Default Quidditch & Gobstones Guidelines

All Sorted members can 'tryout' IC to have one of their Hogwarts RPG characters join their house quidditch or gobstones teams by filling out the appropriate questionnaire. Just like students have to try out for their house teams every year, you too will be required to fill out the questionnaire each new term for your character(s) to be considered for their house teams. The questionnaire will only be available during the first two weeks of each term in the OOC months of September, January, and May.

Before submitting a questionnaire, please make sure to read through this thread in its entirety!

Because these house teams and the positions on them are entirely IC, other than tryouts there will not be actual matches or practices played out although there may be some terms where practices are conducted. Captains for the house quidditch and gobstones teams will be filled by NPCs for the time being. IC practices for quidditch will take place on the pitch and IC practices for gobstones will take place in a classroom on the second floor of Hogwarts castle.

How does my character(s) qualify for their house teams?
In character (IC) any character with an interest can 'tryout' for either of their house teams!. Out of character (OOC), the house quidditch and gobstones teams have essentially the same qualification standards with a minor exception.

Post requirements
Before you begin filling out the appropriate questionnaire, you must collect three RP posts in the Hogwarts RPG forum (the Hogsmeade forum and opening/closing feast forum are included but the Hogwarts Express forum is not) proving your RPing activity here on SnitchSeeker. These may be from the previous term or the current term so long as you provide three unique posts of activity that have been made prior to the conclusion of the 'tryout' period. Like with resorting, post eligibility is based on your character slots, meaning primary house slot may only be used for characters listed in that primary house position and secondary only for the secondary, etc. You may not use secondary house character posts as proof of activity for your primary character's eligibility regardless of house affiliation so please be careful when selecting your three posts for the questionnaire!

In addition to these three posts, quidditch requires that you post at least once in the quidditch tryout thread hosted by the Flying Instructor. There will be one tryout for all for houses. You do not need to link to your post(s) in the tryout thread as those will be noted by the Flying Instructor.

Please keep in mind that each character may only become a member of either their house's quidditch or gobstones team, not both

IC Qualities
Athleticism aside, how your character behaves and conducts themselves could come into play in whether or not they make or get to remain on the team. Is your character getting poor grades or finding themselves in detention often? Their spot on the team may be in jeopardy or completely revoked but this could also provide some great RP opportunities for your character to grow as well as interact with the Hogwarts Faculty. Bottomline, don't prevent your magical teenager from being a teenager but also please expect the potential for IC consequences should the situation call for it!
If there are no RP'd matches, how are scores and winners determined?
Scores for individual quidditch and gobstone matches are determined by random generator.

Season winners/final standings are determined based on win/loss percentage ranking. When two teams both won the same number of matches, the winner of the head-to-head match(es) will be used as a tie-breaker. If those teams split their head-to-head matches, points scored will be used to break the tie.

Scores will be randomly determined by the Wizarding World RPG admin (sweetpinkpixie) using the tools provided by Random.org.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM the Wizarding World RPG admin (sweetpinkpixie), the Flying Instructor (PhoenixRising), the Gobstones Faculty Sponsors (Charely Potter and Jeorge Leroy), or any member of the Hogwarts Faculty.

If you have made your way here, thank you so much for reading! The only thing left to do now is to fill out the questionnaire!

We look forward to seeing you on the court or pitch soon!
