Ok, this is the 2nd part of chapter 7. I would've posted earlier but I was out for about 2 hours, and woke up at like, noon cause I was up to the early hours of the morning 'yesterday'.
Since I can't find a good place to stop so I can start a third part, well, here's the rest of chapter 7! (I'll post chapter 8 later tomorrow, depends on when I get on, dunno when I have this riding lesson so yeah... most likely tomorrow evening, maybe Monday, cause I have a load of homework due on Monday that I haven't even really started)
Anyways, here's the last part of chapter 7!

Chapter 7
Ron's Problem (Part 2)

“Hermione...”
She scowled and slammed the door the Fat Lady hung upon, pushing past him. Ron stumbled backwards, nearly falling over.
“Hey!” the Fat Lady yelled angrily.
Ron didn’t bother to say the password; he started following Hermione, knowing full well it would be better to leave it a day or two.
“Look, I’m sorry...”
“Right,” Hermione scoffed, still walking down the corridors leading to the stairs. “Next you’re going to blame Malfoy for suggesting the next day for Hogsmeade.”
She started running down the stairs.
“If I did I would’ve done so last week!”
Hermione speed walked to the next fight of stairs and went down another flight, Ron still following.
“You know what your problem is?” she exclaimed as she landed on the 3rd floor
“What would that be?” Ron asked with a sarcastic edge, catching up a bit more.
Hermione went down another flight of stairs and stopped right before the door leading to the Heads’ common room. She spun around and faced Ron with an heated glare.
“You can’t stand the fact that the one year we’re having a good dance, Draco came up with the great idea!”
Ron’s mouth dropped.
“What... what did you just call Malfoy...?”
“His name,” she responded as if Ron was too stupid to understand anything.
“Since when’d you call ‘im by that?” Ron practically sputtered out.
“Since when’d you care?” Hermione shot at him, turning around to get closer to the painting of Sir Cadogan.
“I’m your friend, I have a right to know!” he responded, following her again.
Hermione stopped at the painting of Sir Cadogan. The knight seemed to be ready to ask to duel, or for the password, but got cut off.
“Well you aren’t acting much like a friend, Ronald!” she yelled at Ron.
“Wha... me?”
“Yeah, you. So what if I can’t tell you what the dance is going to be, you’ll find out tomorrow. So what if Draco thought of the idea. What does it matter right now?”
“I never said I needed to know it!”
“A student duel, much better!” Sir Cadogan commented happily.
Ron turned his attention to the painting beside Hermione.
“Sir... Sir Cadogan? How the bloody hell did you get here?”
“Thy is here to guard the door!”
“Door...?” Ron asked slowly.
“Welcome to the door leading to the Heads’ common room,” Hermione told Ron bitterly. “I’d offer you a tour, but if you can’t stand the thought of Draco thinking of an idea for a Halloween ball, I don’t see how you’d like a tour of the area he lives as well.”
“Bloody hell...” Ron muttered, rolling his eyes.
“I’m just stating the obvious, what’s wrong with that, bighead?” Hermione shot at him, glaring.
“Bighead? Where’d that come from?” Ron practically yelled.
“The mouth of the Head Girl, which I requmend you further don’t annoy,” Hermione said venomously.
“What’re you going to do? Give me a detention?”
“Don’t make dock points from my own house...” Hermione threatened with a cold gleam in her eyes.
“Like you’d do that,” Ron scoffed. “You don’t have the guts.”
Hermione’s mouth dropped.
“I don’t have the guts? I DON’T HAVE THE GUTS?! Who’s the one that stayed calm while in the Devils Snare in first year while a certain someone needed help to get out because they couldn’t listen? Who was the one that brewed a Polyjuice Potion, which by the way is illegal. Who was the one that used a Time-Turner in 3rd year for the benefit of Hagrid and Harry while you were delusional with a broken leg in the hospital wing? Who’s the one that blackmailed Rita Skeeter enough to make her pull out of writing for The Daily Prophet? Who’s the one that looked after Hagrid’s half-brother, a real giant? ME! So please, explain how I’m gutless if you’re the one that can’t even stand being in the same room as a spider barely the size of your pinky nail!” she exploded, seething angry now. “So don’t tell me I don’t have the guts to dock point from my own house, because I can, and you never know if I will!”
“You try being in the same cave as a spider twenty times the size of you, then you’d see what it’s like to stare fear in the eyes!” Ron hollered back.
“You do know a boggart is, right?” Hermione retorted, eyes flashing angrily now. “Your little dancing spider? You can’t exactly fly away in a car from that one.”
Ron shivered at the memories of the tap-dancing spider and the Ministry’s flying car helping them him with Aragog’s family attempting to eat him.
“Got a problem, Weasel-bee?” Draco’s voice sneered down the hall.
Hermione turned her poisonous look from Ron to Draco. She attempted to keep it when she looked at Draco.
“Yeah, thanks for adding on, Malfoy,” Ron retorted, turning around and glaring at Draco.
He tisked disapprovingly. “Not a good way to treat your superiors, Weasel-Bee. Ten points from Gryffindor for back-sassing.”
Just outside the Great Hall, the hourglass that held the house points for Gryffindor dropped slightly, bringing Slytherin House in the lead by five points.
“Abusing powers again, Malfoy?” Hermione shot at him.
“It’s unfortunate you can’t dock points for being a Mudblood,” Draco remarked, smirking.
“Ten points from Slytherin for calling the Head Girl a bad name,” Hermione retorted, saying ‘bad name’ in a scathing way.
Outside the Great Hall, the hourglass containing the Slytherin House points dropped ten, bringing Gryffindor back in the lead by five points.
“It’s a truthful label,” Draco responded. “Nothing wrong with that.”
“It’s an insult, Malfoy, you should know there’s a difference,” Ron replied defensively.
“He can’t technically know the difference if he doesn’t know what ‘truth’ is,” Hermione pointed out, imitating Draco’ smirk..
Draco attempted to keep his cold, guarded face up. He always hated it when people attempted to use his trademark smirk, but Hermione pulled it off in an alluring way.
“It’s just like calling him a...”
“Don’t say it,” Hermione warned through gritted teeth, cutting Ron off.
Draco gave a mocking smirk, knowing what Ron would say as well. Ron looked back at Hermione, eyes narrowed slightly, and he walked away. Hermione turned to Sir Cadogan.
“Pumpkin pastries,” she told the knight, hard face still on slightly.
For the first time in her life, she saw the knight smile and open the door, letting her and then Draco inside. She went into the common room.
“What did Weasel-Bee want?” Draco asked.
Hermione stopped and turned around to face him.
“He was supposedly apologizing to me,” she responded.
“What for?”
“I went down to Hagrid’s with him and Harry... don’t look at me like that!... and then Hagrid asked about the Halloween dance and if we had any plans and that made Ron ask if we were having a costume party again, and all I said was no and he asked about it and all I said was that we’re using your idea, and he got all mad that you made this new idea and he just about made another Death Eater comment when I cut him off and got ****** at him.” Hermione shrugged. “Overall not much,” she said mock cheerily. “So what were you doing out?”
“The usual, finding different first years to torment against my will,” he replied with a mocking grin as he wrapped his arms around Hermione . She did the same to him and they hugged. Draco pulled away slightly and looked down at Hermione.
“And don’t smirk at me when someone else is around,” he said.
“I love you, too.” She smirked at him.
Draco smiled and they kissed.

Ok, this is so totally random, but I'm writing chapter 15 right now and I was typing Draco's name and I thought of the song 'Bingo' (the 'there was a dog who had a farm and BIngo was his name-o...' song). Well I just thought Draco's name (since it sends in O), and put my own words to it!

This is how it goes:
There... was a Slytherin bad boy and his is Draco Malfoy... D-R-A-C-O, D-R-A-C-O, D-R-A-C-O and Draco was his name-o!

And it keeps going until it's just 'O' for spelling his name, but yeah... I just randomly thought that when I was writing a part in Chapter 15. Crazy, eh?
Anyways, I'll try and post chapter 8 tomorrow. It MIGHT be another long chapter (I stopped at chapter 7 for a bit, and once I started back up I did a few chapters that're like, 5 pages long), so it MIGHT be a few parts. If it is a few parts, I'll post them all tomorrow (since it's already done)

Your F.F writer,
Sarah

Talking Chapter 8: Outside the Common Room

Oh great, I put in the wrong title for chapter 7... (I have one chapter named 'Ron's Problem' and another named 'Ron's Immaturity', and the immaturity is for chapter 13...)
Anyways, here's chapter 8 (kinda fast to post I know, since no one's really posted yet, but whatever, I can easily afford to post chapters quickly cause I'm so far ahead writing-wise compared to posting).
-felt like putting in two different colours for no specific reason-
Oh, Chapter 8 is my all-time favourite chapter! Leaves ya on a cliffie, so I'll make sure to wait til someone posts after this one to post chapter 9. It's REALLY long, and I don't wanna break it into 2 parts, so bear with me (it's over 5 pages on MS Word)

Chapter 8
Outside the Common Room

“Masquerade Ball?” Harry mumbled as he read one of the fliers Hermione made when she put him up that next day. He turned to her. “That was Malfoy’s plan? That’s it?” he asked.
Hermione nodded as if it was obvious.
“That’s not much different than...”
“Would you rather have a costume party to remember your last year here?” Hermione snapped. She wasn’t in the mood to hear his criticisms about what she thought was a great idea.
“That’s true, but still... you sure Malfoy actually thought of this instead of him claiming he thought of it?” Harry asked somewhat warily.
“I told you myself he thought of the idea. Why would I help him like that?” she pointed out (lied).
“Well you’re almost always in the Heads’ common room, maybe he brainwashed you somehow,” Harry suggested as they entered the Great Hall for breakfast. Hermione scoffed and rolled her eyes.
Together, they joined Ginny, Lavender, Parvati, Dean and Seamus for breakfast. Hermione sat in between Ginny and Lavender. Ginny was still cross with Hermione about the day before, so she didn’t say anything to her.
A few moments later, Ron joined the group. He took the open seat next to Dean, which was farthest from Hermione.
“Great idea for the Halloween dance, Hermione,” Lavender and Parvati commented at the same time as the food appeared on the table in front of them.
“Thanks,” Hermione responded, not wanting to get technical with the fact that it was really Draco’s idea. “Got some help.”
Ron scoffed. Hermione looked at him out of the corner of her eye and glared at him that way.
“I still don’t see how it’s ‘ingenious’,” Harry responded, looking at Hermione with a small grin.
“Harry...” she started with an annoyed tone riding.
“I’m kidding, Hermione,” he cut her off. “Loosen up.” He took a bite of toast.
“Yeah, ‘Mione, loosen up,” Ron mumbled under his breath as he buttered a piece of toast.
“What?” she asked in a fake cheery way.
Ron stuffed his mouth with the whole piece of toast he just buttered. “Nothing,” he responded, but it sounded more like ‘no-en’.
She rolled her eyes and continued eating. She started to look up, to say something to Harry, when she noticed a pair of sullen grey eyes on her. Hermione never noticed that they seemed so somber until now; she still didn’t understand why they always seemed to look that way.
Hermione smiled lightly, just enough for Draco to notice, but no one across the table seemed to notice.
“Whatcha lookin’ at?” Harry asked, turning around in his seat. He noticed Draco’s eyes on Hermione. Harry gave him a dirty look, and Draco scowled in return, then going back to picking at his food. Harry turned back to ask Hermione what it was about, but she wasn’t even looking, so he just assumed she didn’t know.
After breakfast, everyone went back to their common room and got their books. Hermione ran to get her bag and leave, going to Charms. It was the only class she, Harry and Ron could actually sit together, but when she got there she saw Harry and Ron sitting together, but her seat was taken by Seamus. She stood in the class, looking for a spare desk.
Professor Flitwick started climbing to the top of his pile of books he used to stand on in front of the class. He got to the top and noticed Hermione was still standing in the back, looking around.
“Take a seat!” he said to her.
Hermione looked up at him, surprised. “Where?”
Professor Flitwick started looking over the desks.
“Mister Malfoy, would you please move over one?”
Hermione’s eyes widened. She didn’t exactly want to sit with a group of Slytherins, let alone with the one she was supposed to pretend to loathe.
“Why?” he snapped back.
“To make room for Miss Granger of course!”
He looked disgusted.
“Why can’t Pot-Head or Weasel-Bee move?” he responded, staying firmly in his seat.
“Because there isn’t any room over there, and I’m asking you,” Flitwick replied, a hint of impatience bore in his voice.
“Well then ask someone else,” Draco pointed out, shrugging.
“Act less like a child and more like the Head Boy you are, Mister Malfoy,” the professor replied. He tried not to snap, but everyone heard it in his response.
Draco scowled and slid over into the middle of the bench, leaving a seat for Hermione.
“Move your books,” Flitwick sighed.
“Well you did say for me to move, you never said anything about my supplies.”
The Slytherins surrounding him snickered.
“Move your supplies,” Flitwick repeated.
Draco rolled his eyes and slid them towards him. He kept his scowl as Hermione dropped her books onto the desk. She sat through the class, trying her best to pretend that she was forced against her will to sit by Slytherins.
Pansy Parkinson, who was sitting on the other side of Draco, started scribbling something onto a small bit of parchment and slid it down to the other end towards Hermione. It stopped in front of her, and she opened it.
If you know what’s best for you, you’ll never come anywhere near our table again, let alone look over here, Mudblood. Or else.
Out of the corner of his eye, Draco read the note. He resisted the urge to turn Pansy into a cow.
Hermione scoffed inwardly and started writing a response.
What’s the worst such a cow like you could do to me? You can barely levitate a feather, let alone a person. So leave me alone if you know what’s best for you.
She slid it back to Pansy. She looked slightly confused, but opened it. Her mouth dropped when she finished reading it.
“How dare you call me a cow, you little Mudblood!” she screeched.
Everyone in the class jumped at Pansy’s shrill voice.
“I’m just pointing out the obvious, Parkinson,” Hermione responded in a calm voice, continuing to write the assignment Flitwick gave the class.
“No fighting in class!” Flitwick practically squeaked. It was unheard by everyone, all attention was on Pansy and Hermione.
Pansy was fuming mad now. Unable to think of a retort, she stood up, aimed her wand at a book in front out Hermione and did a quick flick, mumbling a spell. A light came out of the wand, hitting a thick book that was on the desk in front of Hermione, and it was levitated up in the air and it whacked Hermione in the face.
“Watch your mouth,” Hermione commented as she stood up. She did a quick and complicated flick and Pansy’s tongue became stuck to the roof of her mouth. She was squealing in attempts to get it unattached.
“Stop!” Flitwick yelled. “Detention for the both of you!”
Another light came out of Pansy’s wand and Hermione was knocked onto her back onto the floor. Suddenly, without a word from anyone else in the classroom, Pansy was thrown up into the air and was hanging by her ankles. Her robes flipped over her head, and the bottom of her skirt flew all the way over her head, exposing her pale legs and pink flowered underwear.
Hermione stood up and saw this. She started laughing along with half of the class.
“Who did that?” Professor Flitwick yelled, looking around the classroom. The only other person in the room that noticeably held their wand up was Harry Potter.
“Double detention for Miss Granger, Miss Parkinson and now Mister Potter!” he exclaimed.
“What?” Harry said aloud. He didn’t know who cast what he assumed was the Levicorpus spell, but he did know he didn’t do it.
Pansy dropped to the floor and stood up. Before she could send another spell flying at Hermione, she was frozen to the spot. Hermione was about to cast a hex on Pansy, but she found herself also frozen on the spot.
“Double detention for you two,” Flitwick told them. “If you even do so much as point a wand at one another in this classroom after I unfreeze you, I’ll make it triple detention and a five page essay.”
Flitwick turned to Harry.
“And you, Mister Potter, I will see today at seven, along with these two ladies.”
Hermione and Pansy were able to move again. They both sat back down angrily. Hermione went back to working on homework, and Pansy just sat in her seat, still fuming.
A few minutes later, the loud, echoing bell indicated the end of class. As soon as it did, Hermione gathered her supplies and stormed out of the Charms class, not bothering to wait for anyone else, since Harry was with Ron now, and she didn’t want to talk with him now.
She went through the rest of her classes sitting by herself mainly, the only other person taking a chance and doing so was Parvati and Lavender standing with her during Care of Magical Creatures class.
At seven, Harry and Hermione made their way to Charms class and were told to sit at opposite ends of the room. At seven thirty, Pansy finally showed up.
“Miss Parkinson, five page essay on how to be on time for class in my hands tomorrow morning,” Flitwick told her.
“What... five pages?”
“You don’t like it? Six pages then.”
Pansy’s face went red as she sat down. Harry and Hermione snickered. At eight thirty, Harry and Hermione were excused Pansy stayed behind to serve the extra half hour she was late. Before leaving, Hermione was told to show up the next night at seven as well.
“Did you get any homework done before going there?” Harry asked Hermione as they started walking through the halls.
“Only the Charms assignment, and that was in class,” Hermione responded. “I’m going to be up all night finishing that Transfiguration assignment of changing Crookshanks into another animal, the Potions essay, the explanation on how to tell the difference between an Inferi and a mummy in Defense Against the Darks...”
“You didn’t get anything done with the few minutes you had between dinner and going to detention?” Harry asked, astounded. He never knew Hermione to put off such important work (in her opinion).
“Like you said, it was only a few minutes,” Hermione responded defensively. “What’d you get done?”
Harry was silent, the only sound was the echoing noise of their feet hitting the ground.
“Where’s your common room anyways?”
Hermione snapped her head up. She got lost in her thoughts about how she’d be able to finish her work.
“What?”
“Where’s your common room?” Harry repeated slowly.
“For some strange reason I thought Ron told you,” Hermione replied with a sarcastic edge.
“Why would he...?”
“He followed me the whole way there yesterday.”
“Why’d he follow you?”
They started running up stairs.
“Sad attempts to apologize.”
“He doesn’t see why you’re so mad at him.”
Hermione stopped halfway up another flight of stairs.
“What?”
“He doesn’t understand what got you so riled up yesterday. Why were you anyways?”
Hermione sighed and started walking up the stairs again.
“Honest question, Mione.” he said, following her again. They were now on the second floor, he was following her to the Heads’ common room without realizing it.
“It’s just that Ron’s always attempting to make the Draco being a Death Eater comment whenever he can, and he just happened to get on my last nerve when he said that and hated the fact we’re using Draco’s idea.”
“That’s it?”
Hermione stopped a few steps from Sir Cadogan. She turned around to face Harry.
“What do you mean by ‘that’s it?’?” she demanded.
“Well, no offense Hermione but... that’s not much of a reason to be mad at him.”
Hermione scoffed.
“You obviously don’t listen to Ronald as much as you think.”
“I listen to him more than you do,” Harry retorted defensively.
Hermione’s mouth dropped.
“All I do is listen to him and you! I might be chatty when I feel like it, but it’s mostly listening him jabber on about something relating to Quiddich or something like that. Honestly, when something doesn’t go right, it’s like Draco is his scapegoat!”
Harry looked at Hermione in a peculiar way.
“Since when’d you call Malfoy by Draco?”
“Since that was his first name...” she responded slowly, shrugging.
“For the past six years you’ve called him Malfoy. What’s been happening to you lately?”
“So I have to have a reason to call someone by their name now, Harry?”
“Since it’s someone that refers to you as... a you-know-what and is our enemy!” he exclaimed. “Has Malfoy brainwashed you?”
“No, he hasn’t!” Hermione yelled. “Just because I’m using a first name, it doesn’t mean I’m being controlled or something!”
“Another student duel?”
Harry stopped before he started to respond. He walked past Hermione and saw the crazy knight.
“Cadogan?” he sputtered.
“Harry Potter! Pleasure seeing thee again.”
Harry turned and looked at Hermione.
“Since when was he here?”
“Since he replaced one of the nobles for no apparent reason. Been here for a few weeks now,” Hermione replied, shrugging.
“What would he need to replace?”
Hermione looked at Harry hintingly.
“You mean he’s... this is...?”
“The Heads’ common room? Yeah, welcome to the door leading to the dormitories of the head girl and head boy.”
Harry looked at the door behind Sir Cadogan, then back at Hermione.
“Here? On the second floor?”
“Yeah...”
“Huh.”
Hermione raised an eyebrow. Harry stood there for a few moments, leaving an awkward silence between them.
“Um... can I get to my common room now?” she asked after attempting to get to Sir Cadogan’s painting.
“Oh, sorry.” Harry stepped back just enough for Hermione to get to the Heads’ door. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow then.”
Hermione smiled and nodded. She hugged him goodbye. She pulled away, but before she knew it, she was carefully pulled back in, but not for a hug, but a kiss. She couldn’t believe it, her best friend, ‘famous’ Harry Potter, was kissing her.
She heard hinges creaking. Pulling away, she looked to her side and saw the Heads’ common room door open, and there stood Draco, watching them. Behind his guarded expression, Hermione saw the hurt underneath. He turned around and went back into the common room, slamming the door closed behind him.

Ok, I'm offically on the last chapter of this Fan Fic, and I'm gonna ensure there is a sequel, cause I already have ideas for it (well, it'll be a bit shorter most likely, but overall there'll be a sequel).
So yeah, I'll gonna post chapter 9 today, maybe in a few mins, depends But yeah, I'm on the last chapter (16 chapters all together, since I'm outta ideas for the final year), so it'll be no problem with the speed I'm gonna post at now (there'll probably be a day or two of a gap)
-goes to look over/edit chapter 9-
Most likely next post'll be chapter 9

Wink Chapter 9: Hermione's Note

Yeah, well not much editing this time, isn't as long as chapter 8, so yeah, here it is.
Chapter 10 will most likely be posted tomorrow. (don't see any reason to hold it off... unless you all want me to slow down I don't mind waiting if anyone has any problems with the speed of posting)
P.S: I don't like having one colour for everything in a post, so as you can tell, it's just two different colours
P.P.S: I'm assuming everyone now knows about my rambling 'problem' by now

Chapter 9
Hermione’s Note

Hermione was quiet for the rest of the week. She tried talking to Draco, trying to explain what happened, but he ignored her, not responding. The only time he did talk to her was when he was with Crabbe and Goyle, teasing her, Harry and Ron someway or another. Hermione noticed he was harsher about it, which bothered her slightly.
Draco wasn’t sure what to believe with what Hermione was trying to tell him. He never believed in love, thinking it was only stories people made up, but when he was with Hermione, he knew he was wrong. With seeing Harry kissing her, it broke his heart. It was then he truly realized how much he truly loved Hermione Granger.

“The ball is in two days, who’re you going with?” Ginny asked Hermione excitedly as they walked outside of the castle once all classes were over.
“So soon?” was all Hermione could get out.
“Time flies, huh?”
“Yeah...”
“So are you going with anyone?” Ginny asked again.
“Not sure...”
Hermione truly wasn’t sure anymore. When Draco suggested the Masquerade Ball, he asked her to go with him. Since the night Harry kissed her in front of him, he hasn’t said a word to her, barely even looking in her direction anymore. She wasn’t sure if they were ‘fighting’, broken up, or anything else.
“How can you be not sure?” Ginny asked, slightly confused. They stopped under a large oak tree and sat under it.
“Someone... asked me, and I said yes, but we haven’t spoken in the past little while about it,” Hermione responded, shrugging.
“Well go to him and ask. It’s not that hard,” Ginny answered as if it was obvious.
“I have, but every time I try, he doesn’t reply.”
“Who is this guy?”
Hermione thought quickly.
“Why do you want to know?” she asked, attempting to stall Ginny enough so she could think.
“I want to have a talk with him.”
Hermione laughed as if it was a joke.
“Trust me, you don’t.”
“Why...?”
“Just trust me, Ginny.”
Ginny dropped it, not understanding why Hermione was persistent about it.
“So... who’re you going with?” Hermione asked, trying to engage in small talk so it wouldn’t feel so awkward.
“Dean.”
“I thought you two broke up last year.”
“Yeah, well it’s a one-time thing. Besides, like you said before, everyone dances with whoever else really, date or not. I’ll probably just be with him for one dance and that’s it.”
Hermione shrugged. She never thought about that. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal that the Head Girl might be going to her own ball alone. They sat in silence for awhile, and eventually some other girls joined them. They all chatted, Hermione listening mainly, until the bell rang, indicating dinner. The girls walked into the Great Hall and grouped together with Harry, Ron, Seamus, Neville and Dean.
“Oi Hermione, are you going to you’re that dance with someone?” Ron asked curiously as he started piling his plate. He sat directly across from Hermione.
“It’s a long story you shouldn’t ask about, apparently,” Ginny told him.
“Really?” Ron asked, looking at Hermione. “Care to explain?”
“Not really,” she replied bluntly as she started cutting some of her food.
Ron was taken aback. He looked at his sister and the look she gave him indicated he should drop it. He went back to stuffing his face with food.
As Hermione ate, she couldn’t help but miss the feeling of being watched. It seemed that feeling disappeared within the last week. She got it occasionally, but she found it wasn’t the person she was hoping it was. Most of the time, it was Harry. She got the feeling and looked up. She saw Harry looking at her curiously.
“What?” she snapped. She was getting sick of him watching her, always in that same curious look he gave her.
Harry looked back down at his food, eating a bit more of it again. She heard the voices around her chatting, but she didn’t input anything on her mind. When she was nearly done, she got that watched feeling. She sighed irritably and got up, leaving her plate half-eaten, leaving the Great Hall. She walked up two flights of stairs and went up to the painting of Sir Cadogan.
“Thou wish to duel?”
“Give it up, Cadogan!” she yelled.
“Verbal duel ye wish for?”
“NO DUEL!” she screamed, covering her ears.
Sir Cadogan sighed.
“Password?” he asked, imitating Hermione’s snippy voice.
Hermione’s cold glare steamed through the painting.
“Butterbeer.”
“Wrong.”
“Don’t make me go down to...”
“Password?” Sir Cadogan cut Hermione off, smirking.
“Butt-er-beer,” she said, pronounciating the syllables.
“It’s only fitting that the password is ‘masquerade’,” Sir Cadogan said as he opened the Heads’ common room door.
“Very funny indeed, change the password for the millionth time without a word and it’s only been a month and a bit,” she muttered as she walked in. She walked through the common room and up into her room after giving the password. She pulled out a piece of parchment and started writing.
Malfoy,
It’s been a week and we haven’t said anything. Honestly, I’m really sorry about what you saw, but that wasn’t my fault, I was just saying bye to Harry after he followed me to the door. I guess this is what we get for keeping our relationship secret (not blaming you about it, I’m just saying). I’ve been trying to tell you about what happened, but since you’re ignoring me verbally, I thought I may as well write this.
So I got out detention after your little cow of a friend got me into it, and I left, and Harry followed me. On the way up the stairs, we were talking, and he brought up the day Ron and I had a fight, and we had our own little spat about it once we stopped at the door leading to the common room. We got over the spat, and we were saying goodbye, and I gave him a quick (friendly) hug, but he took it a step further. Trust me, I had no idea he’d do that, I didn’t kiss him back.
I’m really sorry this all happened, but I miss having you around. Can we just forget about it ever happening?
Love,
Hermione

She bit her lip as she read over what she wrote, and she went back into the common room. Seeing it empty, she quietly walked up the stairs leading to Draco’s dormitory. A painting of a man sitting on a horse, grazing, stood in front of her.
“Is Draco Malfoy in there?” Hermione asked quietly.
The man looked up.
“No. Why do you ask?”
“Well I’m slipping this,” she held the paper up. “Under the door. Can you tell him that I left a note for him inside and that it’s on the floor?”
“What’s it for?”
“The note? It’s something between him and me I would rather prefer not to share.”
The man rolled his eyes.
“So tell him that when you see him, please.”
“Fine.”
Hermione bent down and slipped the paper underneath the door and ran back down the stairs. Seeing the common room still empty, she smiled. Going back up to her room, she decided to get a head start on homework so she wouldn’t have to worry about it after the ball on Sunday.
After another few hours, she noticed it was five minutes to 10pm and she finished her homework. Going down to the common room, she went to check the times for patrolling. She picked up the sheet and looked for the day October 29th.
“Fourth floor in five minutes,” a voice a bit behind Hermione said quietly.
Hermione placed the paper back down and slowly turned around to face Draco.
“Thanks,” she said. She was about to go upstairs to get her Head student robes on when she was stopped.
“‘A cow of a friend’, eh? Couldn’t have said it better.”
Hermione smiled. She kept going up the stairs and quickly changed in her room. She swiftly walked down the stairs and back into the common room. She noticed Draco waited close to the door, back turned to her and leaning on his shoulder against the wall, holding up a piece of paper.

Ok,I have offically finished the last chapter of this F.F! I love it, it's pretty much setting itself up for the sequel I"m starting (I'm starting the first chapter of it), so yeah.
I'm posting chapter 10 tomorrow (hopefully, it's kinda busy). I've done a thorough editting of all chapters, so I'll just be posting them from now on.
WHo knows, if I'm really bored within the next twenty minutes (which I doubt), I might post chapter 10 then, but it'l most likely be tomorrow afternoon

Cool Chapter 10: The Masquerade Ball!

Ok, I'm posting chapter 10 like, right now. Since I editted it last night, I don't feel like going over it for like, the millionth time and yeah... so if I really wanna change something, I'll change the post.
Anyways, there's only six more chapters after this, and I'm already starting on the sequel. I'm debating on some ideas I had... (I started the firstchapter over cause of my debating But yeah, I'm starting on it already. This F.F might be kinda short, but I'm all out of ideas for things that happen in 7th year! So many more options after, I'll try to make the sequel a lot longer But it's cause I did this all in advance, that's why itime's like, passing by really fast)
Anyways, here's chapter 10! Again, kinda long, but not super long!
P.S: I found I love Green now...

Chapter 10
Masquerade Ball

October 31st came around. There was a trip to Hogsmeade for some people that day so they could get dress robes, some to even get masks they haven’t gotten yet. Hermione strolled down the streets of Hogsmeade with Ginny. She didn’t feel like joined Lavender and Parvati, they were getting on her nerves.
“So what colour dress are you going to get? Because I’m hoping they have...”
Ginny went on. Hermione was starting to consider going on her own, Ginny talked non-stop about what she’s going to wear for the ball later that day.
Together, they walked into the new dress robes store in Hogsmeade, which was so new, it didn’t have a sign up showing its name. Despite how new the store was, it became increasingly popular. Together, they walked in and searched for a dress.
“How about this one?” Ginny asked as she pulled out a black dress. It had tank top style that had a pink strap that sat just below where the waist line was supposed to be, and below that it ruffled slightly that went all the way down to your ankles.
“I love it! Try it on,” Hermione said. When Ginny went into a change room, Hermione started going through the racks of dresses again. A few minutes later, Ginny came out in the black dress she picked out.
“Well?”
“It’s perfect!”
Ginny smiled and went back into the change rooms. She came back out and went to pay for the dress, and joined Hermione with helping her find another dress. They found a dress identical to the one Hermione wore to the Yule Ball in 4th year, but in a baby blue, progressively getting darker as the ruffles at the bottom of the dress neared the floor. Finding it was a perfect fit, Hermione bought it, and the two of them left the store. They walked into Gladrags Wizardwear and got masks.
Checking her watch, Ginny said it was only noon. They had seven hours until the Masquerade Ball, so they decided to go to Madam Puddifoot’s for some tea.
“Masks won’t be able to hide the fact you’re a mudblood, Granger!”
Hermione and Ginny looked in front of them. They saw Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle a couple yards ahead of them.
“And that you’re just a disgraced, poor Weasley,” Malfoy added as they got closer.
“A mask can’t cover your big, ugly, fat ego, Malfoy,” Hermione shot at him. “So just leave us alone, you little prat.”
“Ooh,” Malfoy said to Crabbe and Goyle in a disdainful way. “Our little Head Girl can’t cover her mouth when it comes to her superiors.”
“Hope you don’t mean yourselves,” Ginny spat.
“How dare you speak to me! You little blood traitor.”
“How dare you speak to her like that, so-called Head Boy,” Hermione retorted defensively. “Not acting like the superior your ego so claims.”
“Shove off, Malfoy.”
Malfoy’s eyes flashed angrily for a moment. It was so quick, Ginny and Hermione thought they imagined it. It took Hermione another moment to realize she did see it, and she understood why.
“What’ll you do if I don’t, Potter? Take it out of my mouth?” Malfoy sneered.
Hermione refrained from giving him a warning glare.
“You’ve got a sick mind, ferret,” Harry practically spat at Malfoy, now standing by Ginny.
“I bet he wants it,” Hermione inputted, grinning triumphantly. It looked more like a smirk than a grin to Malfoy, who clenched his jaw. Crabbe and Goyle glared heatedly at her.
Before Malfoy could respond, Ginny and Hermione pushed the door open into Madam Puddifoot’s, leaving the three Slytherins and Harry outside. The two of the got some tea, and they joined Lavender and Parvati at a table.
“So are you going to the ball with anyone?” Lavender asked Hermione eagerly.
“Yeah, how did that work out?” Ginny asked, grinning slightly.
“Well I talked to the guy a few days ago, and we still are going, Ginny,” Hermione answered her.
“Who with?” Parvati asked intently as she took a sip of her tea.
“Well... it’s a secret,” Hermione thought fast. As soon as it came out, she wanted to hit her head against the table; it was a horrible lie, in her opinion.
The three of them raised an eyebrow.
“So who’re you going with, Parvati?” Hermione asked, trying to sway the conversation slightly.
“I’m just going with Lavender and Padma, we all don’t really have official dates, and from what I heard, you don’t really spend much time with your date, to busy dancing with others,” Parvati responded, shrugging.
“So are you going with a guy or friend?” Lavender asked, smiling.
“Guy...” Hermione replied as if it was obvious.
“What house is he from?” Lavender asked. Hermione saw what she was trying to do as soon as she asked.
“Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, maybe Slytherin,” Hermione shrugged it off.
Lavender and Parvati rolled their eyes. They dropped the question; they knew they wouldn’t get it out of Hermione if she didn’t want to tell them.
“Hermione?” Ginny asked slowly.
“Yeah?”
“When Malfoy said that comment about Harry taking... it out his mouth or whatever, do you have any idea what he meant?”
Hermione flushed. She forgot she never told Ginny, but she didn’t really want to tell her, because with her habit of not always keeping secrets to herself, so of course Hermione didn’t want to tell Ginny, let alone anyone else. She would’ve thought Harry said something to Ron, who would most likely slip it to Ginny.
“Mione?” Ginny saw Hermione’s cheeks go red.
“Oh, um... I have an idea of what he meant...”
“So he didn’t just make it up or anything?”
“Yeah, he didn’t.”
“So what was it about?”
“Something Harry did, why else would Malfoy say it directly to him?”
Ginny looked confused. A split second later, her face filled with realization.
“You... Harry?” she sputtered out.
Hermione attempted to keep a straight face. She still couldn’t believe Harry kissed her, but in front of Draco, her own boyfriend. She was slightly mad at him now, even with her and Draco ‘back together’, she was even angrier with Harry before then.
“So he... kissed you?” Ginny asked slowly.
Hermione nodded slowly.
“How does Malfoy now?”
“He saw it, how else?”
“You know, find out from someone or something. But what about you and Harry? Are you going with him to the ball or something?”
“No, I’m not!” Hermione exclaimed. “No one other than who I’m going with knows... who I’m going with! So just stop asking, I’m not saying!”
With that, Hermione grabbed her bag and left, leaving half a cup of tea where she was sitting. She practically stormed out and walked back to Hogwarts.
“Thou wish to duel?”
“Not now, Sir Cadogan,” Hermione snapped.
“Sounds like thy is in for a verbal duel.”
“I’m not in the mood to duel at all. I never have, and I never will!” Hermione exploded.
“Are you sure about that?”
“Are you sure you don’t want to go back to the 7th floor?”
“Password?”
“Masquerade.”
Sir Cadogan opened the door, to Hermione’s slight surprise. She’d never gotten the password right on the first attempt. Apparently the knight didn’t bother to change the password yet. Bet he’ll change it tonight or tomorrow... Hermione thought as she went up to her room. Dropping her bags in there, she left. She knew Ron didn’t go to Hogsmeade, he already got new dress robes that weren’t as feminine as the lacy ones he had at the Yule Ball, and he didn’t want to go ‘shopping’ all day. Hermione wanted to talk with him.
“Password?” the Fat Lady asked.
“Wicopies.”
She opened the door, and Hermione stepped in. As she came into the common room, she saw Neville coming down the stairs that led to the goys dormitories.
“Is Ron up there?” she asked.
Neville looked up and saw Hermione.
“Oi, haven’t seen you in here for awhile, Mione.”
“Hello to you to... but is Ron up there?”
Neville appeared to be in thought.
“I think so... why do you ask?”
“Want to talk to him,” Hermione responded, shrugging. It’s not like there was anything else she would want him for, well, that she could think of that is.
A few moments later, Ron came into the common room.
“Yeah?” he asked plainly.
“I just a question really.”
“Go on.”
“Has Harry talked to you lately?”
Ron raised a questioning eyebrow. He was slightly taken aback; he thought it was a ‘different’ question.
“Obviously, why?”
“Well did he talk to you about detention with Flitwick?”
“No...”
“After detention?”
“He said you and him had a quick spat.”
“Is that it?”
“I thought you said this was going to be one question.”
Hermione rolled her eyes.
“Did he say anything other than ‘just a spat’?”
Ron appeared to be in thought. Hermione rarely saw him look thoughtful before in the seven years she knew him.
“Yeah, he said he knows where your common room is.”
“Anything else?”
“Not that I remember. Why’re you asking me about it?”
“So you don’t know, haven’t told Ginny?”
“Told Ginny what?” he exclaimed. “Is there something you’re trying to tell me? Because if so, just... say it. Better than playing this endless question game.”
Hermione sighed.
“Never mind,” she waved it off. She started to head to the portrait hole when she stopped. She turned around and saw Ron still standing in the common room, completely befuddled.
“Are you going with anyone to the ball?” Hermione asked. As soon as she did, she couldn’t believe how she phrased it. It made her sound like she wanted to go with him.
“Not that I know of. What about you?”
“Yeah, I am.”
Ron face seemed to fall ever so slightly.
“But I’ll save a dance for you,” Hermione offered. “Besides, people aren’t really staying with the same person throughout the dance. It’d be pretty hard to find the exact same person with a mask on.”
“Never thought of that... so it doesn’t really mater if you have a date or not then?”
“Not really, I guess.”
“Huh,” was all Ron said.
As Hermione opened the portrait hole, she heard Ron mumble ‘I’ve got to talk to Harry more...’

“Come on! Who’re you meeting with?” Ginny pestered.
“It doesn’t really matter, it’s not like we’re all spending the whole night with the same guy,” Hermione shrugged as the two of them walked down the corridors towards the Great Hall. She kept on flipping some of her hair forwards. He had it down, but most of it was perfectly straight. There were some areas of hair that was its natural, curly state that sat overtop of the straight hair, which was mainly underneath. Her royal, dark purple mask covered most of her face. She was only able to find Ginny because her red hair stuck out easily; her pale gold mask made it stick out without a problem.
“Is that Dean?” Hermione asked as she pointed to a group of Gryffindor guys.
“You’re right! I’ll see you later, have fun with your mystery man.” Ginny hurried off and joined Dean.
Hermione walked down the stairs gracefully and pushed through the crowds waiting outside the closed doors of the Great Hall. After making her way through, she pushed one of the doors open just enough to let her pass through, and then closed the door. She gasped when she looked inside. It was like the Halloween Feast, but better. The enchanted ceiling was pitch black, the only light came from the floating jack-o’-lanterns, all carved differently. Looking at the tables, the cloths were fringed with orange, the large tables had food on top, and the smaller tables were only cloth-covered. Chairs were circled around the small tables, about eight for each table. in the middle of the room, in front of the record player (Draco and Hermione couldn’t get a band to play for the night), was the dance floor. It was just as large as it had been on the night of the Yule Ball. Hermione could only imagine what the elves went through to get this to work.
There was a stage in the front of the room, and there sat a cat. It appeared dark, nearly black, because of the lighting, but Hermione knew better.
The large doors flew open and light flashed into the room. Hermione turned around and was nearly blinded, it was so bright compared to the dimness of the Great Hall. Looking at the stage again, Professor McGonagall was standing in front of her.
“Would you say we’re ready, Miss Granger?”
“I would say so, professor.”
Two of the teachers’ outlines appeared beside Professor McGonagall, and with the flick of a wand, both doors opened. The other teacher aimed their wand up at the ceiling, and moonlight shone above them. Hermione walked away from the three teachers.
“May I have this dance?”
Hermione looked up and saw a tall guy standing in front of her, hand in front of her. His face was covered by an ivory crescent moon mask. It matched his pale skin perfectly, and only a few shades lighter than his hair. Hermione smiled and took his hand. She was lead to the dance floor, and together, they danced for the first two songs. On the third song, they broke apart.
“Would you like to dance?”
Hermione was just getting off the floor when she saw an guy with emerald green mask, it matched his almond-shaped eyes perfectly. She wanted to take a break and see if she could find Lavender, Parvati or Ginny, and she really didn’t to dance with Harry all that much, but she forced herself to accept and she danced with him for one song.
Throughout the rest of the ball, she danced with four other guys in a row, took a break for one song, and another came up to her and they danced.
“Good evening Hogwarts students! I trust you’ve had a fabulous time at our Masquerade Ball. Unfortunately, this enjoyable night has come to an end. I ask for our Head students to come up as they make a quick speech,” Professor McGonagall announced.
Hermione walked away and up to the stage. The still-masked Draco stood waiting.
“First of all, if everyone would take off their masks,” Hermione started.
She was revolted to find she just danced with Blaise Zabini, who looked equally angry about the fact he touched a ‘mudblood’. Harry was horrified to find he was dancing with Pansy Parkinson. Ginny was just as disgusted as Goyle was, who she turned out to be dancing with for at least two songs. Parvati was sickened when she found out she was dancing with Crabbe. Neville nearly fainted when he found out he had danced with Millicent Bulstrode, his face went as white as Draco’s mask. Ron was the only fortunate one, he was relieved he was dancing with Lavender, for he had noticed who Harry danced with and that worried him.
“Well hopefully you had a great night tonight...” Hermione started.
“And we’ll see you all here at Christmas,” Draco cut her off.
Everyone milled out of the Great Hall, leaving some teachers, Draco, and Hermione inside the large, dark Great Hall. After everyone was gone, the two got off the stage and headed back to their common room. Once they were on the second floor, the floor that nearly no people hung around, Draco slid his hand into Hermione’s, who entwined her fingers with his. Together, they made their way back to the common room.

I'll post chapter 11 tomorrow! (promise )
I'll probably post chapter 12 in the same day cause chapter 12 is one of my all-time favourites (and it's a different POV).
So yeah, I'll post chapter 11 (and most likely 12), tomorrow. I suspect this F.F will be fully posted by the end of the week But I'm already on the 2nd chapter of the sequel anyways, so I'll post the 1st chapter of it a few days after I finish this one (there's gotta be some time in between ). I've already got some twisted ideas for it, so I can't wait til it's up (but I kinda don't want this one to end either, despite how I'm drained of year 7 ideas)

Smile Chapter 11: Her Secret (Chapter 12 comin up in 3 hrs)

Yeah, I'm in Leadership at my school this year (the class that plans like, nearly everything), and one of the girls said, 'Hey, we should have a Masquerade Ball for Halloween! Or one of the dances, the only way you get in is if you wear a mask.' So yeah, that's where I got the idea really But it's not gonna be a halloween thing at my school (to late now).
And with who Draco had danced with, I couldn't think of a person that would be like... utterly horrible for him, so I kinda left him out. Well, now that I think about it, I should've added Luna Lovegood as his dancing partner... but whatever, he had Luna then

Anyways, I'm posting the next chapter like, NOW, and the chapter after about 2 hrs later, cause the chapter after next (chapter 12) is my all-time favourite (like, serious all-time favoutire next to chapter 16 and 3), mainly cause of the portrayal of friendships, but yeah...
So anyways, here's chapter 11! Chapter 12'll be in 2-3 hrs

Chapter 11
Her Secret

“So who did you go with?”
Hermione looked up, snapped out of her thoughts. She completely forgot she was with Ginny, outside underneath a big oak tree.
“What?”
“The Masquerade Ball, who’d you go with?”
“That was weeks ago, Gin. Why’re still asking?”
“Because I’m curious. I won’t drop it until you tell me.”
Hermione bit her lip lightly. It was mid-way through November, nearly three weeks after the Halloween dance took place. Ginny asked her at least once a week, and Hermione kept telling her the same thing, ‘Why’re you still asking?”.
“Please?” Ginny asked, somewhat begging.
Hermione sighed.
“I’ll stop once you tell me. I mean, why’s it such a big deal I don’t know who you went with anyways?” Ginny pointed out.
Hermione shook her head slowly. She wasn’t sure if she could trust Ginny with her secret. It was hard enough to keep it from her before, but with her pestering questions, it was growing more difficult each day. She stood up.
“Fine, I’ll tell you,” Hermione said finally.
Ginny smiled.
“Who?”
“Can we go to your dorm though?”
Ginny raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I... I’m not going to tell you if we can’t go to your dorm.”
Ginny rolled her eyes and stood up quickly. Hermione followed her friend to Gryffindor Tower. After a distance of walking, Ginny finally led Hermione to the dorm. They sat down on the floor.
“So why did you ask to come up here?”
“I’m not saying who I went with outside.”
“What’s the big deal?”
“Do you want to know or not?”
“Oh course I do, but...”
“Then promise me you won’t say anything about what I’m about to tell you to anyone, including your brothers, Lavender and Parvati...”
“What about us?”
Hermione looked over her shoulder and saw Lavender and Parvati standing in the dorm by the door. Hermione sighed inwardly.
“Unless you swear to keep what I’m about to say a secret, can you... not be in here?” Hermione responded slowly, a grim look set on her face.
“Ooh, it depends on what,” Parvati said as she sat down, making a small circle with Hermione and Ginny. Lavender joined them.
“It’s about this oh-so-secret guy she went to the Halloween dance with,” Ginny explained quickly.
“Why does it need to be secret?” Lavender asked.
“I’ve been asking her that for a month!” Ginny exclaimed. “So why does this need to be so secret?”
“Before I respond to that, do you swear that no matter what, you won’t tell anyone about who I went with? No one, Harry and Ron especially, your friends, family...”
“I swear,” the three said in synchronization, confused expression still set on their faces.
“Ok, well...”
They all looked intently at Hermione.
“I went with Malfoy.”
Ginny gasped. Lavender and Parvati’s mouths dropped.
“You’re... you’re joking right?” Ginny asked.
Hermione shook her head slowly.
“If you can’t take that...”
The three looked intently at Hermione again.
“We’re kind of... together.”
All three girls’ mouths dropped farther.
“No way!” they said together.
“I’m serious.”
Ginny shook her head in disbelief. She couldn’t believe that Hermione stooped to Malfoy, let alone Malfoy having it for Hermione (she didn’t mean that in a way no one would like Hermione, she just couldn’t believe Malfoy, a pure-blood, had it for a muggle-born).
“Malfoy... Draco Malfoy? Slytherin pureblood? Hater of any form of a muggle?” Lavender clarified slowly.
Hermione nodded.
“Back in September I was really quiet for awhile, and after Harry and Ron pestered me about it, I stormed out of the Great hall. That was from my confusion of Malfoy... admitting how he felt through a kiss.”
The three gasped in disbelief.
“Me and Ron fighting awhile back? Sick of Ron’s comments about Draco being a Death Eater. Of course I was sick of it long before Draco and I were together... Me always looking out into the distance during meals? Me catching Draco looking at me. Why have I been so secretive about who I went with to the Halloween dance? I didn’t want you three to know because I didn’t want both mine and Draco’s reputations shodded off. I promised him not to tell anyone, but I’m only telling you three because I trust you not to tell anyone whatsoever.”
Ginny still couldn’t believe her ears.
“And if I find out any of you said something, anything about this... you’ll regret it. So don’t tell anyone. Please.” Hermione smiled when she finished. She looked at Lavender, Ginny and Parvati. They all looked like Hermione was the mixed look of that she’s crazy, brainwashed, or she was actually telling the truth and they couldn’t believe it.
“Promise not to say a word?” Hermione asked.
The three nodded slowly.
“But wait, with Malfoy’s comment at Hogsmeade...” Ginny started.
“The night I got detention with Flitwick...”
“I think it was unfair you got in trouble for that when it was the cow that started it,” Lavender said indignantly.
“When Harry and I left, he followed me, we had a quick spat about why I got mad at Ron, and then he asked me why I called Malfoy by Draco, and right as I hugged him goodbye, he kissed me. At that same time, Malfoy opened the common room door and saw it, and this was when were together. For a week at least we didn’t say a word to one another, other than my attempting to explain what happened.
“I don’t want anything to happen between me and Harry any farther than friend really, I just... I can’t see it, I don’t really want to see it.”
Ginny looked thoughtful.
“He’s been worried about you, Hermione. He’s worried about how much time you spend in your common room, since Malfoy’s there,” she said.
Hermione closed her eyes for a moment, and then opened them.
“He’s really wanted to talk to you about everything, but you keep pushing him away,” Ginny said quietly.
“I’m not pushing him away!” Hermione replied defiantly.
“Well if you aren’t, you really have an odd way of showing it, no offense. It’s just... you haven’t said anything to him in so long. He misses having you around, hearing you tell him to work on his homework instead of playing pranks on others with Ron... everything you can think of apparently.”
“How do you know this?” Hermione asked curiously.
“Well I overheard him talking about how he wants to talk to you. I could just... tell what he misses. And quite honestly, I miss hearing your attempts to get him to work.” Ginny grinned innocently. Hermione rolled her eyes.
“Besides, I heard Harry talking to Ron about it as well, it seems I’m always in the common room when they are,” Lavender replied, shrugging.
“If you really care for Harry, you should talk to him,” Parvati added. “You don’t have to tell him about Malfoy, and I think it’s best if you didn’t obviously, but just tell him what’s on your mind about everything after he kissed you.”
Hermione sighed. She felt slightly torn. She knew she shouldn’t have told Ginny, Lavender and Parvati about her relationship with Malfoy. Now that she did, she wanted to tell Harry and Ron, and that would only end disastrous, and she knew it.
“He’s practicing on the Quiddich field right now. He said something about getting back at six, and that’s only in ten minutes, so you can do it then...”
Hermione got up and left the room, taking Ginny’s advice. She walked down the stairs, out of the castle and by the field. She joined a group of people that watched the Gryffindor Quiddich team practice. It seemed like only a moment to Hermione when they all landed, ready to change back into normal robes. The group of spectators left as soon as the team touched the ground, leaving only Hermione on the outside of the field. She saw Harry look out to where she stood, and she waved. Harry only smiled back, leaving the field to go get changed.
“You never watch practice.”
Hermione turned around and saw Harry running up behind her.
“Yeah well, first time for everything, eh?”
“I guess you can put it that way.”
They walked up the path towards the castle. Suddenly, from out of no where, rain poured down hard and fast. They ran inside, completely soaked within the few seconds they were outside.
“Well... I wanted to talk to you about something.”
Harry looked at Hermione curiously.
“But in the Gryffindor common room...”
Silently, they started heading for Gryffindor Tower. Passing through the portrait hole, they got into the common room. Ginny, Parvati, and Lavender were hanging around together. They noticed Hermione and Harry, and with a small, mysterious smile, the three of them went up to their dormitory.
“Mental...” Harry muttered. “So what’d you want to say?”
Hermione blanked out for a moment. It took her a second to remember what she was doing, and then what she was going to say.
“Oh yeah, well first off, I’m really sorry for not really talking and hanging around with you and Ron for the past while, but...”
Harry sighed lightly. Before Hermione could continue, the rest of the Gryffindor team milled into the common room.
“Good practice, Harry,” they all said as they passed through. Soaking wet, the team went to their dormitories to change or dry their robes.
“Sorry, what were you saying?” Harry asked as soon as they were all out of sight.
“Well about that kiss of yours...” Hermione saw Harry’s face seem to be a mix of intent yet fallen. She didn’t think it was possible to have both expressions until now.
“Yeah?” he asked in a practically flat tone, trying not to give out any form of emotion.
“How long have you wanted to do that?” Hermione asked. She was curious.
He was silent for a moment. “3rd year...” Harry shrugged.
Hermione was slightly surprised at the amount of time. Why didn’t he do it before?
“Have you ever... thought about it?” Harry asked slowly.
“Well... a couple times but...”
“Did you ever think of how it would turn out?”
“Yeah but...”
Harry looked at Hermione somewhat expectantly. It broke her heart to see him this way.
“If it was anytime before now...”
Harry’s expression fell ever so slightly, but he kept it normal overall.
“I’m really sorry, Harry, but... it’s too late now.”
Harry looked away from her.
“It’s just, a few years back it might’ve worked, but not now.”
“I... I understand.” His voice quavered momentarily.
“I just want to be your friend Harry,” Hermione said, looking at the floor now. She felt really bad for him, but he had a right to know. “You’ll find someone soon, but I’m not that person.”
“Ok,” was all he replied. A split second later, he was heading up to the boys’ dormitories, out of Hermione’s sight.

You'll find out in good time what's in store for Hermione... Kinda your view when you read the next few chapters, but more explained in the sequel (in my opinion, depends on how you think of it).
So yeah, my next post'll be chapter 12 (which I still claim as my all-time fav ), in like, 2 hrs. I'm just gonna go over it cause I'm bored.
