Beyond the Black Veil
We can only suppose where the souls of old go.
We can only imagine what world is beyond
that spectral, illusive veil.
When once we pass
the imagines that last will be our light
and our guide to where we'll roam.
Perhaps I'll roam with you
floating freely and watching the world
whirl on slowly.
Perhaps I could still feel.
If so,
I would immediately take your hand
into my own and we would roam
together side by side.
A ghastly, grim grin we'll bear
as we sway
with august breezes.
The new season will take souls past us,
the alterations of new days will swiftly
bring old life quite near us.
Remember to hold tight my hand,
that current of souls -
the familiar faces of old
will beckon you to reunite and follow.
Don't lose the light of our love once we pass that veil.
I swear I shall not go without you
Lots of dark poetry lately. I must be going through my 'blue phase.' hah. I'll have some light, cheerful ones soon. =]
