A maze of thousands upon thousands of books, the library is heaven to any book-lover. Upon entering the high-ceilinged room, the smell of books, both ancient and new, hits you. There are many tall, narrow shelves neatly lined up, each divided into different sections -- charms, potions, Muggles, fiction, and so on. If you find a book you're interested in, simply make use of the sliding ladder or summon the book with Accio to retrieve it.
But the library just isn't a labyrinth of books. In the heart of the library and on the outskirts of it are tables and seating areas designated for quiet research and reading, some with accompanying fireplaces or large stained glass windows. Tucked away in the very back of the library is the Restricted Section, which requires a key that the librarian keeps on her person at all times and permission to enter because of the more mature titles and content that are tightly locked and chained within. At the entrance stands the front desk where the school librarian can usually be found, who will happily recommend a book, check out a book for you, and help you with any of your library needs.

“Right… I know. I’m just trying to rule out every outlandish reason as to why people think we’re dating.” They we’re just good friends. She could have even offered that they were continuing on the tradition of a Yoon and Nam always being friends but she knew that Minjae was… a touchy subject so she left that thought remain in her mind. Now onto the matter of V. “Well….. she was so insistent on the you and I dating so I thought maybe that was jealousy?” she offered. Lisa thought that Daniel should give himself some more credit. He was rather cute… or becoming cuter this year. He had a nice smile.
And she still thought he had a nice smile when he stared down at her. Well from what she remembered because he looked a tad blurry. She remained quiet as she bit her bottom lip. Still in shock, she was that she had fallen. “It’s a little blurry… fuzzy? But I think you’re making a pizza? Just missing the top of it.” With that, she made a peace sign to with her right hand and then put her left index on top of the peace sign to form said pizza. She giggled before reaching up once more to massage the sorest part of her head. There would most likely be an egg there.
"Well?" Daniel asked as Lisa continued to smile but said nothing. He motioned his head in the direction of the rubbish bin near the Librarian's desk. "Do you believe it will go in or not?" It was only a piece of paper, and the worst it could do was hit one of the other students who were quietly studying somewhere nearby.
Daniel shrugged "I'm not sure. People can be narrow-minded at times, believing whatever they see or hear" People thinking they were dating meant he was keeping his adoration for her sister a good secret, and he liked it that way. Nobody was to find out. No one. Not even Maya. Because he knew he'd never have a chance with her.
V and jealousy sounded like a great match. He could see her becoming envious over something as trivial as dating. "Well, she's wrong, and so are you" he stated. V did not like him and he was certain of that.
Pizza? What was she on about? Had she hit her head so hard that she saw pizzas? Huh...Interesting. Usually, they saw 'stars'. He was about to comment when Lisa mimicked his sign by holding up her fingers and placing her index finger on top of the peace sign to form a .... pizza.
He rolled his dark brown eyes and moved to stand next to her. He stooped down and took her hand in his and wrapped his other arm around her back before pulling her up. "You need to see the Healer Mancini" It wasn't even a question.

“Yes pizza.” Now on the ground, she looked up at him. He had very pretty eyes. Honestly he was very attractive.. he just needed to smile more. “What? Why?” she asked as she was lifted up from the ground. She found herself hugging him tightly. “I have an irrational fear of Healers… Come with me yeah?”

Quite defensive. In the moment he couldn't fully process it, but it was the same flavor of defensive he would get about Aries. Little tangy and with pockets of flavor that really packed a lot of punch and made your face pucker - which was totally what was going on with Maya as her features went through a whole journey. None of which, for the record, was helping HIM with the puzzle of whether or not Lisa was trying to send him subliminal messages through literature. Which, if someone was going to do that to him, would be the niftiest way to go about it.
And that riddle wasn't as much of a riddle if one applied the principles of evolutionary biology. Dad had kind of ruined that one for him around age seven or so when he had successfully distracted the man while Aries snuck into the home office to sneak something out. Blah blah blah first amniotic eggs appearing somewhere around 340 million years ago blah blah blah first chickens evolving at the earlier around 58 thousand years ago blah blah blah...egg came first.
He would have happily educated her on this were she ever to voice it aloud.
Maya was being more confusing though. REALLY confusing. Somehow reading books about kissing frogs had now taken the turn that Maya was telling him he ought to ask Lisa out on a date, which was a plot twist he had not seen coming based on the first paragraph or so he had read. Well, a date under the condition that he did want to kiss her...which he was uncertain as to whether or not he did which was not a negative and therefore not a no so that then meant that...he...did? Warning, more inept Gryffindoring in progress. "Why would I hurt her? I always look out for her. and she has never been anything but nice and supportive to me."
First Maya was telling him he wasn't special and now she was accusing him of being a bully! How peculiar.
"You are a very curious creature, Maya Nam." It was a compliment, which hopefully the little twinkle in his eye conveyed.
And maybe he needed to write to Aunt Minnie or Unchiul Andrei for advice on asking someone out on a date.
If Maya only stopped for a moment to think, perhaps she would've realized that she had been... quite extra. Perhaps if she slowed down, they could have an incredibly pleasant conversation about the matter instead of her full on interrogating Atlas. Plus if she did take a minute, she would've been able to tell that he didn't actually have any sort of intentions towards her sister.
But she didn't slow down.
Maya's brain kept spinning faster than a teacup in an amusement park. It was honestly getting a bit dizzying. When Atlas said he wouldn't hurt Lisa, she relaxed slightly more and slumped in her seat. All of this was exhausting. "I didn't say you did hurt her or you actually would intentionally, just try to avoid it." It was nice to know that there were people looking out for Lisa other than herself and Evan. She let out a quiet sigh, feeling a bit... defeated? Though she wasn't sure why. Maya looked over at him when he said she was a curious creature and yes she had been ready to be up in arms about it until she saw his eyes.
She felt her face heat up slightly at that and looked away. "Thank you... I think?" She stood up and brushed off her clothes of any possible dirt or dust. "I'll... leave you to do your reading...?" Maya glanced at the book once more.

To add insult to injury with the situation, they both had different was of communicating as well. Though, really, if either of them took a breath to listen a little they MIGHT find out that their ways of communicating and speaking were not all that different. Not really. Also taking that breath would help with the horrible miscommunications that were going on but...alas.
"And...besides...what's to say she wouldn't accidentally hurt me," he countered innocently. "It's just an observation, but people do tend to preposition girls into the fragile role and assume that its the male is the one that will cause the hurt when without acknowledging the potential for it to be the other way around. Relationships are, after all, two ways paths...so I would hope that you would give Lisa the same sort of discussion and advice." It was not accusatory and he may as well have been reading a recipe from their Potions textbook.
But...anyway. That was entirely off topic and he was putting the shovel down now.
"You're welcome," he smiled. "It was a compliment." One that he heard dad say to mum a lot and it always made her smile and get almost giggly, so it must be a good one. "And...uh...thanks. See you in class? Maybe we can partner up sometime."

.... Daniel sighed and shook his head slightly in response to Lisa's response. "Well, this is no longer fun" he said as he tossed the crumpled paper onto the table. "If you had said i wasn't going to make it, i'd have more fun proving you wrong" Because obviously, he would have made it.
The Hufflepuff was relieved that Lisa had dropped the subject of them being seen as a couple and about V possibly liking him though.
"Why?" He repeated in an incredulous tone. Was she for real? She was a Ravenclaw, right? "Maybe because you fell to the ground, hit the back of your head, and now you have double vision. That's why" He stated. He felt a little bad about hurting the girl. Because it happened after he purposefully knocked over the inkwell to cover up his near slip-up.
Anyway, why couldn't Maya embrace him like this?
Was it because of what happened in their first year that she had an irrational fear of Healers? Wasn't it about time to move on from that? To be honest, some people didn't know how to let things go.
"Did you think i was going to let you go to the Healer alone?" he may be a jerk sometimes, but when it came to his friend(s), he was extremely loyal. Just ignore the fact that he had been the cause of her injury...

She would have poked her tongue out at his response but she made a mental note to challenge him later.
As she stared up at him, his words washed over her at first before she jumped in to reply. She was just... in a weird headspace as she gazed back at him. "Oh." It was a lame response but she was also fixed upon his eyes... He had really nice eyes. She had never noticed that before. Or perhaps she had hit her head wayyy too much.
Lisa did have a lack of trust in Healers after Healer Poppy. She tried to avoid doctors and healers alike. She was perfectly healthy on her on. She bit her lip when he asked if he was going to let her go to the Healer on her own.. "I..." she began before pausing. "I... I thank you..." That was all that she'd say to him as she flashed a grateful smile in his direction. "I'm glad we're friends."
She tried to get to her knees but felt a little dizzy so she paused and took a LARGE deep breath. Closing her eyes momentarily, she focused on the stillness around her before she opened both eyes to glance at him. Smirk present on her lips, she asked, "Can we continue the competition after we see the Healer? I'd like to see your reaction when I win." She liked being right.

Usually Desiree’s trips to the library were just for fun, but today she was on a mission. Bypassing her favorite fiction books, she beelined instead for the charms section. She wanted - no, she needed to learn Impervius and Tergeo, but neither spell was in The Standard Book of Spells, grade 1! Maybe the library would have some extra textbooks for the upper years?
The problem was she didn’t know which year the spells were taught! She really should’ve thought to ask her dad before coming here, but oh well. Too late now! She’d just have to look through alllll the charms textbooks until she found what she was looking for. She found the books for years 2-4 easily, but the books for years 5-7 were on a higher shelf, too high for her to reach on her own. Boo! Being short was no fun sometimes! Better go get the sliding ladder…

Jude, being the very reliable younger brother that he was, had offered to pass by the library to get some books for Reagan. With OWLs approaching, Rea was feeling the pressure of the exams. Jude had made her some treacle scones earlier just to help ease her stress. And when the Gryffindor mentioned she needed Charms and Transfiguration books, he had bounded right up and made his way to the library. After checking a few texts out, he would return to Rea to help her study.
Two Transfiguration textbooks in hand, the Hufflepuff headed for the Charms section and almost ran into a first year. “Hey, Desiree!” Jude smiled warmly at his Housemate. “Catching up on some research?” Perhaps it was for homework because end of term exams were a mile away.

Desiree tucked the charms textbooks she’d already found under her arm and went to find the sliding ladder so she could get the other ones down. She made her way down the row of bookshelves, quietly humming Disney song to herself. Suddenly an older student appeared out of nowhere and nearly bumped into her. She did a graceful sidestep, almost like a ballet move, just in time to avoid colliding.
“Oh! Hi, Jude!” she replied, smiling. Her eyes shifted from her housemate to the books under her arm. “Sort of. I want to learn Impervius and Tergeo, but those spells aren’t in the first year book. Hopefully they’re in one of these.” Her dark hair bounced as she jerked her head toward the books. Did Jude know which year those spells were covered? If he did, it would save her the trouble of sifting through six whole textbooks!
Then she noticed the books he was carrying. Ooh, transfiguration! That class was really hard! But it was mostly fun, and she usually didn’t have to worry about getting dirty there. “Doing some transfiguration homework?” she asked. She couldn’t remember what the homework assignment was! She was a little too distracted playing her favorite game of “Guess Which Disney Character the Professor Looks Like” last lesson to pay attention.

Desiree was graceful, had she ever realised this fact? Jude could appreciate gracefulness since he was a dancer. His attention moved to the books then back to Desiree. He was thoughtful. Both those spells were advanced for Desiree’s age but clearly she was keen on learning them. “Why those spells in particular?” The fourth year would offer to help her with at least one but he was curious as to why Desiree had chosen the two spells.
“Nope, these are for Reagan. She’s got homework, lots of essays in preparation for OWLs so I told her I’d help by grabbing these textbooks for her.” Next year he would be the one making all the preparations for OWLs; how the pressure would be handled Jude did not know. “I think she’s buckling under all the pressure,” he continued thoughtfully. “I’m trying my best to ease that for her.” Poor strong, loud Rea. Not even auditioning for acting parts made her feel this pressured.

Meda was excited to be holding a book club meeting and she hoped the little twist she had on this evenings events would make it so much more fun. She really wanted it to go well and she had been working on it for the last few days. Checking the library to make sure the refreshments were in order, the seating was comfortable, and that all the supplies they would need were in place.
Walking to her desk she made a few quick check ins and sent them to their shelves, the only thing left was to make sure the restricted section was secure and wait for her booktastic fun to start.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Aria didn’t read much, honestly. Unless you counted her Hogwarts books and fashion magazines. Yet, here she was, at the Library for a book club meeting. At least there were refreshments. Aria decided that she could indulge an extra cookie or two today. It was a good thing she didn’t put on weight easily!
“Hello, hello, professor!’’ the young Slytherin greeted with giddy enthusiasm and energy. She positively bounced towards Euka’s desk. “Are we going to be focusing on a particular book today? If we are, chances are that I haven’t read it.”
Violet was excited about the Book Club meeting, because she loved books even more than she did chess. And definitely more than she was interested in collecting chocolate frog cards.
"Hello, Professor, anything special planned for this meeting?" she said cheerfully as she entered.
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...
Meda couldn't help but smile when the first of the students came in. "Good evening, I hope you haven't gotten to full from dinner. I have some snacks and drinks ready and waiting." The elves had done well for her for this little event, but they always did.
"We aren't going to be focusing on just one book today, but maybe a few, so no worries if you haven't read any. We will pick a book to start reading after today's little meeting." As violet came in Meda couldn't hide the excitement she had over today. "Actually I have something super fun planned so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did planning it."
Getting a cup of tea for herself she found a seat. "While we wait just a few more minutes, why don't we discuss some books you might want to read as a group. Any suggestions?"
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Aria’s face fell slightly. She expected them to focus on one book but multiple? Well… she was going to be the odd one out at the club it seemed. This realisation did not bother her in the least because if she did decide to show up at the next meeting, there was a slight chance she would have done the reading of the book Euka chose during this one.
The Slytherin selected a huge chocolate chip cookie for herself as she considered Euka’s question, though her mind was equally on the ‘super fun’ thing in store for the group. “Something that involves ladies and fashionable clothing!”
Milo had never yet attended a book club meeting, not having attempted to officially join it... though perhaps there was no 'official' joining up process. He didn't know. He'd never looked into it.
He did, however, spend a decent portion of his time in the library, looking for things that might interest him, or otherwise just sitting quietly and waiting for words to reach him if they so decided to float his way. Lurkadaisical. Aimless and unenthusiastic sneaking and lurking, often in quiet places. That was what he was being, until, that is, Milo suddenly poked his head out from an aisle of shelves, and into the club meeting. The rest of him stayed in the stacks.
Maybe he might have had a suggestion about a book to read, being a fairly avid reader, but if he did he kept it to himself. All he ended up doing, in fact, was silently watch the others. Anyway, reading was better done solo, just as most things were.

She sipped her tea and waited for a few moments for others to join, her excitement getting the better of her. "Why don't we get started and if others join that will be great as well." As to the fashionable thought for books she grinned, "I could think of a few that would go with that." She enjoyed any suggestions given, since she wanted this club to be about the students selection.
"Now I have something very different today. We aren't going to just stay in the library. I have spent a bit of time picking the best selections of books to hide around the castle and we are going to do a scavenger hunt today, but first I want to introduce you to the most interesting, well in my mind at least, muggle invention." She picked up a instax mini and showed it to the group. [b] "This is a camera that prints a picture the minute you take the picture. We will be using these for our scavenger hunt today, so why don't you each come grab on. There should be enough for everyone."
See using cameras was so much fun and a twist for a book club.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Aria placed a napkin across her lap, broke off a small piece of the cookie then popped it into her mouth. Very ladylike of her, she knew. The cookie was yummy and already she was casting a glance at the general snack area, contemplating on a second. But she really shouldn’t.
Hopefully the discussion would be enough to distract her? Euka’s words did, actually. “Of course you do, professor! I’d love to have their names sometime!’’ Who knows, this might be the time in her life when she opened up her horizons to reading actual books.
OOOH! This was definitely a scavenger hunt! The instax mini was something Aria knew about but only through one of her many magazines. Placing the cookie on her tissue then setting ti aside, she went to grab one of the contraptions. Fascinating thing this was. Muggles and their wonderful inventions!
Violet was finishing off a large cup of very strong tea with just a dollop of milk when she heard the suggestion about fashion books and groaned inwardly. She hoped they would not be focusing on that! But then Professor Euka went on to say they would be looking at lots of different books, so that was okay, so she relaxed again. But then--oh no, another scavenger hunt! This was like that chocolate frog club all over again. Why couldn't they just let a student sit quietly for an hour with a nice cup of tea for a change?
Walking over to pick up a camera, she eyed it curiously. "So, how does this thing work? Do you just point it and...it just takes a picture? How does it know when you're ready?" Violet had never seen anything like this before. A stray thought came into her mind that this was just the sort of thing Professor Schmoe would have loved, and she suddenly missed him.
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...
She couldn't help but grin when the group got excited about the cameras, though she waited for everyone to be finished getting them and talking before she started to talk. Having one already in her hands she smiled, "It is a pretty great invention." She grinned before taking it out of the case. "The first thing you do is turn it on. To turn it on you will push the power button right here." Showing them the power button and turning it on she showed the green light.
"Now to take a picture you will look through this little opening. You will want to make sure it is focused, then when you are ready to take the picture you just push this button here." Lifting the camera to her eye she focused it,
"Smile"
Taking the picture she watched as it printed it and she showed it around to the group.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Aria had a fair idea of how the contraption worked but she was secretly grateful Violet asked. The last thing she needed was to break this thing beyond repair {did Reparo even work on complicated and intricate Muggle technology?} and so that would mean her fathers would have to replace it.
Following Euka’s lead, Aria located the power button and pushed it. Oh look! It was powering up! For taking a picture, look through the opening, focus and then press another button. That was easy enough.
OOOH! Picture time!
The Slytherin put on her most mature and dazzling smile. She even struck a pose by placing her right hand on her hip. It was interesting to watch the picture being printed, a picture in which she thought she looked quite stunning, thank you very much.
“This device is a pretty nifty creation!’’ Because Aria was quite taken with it.

Violet had turned her own camera on as soon as the teacher showed them which button. But she thought saying, "Focus it" was an inadequate instruction and it took her a bit of fiddling before she figured out how to do that part, since she hadn't quite seen what Professor Euka had done with hers.

So--practice picture, eh? Violet turned to see Aria taking a picture of herself (what a surprise!) and on impulse, Violet took a picture of the other girl in the act. A picture of a girl taking a picture of herself--Violet thought it looked quite good and made a statement, too--about something. Hmm, this was intriguing. Violet had always used words to express herself and the idea of using images to tell a story was new to her, but it definitely had possibilities.
Milo did not particularly care about cameras, as a general concept. He preferred looking at photographs - sometimes, some kinds - but also didn't particularly care about photography as an art form. Objectively appreciate, yes. Care about, no.
But he wanted a closer look at one of those cameras, and it was enough for him to invite himself to join the book club for today. Tiptoeing out from the shelves, Milo reached out and took one, and turned it over in his hands. "How are you using them for the scavenger hunt?" he asked Ms Euka, without looking in her direction. "For evidence?"
He inadvertently clicked the button, and the camera flashed, instantly taking and printing a photo of his odd-socked feet.

She smiled as they practiced with their cameras. These inventions were one of her favorites, especially since they were easy to use, carry, and the picture came right away.
"Great question Milo, you will be using it as evidence. I have hidden books on three different floors. I have envelopes for each of you. In this envelope there are clues to the first book. There will be an envelope near the book for you to look at when you find it, but first take a selfie of yourself with the book. I want you to leave the book and the envelope with the next clue so that everyone gets a chance to find them and use them, hence why the cameras come in handy. Now you can work together or on your own.
This little game was something I thought would be a fun way to learn about some new books and have a little competition as well. Now when you are ready come on up for your first envelope."
She had the envelopes on the table, "Oh and take a water or a snack for your trip if you like."
Let the game begin!
SPOILER!!: First clue
Don't think too much and please be quiet, because this first isn't far away. This book likes to hang around other books that are the same, but unlike the other books it is just a story where as the others are locked up for their glory.
** In the first post where the book is located there has been an open book emoji added. I will watch for you to post, once you post in the thread where the book is found I will post the so you know the exact location, title, and the next envelope for you so you can interact more at each spot! I hope you have fun with this <3
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
It was no surprise that Aria saw Violet take a picture of her. Aria adored any camera pointing in her direction and so {after a moment of finishing up with her first pose} she wiggled her fingers in her Housemate’s direction. This was such fun! But Milo with the interesting odd socks had an interesting question. Just what would they be using these contraptions for?
OHHH!
THAT’S what they would be doing! All the instructions went through her head and yes, Aria thought she understood them. She went to take an envelope and began reading through the clue. An idea immediately came to mind but first…. “Does anyone want to partner with me?’’ If not, she’d just head to the Restriction section of the library to do some stalking.
