| Best Kept Secret - Sa16+ Image from Sirius's Lothlorien Paradise Well, I was bored since I finished my now most favourite book series (next to Harry Potter of course!) and I got stuck on other F.Fs, so I started another one after some thought about it. The first few paragraphs might be weird to you, but it’s just my foreshadowing on what might happen.
Hints will be dropped about the ‘secret’ throughout the story.
And actually, I started two weeks ago and I finished the entire story xD So updates won’t take forever since I don’t have much homework this semester to throw me off. Come January/February though, if it takes that long to post it all... different story 0.o
And it does take a few chapters to get into it, but it'll get interesting, promise!
NO, this F.F is NOT based on the song by Skillet. I liked the name, but the song didn’t fit.
And I’ve had longer F.Fs I can say. This is 20 chapters (so far, might add if I feel I should).
And the summary is a bit on the long side, I know, but you should read it all (depends on what you define as long).
Now someone has a story to tell...
Deanne Lyon has transferred to Hogwarts, hoping to start fresh at a new school. She’s always been different, and every time someone found out why, she would be shunned. Hogwarts is her last hope of ever getting a decent education. This time, she has to be more careful.
Upon her arrival for her final year in Hogwarts, she is automatically the centre of attention (as normal). After being sorted into Gryffindor, she becomes fast friends with many people, even if she isn’t the most trusting girl anyone’s ever met. They think they know her...
One day, though, after becoming Draco Malfoy’s partner in Potions class, things start to change. She finds herself torn between friends, and she finds herself in a situation where she’s stuck between two guys that have strong feelings for her, but they don’t really know her. They fight and vie for her attention, hoping to be the lucky one.
How will this mysterious girl with a dark, life-changing secret decide what to do about everything? And what will happen when the most unsuspecting help comes along from a mortal enemy, while at the same time is being harassed, annoyed... totally bugged by someone from her past? Someone that isn’t willing to give up on her?
Will she choose to tell her secret? And for that matter, who will she choose? Harry, Draco... or maybe her ‘friend’ from the past? Will she choose anyone at all? P.S: It does romance, I promise Just not for the first little bit... It’s kind of skimmed through in some parts, and I’m sorry for that It would drag out forever if I didn’t. NOTE: This is 7th year and after the (first) Battle of Hogwarts, but Snape is still considered a professor (he’s the Potions master... again. Not DADA teacher). I figured he’d help with the story a bit --------------------------------------------- Chapter 1
The Hogwarts Express
Let me get this clear; I am not normal. You think you know who I am within moments of meeting me, but everything you think is wrong. I might be beautiful, ‘painfully beautiful’ as I’ve been told, I might be smart, so what if I’m graceful and nothing bad ever seems to happen to me? Does that really mean I am like everyone else?
It doesn’t. No matter what you’re thinking right now, you’re wrong. I can’t tell my secret to just anyone anymore, I’ve learned my lesson about that. I can’t trust anyone, and I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll end up being the way I am forever; that girl that can’t seem to get a grip on anything, never understanding, and when I die, I will die alone. No one understands me...
No one ever will.
Dropping down onto the seats, I pulled out my magazine and started reading. I listened to the bustling noise of other students passing by, clearly hearing every word of each conversation. They had good summers, by the sound of it. Lucky them, they weren’t being chased out of school and town... well, in the way I was. I’ve already been to at least 3 different schools within the last 6 years of my education. Each school was different, but they all treated me the same in the end; shunned.
But nonetheless, it always started out the same. ‘Merlin, what a beauty’, ‘who are her parents?’, ‘who’s lucky enough to have her?’. If I had my choice, I would rather be average, but because of him, I can’t be. Because of him, I have soft, faintly-tanned, carefully chiselled features that no other girl has, I have the shapes and curves all girls seem to long for. My eyes, though, seem to get everyone. I have seen people with golden eyes, yet my ‘piercing, violet eyes’ seem to get everyone in one way or another.
I flipped the page in my magazine, listening to conversations outside. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a group of people standing outside my compartment door. They were whispering to one another, but I heard them.
“Come on, there’re probably empty compartments further back.”
“This is far enough back, Ronald. Honestly, it’s not like Malfoy’s in there.”
There was an awkward silence, and then it continued with another boy speaking. “Mione’s right, Ron, it doesn’t matter. We’ve met new people before, like Luna for example...”
“And look how that one turned out!”
“Ron...” the girl, ‘Mione’, growled.
“Come on, the last time we went into a compartment with one person, it was Lupin.”
How come that name seemed so familiar to me?
“It’s only a few hours anyways. Don’t make such a fuss about it anyways; what’s your problem?” the girl snapped, still whispering.
“I just have a bad feeling about this...”
Ha!
“What? About returning to Hogwarts? I don’t blame you, it’s still unsafe anywhere in the world right now, but...”
“Shut up you two!” the other boy cut in, his voice raised slightly. “We can talk about this later if you must, but can’t we just sit down for now? Ginny will be here soon enough, and if we don’t get a compartment, well you know how that went last time...”
After another silence, the compartment door slid open slowly. I didn’t even look up at the raven-haired, emerald eyed boy that stuck his head inside.
“Are those seats taken?” he asked.
“Nope,” I responded casually, flipping the page in my magazine. I would’ve preferred a compartment to myself, honestly, but if these people have to, I can put up with it.
The boy pushed the door open, and two others behind him entered as well. I glanced up as they placed their things out of the way. Blazing, firey hair that hung rather limply as if it had not been cut for a long while caught my eyes. Even I knew who this boy was, and I didn’t even know his name. Who doesn’t know the Weasleys?
Before I could get a look at the girl, I looked back down as they turned around and sat down in the seats across from me. They seemed uncomfortable; wary to speak because of my presence. The Weasley, Ron I’m sure, turned to the raven-haired boy and whispered to him, unaware that I could hear him.
“Really, Harry, I don’t think...”
“Shut up, Ron,” Harry cut him off quietly. I could feel his intense, green eyes on me. I shifted slightly under his gaze, just as uncomfortable as he and his friends were.
“How was your summer, Harry?” the girl, ‘Mione’, asked, her voice still hushed.
“You can speak up, it won’t bother me,” I finally spoke. I looked up at them and into Harry’s eyes. He appeared taken aback as he looked into my violet eyes. His two friends were just as surprised as he was.
“So... are you new?” the girl, Mione, asked.
“Yeah,” I responded curtly.
“Where’d you transfer from?”
“Zapharnen Institute of Wizardry,” I responded simply.
“Where’s that?” Ron asked, his tone blunt. Mione elbowed him sharply.
“It’s a small school in Scotland,” I responded, turning my eyes onto him. He seemed to shrink under my gaze. “Not as big as... Durmstrang, for example. That place is probably two-thirds the size of where I came from.”
“Have you been to Durmstrang as well?” Harry asked, surprised.
I looked back at him and elusively responded, “I’ve been to many schools.”
“Got kicked out? What’d you do?”
“For goodness sake, Ronald...”
“It’s alright,” I cut the girl off. My eyes fell back on Ron. “No, I wasn’t kicked out, I left each one.”
When silence came in response, I went back to my magazine. As I flipped the page, the compartment door slid open. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a rather short girl with bright, red hair; another Weasley.
“Honestly, I turn around to just to say goodbye to mum and I turn back and you’re gone!” she snapped. I felt her eyes fall onto me, and she was silent. “Hello...?”
“Hi,” I responded as I flipped my page. Before another word could be spoken, the train started moving. This would be one long trip... chiseled features?
Are you thinking about how Draco was always described to have 'chiseled features' in the books?
Thanks for commenting guys xD Glad you all like the first post... which is kinda boring and the next one is as well in a way, but it'll get better.
And this is the first F.F I've finished before posting... I've already got the sequel planned
So like I said, posting will go fast.
And I'll update tomorrow.

Compared to other chapters I suppose it's boring.
But I guess not then.
Welcome (to this thread) Mel xD

Don’t be deceived by the title, it can mean many things... and I was bored and couldn’t think of anything so the current title comes into play later.
Enjoy Still not much yet but more interesting stuff is coming up soon xD Chapter 2
Slytherins
I managed to be one of the first people of the train. I watched people ahead of me go into carriages, yet I saw younger ones lining up and then getting into boats. I assumed the boats were for just the younger kids and found an empty carriage. I climbed in and waited for it to move, hoping I would be the only one taking the ride inside. As soon as I thought this, the door opened. I heard a chuckle...
“Are those seats taken?” I recognized Harry’s voice.
I resisted sighing, and responded, “No.”
He climbed in and four people came in behind him. I knew three of them, but the fourth was another guy. He seemed somewhat timid, more reserved into his tall, dark-haired self. I caught the mumblings and heard his name was Neville. The ‘Golden Trio’ sat in front of me again, and after a mumbled bickering about who would sit next to me, Neville ended up on my side. The carriage rattled off in silence.
“So... what is your name?” Hermione asked me.
I silently looked back at her for a moment.
“Deanne,” I finally responded.
“I’m Neville,” Neville told me, a hand outstretched to shake mine.
I looked at him, then down at his hand quickly, and up again. I just merely smiled faintly and said, “Hi.”
Neville was taken aback and withdrew his hand, frowning in thought. The rest of the ride to Hogwarts was silent; the only noise made was the movement of feet leaving the carriage. I followed the five to the castle, listening to their whispers. I chuckled inwardly; they definitely don’t know what I can hear or do.
“Did you see that earlier? Honestly, could you not be any colder?”
Oh, the irony in Ron saying that. I only didn’t shake Neville’s hand because if he was to feel my skin, he’d be even more shocked than he was when I didn’t. No one likes to touch me, only the rare exception to those that have gotten used to me. My skin is like ice; I don’t have the warm skin everyone else does. I figured it'd be best to save Neville the shock.
“She at least said something, so you can’t say it was entirely cold,” Harry pointed out.
“But she was cold enough to...”
“Guys, shut up about being cold!” Hermione snapped, shivering. “I’m starting to feel cold...”
I rolled my eyes and continued into the castle. A few steps in, I felt a tap on my clad shoulder. I stopped and looked to my side and saw a professor. She was a rather old woman with grey hair peaking out from under her pointed hat.
“Deanne.” It was not a question.
“Yes.”
“I’m Professor McGonagall, the headmistress. Would you follow me?”
I did as I was told and found myself in a dimly light classroom. An old hat sat on the table.
“Now before you’re sorted, I have a question about your... diet.”
“How long are the meals exactly?” I asked quickly.
“It’s usually an hour for each meal. I understand if you don’t...”
“I don’t know, I might,” I cut in, knowing what her question was. “So what’s this about sorting?”
“Oh yes, the Sorting Hat,” Professor McGonagall picked up the old, dusty hat.
“Sit down.”
I did as I was told. The hat was placed on my head, and it started to move.
“Ah yes, we have been waiting for you...”
I was shocked; why was some dumb hat talking to me?
“Out of all the unique people that have come through these walls, none have been like you... hmm, your self-control is amazing, I must say. If it weren’t for that, you would be well suited for Slytherin... where else to put you...?”
The hat sat silently on my head, thinking. Wait, do hats even think?
“Ah, yes, I know...” the hat muttered. Suddenly, it exclaimed, “Gryffindor!”
McGonagall removed the hat from my head, surprised.
“I didn’t know I was that courageous,” I muttered.
“There’s more to Gryffindors than just bravery and courage,” McGonagall responded, chuckled. “Congratulations.”
Silently, we left the room and made our way into the Great Hall. There was a huge group of young students standing at the far end of the room. Everyone had turned around and looked at McGonagall, but their eyes quickly latched onto me. I sighed and sat at the table I recognized was for Gryffindors.
“Got lucky, eh?”
I looked up and saw Harry with his friends across the table.
“Well that hat gave me an option, but I guess it didn’t work out,” I responded, in more of a sociable mood suddenly.
“Really? What’d it say?” Ron, who sat next to Harry, asked curiously.
“Something with an S...”
“Slytherin?” the two asked simultaneously.
I nodded slowly. “Is that bad...?”
“Depends on your perception of ‘bad’...” Harry started. He was cut off by a loud catcall from the other side of the hall. They glared at whichever group made the noise, and I turned around. A large group of guys were laughing as the noise continued between them. At the heart of it all was a guy with silver-blonde hair, his bangs practically millimeters above his pale grey eyes and framed a face paler than his hair.
“And that’s the worst it gets,” Harry finished.
“MR. MALFOY! DESIST OF THAT RACKET THIS INSTANT!” McGonagall yelled. Everyone was taken by total surprise, flinching in their seats and finally looking at something other than me.
“Malfoy...” the name sounded familiar to me.
“You know him?” the two in front of me asked, astonished. I turned back to them.
“Not personally, I just recognize the name...”
“Well, Malfoy is the worst it can get. That obnoxious, pompous ferret...”
“Ronald!” Hermione snapped, finally speaking from next to him. She elbowed him.
“Wha’? It’s true!”
“Just because it is, it doesn’t mean you have to say it every time he does something rude, obnoxious, annoying...”
“You’re right Hermione; Ron would run out of breath.”
Snickers made their way down the Gryffindor table. I looked over my shoulder and saw his piercing stare on me, unmoving and unwavering. He whispered to his friend next to him, his eyes still on me, perfectly unaware I could hear his words perfectly.
“She new?”
“I dunno,” a gangly, brown-haired Slytherin responded, shrugging. “Probably.” He looked at me as well, and I turned around.
“No idea who she is?” I heard Malfoy ask.
“No...” I could tell the guy wanted to ask why, but didn’t brave enough.
“Useless...”
“Why do you ask?”
I turned around to see this. Malfoy was glaring at the other guy.
“What...?” the guy asked dumbly.
“My mom knows her parents,” another guy next to him said. I looked at the guy next to him and tried to place him. Malfoy automatically turned to the guy, interested.
“Who are they, Avery?”
I started to remember now. I couldn’t remember his first name, but my parents used to be close with his. That was years ago, though.
“The Lyon family; pureblood, even her parents were in Slytherin.”
Oh yeah... I thought I recognized the name when the hat said it. It's been ages since my parents talked about Hogwarts, let alone their education.
Malfoy smirked, the expression reaching his eyes. “What’s her name?”
Avery appeared to be in thought.
“Something with a D... Dee...”
My eyes blazed angrily at the nickname.
“Deena... Deeya... Dean... Deanne! Deanne Lyon,” he finally said.
I could almost imagine the satisfaction seeping from Draco’s eyes. I sighed inwardly and tuned out his conversation, focusing on the one before me. It was barely even the first day and I knew that this would be a long year.

You might think this chapter is pointless, but you never know if it has relevance... I’m double posting as a result
Enjoy!
Chapter 3
Ron’s Dream
The sound of creaking echoing down the corridors brought me back to reality. My attention snapped up and I saw Ron; he looked half-dead!
“Good morning...?” I asked. Over the past few days he and the rest of the trio have become at least acquaintances. They’re better than Malfoy, who has been trying to force himself onto me. I honestly preferred to be alone, but acquainted friends are better than nothing.
“Mor’in...” Ron muttered in response, dragging his feet across the floorboards, which squeaked and creaked in complaint at him not bothering to pick his feet up. “Wha’ time’s’t?”
“It’s 5am. What’re you doing up?”
“Cou’ ask you de same,” Ron responded as he dropped onto the couch across from me.
“Couldn’t sleep,” I responded with a shrug.
“You dun soun’ tired...”
“I suppose that explains why I’m not sleeping,” I responded flatly. “What’re you doing up?”
“Couldn’t sleep eider...”
“You sure look like it,” I drawled sarcastically. Big, black bags stood out on Ron’s blanched skin, his eyelids open barely halfway. It was a shock he could see me!
“Yeah, yeah... I jus’ kept ‘avin nightmares...”
“Isn’t it a little soon to be seeing spiders?” I responded, smiling. I couldn’t tell if Ron had rolled his eyes or if it was just a twitch.
“No... kept seein’... death. ‘Orrible death...”
I frowned in thought. “Like, dead bodies or...”
“Someone lookin’ over ‘em, like dey did it. No marks, nuthin’, dey just dead.”
“Who was looking over them?” I asked curiously, putting my book down absentmindedly. The book clattered to the floor, pages flipping as it flew opened. Ron winced at the sudden, loud noise.
“Dunno, face too dark. One part d’oh... person wazn’t dead... bravery yet fear in ‘is eyes. Dark eyes... suddenly went red...” he shivered, nearly falling from the couch in the process.
“Girl or guy?”
“Beau’ful girl... so unfortunate.”
“Have you tried to get more sleep? Push the thoughts away and close your eyes?” I suggested, hoping Ron would at least get some shut-eye before having to wake up in 2 and a half hours.
“When I try ta close m’eyes, I see ‘em... red eyes, fear, pale, dark figure looming...”
“Was this figure a man or woman?” I asked curiously, pulling my legs up into the chair and curling up on the lone recliner. Ron just shrugged. Before I could speak another word, he fell onto his side, his head making a loud bang as it connected with the armrest, and was snoring before he could even groan.
I thought about what I was just told. Shrugging it off, I reached over the couch, grabbed my book, and started reading again.
A groan broke through the common room. Looking up from my book, I saw Ron sitting up, rubbing the side of his head with a grimace. The bags under his eyes had barely lightened over the past hour and a bit.
“Wha... why’re ya in the boys’ dorms? Merlin, who brough’ all dis furniture in ‘ere...?”
“Ron, you’re in the common room,” I responded flatly. He looked around, a blank look in his eyes, and he finally seemed to understand what I had said.
“Wha’ ‘appened?”
“You came down here an hour ago and told me you had nightmares and fell asleep on the couch before I could speak anymore. You hit your head on the armrest, but you were too asleep to notice.”
“Holy... how could I not notice? Ow...” Ron groaned, still rubbing the area he had hit before.
“Do you want me to...?”
“No, Pomfrey’d ‘ave a fit. ‘Already, Ronald Weasley? You broke your leg last time; what’s next? Cracking your skull?’” he mimicked. I could only assume ‘Pomfrey’ was a healer here.
“Why’d you wake up? More nightmares?”
“Naw... sharp pain,” he responded. He then seemed to fit two and two together. “What’re you doin’ up? It’s barely 6am.”
“Couldn’t sleep,” I repeated, my response sounding robotic.
“Ah...” without another word, Ron got up and stumbled to the staircase. As he disappeared around the bend, I heard a series of loud crashes and breaking noises, and then a weak voice calling, “I’m ok!”

and here's the other one.
More Malfoy... I had some fun with this one and some jokes retaining to this chapter.
Enjoy
P.S: Remember I said I was keeping Snape in this... You see why. Chapter 4
Potions Drama
I ran down the corridors and towards the Potions classroom door, determined to keep a regular running pace. As I turned a corner, someone came out of nowhere and collided into me. I flew backwards a few feet, my books and supplies flying every which way. Naturally, I swore under my breath.
“Nice...”
I looked up quickly and glared at the guy that collided into me. I scowled when I realized it was Malfoy; you’ve got to be kidding...
Within moments, his things were together, but to my own surprise, he was gathering my things as well. It took him a matter of seconds to perfectly pile my things and hold them out in front of me. I yanked the pile from his arms, glaring suspiciously.
“You’re welcome,” he drawled sarcastically.
He got up, and when I didn’t, he held down a hand. This gesture surprised me, but I got up by myself. I started to walk away, trying to go as fast as possible without running, but Malfoy managed to keep pace with me. I inhaled and his sweet scent hit me like a giant wrecking ball with a bulldozer, and I shivered. Never before had I noticed his scent... maybe he switched deodorants or something; I do have a sensitive nose after all.
“Cold?” he asked.
“No,” I responded flatly.
In a split-second of my response, the sound of a long, drawn-out bell rang through the dungeons and across the castle grounds. Automatically, I picked up into a run, Malfoy just a step ahead of me. He reached the classroom door first and opened it, letting me through first. Rolling my eyes, I passed through.
“Late again?” a dull, low voice rang through the room. I didn’t see anyone, but within seconds, a figure dressed in black came from behind a doorway.
“Really? I didn’t notice,” I snapped. The small class chuckled.
“SILENCE!”
Everyone became dead silent.
The first thing I saw when Professor Snape entered the room further was the light shining off of his greasy head.
“50 points from Gryffindor. If you’re late again, you’ll have detention all day.”
I grumbled under my breath and took a seat next to Hermione.
“Take a seat, Malfoy,” Snape snapped. We all turned around and saw Malfoy still standing in the middle of the room, appearing rather on edge.
“But Professor...”
“Take a seat, Malfoy,” Snape repeated, pronouncing each word with a snarl.
I then realized why Malfoy hadn’t sat down yet; the only open seat was the one directly behind Hermione and next to another Gryffindor. I joined in the snickering with Hermione.
“But...”
“SIT DOWN, FOR MERLIN’S SAKE!”
Malfoy practically jumped into his seat, but he sat as far away from the table as possible. When Snape turned around, Malfoy managed to get his cronies attention and mouth something that made them snicker.
“Before you all leave, there will be a seating plan since no one was silent this entire class.” Snape glared at Harry and Ron’s table as he spoke this; Ron’s ears went red. “And there will be no ‘trading’, moving, or any sort of switching, be it using the Polyjuice Potion.” Snape glared at Hermione when he spoke this. She had the nerve to glare back. “Or any other means of transformation. So, here it is.”
Everyone got moving to different tables that were conveniently located at far distance from the next inhabited one, to all of our disappointment. What made it worse was that it was done alphabetically.
“Hermione Granger, Ellen Hermes.”
“Good luck,” Hermione whispered to me as she got up and left. She sat down at a table on the far end.
“Deanne Lyon, Draco Malfoy.”
Everyone that was in Gryffindor and Slytherin gasped. Malfoy willingly went and sat down. I refused to budge; it was hard enough I had to sit in front of him, but now next to him...
“Ms. Lyon, get over here,” Snape snapped impatiently.
I scowled, crossed the room, and I grabbed my chair and moved it to the far end of the table and landed on it with a loud thud. That earned me a glare, and ‘Another 20 points from Gryffindor’. Damn the slime-ball, you’d think that since he is friends with my parents that he’d at least have some consideration for me. Can't he see past my Gryffindor badge? Or is he too shallow?
Ha! Did I honestly just realize that?
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Malfoy edging his chair closer to my end of the table. I turned to look at him, glaring. “Get back.”
He just smirked and kept getting closer.
“Have you heard the story of Raphael Nequam?” I asked, making my tone sickly sweet.
“Some guy in St. Mungo’s,” Malfoy responded dismissively, still edging closer.
“He was in a full body cast for half a year.”
“But what about...?” Malfoy cut himself off once he realized what I implied. He sat still, refusing to move back.
“Malfoy...”
“Do your worst,” he whispered, smirking.
I scowled and pushed him. He flew off his chair and landed on the floor with a sickening thump. He then slid across the floor a few inches, stopping millimetres in front of our cauldron.
“Geez, Malfoy, you’d think someone that’s played Quidditch wouldn’t have balance issues,” I said loudly. Malfoy groaned, his arms wrapped around his stomach as he rolled onto his side.
“This is like our 2nd year Quidditch match all over again,” Harry commented from across the room. The Gryffindors burst into laughter.
“For goodness sake, get up, Malfoy!” Snape snapped. “10 points from Gryffindor.”
“It’s our fault that Malfoy can’t balance?” I responded meekly.
“20 points,” Snape said, slamming his fist onto my table; I didn’t even flinch.
The bell rang across the grounds. Before Snape could remind us of our assignment, everyone except for Malfoy was out of the classroom.

Thanks for tellin' meh, Adge! I read and posted xD
Things finally get interesting... I did my best to keep this chapter as dark as possible without it being too weird.
Who knows, you might grow to like Cody...
And along with getting to know Cody, you might realize Deanne's choices aren't as easy to make
Enjoy
P.S: I am aware that I used at least one characteristic from Twilight (the eyes). You’ll see what I mean Chapter 5
Cody
That evening, I walked around the grounds with Harry shortly, but continued alone. People still wandered around, mostly couples that enjoyed to be alone under the moon by the Black Lake. I gagged at the thought, but that might be because I’m not ‘taken’. Whatever.
Lighting my wand, I wandered along the edge of the forest and on the shoreline, just inches away from the lapping water. I heard movement behind me and spun around. There was nothing. Sighing, I turned around and continued down the beach, occasionally stopping to look around for the noise. I finally got too weirded out and turned around to go back to the castle; it was getting late anyways.
As I walked back down the shoreline, I saw a human figure hiding in the shadows. Suddenly, a hand reached out and grabbed me so fast I didn’t have time to blink. This person’s grip was tight; I couldn’t escape no matter how hard I struggled.
“Quit it!”
I stopped dead. That voice, I knew that voice...
“Cody?”
The figure emerged from the shadows. I recognized Cody’s pale features, shaped perfectly into a face any other human would think of as extremely beautiful. He stood a good half-head taller than me with a muscular build hidden under a button-down shirt and jeans. His eyes were black with golden flecks in them, framed by his dirty blonde hair. I knew why he was here; he wasn’t here just for me, and that alone worried me.
His teeth shone when he smiled. I rolled my eyes and tried to pull out of his grip.
“Not so fast,” he said, his smile now as soft as his tone while his other hand lay at the base of my throat, his thumb caressing just below my jaw line. I flinched at his touch, and grimaced at his tone – he knew full well it worked on me as much as it did on any other person... unfortunately.
“What do you want?” I snarled, growing irritated at ever move he made on me. “You’ve already made me resort to here; there are no more schools I can go to.”
He chuckled. “I’m not here to reveal your ‘secret’.” He said the word with such contempt, it startled me.
“Then why’re you here?” I snapped.
He gave me a hard look.
“Hungry?” I asked, smirking. “There are harmless muggles you could get easier. Why come here?”
“Muggles aren’t as fun. Besides, you’re here...”
“Why are you such a sadist?” I growled, cutting him off.
“You think I torment you and enjoy it?” he asked curiously, his darkening eyes glittering.
“You’ve pushed me this far across the continent,” I responded, smiling innocently.
“We could go farther if you like...”
“Don’t you dare,” I snarled, anger rising within me at a rapid pace. “I could’ve killed you many times, yet I spared you.”
“Why did you spare me, then?” Cody asked me, a new smile growing.
I glared at him, and when his other hand started to toy with my hair, I slapped it away. I kept my steady angry glare on him, hoping it would make him at least a tiny bit uncomfortable. On the contrary, he was rather relaxed. He was never relaxed, especially this far into his hunger...
“You can’t imagine harming me, can you?” he pressed, stepping closer. His face was now inches from mine.
I didn’t respond.
“You can never stop loving a vampire,” he whispered.
“Yes, you can,” I snapped back, whispering as well. “Watch me.”
Taking him off-guard, I made contact with his lips. After a few moments, just as he was getting into it, I pulled away and ran. The sensation of his cold mouth on mine lingered as I ran faster, adrenaline pushing me on. I hated him, I hated everything about him. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, let alone who I am. I hated him...
Yet how come I can’t shake his sensations from me?
