A large number of bookshelves cover every space within Flourish & Blotts. Some sag under the weight of the books, but they hold strong thanks to a strengthening charm. Every subject that you can think of can be found within these shelves. The first floor holds books that further the knowledge, while the second floor holds books for more pleasurable reading. Small signs hang from the ceiling or hover around the top of the bookshelves, indicating which subjects can be found in each particular area. Feel free to browse and don't be afraid to let your imagination take you to great heights!
OOC: Since all good libraries and such have a cat, Elizabeth has brought her two kittens (Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer) with her to the bookshop. So always keep an eye underfoot for a flash of fur that may or may not be one or both playful kitties. And while they're technically NPCs, feel free to interact with them/play out their actions to your heart's content <3

The one from way back before they even got together and he acted like he hated the world. Those had been the moments she had lived for. Now their life was full of laughter, smiles and teasing. Everyday was something special.
With the confirmation from her husband that their little ones were doing just fine, the blonde felt no need to double check. Instead her focused on the very simple task at hand. Getting a few coloring books. "Wonderful." She looked over the small stack of coloring books and little picture books they had selected. "I think we're ready to get going then, unless there's anything else you see that you think they would enjoy?" They had gotten what they came for but it wasn't unlike the two of them to spoil their children and get more then what they had said they would.
Connor looked down at the books both he and Addison were holding. "I think these will keep them occupied for now. Later on, we'll come back if any of them need more.'' He thought that these should keep their kids' attentions fully occupied. Now Con was looking shrewdly at his wife.
"Don't you need something too? I'm surprised you haven't chosen a book for yourself as yet.'' His tone was light and teasing. His bookish wife. The man was still in surprise that the Sorting Hat had not placed her in Ravenclaw though Gryffindor had suited her just fine.

Addison dropped her gaze onto the books once more as her husband did the same. Had they chosen to many? No, she didn't think so. Children could never have enough books. "Alright. We still have all of Reagan's baby books as well." With three young children their home was full of books. Addi didn't miss that look she was given and in return she simply laughed.
"I don't need anything but that doesn't mean I can't look," the blonde laughed with a teasing smile of her own. He just wouldn't be Connor if he wasn't teasing her about something. "How about you? Have you ever finished that book you started?" Now it was her turn to tease him a little bit.

Yaaaaaay two friends in one day!
Noah beamed wide, turning and going to take his hand. "I have a lot of toys. You'll like them." It was only about another two steps before she was forced to let go, balancing a baby on your hip with only one hand was a lot of work, both hands would be needed. It was fine though, because he was coming anyway!
The little girl led them from the shop and back out onto the street, trusting the little guy to keep up. While they walked, she spoke of the wonderful place they would be going to and how there would be cookies and cake--there was always cake.
The 6 year old was careful, however, not to mention his parents or when he'd be back because that's when kids started remembering they even had parents and she didn't wanna have to deal with a crying little boy if she could help it.

"Our house is being turned into a mini library,'' Connor observed, imaged of all the books they possessed flashing through his mind. But maybe it was a good thing. Chances were that his kids would turn out to be more like their mother than him. Of course, she wanted to browse and tease him back. He avoided her eyes as he suddenly felt sheepish. The book he had promised her to read lay forgotten on the bookshelf at home. He had gotten past only a meagre two pages. "I don't know what book you're talking about, Addison.''
Little Ryder was too preoccupied with the other girl. He was quite content on holding her hand while he drooled and ate more chocolate. When his hand was dropped, he hurried along and did his best to keep up. He was barely able to understand what she was saying but he did recognise a word- cake. "Cake!'' the toddler repeated as they stepped onto the street.
It was at that moment that Connor chose to look in the direction of where their kids should be. He went still quite suddenly and he stared. A slow panic was already rising up through his, threatening to consume him. "Addison,'' Con called, forcing his voice to be still even though he was already hurrying to the pram. "The kids!''

"There's nothing wrong with that. I'm simply fostering an early love for books and reading in our children," Addi replied with a gentle laugh. Getting the kids to love books very early on would hopefully carry on into their older years. The blonde cast a quick glance at her husband rolling her eyes playfully. "I'm sure you don't. It's a good book, Con. How far did you even read, the first chapter?" Her tone was light and her eyes held a sparkle that showed she was only messing with him. She knew he wasn't much into reading.
Baby Keighley was used to being picked up a lot by young children. Their older sister was still young and nearly all their cousins were young too, a few of them probably about this little girls age. Which was why she didn't cry at all but she did look around for her mama and dada, lip quivering ever so slightly when she lost sight of them. Tiny little whimpers of confusion when they got outside turned into giggles when she heard the excitement in her brothers voice even though she didn't know what he was talking about. Keighley babbled happily waving one of her chubby little hands around, the other hand holding tight to the young girls clothing.
Addison had taken one more look at the children's books just in case something else would catch her eye when Connor said her name. There was something about the way he said it that caught her attention and had her turning around towards him right away. "Ye-" she didn't manage to finish what she was going to say before the rest of what was said reached her ears. The Kids. "Their right th-" Once again the words died on her tongue as she saw the pram but not Keighley. Where was Ryder? They had just been there but a minute ago? "Connor..." she whispered rushing over to the pram and looking all around. "Th-they have to be here.. " Hardly had she finished speaking then she was already rushing up and down the aisles. Two babies couldn't have gotten very far on their own, one wasn't even a walker yet!

As predicted, Jimmy had gotten distracted by something less than an hour after taking her to Diagon Alley to go shopping. Ah well, no matter - Trinetta was certain she could get everything done on her own, and she could do it MUCH faster without him slowing her down! He was always stopping to talk to girls and all that nonsense. Boys were so stupid.
First things first - BOOKS! Those were the most important thing, besides a wand of course. But the wand shop was alllll the way down the alley, so it made sense to just start here and get this part over with. If she didn't have books, she couldn't do any LEARNING, right?!
EEE! This was all so exciting! She couldn't stop grinning as she walked into the store and headed towards the never ending shelves. She was finally SCHOOL shopping! Bouncing on her heels, she wandered down the aisles, mostly looking at the pretty covers instead of actually getting what she needed from her list.

He was going to Hogwarts!!!!!!! Him and Adrienne and Allison were all going to Hogwarts!!! And it was going to be a blast! Actually, Ethan could care less about what his sisters were going to do, because it was ALL ABOUT HIM. He was dad's favorite, even enough that his father decided he can go get his books all by himself! He'd already finally finished reading Hogwarts, A History and just couldn't wait to get his hands on the other books and start learning actual spells.
With his very own wand. That he had yet to get, but books first. Because he wouldn't be able to do any magic without knowing what to do, even if he'd watched his parents before.
OOH... Another person who looks to be new?? At least he was sure judging from the stupidly large smile she was wearing. This wasn't Annaliese, because her hair was shorter and actually she was almost positive Annaliese didn't grin that wide.
"First year books are in the front of the store." Because he'd only been here at least a dozen times in the past year in anticipation. And while he received his letter and supply list last October, his father made him wait until actual summer to start getting things. Now let's just home her stupid grin was because this was her first year, not because of some boy.

Nettie hadn't expected anyone to actually talk to her - she figured she would be left alone to just look for her own books, but she heard someone come up behind her. It didn't SOUND like an annoying, hovering shopkeeper - and as she turned, she saw that it was actually a boy, probably around her age by the looks of it. She chuckled and shrugged, looking up at the books again.
"I know, I saw when I came in...I'm just kind of browsing. There are SOOOOO many books here!" she exclaimed. They couldn't ALL possibly be for Hogwarts curriculum, right? A lot of it had to be just for fun as well...or university students, like Jimmy...
"I'm Trinetta, but you can call me Nettie," she added to the boy. If they were going to be classmates, might as well start off on the right foot now. "Are you going to Hogwarts too?" she asked with a friendly smile. As soon as she asked that, it occurred to her that people might assume she WASN'T going to go to school - because of her accent and all, they probably would think she was headed to Beauxbatons, like her brothers - so maybe she should just come right out and say that right away. Just to make it perfectly clear she was one of them.

So there were two things that could have transpired next; one, she could have snapped at him. Two, ignore him. And three, actually be civil. And honestly? Ethan hadn't expected it to be the third at all.
She knew though? Oh no, was this one of those know-it-alls that his father warned him about? But she didn't seem to have malintent from the comment. And also, this was kind of his person because of how she seemed to revel in the books.
"Oh okay.... Yea, I've read Hogwarts, A History about five times already." Mostly because his father refused to allow him to get his proper school books until just now, which was ridiculous really. He couldn't do magic yet anyway. "I've heard Hogwarts Library is supposed to be EPPPIICCCC though!! I mean, probably not as many books as here, but it'll be awesome! And they have this restricted section that has some super dark books in there." Okay, that sounded worse than he meant. But really, he was just excited when it came to books. Quite unlike his father, the book-thrower.
"Ethan. You can call me... Ethan." Very original. "I am!!! But .... how come you're not going to Beauxbatons?" Yes, he heard the French accent. Also, he probably shouldn't have asked that because that sounded a tad rude, but whatever.

"FIVE times?" Nettie repeated with a little chuckle. That was...a little bit of overkill if you asked her. But then he mentioned a restricted section, and now she was intrigued. She raised an eyebrow. "OOOOH really? You mean like dark magic and stuff?" she asked. That sounded awesome! Sure, it was RESTRICTED but there had to be rules around that...her brain started rolling, but then she stopped and smiled.
"Nice to meet you Ethan!" she told him, grabbing his hand and shaking it happily before dropping it again. "Oh, well...my parents moved here because my brother is in university, and they wanted to be close to him," she said with a shrug. Jimmy was the golden child, sure, but SHE was the princess.

She followed her mother and father into the bookstore as she always had. They had been in this bookstore before, but this time her mother had two supply list. She knew most of the books she would use that Gunnar had the last term, but she was just hoping that one of the classes would be a different book so she could get a new book to take.
Looking over to Gunnar and Morgan she nudged them, "Think they'll let us buy some other books today?" She wouldn't mind going over to see if there was anything new on the shelves in the chapter books. Stopping to look around Chloe couldn't believe how big the place was, "Are all the books on the list ones you already have?" Her eyes went from her mother to Gunnar, come on did she have to take hand me downs? They weren't poor or anything, why did she have to use used books.

Ooops? So it wasn't normal to read something five times? "Yea, apparently my dad said I had to wait to read other books until Hogwarts, so I just kept re-reading the one I was allowed." Quite dumb, if you asked him. Since he wasn't going to be doing magic anyway. "Yea, i think so..." He'd heard some stuff, but apparently finding things out for himself was something more crucial to being a Denton.
Ohhhh... hand shake?!! He grinned when she shook his hand for the briefest of moments. "That's a little weird. Usually kids go to university to be far away, but seems someone has letting go issues?" He shrugged casually, but really, who was he to judge?

"OHHHH ok," Nettie said, nodding in understanding. That was still kind of odd - why wouldn't he be allowed to read his other books? If her kid wanted to keep reading, she'd totally let him. Then he'd be better off than everyone else and already way ahead of the rest of his classmates.
She shrugged. "I guess so. My brother Royland has always been distant and he works in the French Ministry, so I guess they didn't mind leaving him behind to follow Jimmy here. He was actually born here, so they've apparently moved back and forth a few times," she explained. Again, didn't matter to HER, really. She got a nice new room and was going to a fun new school!

There, looking for the first year books, Ewan spotted a group of children. He wasn't sure how old they were but they... seemed to be looking for something in particular. As he watched them out of the corner of his eye, he was drawn to one in particular... A girl. Ewan moved a little closer, picking up a book as an excuse to ease drop when he heard the girl mention something about hand me downs. Ewan didn't mind hand me downs. Epecially wizard hand me downs. He had soooooo much to learn he didn't care where it came from.
Ewan walked over to the group. Hesitantly, Ewan coughed "Uh.. excuse me. Do you know where the first year books are kept?". Ewan knew where they were kept but he had a slight inkling that the girl who mentioned the hand me downs was in her first year too!.

"Yeaaaa...Lammeeee" Although, to be honest, one of the reasons Ethan enjoyed going to Diagon Alley so much is that he'd been slinking off into this very bookstore to read a few pages here or there in some of the other textbooks. Not that his father needed to know that and pretty soon he wouldn't be knowing what him or his sisters would be doing anyway.
Ethan nodded as Nettie explained some more about her brothers. Oh, she had TWO older brothers? "I see. Are you the youngest?" And only girl? Cause if so, that was pretty much like the opposite of him.

Gunnar wasn't the biggest fan of shopping when it was necessary, boring stuff. And many of their school supplies fell into that category. It wasn't like last year when he got his wand and all of his stuff for the first time. And even though Chloe was getting to do it all for the first time now, it was kind of been there, done that for him. Family shopping was kind of boring too, as he'd rather go off and do his own thing, and maybe take Chloe, or even Morgan, with him.
"I hope so," he said, not all that quietly to his sister when she asked about other books. Sure, he was eager to see what new spells he'd be learning this year, but he also wanted something fun while they were out. It wouldn't be too much to just add a little something extra as a treat for each of them, would it? The twelve year old shrugged a little and glanced towards the list in his mother's hands. He couldn't read it from where he was and didn't feel like asking to see it, but he doubted it would have changed since last year. "Yeah, I think so. I'm sure you have all the same classes that I had last year." So yeah, she could use the books he already had.
But before he could mention anything about taking his sister to go look at extra books while his parents picked up their compulsory textbooks, a boy approached his sister about looking for the first year books. He raised an eyebrow and watched somewhat protectively, wondering why the kid wouldn't ask one of the shopkeepers and not his sister. But as the boy had approached Chloe, he'd let her answer.
Morgan hated this! Normally, he wouldn't mind going to Diagon Alley as long as they were doing something fun because he liked magic. But he hated the boring shopping and even more, he hated the fact that not only was Gunnar going off to Hogwarts again, but now Chloe was too! Sure, he liked being the baby of the family and getting the most attention, but he didn't like feeling left behind.
"Can't we get ice cream after this?" he said, somewhat whining to his mum as he dragged his feet along behind them. "And I want a book too!" It wasn't fair that his siblings were getting new things and not him. Even if he didn't like reading all that much. He stopped though when some boy started talking to Chloe and he eyed him warily as he moved closer to Gunnar.

She gave a huff about not needing any new books, she really wanted to buy her own books, but her mother said that even though they had the money there was really no need to buy more books that they already had, that it was using recourses and all that, really she would just ask her grandparents, they would buy her the books... maybe.
"We should ask before we have to follow them around for your books. I don't want to have to follow them everywhere." Were the other kids being with their parents or was it just the McCarthy's? She knew that she ddn't want to go too far from her parents, but she didn't want to just be with them all day either.
Looking at Morgan she grinned, "Ice cream is a great..." That comment never finished because soon there was another boy near them asking questions. She found it interesting that he picked her out of everyone to ask. She clearly was the same age, but maybe she looked important or even knowledgeable. This made her stand a little straighter.
"Oh yes, we know where all those books are. My brother had them last year didn't you Gunnar." She pointed out her now second year brother all proudly. "We can take you to them. This is my brother Gunnar and my brother Morgan, I'm Chloe, what's your name?"

Smiling now, he was right to approach the girl first. "I'm Ewan" he beamed, holding out his hand to the girl. [B]"Sorry I interrupted, I just... thought maybe one of you may be first years too! Not wanting to annoy Gunner, Ewan moved away slightly from Chloe, "Hey, do you three maybe want to get some ice cream after this..maybe? my treat... you know, as a thank you". Money wasn't a problem for Ewan. Atleast.. spending it. He wasn't rich but his family always had just enough, and one thing his mother always taught him... 'sharing is caring'. He could hear her now, speaking to him in her sing song voice. How he missed her. Adjusting his slight frown back to what he hoped was a friendly and encouraging smile.

Ethan nodded as Nettie explained some more about her brothers. Oh, she had TWO older brothers? "I see. Are you the youngest?" And only girl? Cause if so, that was pretty much like the opposite of him.
Nettie nodded. "Yes, I'm the youngest, and my two older brothers are already graduated," she added. So she was all alone at school, but she was pretty sure she would prefer that, honestly. She knew how both Jimmy and Royland were when they were away from their parents...and she figured her life would be easier without them around, nagging her or making her life difficult.
"So has your family always gone to Hogwarts? What house were they in? I'm trying to figure out where I might end up," she explained with a grin. She hadn't been all that interested at first, to be honest - school was school, after all, and she was just happy to be going, but now she was curious.

Gunnar wrinkled his nose slightly and nodded at his sister. Sure, he was glad to be home and spend some time with his family before he had to go off to boarding school again for a few months, but he really didn't want to have to tag along with his parents the whole time they were shopping. He was almost thirteen after all, soon to be a bona fide teenager, so he was sure he could do a little on his own. "Yeah, maybe that'll work. School books will be easy to pick out..." Maybe their parents could do that bit for them while they looked on their own.
The twelve year old eyed up the boy now chatting up his sister. "Didn't you get the supply list with your letter?" They certainly did, and it told them exactly what to buy, making the process simple, at least in his opinion. But his ever friendly sister of course offered to show the boy, who he now knew was called Ewan, to see where those books were. "Yeah, I did... Chloe has to get them anyway, so I guess you could come with us." He didn't really mind too much anyway. Gunnar could be friendly too; he was just a little more cautious than she was.
But what Ewan said next, Gunnar found slightly odd. An eleven year old offering to take three other kids out for ice cream? Especially when he had just met them... yeah, it was weird. "Uh.. we'll have to ask my parents," he started, who were just down the aisle from them and who surely would not let some random kid just pay for them. "But I think we were going to go there later anyway, so maybe you can just come with us." And he could just pay for himself and it would all work out fine.
Morgan continued watching the other boy until Chloe pointed him out. "That's me, I'm Morgan. I'm almost seven," he blurted out. His birthday was very soon, so maybe he could talk someone into buying him an early birthday present while they were here. Gunnar and Chloe were already getting plenty of magic stuff that he wasn't getting so it was only fair.
And then they were being all boring talking about what books to get, blah blah blah, who cares. Until talk turned of ice cream again. "I want ice cream! Let's go ask Mum." The youngest of the kids pulled on his big brother's hand to try to lead him that way.

Ooh. Big difference then. Ethan of course wanted to ask more questions about the big age gap, but fortunately restrained himself. For now at least. The train might be a completely different story. "Nice. I'm kind of the oldest. Well, I'm a triplet. I have two sisters...They're around someplace," Ethan glanced around, even though he knew they weren't in the shop with him. Honestly, he could really care less where they were. Knowing them, they found some ice cream or some boys or girls to ogle over and he wasn't really about that. "and we have a younger sibling too."whom Jess has no idea of gender or age cause we're a bum with planning like that *coughs* Really his life was easier when he was on his own. Almost made him wish he wasn't a triplet, yet he wouldn't trade them for anything either, so there was that.
"I guess so? My dad didn't start till fourth year. He was a Hufflepuff. Mum was a Hufflepuff too. Dad says that the sorting hat takes your opinions into consideration, but I'm not so sure about that... I think it's probably like 99% based on your personality and like 1% your opinion." He laughs. "I mean like, supposedly Hufflepuffs are the nice kids, but my dad threw a book at the Hufflepuff captain in his fourth year, so yea. But he's also probably one of the hardest working and most loyal people I know."

Why did her brother seem so suspicious looking and different? Did Hogwarts do that? She knew he wasn't as talkative as she was, but this boy wasn't weird looking for anything and honestly, Chloe was excited to meet people, though she still had to figure out what made her mom freak about her friend the other day. What was wrong with the last name Blaze? She started to think about that, but soon he was talking to the boy and things seemed alright, "Though mom says I should just use Gunnar's because it is silly to buy more of something we already have." She wasn't too thrilled by that, but maybe they could get out of the bookstore faster that way, "Where are your parents?" Chloe wondered if he came in alone because that would be super cool even though her own parents would never allow her to go off alone.
There he was being suspicisousy again, "We can ask though, it was very nice of you to invite us. " This boy was going to be a friend, she could tell and her brother wasn't going to ruin it. She gave Gunnar eyes, but soon rolled her eyes at her younger brother, "Morgan you have to wait, mommy said we have to do this first. We don't want to make her mad or we won't be allowed to go at all." That was something she wanted to avoid.
"We were going to maybe look at other books if your parents are getting your things and you want to check out the rest of the store with us." Her eyes were already on the children novels across the store, could they have the new one about her favorite character?

Looking at the older boy, he blushed a little now. His tone took him by surprise. "My uh... dad has it. He's off buying some of the other things so I thought i'd come in here and try and get my books. Guess I should have waited". Looking up slowly, he continued "Thank you for helping me, I uh... I'll get out of your way as soon as I have them". Ewan didn't want to be an annoyance. Especially to the older boy.
Turning to the younger boy now, Ewan smiled. Turning to the younger boy now, Ewan grinned. The younger boy reminded him a lot of him when he was younger, except he never had a brother's arm to pull on when he was younger. Maybe that's why he always liked sharing.
Ewan focused a little more on Chloe now, or rather, looking at where her eyes were wandering to. They were wandering to the other side of the store. Smiling at her, Ewan gestured to where she was looking, "So whats over there... I mean, if you stare it anymore, it might catch fire, and that wouldn't be good". Chuckling, Ewan winked at her jokingly. Who doesn't love a joke... right?
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Poor Xiamena looked so lost and baffled by all these books in this Shop. She eyed the list of books required for her 7th year studies at Hogwarts and they all looked so advanced and difficult. Yet still she knew that her Papa wanted her to be the best she could be times ten. It is why he sent her to the same school as her Brother for her final year. Hogwarts to him outclassed Beauxbaton when it came to academics.
Xiamena's argument, though never spoken aloud was that 'but Beauxbaton has Academy in her name?' Hogwarts only just says 'school' which is just so lame. But it seems her Papa was correct. All these books seemed so much more like intense than what Beauxbaton had to offer her.
She would need assistance in locating these books. She should look more lost or should she actually speak up in need of help?
