Wow, I loved the ending of the chapter, brilliantly written! (Not that the rest was not good, of course). And I can totally understand Snape's reaction, it seems very in character, congrats again for being able to reflect canon behaviour for the characters.

Chapter Fourteen - Goodbyes Are Never Easy

Izabella woke up to a loud bang outside her room. Scrambling out of bed, she ran to the door, yanking it open to see Fred and George waving their wands at the school trunks. She shook her head and raised her eyebrows at them.

“If you're mother catches you...” she said warningly. They grinned and carried on down the corridor. Izabella laughed then went back into her room, pulling on the black robes she had laid out the night before.

As she was standing by her bed running a brush through her hair, Sirius entered, his face stony and his hair messy.
“Sirius, we'll be back at Christmas.” she said sighing. He stood behind her and then wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her neck softly. She laughed then pulled out of his arms and turned to face him.

“Don't do anything stupid?” she asked, almost pleadingly. Sirius grinned.
“When have I ever done anything stupid?” he said sarcastically. She laughed then reached up on her toes to kiss him.

From downstairs came the echoing shouts of Mrs Weasley, above the noise of Mrs Black's screams. Sirius sighed.
“I'd better go downstairs.” Izabella said, kissing his cheek then leaving the room hurriedly. As she reached the bottom she bumped into Harry and Ron leaving their room.

“Morning, what's happened?” she asked, over the noise from the hallway.
“Fred and George used their wands to bring their trunks down, but they hit Ginny.” Ron explained. Izabella rolled her eyes then made her way to the bottom of the stairs.

“Are you coming on the train?” Harry asked her. She shook her head.
“No, I'm going to apparate later on. I'll see you at the feast though.” she smiled then pulled Harry into a hug, kissing the top of his head.
“Behave yourselves.” she said, patting Ron on the back and hugging Hermione.

“Sirius! Dumbledore said no!” Mrs Weasley yelled as a great black dog bounded down the stairs. Izabella sighed and shook her head but the dog just grinned back at her.

With a final smile at Harry, Izabella stroked Sirius then watched him run out of the door behind Harry, a worried look on her face. The door slammed shut behind them.

“We shouldn't of let him go.” Izabella said to Lupin, biting her fingernails.
“He'll be fine. Don't worry.” Lupin smiled kindly then left the house with Ron and Ginny. Soon, Izabella was left standing in the empty hall, Mrs Black still screaming.

“SHUT UP!” she yelled at the portrait, firing a spell and making the curtains close with a bang. The house fell into deadly silence. Izabella sighed then sat down on the bottom step, running a hand through her hair.

She had suddenly become nervous about returning to Hogwarts. What did she know about teaching? A couple of weeks ago she was an underpaid secretary for a useless boss. Now she was a witch once again with the world on her shoulders. She sighed and dropped her head into her hands.

There was a scratching noise at the front door and her head snapped her. Izabella ran to open the door and was almost knocked over by the great black dog that jumped up at her.

“Sirius, stop it!” she said laughing as he licked her face. The dog barked a laugh then jumped up the stairs. Izabella chuckled as she watched him then stood back for Mrs Weasley, Tonks and Lupin to come into the house. Lupin was shaking his head at Sirius.

“He wasn't very inconspicuous.” he said with a sigh.
“He never is.” Izabella said laughing. Sirius came back down the stairs in his human form, his black hair messy and a grin on his unshaven face.

“No one noticed me. I wanted to be there for Harry.”
Izabella smiled and took his hand.
“Are you leaving?” he asked quietly.
She nodded.

“I need to see Dumbledore.” Izabella looked up at Sirius and smiled. “I'll be back before you know it.”
Sirius put his arms around her and pressed his body against hers. He bent his head down and kissed her lips fiercely. They broke apart and Izabella took a deep breath.

“Wish me luck.” she said smiling. She hugged Tonks then Mrs Weasley.
“Everyone will be fine.” she whispered in her ear. Mrs Weasley patted her cheek and smiled.

“Keep an eye on him for me.” she said in a low voice to Lupin as she hugged him. He nodded and smiled.
“Don't worry about us.”

Izabella kissed Sirius' cheek, smiled around the room, then dragged her trunk outside onto the top step. She looked back over her shoulder to smile at Sirius once more then apparated with a loud crack.

Hello Jazz. Very nicely written. You do have a way of making the story the same as the books, but your own character fits right in with them. Super job. It makes the story very interesting.

Chapter Fifteen - Placing The Blame To Relieve The Pain
Izabella landed in an unusually quiet Hogsmede, her trunk falling to the ground by her feet with a loud thud. With a flick of her wand she sent a silver mist in the shape of a shaggy dog bounding towards the school up ahead of her. She waved her wand at the heavy trunk and levitated it in front of her, as she followed her patronus to the high iron gates of Hogwarts.

The castle stood proudly by the shimmering lake, the Forbidden Forest dark and mysterious, the green leaves of the trees swaying slightly. The day was drawing to a close and the warm September day was setting, making way a for cool breeze. The sky was streaked with orange and pink which had started to fade, like a dimming fire.

As Izabella neared the gates, she could see Snape waiting for her.
“Do you ever get bored of wearing black?” she teased as she approached him. He ignored her and pulled back the gate to let her in.

“You're early.” he stated as they walked up the path to the castle. She nodded.
“Dumbledore wants to see me.” Izabella said as they reached the front doors of the castle. As they stepped into the entrance hall, Izabella sighed. She looked up at the stair cases, the portraits, and years of memories came flooding back to her.

“This is going to be harder than I thought.” she mumbled. Snape watched her, a concerned look on his face. “Wouldn't it be great to be 15 again.” she said smiling sadly.

“Izabella-”
“I'm fine Sev.” she said determinedly. She smiled reassuringly at him then turned as a house elf toddled towards them.
“I will take your things to your room Miss.” said the hunched elf.
“Thank you.” Izabella said, smiling at the elf as he bowed towards her, then clicked his fingers and levitated her trunk down the hallway.

“I'll take you to Dumbledore.” Snape said, turning on his heel and making his way up the stairs and along the corridors.
Izabella followed, walking behind him and smiling to herself as she recalled memories from the times she had spent in Hogwarts.

They reached the stone gargoyle that stood guarding Dumbledore's office.
“Fizzing Whizzbee.” Snape said, causing the gargoyle to jump aside and reveal the moving spiral staircase which Snape and Izabella stepped on to. They reached the top and Snape knocked sharply, making the door swing open of it's own accord.

Dumbledore sat smiling in his chair, behind an unusually neat and tidy desk. Fawkes stood majestically on the edge of the desk, eyeing Izabella and Snape curiously.

“Izabella,” Dumbledore said invitingly, gesturing for her to sit. She smiled in response, moving to take a seat opposite him as Snape stood by the window, looking down onto the grounds below.

“How are you?” he asked, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the table.
“I'm okay,” she said nodding slightly as she looked down at her hands.
“Sirius will be fine.” Dumbledore said gently, his blue eyes twinkling at her. She looked up quickly and blushed. Snape rolled his eyes and sighed.

Dumbledore chuckled and shifted in his seat.
“All set then?” he asked her. Izabella nodded and took a deep breath.
“You'll be wonderful.” Dumbledore said gently, smiling at her. “Oh, but you do need to have a word with Draco Malfoy. Make sure he doesn't say anything about your visits to Voldemort. Especially to Harry or it will blow your cover.”
Izabella nodded understandingly.

“Dolores Umbridge has just arrived.” Snape said, looking down out of the window and pursing his lips. Dumbledore sighed.

“I have a feeling everything is going to change this year.” he said quietly, gazing at Fawkes distantly. He turned to Izabella. “Keep an eye on Harry.”
“Of course.” Izabella said. Dumbledore turned to Snape.
“Both of you.” he said, watching Snape closely.
“Haven't I always?” Snape snapped, his jaw clenched.
“You do owe it to him.” Izabella said, raising an eyebrow at her brother.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” Snape asked, folding his arms.
“That if you hadn't of gone running to Voldemort with that stupid prophecy, we wouldn't be in this mess and Harry would still have parents!” she yelled, her face growing red as she stood up and faced Snape. His mouth dropped open and he glared at her.

“Well if you hadn't of ran off after that pathetic excuse of a man on Halloween, then Wormtail wouldn't have been able to get to the Dark Lord.” he said spitefully.
“
Don't you dare blame this on Sirius.” Izabella said in a low voice. “He spent twelve years in Azkaban and what did you get? Nothing! But you complain about keeping an eye on Harry, when it's your fault that Lily isn't here to protect him herself?!”

Izabella and Snape were standing on the opposite sides of the office, their eyes glaring at each other. Sparks flew from the tips of Izabella's wand which was grasped in her hand. Dumbledore stood up and moved in front of the desk.

“This isn't helping anyone.” he said in a calm voice. “Placing the blame on people won't bring Lily back.” he said gently. Snape turned away from them to look out of the window. Izabella looked down at the floor, ashamed, and quickly wiped away a tear as it rolled down her cheek.

“I'm sorry Sev.” she whispered.
“Me too.” He turned back to look at her with sad eyes.

“You too need each other more than ever now. So does Harry.” Dumbledore reminded them, looking at them both over the top of his glasses. Izabella nodded and smiled apologetically at Dumbledore. He gazed at them both for a moment then clapped his hands and walked back behind his desk.

“Excellent. Well I shall see you both at the feast.”
Taking that as their queue to leave, Izabella walked to the door and made her way down the spiral staircase. She turned at the bottom to face Snape.

“I know. You're sorry. I am too.” he said, holding up a hand before she could speak. Izabella smiled then reached up on her toes and kissed her brother on the cheek. He looked taken aback for a moment but he recovered himself and nodded.

“I missed you Sev.” she said grinning slightly. He raised an eyebrow at her.
“Don't push your luck.” he said, turning and walking away from her.

Izabella laughed and watched him for a moment, grinning, then turned and walked in the opposite direction, to get ready for her first feast back at Hogwarts.

Severus is exactly how imagined him being; fantastic job on staying close to canon. As for the blaming of James and Lily's death, I love how every little piece is coming together, as far as Izabella's past, and what happened. And I loved your last post as well; very cute. Great posts! Please PAMS!

Hey Jazz. You wrote this so good. I love the interaction between Snape and Izabella. They have their own thing going on always, and sometimes like this time, a little gets out and causes a clash, but then they are able to get control of their emotions and thoughts and make amends for the hurtful things they let slip.

Hey guys, I'm so sorry about the wait for this chapter! I've had a lot of things going on but it's Spring Break for me now so I promise I will try and give you more updates, more quickly

Hope you enjoy it anyway, and once again, thanks for reading!

Chapter Sixteen - Meeting and Greeting
Izabella entered the Great Hall in the dark purple robes she had changed into. Her dark hair curled gently at the ends, cascading down her back and framing her pale face. Her heels clicked along the floor, as she walked between the long House tables and looked up at the ceiling, which reflected the dark, starry sky outside. A group of teachers were standing around the Head table, conversing and laughing as they waited for the students.

Izabella approached them warily, noticing Snape and making her way towards him. As she stood next to her brother, Professor Sprout gasped and ran towards her, engulfing Izabella in her arms. Izabella laughed as Professor Sprout held her at arms length.

“Welcome back Izabella.” she said grinning cheerfully.
“Thank you.” Izabella replied beaming around at everyone.

Dumbledore chuckled as he entered the Great Hall through a door behind the Head table. He placed a hand on Izabella's shoulder and smiled for a moment then turned and sat down in the high backed golden chair in the centre of the Head table. The teachers took their places, Snape guiding Izabella to the seat next to his.

There was a mumble of conversation until a small cough interrupted them. Looking around, Izabella frowned slightly as she saw a small figure, dressed completely in pink, standing in front of the table, and smiling sickly at the teachers.

“Good evening. I am Dolores Umbridge, it's a pleasure to meet you all.” she said in a strangely high voice. Izabella bit her lip and dropped her head slightly to hide the grin that was creeping onto her face.

“You must be Izabella Prince. My cover teacher for when I have important Ministry work?” she said, tilting her head to one side and smiling sweetly. Snape sighed loudly, the muscles in his jaw clenching.

“I am the other Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher yes.” Izabella replied firmly, smiling back at Umbridge in a fake manner.
“Fantastic.” Umbridge said, giggling girlishly. Izabella saw Snape raise an eyebrow and she coughed to cover up the splutter of laughter that erupted from her mouth. Dumbledore stood up quickly and gestured to the seat on his right.

“Take a seat Dolores.” he said graciously.
“Thank you Albus.” she said nodding towards him, striding towards her chair and sitting down, smoothing her clothing pompously. Izabella and Snape exchanged a look then quickly turned away from each other as a grin spread across their faces.

There was a rumble of voices, growing louder, until students began pouring through the wooden doors and into the Great Hall. Gaggles of girls made their way to their House tables, giggling and chatting amongst themselves. As the Hall slowly filled with figure in black robes, Izabella craned her neck, scanning the Gryffindor table until she found the messy black hair she was looking for.

Sighing in relief as she caught sight of Harry sitting with Ron and Hermione, she ignored Snape as he rolled her eyes at her, and smiled in Harry's direction. He grinned back at her but then joined Ron and Hermione in frowning at the teacher's table. Izabella looked down the row of teachers then turned to Snape.

“Is Hagrid not back yet?” she whispered, in a concerned voice. He shook his head, causing Izabella to bite her lip worriedly. She watched Harry for a moment, then glanced along the Slytherin table. A pale face watched her and Snape closely. Izabella raised an eyebrow at Draco Malfoy and inclined her head slightly. He turned his face away from her.

“We need to keep an eye on him.” Snape said in a low voice, leaning towards Izabella slightly as he stared at Malfoy. She nodded, then sat up as McGonagall entered with the terrified first years. Izabella hardly listened to the sorting or the hat's song, she was scanning the room and watching her new students.

The last person was sorted and she laughed as Dumbledore began the feast and the students dived for the food in front of them.

By the time Dumbledore stood to make his speech, Izabella was completely full and yawning drowsily. She vaguely listened to Dumbledore's announcements, looking around the Hall at the student's faces.

“We have a few changes to the staff this year,” Dumbledore said, pausing slightly. Izabella sat up in her seat, blinking away her tiredness. “Professor Grubby-Plank will be taking Care of Magical Creatures, and this year we are lucky enough to have two Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, Professor Prince and Professor Umbridge.”

Dumbledore lead the Hall in an applause, the students frowning as they whispered to each other about the changes in staff. Dumbledore continued, until he stopped suddenly. Izabella snapped her head up to look at him, frowning as to where the interrupting cough had come from.

The plump pink figure rose and began talking, much to the surprise of the shocked students below, in her high girlish voice, addressing the audience in front of her as if they were very young children.

Izabella was too shocked to listen to what she had to say, but instead watched the expressions of the teachers faces. McGonagall looked furious, Flitwick's mouth hung open, his eyes wide, and Snape glared at Umbridge through narrowed eyes.

Dumbledore remained calm, starting the applause when Umbridge had finished, but there was a storm brewing in his blue eyes.

After Dumbledore had dismissed the school, he sat back down in his golden chair looking thoughtful. The Head of Houses rushed to make sure students went straight to their dormitories, Snape nodding towards his sister.

“Goodnight.” he said, flashing a weak smile at her.
“'Night.” Izabella replied quietly, biting her nails. Izabella stood up quickly then dithered by her chair.

“Harry will be fine Izabella. He's home now.” Dumbledore said quietly, his eyes not moving from the place on the wall at which he was gazing at. Izabella watched Harry leave the Hall then sighed and sat back down, running a hand through her hair.

“I know.” she said in a small voice. Umbridge leant forward and raised an eyebrow.
“Why are you so concerned with Harry Potter's well being?” she asked sweetly.
“He's my godson.” she said plainly, avoiding looking at Umbridge.
“Oh really?” Umbridge said. “I though Sirius Black was his only godparent.” she said interestedly.
“Well you thought wrong.” Izabella snapped, pushing her chair back and standing up.

“Goodnight Professor Dumbledore.” she said, leaving the Hall swiftly, turning down the corridor towards her room.

Chapter Seventeen - Notes
Izabella woke early and lay in her bed, gazing at the ceiling. When the weak morning sunlight started to peek through her curtains she sighed and swung her legs over the side of the bed. She stood up and started to dress slowly into her crimson robes, brushing her hair up into a low ponytail. Izabella glanced in the mirror and smiled at herself encouragingly then left her room, locking the door behind her. She joined the crowd making their way to the Great Hall and walked along the House tables to take her seat with the other teachers.

“Morning,” she said, pulling a plate of toast towards her as her stomach grumbled loudly.
“Sleep well?” Snape asked her as he took a sip of his pumpkin juice. Izabella nodded and took a large bite of toast, noticing Harry at the Gryffindor table with Ron, Hermione and the Weasley twins.

“Your timetable.” Snape said, handing her a piece of parchment.
“Thanks,” Izabella said taking it off him and glancing at the list of her classes.

Just then, hundreds of owls soared through the windows, swooping around the Hall and landing onto the table in front of their owners. A large grey owl dropped in front of Izabella and stuck it's leg out to her. She took the letter and unfolded it with one hand as the owl flew off. She grinned as she scanned the letter, then clutched the parchment close to her chest, grabbing a stack of toast as she stood up.

“I'll see you later Sev.” she said over her shoulder as she left the Hall quickly.
“Where is your sister off to in such a hurry?” Umbridge asked Snape raising an eyebrow as she took a seat.
“You'd have to ask her.” he replied, watching her leave through narrowed eyes.
“Oh I shall.” Umbridge said sweetly as she picked up her knife and fork delicately.

“What's the matter with Izabella?” Hermione asked, causing Ron and Harry to turn and follow her gaze, watching Izabella hurry out of the Great Hall. Ron shrugged and continued eating, Harry turned back to Hermione and frowned.

“Maybe she's just nervous about her first day.” Hermione suggested and smiled at Harry. He nodded and finished his breakfast.
“We've got Izabella today.” Ron said as he scanned the timetable Professor McGonagall had just handed to him.
“Do you mean Professor Prince, Mr Weasley?” she said her lips in a thin line.
“Sorry Professor.” Ron mumbled, blushing slightly. She handed Harry his timetable then continued giving parchments out to the rest of Gryffindor.

Izabella paused at the bottom of the stairs, allowing a sea of students pass her then ran up the steps and into her teaching room. She rushed to the desk and sat down, taking a bite of toast then smiling as she read the letter.

Izzy,
Good luck for your first day, we all know you're going to be fabulous.
It's quiet here now you've all gone, but at least I can kick Kreacher without getting a lecture from Hermione. Say hello to Harry for me.
I miss you. Come home soon.

Izabella beamed and stroked the page lovingly, before grabbing some parchment and a quill.

Padfoot,
Don't be horrible to Kreacher. I will write later to tell you about my first day and will tell Harry you said hello after my lesson with him.
Look after yourself and please don't do anything stupid. I miss you too.
I'll be home before you know it,
I love you.
Izabella.

She paused and re-read the letter then smiled and folded up the parchment carefully. Izabella glanced at the clock on the wall in front of her biting her lip, then stood up, leaving the room quickly and making her way down the corridors.

She spotted Harry outside the History of Magic classroom and shouted him. He turned and smiled as he made his way towards her.

“Can I borrow Hedwig please?” she asked, breathing heavily. He nodded and looked at the letter in her hand.
“Who are-?”
“I'll tell you later. Thank you Harry!” she said as she rushed the Owlery.

She tied the letter to Hedwig's leg securely then stroked the white owl gently.
“Take this to Sirius please.” she whispered, leading the owl to the window. Hedwig chirped then flew out the window. Izabella leant against the edge of the window, watching her become a speck in the distance, then hurried back down to her classroom.

A group of first years were already queuing outside the door.
“Good morning everyone.” Izabella said cheerfully as she squeezed past the first years, leading them into her classroom to begin her lesson.
