Default Pitch Guidelines

PITCH USAGE
  • No food or littering. Keep the pitch clean. Failure to do so will result in detention and banishment from the pitch.

  • Always follow curfew. Unless under the supervision of Mr. MacKenzie, no one is allowed to use the pitch after sunset.

  • Check the noticeboard often. The pitch is open for all to use daily except when a match or practice has been scheduled.

  • Equipment use requires permission. If you wish to use the school Quaffle, Bludgers, or Snitch, you must first ask.

  • Seek help if something goes wrong. Alert Mr. MacKenzie and the Healer immediately should an accident occur.

CLASS RULES
  • Arrive on time. Tardiness will not be accepted and will result in losing House points and polishing brooms after class.

  • Be prepared. Show up in appropriate flying attire and have a broom at hand. First years must use brooms provided by the school.

  • Follow all directions. Flying can be dangerous, which is why you are expected to follow instructions the first time they are given.

  • Safety always comes first. Wreckless flying and putting others in harm's way will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

  • Respect everyone and have fun. Be considerate of others and take full advantage of the flying experience.

OOC NOTES
  • Follow the forum and classroom rules. All site rules apply in the Hogwarts RPG; consequences will be handled OOC as necessary.

  • Know the difference between IC and OOC. Understand that Mr. MacKenzie is a character; his actions should not be taken personally OOC.

  • Refrain from providing textbook answers or having prodigy-like flying abilities. All characters and their unique responses/abilities are welcome.

  • Feel free to jump in. If you are late to a lesson OOC, please join us anyway; pretend your character has been there or have them arrive late.

  • Remember to have fun! What you put into the experience is what you get; be courteous and go with the flow for maximum enjoyment.

Text Cut: Earning House Points in Lessons
For participating in a Flying lesson, you can earn up to 20 points. Take note that my lessons may not adhere to this structure strictly. This is just the basic rubric that I can adjust no matter how the components of my lessons are arranged. Below is the grading rubric that I will be using to administer individual points:

    • Arrival - 2 points possible
      • 2 = member produces an arrival post at the beginning of the lesson

    • Question 1 - 3 points possible (verbal and non-verbal correct/incorrect responses accepted; answers that are completely off topic are also accepted with varying degrees of IC consequences)
      • 1 = member produces a post that does not in any way acknowledge the prompt/makes absolutely no mention of the professor or the question or anything else happening in the classroom OR produces a post with a copied response from web/another student without putting it into their own words or making mention that they're piggy backing off the person whose answer they are copying
      • 2 = member produces a post with a response that is original/in their own words but lacks details such as a character's personal opinion, thoughts, feelings, reactions, etc. or any other detail that adds individuality to the post
      • 3 = member produces a post with a detailed response response that is original/in their own words in addition to details such as a character's personal opinion, thoughts, feelings, reactions, etc. or any other detail that adds individuality to the post

    • Question 2 - 3 points possible (verbal and non-verbal correct/incorrect responses accepted; answers that are completely off topic are also accepted with varying degrees of IC consequences)

    • Practice/Mini-Activity - 4 points possible (at least 1 post required -- does not need the "correct" end result to get maximum points)
      • 2 = member produces post(s) with minimal detail; provides character actions, though missing many essential details such as character thoughts, impressions, opinions, feelings, etc.
      • 3 member produces post(s) with acceptable detail; provides character actions, though missing some essential details such as character thoughts, impressions, opinions, feelings, etc.
      • 4 = member produces post(s) with exceptional detail; provides character actions and is not missing essential details such as character thoughts, impressions, opinions, feelings, etc.

    • Practical/Main Acitivty - 8 points possible (at least 1 post required -- does not need the "correct" end result to get maximum points)
