just less opposed to the idea of kissing me than you are.” The Gryffindor never could understand what she didn’t have or why she wasn’t good enough for Samuel to be into her. That he would taunt her about her inability to get a relationship was...hurtful.
So she’d focus on something else. Their lake plans. “There’s the ascension charm we can cast on each other in the lake. Could be fun, could help with our dives. It’ll be...fun.” More fun than this conversation was turning out to be.

Lisa didn’t know when precisely she had fallen asleep but she dreamed vividly of herself being an older Ravenclaw at the House Table.
She dreamed of having blue eyes (as pretty as V’s) and beautiful hair (like Misa or her cousin, Cora). She dreamed of being taller. In her dream, she saw the world at a much higher height. This was what Ollie must have felt being so tall, she thought. So many more advantages. She was in the Great Hall with her friends. Older and younger students were with her too but she wasn’t familiar with who the younger ones were. Everyone was dressed up so nicely though so she hoped that she was too.
She glanced down at her shoes. Oh. Her nails were a pearl colour and she was wearing a pink and orange friendship bracelet. Her shoes were pink kitten heels- enough to make her appear just as tall as Ollie. And then she noticed her dress which was a beautiful silver dress. People were asking her to dance which she awkwardly declined because she didn’t dance until she was practically forced into it by Daniel of all people which shocked her. And then he was off dancing with a pretty brunette and then Jasper was there of course. She smiled as she watched him do airplanes around the dancers before spotting her and flying over. A giggle escaped her lips. She was about to ask him a question when she heard something.
She heard someone clear their throat and gently pat her back. An older Ravenclaw reminding her to get to class. She blinked thrice before rubbing her eyes to remove the sleep from them. Fishing into her bag, she pulled out her beautiful dream journal and began writing what she could remember.
