| Flourish and Blotts The best and oldest bookshop in Diagon Alley! |

04-09-2010, 02:07 AM
| | F&Bs Back Room The back room is used primarily for storage, and takes on a much different appearance from the rest of the shop. Instead of wooden bookshelves, this room holds metal shelves with bright lights illuminating the many boxes of unpacked books littering the floor.
A small desk is in one corner, with forms stacked upon it according to its application, such as delivery of previously purchased books or the ordering of newly released books. Only the shopkeeper is allowed here. The door is securely locked and can only be opened with a special key. |

Brett grinned at the man across from him as he confirmed that he would be able to handle it. "Great. I can give you a quick tour around the shop and the front counter. This here is the back room where we keep boxes of books that need to be unpacked, as well as order forms for the customized diaries and journals. We also keep our Braille books here as we have at least one customer who buys such books each year..." He stood up. "Any questions for back here?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brooks Robertser Gryffindor Fourth Year | Ern's Walmart Greeter Wesley returned the grin at the shopkeeper. "Uhh.. That's sounds great." He nodded in emphasis and glanced around a bit. Braille books, need-to-be-unpacked books, and order forms. That was easy enough. Questions.. did he have any questions about the backroom.. Oh.. right.
"Err... Yes. Yes, i do. Are the uhh.. books back here up front as well? Like.." the man paused, trying to think of a better way to convey his question. "The uhh.. books in the boxes, do we have them already on the umm.. shelves? Or are these just books you ordered that are no longer on the shelves?" If someone came looking for a book that wasn't on the shelves, would it be back here? That was basically what he was trying to ask. It just wasn't coming out very well.

Brett leaned back in his chair, propping his hands behind his heads. "We keep extra copies of the books back here, so if a book isn't on the shelves, then you can check back here for a copy. If there isn't a copy back here, then we would have to order more copies of that particular book." He paused. "Mostly it's the school books that run out of stock quickly in the main shop; we keep tons of copies back here, but sometimes we run low. It takes a few days to receive more and to re-stock them, so be sure to keep a close eye on the supplies."
He looked expectantly at Wes. "Anything else?"

"Alright, errr.. extra copies back here. New school books may run low and are to be found here and if they're not, we'll order more.." he rattled off just a bit of what he heard, making sure he had it all. Repeating things aloud always helped him remember what he needed to.
Hm. Did he have any other questions? Well... "What if umm.. someone brings up a book that i didn't know we had. One that.. uh.. might not fit into the categories or fits into more than one? What would i do then?" He asked curiously with far less pauses than he was use to.

I don't expect you to remember all of this all at once. You'll get the hang of it as you work here, but if you ever have any questions, just ask me." He leaned back further in his chair and glanced up at the ceiling. Hm, that could use a magical wash.
He dropped his eyes back to Wes as he posed another question. Hmm. "Good question." He murmured. "I don't know if we've ever had that happen here. I guess we'd just have to be really imaginative in our response." He winked and chuckled. "But really, if you don't know what to do, just ask me. I"m sure we can figure it out."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brooks Robertser Gryffindor Fourth Year | New Scene *eyebrows* Ern's Walmart Greeter Seeing as it was closing time, Wesley had decided it was as good a time as any to head to the back room after straightening out a few of the shelves and restocking them. He shuffled his feet, moving toward the back room, head hung and hands in his pockets. His aunt wasn't doing well and he knew she didn't have much time left. She was pretty much the woman that had raised him coming scarily close to taking his mother's place. And seeing her in that state, had definitely shaken the man.
So, quickly, he arrived in the back room, moving books around making things appear a bit more tidy. And now, little Bruce was on his mind. His little savior almost.

After closing out the register, Brett locked the door and walked off towards the back room. Wes had just come back from a short leave of absence and Brett still had that pouch to give him.
Stepping through the door, he gave a wave to his assistant. "Welcome back. How are you doing?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brooks Robertser Gryffindor Fourth Year | Ern's Walmart Greeter Poking around, and moving books this way and that had distracted Wesley from thoughts of his Aunt for the time being, as did the children and the crazy busy-ness of the shop these days. Which, he was grateful for. And being as distracted as he was, Wesley failed to noticed the footsteps as his boss wandered in, causing him to jump at the voice.
He smiled bashfully at Brett before giving him a slight nod of the head. "Thanks. Err.. Well.. i've been better, i guess." he shrugged, a bit uncertain. "But i'll err.. live. And little Bruce definitely keeps my mind busy." Now, he threw a weak smile toward his boss. "Was the shop busy while i was gone? Again, i apologize for my absence."

Brett noticed that Wesley seemed preoccupied, his actions seemingly to simply keep him busy. He leaned against the desk and crossed his arms. "That doesn't sound good..." He remarked. "Whatever it is, I hope it gets better."
Bruce? Who was Bruce? "Bruce?" He questioned. He said little Bruce, so he assumed that it was not an adult that he was speaking of.
"Not as busy as I thought that it would be. And it's fine. You were with family...I'd expect anyone to do the same for me."

The man poked around, continuing to stack the books on top of one another, just as long as they were the same genre and all of course. It was the simple things that seemed to preoccupy him the most. Wesley shrugged, uncertain of what to say really except for, "Thank you."
OH. Right, he hadn't told Brett about Bruce just yet, had he? "He's my new puppy. I got him just before i left, just before.." his aunt went into the hospital.
"No? Same amount of students as usual, i suppose then?" Oh.. wow. How, kind. "You're awfully kind. And thank you. You know, i'd watch over things if you had an emergency." Just throwing it out there.

A puppy? "Really? A dog? Which breed is he?" He asked curiously. He didn't mind dogs. He didn't for cats though. "Is he at your place?"
Brett hesitated before speaking again. "A bit more than the usual, but it wasn't completely overwhelming. Just enough to keep things interesting." He didn't say anything about the younger girls who appeared taken by him, though the entire situation was a bit amusing.
"Yeah, I know." He replied with a nod as he slipped his hands in his pockets. Oh. His fingers touched a rough material and he withdrew it from the pocket. "I nearly forgot about this..."
He held his hand out. "This is for you. A customer dropped it off; said that she had spoken to you previously. It's supposedly a magic pouch that holds an infinite number of things."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brooks Robertser Gryffindor Fourth Year | Ern's Walmart Greeter Wesley nodded, a small grin forming on his face. "He's a little brown and uh.. white bulldog. Nothing magical about him, but he's err.. still a good boy, i suppose." The man nodded again at Brett's next words. "Yes. He just sits around there in his crate until i come home." Poor thing all cooped up. He just didn't want to come home to torn up furniture.
So.. not too bad then? "Well, uh.. that's good then. Constantly on your toes then, eh?" he grinned, remember how the rush got even though he had only been through it once before. It had definitely been interesting times.
Wesley nodded, uncertain of how to respond to that. He had always been horrible at keep conversation, and small talk of course. Nearly forgot.. "Huh?" the man tilted his head to the side a bit, wary of what he could have forgotten.
Okay.. now he was growing worried. A customer had dropped off a little pouch for him? What was inside? He glanced at it, brown eyes squinting curiously as he took it from Brett, gently stroking the material. "A magic pouch that holds- Oh. Wow, i do errr.. remember that customer now." He smiled thoughtfully, clearly surprised yet appreciative that the young girl had indeed remembered him. "How sweet." he stated simply, wondering how he could possibly return her favor.

"Bulldog...sounds pretty nice. I don't have any pets myself, but maybe I'll look into getting a dog eventually. I definitely don't mind them." He nodded as Wes remarked that the dog was fairly well-behaved. "Ah..yeah, that's the disadvantage there. Can't trust animals sometimes...at least not until they're well-trained."
Brett smirked. "On my toes indeed. There is definitely not a day that goes by when something interesting does not happen."
He himself was curious about the pouch that the girl claimed to hold an infinite number of items. "Ah, so you do remember her? She seemed like a nice girl; was asking about you, and seemed fairly disappointed when I told her that you were on a leave of absence."
He studied the pouch from his vantage point, having not really taken a close look at it previously. "Does it really hold an infinite number of items?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Brooks Robertser Gryffindor Fourth Year | Ern's Walmart Greeter Wesley nodded, a bit unsure of why a bulldog sounded nice, but said nothing on the subject. "I've always been pretty fond of uhh.. dogs, really. And always saw myself with a larger dog but.. there's something about the bulldog that well.. caught my attention, I suppose." Shrug. He had no clue what that was. The man nodded again. "Yeah, i've been working with him since i got him. So, he's potty trained." the man chuckled. Of course the dog knew more things than just that, but that was the most difficult part.
The assistant chuckled. "Of course. I wouldn't imagine a day at a book store to be um.. any other way." Smirk. A book store. Who knew things could go the way they did?
Twisting and turning the pouch around his hand and between his fingers fondly, the man inspected it a bit uncertainly. He had never thought the girl would remember him and the discussion about the pouch, let alone actually get one for him. It was just.. so unexpected. He nodded once again. "I do. She was err.. one of the very few students that i actually had a uhh.. conversation with." She was a very sweet girl and obviously Wesley needed to find a way to repay her. Had he known the price of the object, he'd pay her back. But he didn't, so that was out.
His brown eyes lifted back up from the pouch to meet Brett's when he spoke again. "I.. I suppose so. But there's only uh.. one way to find out, right?" Not only as it supposed to do that, but he remembered the girl say it could stretch it's opening to fit whatever he wanted. Although.. he wasn't quite sure if the weight would be as much as the objects inside. Soon, he'd figure that out for himself.

That's usually how many things worked out. You were looking for something or were fond of something in particular, but something else just drew you in. "That's always a plus." He remarked in regard to the potty training comment. "Maybe you should bring him by the shop sometime..." His voice trailed off as images of ruined books came to his head. Or maybe not. "Erm..that is if he's well enough behaved."
Brett eyed the pouch curiously as Wesley turned it over in his hands. He had known it was a student, but didn't know the back-story. Interesting. "Very cool how she remembered your conversation...how'd you get to talking about this pouch in the first place?" After all, it wasn't as though magic pouches came up in everyday conversation.
He nodded in agreement as Wes mentioned having to try out the pouch to test its limitations. "Agreed. Want to try to place something in their from this room?" He asked. He had to admit that he was curious if the object really did as the young girl had claimed. He always was a see and believe kind of person; just like he hadn't believed that he was a wizard when he first received his letter.
