Chapter 20: A Bad Day For Babies

About a week had passed and things were going back to normal…… except for James. He seemed bound and determined to be as kind and helpful as he could be; and truth be told, he was getting on Lily’s nerves.

Lily liked to do household chores the muggle way (for some strange reason). She was sitting at the table, folding the laundry, when James sat down and immediately tried to help.

He began to fold the clothes, in an extremely strange fashion.

“James,” Lily said.

He didn’t answer and continued his attempt at folding.

“James!” Lily called.

“Just a minute,” he said, really having no luck with the folding.

“JAMES!” Lily shouted.

James put down the laundry and looked up in surprise. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Honey,” Lily said, “No offense, but you suck at folding.”

James looked hurt. “I was just trying to help.”

“I know,” Lily said kindly, “And I appreciate the thought, but I can do it on my own.”

“Ok,” James nodded.

“But you can do one thing for me,” Lily replied.

“What?”

“Go back to being your normal, immature self.”

James smiled, “Ok!”

The next morning, Lily woke up at 5 am and rushed to the bathroom; she spent about an hour throwing up.

“I hate morning sickness!” she muttered to herself as she walked towards the stairs.

When she passed Camey’s room, she heard Camey bawling. Lily gently opened the door, and saw Vi holding Camey as she cried.

“Did we wake you?” Vi asked.

Lily shook her head. “What happened?”

Through her cries, Camey managed to say, “Baby” and “miscarriage”.

“Oh my!” Lily exclaimed, “You were pregnant?!?”

Camey was to hysterical to answer, so Violet nodded her head.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me?”

“Well……” Vi answered “You weren’t hear when we found out.”

“Oh,” Lily replied, “Do the guys know?”

“No,” Camey said, “and please don’t tell them. I don’t want them to know…….. they would tell Remus.”

“Don’t you think Remus has a right to know?” Vi asked.

“He’d be so disappointed, that we lost the baby,” Camey said, “It’s best if he doesn’t know.”

“Ok,” they agreed.

Trying to cheer everyone up, Lily said, “Well, why don’t you two see if you can get some more sleep. I’m going to make pancakes, and I’ll bring them up in an hour.”

James bounced down the stairs and saw the remains of pancakes. "Where are my pancakes?" he asked jokingly.

"James!" Lily exclaimed, “What a wonderful way to greet someone! No 'Good morning Lily', no kiss, no 'how are you feeling today?'!"

"I'm sorry sweetheart. 'How are you feeling this morning?'" James asked, with a smile. "Now, where are my pancakes?"

Lily's expression was one of pure loathing. "JAMES HENRY POTTER! I was up three hours ago, puking my guts out! And you have the nerve to come in and mock me!?! How dare you! I am the one carrying your baby, and I have a toddler to take care of! You have any idea how exhausting that is! I have had it with you! You are so immature! I'm going back to bed! So if you want the damn pancakes, you can make them yourself!"

Lily raced out of the room, and James chased her. "Lils, I'm sorry. I was just joking! You should know that! And of course I'm stupid and immature, isn't that why you love me?" James asked, with a goofy smile.

Lily started to cry, “I wish that you would be a little more understanding sometimes!" She raced up to the bathroom, and locked the door.

Sirius, Camey, and Vi had been listening from the other room. They walked in, to find James looking hurt and shocked, at the bottom of the stairs. Camey went up the stairs, to check on Lily.

James looked at Violet. “Why is she so upset? She told me to go back to being my immature self!”

Vi looked at him with sympathy. “James, you are dealing with a pregnant woman; everything you do from now, until she gives birth, will probably make her hate you and then cry.”

“Great!” James said sarcastically.

The three of them raced upstairs, as a shrill scream came from the bathroom.

OMG!! What happened?! Yay, Sirius punched Regulas, he did something that wanted to do since I first read the things he did to Lily!!

Chapter 21: Babies! Babies Everywhere!


James was the first to enter the bathroom, and a horrible sight met his eyes. Lily was unconscious, on the floor; blood was trickling from her mouth and the back of her head.

James was in shock, so Sirius took control. “Vi, you and Camey stay here; James and I are going to take Lily to the hospital.”

“Like hell we are!” Vi protested.

“Sirius, we are coming too!” Camey stated.

“Fine! Go and grab the kids, and then apparate to the hospital!” he told them, “James and I are going now.”

The girls raced out of the room, and Sirius turned to James. “Grab her arm, we are going to apparate. Ready?” he asked.

James nodded.

“On the count of three?”

Again James nodded.

“One……. Two………… Three!” Sirius shouted.

Moments later, they were at the St. Mungo’s.

“Help!” Sirius shouted, “We need some help!”

About three healers came running; without saying anything, they hastily carried Lily into a room. Sirius and James were left waiting in the hall.

Vi and Camey arrived with Harry and Hallie soon after.

“What’s going on?” Vi asked.

“We’re not sure,” Sirius replied (James had not said anything since he’d first seen Lily, in the bathroom). “I yelled for help, and three healers came running. They took her into a room, and we haven’t been told anything.”

“Oh,” Camey said. “Well, there’s a waiting room right over there; why don’t we go and sit down?”

They all agreed.

Sirius was worried about not only Lily, but James too. He looked so shaken up; but, then again, all of them did. Even Harry seemed worried about the look on his father's face.

"Dada?" Harry asked.

James looked up, and took his son from Sirius. "It's ok, Harry," he cooed. "Everything's going to be ok."

All of them were extremely scared for Lily, and the baby. However, none of them spoke because they knew James needed time to adjust, and come out of his shock.

Finally, he spoke. “What happened, Camey?”

“Well…..” she said shakily, “I’m not too sure……………. I knocked on the bathroom door, but there was no answer……………….I talked to her, but again there was no answer…………………… so I checked the handle, but it was locked………… so I did ‘Alohomora’, and walked in……… and she was unconscious and bleeding……… that’s why I screamed.”

“Ok,” Sirius said, “So what do you think happened?”

“I think she was tired,” Vi said. “I mean, she hadn’t eaten anything all morning…….. so, I think, she passed out……. and hit her head on the floor……. or the tub.”

“Yeah, that’s probably what happened,” Camey agreed.

James put his head into his hands, and rocked back and forth; he wasn’t crying, he was beyond tears. “This is all my fault,” he moaned.

“James Potter,” Sirius said sternly. “Don’t you dare! Don’t you dare blame yourself! This is not your fault! It was an accident, just an accident!”

“No! It’s my fault!” James protested. “If I hadn’t been such an immature jerk, she wouldn’t have gotten upset and she wouldn’t have locked herself in the bathroom!”

“James stop it! It’s my fault!” Camey looked miserably at Violet. “I shouldn’t have told her about the miscarriage! It upset her!”

“Camey! This was no one’s fault! Not James’s and not yours!” Vi reprimanded.

“Whoa!” Sirius said. “Miscarriage!?!”

“You were pregnant?” James asked.

“Yes, and Remus would be so disappointed if he heard! So, please, don’t tell him, when he gets back!” Camey pleaded.

“Tell me what?” asked a thin and scruffy looking man, in shabby clothes.

Chapter 21 (part two): Babies! Babies Everywhere!


Sirius and James leaped up and pulled Remus into a hug.

“Hey! Is Lily all right?” he asked.

“We’re not sure,” Sirius replied. “Wait! How did you know about Lily? And why are you home early? You were supposed to be gone for a few more weeks!”

“Dumbledore sent for me,” Remus said, “About 10 minutes ago. He said I had completed enough of my mission, and that Lily was in the hospital; so naturally, I immediately apparated over here.”

“Oh, ok,” Sirius said, a little suspicious. “But this just happened. How did Dumbledore know?”

“I dunno, Padfoot! It’s Dumbledore for crying out loud! How am I supposed to know where he gets his information?” Remus then turned to Camey and hugged her. “I missed you!” he whispered.

“I missed you too!” she said kissing him.

Ending the kiss, Remus asked, “What were you not going to tell me?”

“What are you talking about?” Camey asked.

“When I came in, I heard you say ‘Yes, and Remus would be so disappointed if he heard! So please don’t tell him, when he gets back!’ So, what were you not going to tell me?”

Dismay rapidly spread across Camey’s face. “Um…..” she stuttered, looking to the others for help.

Vi spoke up. “It’s nothing Remus, never mind.”

He looked at her questioningly. “No, I want to know; someone tell me.”

Camey buried her head into his jacket. “Remus, you’re going to need to sit down,” she said sobbing.

Remus nodded and sat on the couch. She sat beside him, and he gently held her hand. “Honey, it can’t be that bad,” he cooed.

“It is,” she cried. “Well………you see………… I was two months pregnant but-”

“Oh my god! You’re pregnant!” Remus shouted in delight.

Camey silently shook her head. “Not anymore.”

“Oh,” Remus said softly.

“See, when Voldemort captured Lily we-”

Again Remus cut her off. “What! Lily was captured by Voldemort? Is that why she’s here?”

“No,” James answered. “That was about a week ago. We’re not sure of what happened today.”

After a pause, Camey continued. “When Lily was captured, we were all sent out to look for her. I was with Benjy Fedwick, and we came across some death eaters………. Benjy was killed……… I was hit with a spell…….. and took a nasty fall……. the next thing I remember is waking up here……….. a healer told me that, he was sorry, but there was nothing they could do…………… I lost the baby.”

Remus held Camey for a while; both silently crying.

Harry and Hallie were happily playing on the floor, of the waiting room. They looked at Remus and Camey crying, and looked back at each other. They formed a plan through their eyes.

Hallie picked up two rag dolls and waddled over to Camey. “Auntie Camey?” Hallie asked sweetly.

Vi interrupted, “Not now, Sweet-ums.”

“No, it’s ok,” Camey said, picking Hallie up. “Yes Hallie?”

“Play?” she asked; handing Camey her favorite rag doll.

Camey smiled a watery smile. “Sure, baby doll,” she said.

Harry walked up to Lupin, and pulled on his leg. “Lu-lu!”

Remus chuckled. “Yes Harry?”

“Story?”

“Sure, what about?” he asked.

Harry struggled to say it. “Ma…….mara………ders………maradrs.”

“Oh, the marauders!” The adults chuckled.

“How about the time, we all became Animagi?” Remus suggested in a whisper.

“No!” Harry said.

“How about the time your Daddy made a fool of himself, in front of Mommy?” Remus asked Harry.

“Hey!” James yelled, jokingly.

“Not again!” Hallie moaned.

“Ok……… how about…….. when Padfoot and Prongs got in trouble?”

“Which one?” Hallie asked,

“The one about Honeydukes?” Harry pleaded.

“Sure!” Remus agreed. He began the story. “When we were 13, Padfoot and Prongs discovered a secret passage into Honeydukes.”

Hallie squealed in delight.

Remus continued, “The snuck in, in the middle of the night; to try to steal some candy.”

“Where were you, Lu-Lu?” Harry asked.

“I was a good boy, and stayed in my dorm,” Remus answered.

“That’s not what Daddy said,” Harry and Hallie said in unison.

“Oh really?” Remus asked, with one eyebrow cocked. “What did they say?”

“They said you were too much of a chicken to go in, so you stayed in the tunnel!” Harry said.

“Well, Harry and Hallie, your daddies are idiots.”

As James and Sirius shouted “HEY!”, Hallie and Harry said, “We know.”

Remus finished the story, telling Harry and Hallie how Prongs and Padfoot got caught.

“Did they get punished?” the toddlers asked.

A young woman in healers’ robes said, “If I remember correctly, they had to scrape frogs’ brains off the ceiling in the dungeon, for three whole weeks!”

“Ewww” and “Gross” came from Harry and Hallie.

Sirius raced over to the women and pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. “Hey! How are you? How’s Ted?”

“We’re fine, Sirius! Now let go! You are crushing my ribs!”

“Hey Andi!” Remus, Vi, and Camey said; also hugging her.

James, joining in on the hug said, “Hey, Andromeda!”

“Honestly James, why do you insist on calling me Andromeda?” she asked.

“Because, you’re old!”

“I’m only six years older than you!” she protested, pouting.

At that moment, a 9 year old girl, with purple hair, came running around the corner; seeing Sirius, she jumped on top of him.

“Cousin Sirius!” she shouted.

“Hey Tonks!” he laughed. “Did you miss me?”

“Yes! I haven’t seen you for a whole year!” she whined, still on top of him.

“Yes Sirius, this little girl adores you. Everyday she asks, ‘when are we gonna get to see cousin Sirius?’ I don’t understand why!” Andi said smirking. She pulled Tonks off Sirius and allowed him to get up. “It’s good to see you. When did you get back from Africa?”

“A few months ago,” he replied. “Sorry I haven’t come to see you yet, but things have been hectic.”

“Really?” she asked. “What has made your life so busy that you couldn’t stop to see me?”

“Well,” Sirius said, taking Hallie from Remus. “This is my daughter Hallie.”

“Oh Sirius! She’s beautiful! When did you get married?” she asked, looking at Vi.

“Oh, we’re not married!” Vi said.

Andi looked at him and laughed. “I should’ve guessed.”

“Hey!” he said, “Bella isn’t married either!”

“Whoa! Bella’s having a baby?” Andi asked.

“Didn’t you know that?” Sirius replied. “She is your sister!”

“I haven’t talked to either of them since they joined the death eaters....... the stupid prats!” Andi said, “It was extremely hard to avoid them when Cissy had her baby.”

“Narcissa had a baby?” James asked in shock.

“Yep!” Andi replied, “He was born about two months before Harry; his name is Draco.”

“What kind of a name is Draco Malfoy?” Sirius asked laughing.

“I dunno, but I bet he’s a Slytherin.”

“Well, duh! The whole lot of the Blacks are in Slytherin!” Sirius said. “Except us! Andi, you are I are misfits!”

“We’re the white sheep of the Black family!” she said laughing.

As the adults continued to talk, Tonks had her eyes on Remus. “Boy, he’s hot!” she said loudly.

The adults started laughing. When Tonks looked at Sirius questioningly, he said, “Tonks, you said that out loud.”

She clapped her hand to her mouth. She looked at Sirius. “I did?” she mumbled.

Camey stopped laughing. “He is pretty cute, isn’t he Tonks?”

“Yeah,” Violet agreed. “Tonks you’re right……. Remus is very hot. But unfortunately, he and Camey are getting married.”

“Um, do you mind if I go play with Harry and Hallie?” Tonks asked, looking at her shoes.

“Sure,” Sirius said, trying not to laugh; for Tonks’s sake. “Get to know your little cousin.”

When she walked away, Sirius and James turned to Remus. “Yeah, Remmy! You are downright sexy!”

Yeah! Go Tonks!! *pushes her* But he ish mine!!!!! He sih downright sexy.... times infinity... I mean... No wait that is what I mean. I loved this post except... *pushes Camey and Tonks* REMUS ish MINE!!! And Draco was born before Harrry. June 4th I think... Just telling you... I'm really obsessed with Harry Potter... PAMS!!!!!!
