Chapter 13



Everybody was happy to see Charlie was all right when he came back home. He arrived back at the Burrow the day before Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny were to go back to Hogwarts. Having put their packing to the last minute, Harry and Ron were only able to visit with him for a little while, before grudgingly going up the stairs to their empty trunks. Harry was surprised to see that only a few of his items had remained in his trunk. Every thing was scattered around Ron’s already messy room. Harry was in the middle of restacking his schoolbooks so they would fit in his trunk, when Ginny walked in.

“Hey Gin.” Harry said automatically.

Ron looked up from the side of his bed. “Oi! What are you doing in here?” he said holding a bag of owl treats in his hand.

“I’m not here for you.” She said sarcastically.

“Well unless you here to pack my trunk for me, get out.” He replied flicking his wrist toward the door.

“I was wondering if I could talk to you, Harry.” Ginny said ignoring her brother.

“Sure. What about?” Harry said, getting up from the floor.

“Well…um…” she looked over at Ron like she was uncomfortable to say it in front of him. Ron didn’t seem to notice but began stuffing inkbottles into his trunk.

“I just wanted to talk about-“

“Here you are boys.” Mrs.Weasley said, walking into the room with freshly washed clothes.

“Thanks mum.” Ron said taking his clothes.

“Yeah thank you Mrs.Weasley.” Harry said, piling his own into his trunk.

“Dinner will be done in a few minutes. Come down when your done.” She said and left them.

Ron went back to packing his trunk and Harry turned back to Ginny. “What were you saying?” he asked her.

She looked sheepishly at Ron before answering. “Well I just wanted to ask you-“

“There you two are! We wanted to show it to you guys first.” George said, barging into the room; Fred along side him.

Ginny sighed next to him and said, “I’ll talk to you later Harry.” And she left them all behind. Harry watched as she left. What was it that she wanted to talk to him about? And why was she being so subtly?

“What is it?” Ron asked breaking Harry out of his thoughts.

“It works for us, but we want to make sure it works on other people besides ourselves. Care to try it out?” Fred asked.

“What is it first?” Ron said.

Fred smiled impishly and lifted his wrist. He began to fumble with a flesh colored bracelet, then suddenly disappeared.

“And that’s not all. Watch.” George said and walked to the spot where Fred stood a few seconds before. “He’s not solid, so I can walk through him.” He backed away and Fred reappeared.

“That’s awesome! Let me try.” Ron said walking forward.

Fred slipped the bracelet off and handed it to Ron. He put it on but nothing happened. Ron looked up at the twins questionably.

“You need to flip it for it to work.” George said walking over and doing it for him. With a loud snap, they both disappeared. It hadn’t made a noise when Fred did it.

“Wow! We didn’t think we made it powerful enough for it to make two people disappear.” Fred said excitedly. The two of them reappeared with smiles on their faces.

“How did you guys make this?” Harry asked taking the flesh colored bracelet in turn.

“With our awesome skills.” George said with a wink. Ron rolled his eyes behind him.

Harry slipped it on his right wrist. It went on easily. He then flipped it like the twins had. The next thing he knew, he felt a weird sensation happening. It was like somebody had sucked all his body weight off him and he was now lighter than a feather. Like his invisibility cloak, he could see right through his body, but the cloak didn’t give him weightlessness. George beamed and walked right where Harry was standing. It was like Harry wasn’t even there. Like he was a ghost. It was the strangest feeling he had ever felt.

“Another cool thing about it is people can stand there jinxing and cursing you but it just goes right through you.” George said and stepped away so Harry could reappear.
Harry moved what he figured was his left arm and flipped the bracelet again. His body became solid and visible in an instant.

“What about the unforgivable curses?” Ron asked in awe.

“Well we wouldn’t know. We’ve never tried them before.” Fred retorted.

“Yeah and were not planning to in the future.” George said darkly.

“How many of these do you have made?” Harry asked. They were an extraordinary item and Harry wouldn’t mind buying one from them. He was amazed at how smart Fred and George had to be to be able to make one of these. Even though they didn’t finish their last year at Hogwarts, they really knew their stuff.

“Just two. George has the other. They’ve been really hard to develop. We’ve been trying to make these every since our fourth year.” Fred said.

“But we want you to keep that one, Harry. It was you after all who gave us the idea.” Said George.

“Me?” Harry said in disbelieve.

“Yeah. We heard about you running into Karkoff when you were wearing your invisibility cloak. And we thought to ourselves, What if there was something to make you invisible and not solid? That was where our work began.”

“How do you know about Karkoff? I never told anybody about that.” Harry said suspiciously.

“We over heard you telling Hermione in the common room. You really should be more careful where you have private conversations, mate.” George said with a smile.

Harry chuckled. “Yeah Sirius told me that once too.”

“Yeah well, keep the Invisebrace. We’re going to go down and see if dinner is ready.” Fred said putting his hand on the doorknob.

“Hey! What about me?” Ron piped up.

“What about you?” Fred said looking back.

“Don’t I get one?” he said.

“We need to keep one to work off of. It’s probably going to be awhile before we make another one.” Said George.

“Don’t worry. You’ll be the next person we give one to. Happy?” Fred said, when Ron looked put down.

“Yeah all right.” Ron said a little more cheerfully.

“Thanks for the bracelet.” Harry said. The twins nodded at him and departed.

There an extra long chapter to make up for the tiny ones. Hope you all enjoyed it

Chapter 14

“Harry. Harry! Harry wake up!” a voice said, bringing Harry out of his dreams. The next thing he knew a pillow was thrown at his head.

“Ow! Ok I’m up.” Harry said jumping up out of bed. He felt around blindly for his glasses.

“Mum is going crazy. She said she’d send the twins up if we don’t get down stairs soon. And she said she’s given them permission to do whatever they want.” Ron said throwing on a clean shirt. Harry went over to his trunk quickly and started to change as Ron’s door opened.

“You two up?” Fred asked.

“Or do we need to wake you up?” George said with a wide grin on his face.

“We’re up. We were about to go down right now.” Ron said trying to balance on one foot so he could put his shoe on the other.

“Well bring your trunks down with you. I don’t think we are even going to get breakfast today We’re so behind schedule! Dad is not even here yet.” Fred said mimicking Mrs. Weasley.

The twins helped bring down their trunks. Harry smiled to himself, at the familiar atmosphere of the Burrow. People running back and forward, loud noises in the kitchen, and the smell of toast. When Harry walked into the kitchen he saw Mrs. Weasley franticly making food. Charlie was sitting at the table, absentmindedly rubbing his arm where there was a big black burn. Bill was sitting across from him, talking quietly. Fluer was in the middle of walking to the table, holding a pile of toast on a plate. Hermione and Ginny weren’t in the kitchen, but Harry heard movement upstairs.

“Hello boys. Eat quickly. You are all going to be leaving in ten minutes. Girls!” Mrs. Weasley said in fast mode.

Hermione and Ginny hastily joined them. Ginny already had a piece of toast in her mouth.

“You girls all ready? Your trunks are done and everything?”

“Yes Mrs. Weasley. When are we leaving?” Hermione asked.

“As soon as Arthur gets here with the car.” She replied.

“So are you all coming too?” Ron asked looking around the table.

“I am. I’m part of Harry’s guard.” Bill said.

“Yeah I should have figured that. Always needs a guard. I swear you’re like the queen of England.” Ron joked. Harry chuckled at him.

“I would come but I rather stay here and get some rest.” Charlie said.

“It’s alright Charlie. We understand. You get better while we’re away, ok?” Ginny said hugging her brother.

“Yeah I will. Thanks Gin.” Charlie said with a smile, just as Lupin walked though the door. He had a deep cut on his chin that looked fairly new and he had bags around eyes. He was dressed casually in pants and a pale green sweater. His light brown hair was shaggy and starting to grow long. His eyes were a pale brown that had a tint of red in them, from the lack of sleep. He looked exhausted, but a warm smile spread on his face as he shut the door.

“Remus, How are you?” said Mrs. Weasley.

“I’m doing well Molly, thank you.” Lupin said. “Well we should be leaving as soon as Arthur gets here.”

“Who else is coming?” Harry asked, while Mrs. Weasley rushed out of the kitchen to get something.

“I know Mad eye is coming, along with Kingsely. Bill, Arthur, Fred and George too, I believe. I don’t know if Tonks will be able to make it. She had a lot of paper work when I left yesterday.” Lupin said, naming off the people.

Just then a horn honked outside. Lupin got up, strode over to the window and peered outside.

“They’re here.” He said. Everybody got up and walked outside. Mr. Weasley and Mad eye were by a forest green car. Fred, George and Bill came out after them, with all of their trunks.

“Wotcher Harry.” Harry heard and saw Tonks standing a few feet away from him. She had spiky black hair today with bright pink tips. Her eyes were also black. They both matched what she was wearing; a cotton black t-shirt that had a single pink heart on the shoulder. She was also wearing jeans and pink converse that was the exact same color as the heart and the tips of her hair.

“Hey Tonks. Finished your paper work?” Harry smiled.

“It’ll be there when I get back.” She said with a chuckle.

Mrs. Weasley came out next; Charlie with her, who went to say hello to his father and Mad eye. She walked to Ginny and Hermione to begin her good byes.

“You’re not coming mum?” Ron asked as she turned to him.

“No. I’m staying to take care of Charlie. He needs to drink a potion every half hour.” Mrs. Weasley said kissing her son on the cheek. She then turned to Harry and pulled him into a tight embrace. “You take care of yourself, ok?”

“I always do Mrs. Weasley.” Harry said with a warm smile. She returned his smile as he climbed into the car. Lupin got in next to him, sitting by the window. Ron, Hermione, Bill and George got on his other side. Ginny sat in between Tonks and Fred in the front seat, with Kingsely sitting by the window. Mr. Weasley climbed in front of the wheel. There were easily ten people in the car, but it was reasonably comfortable. Harry was able to stretch his legs out in front of him and not kick anybody.

“So how come you came before them?” Harry asked Lupin.

“It was a full moon last night. So I went home to transform.” Tonks had turned around at this point. “Then I came straight her in the morning.”

“You have a new cut on your face.” Tonks said looking at him sadly.

“Don’t worry. I’m all right.” He said with a reassuring smile.

When they got to King’s cross, Fred and George got four carts. Lupin and Mad eye stood on both of Harry’s sides as he pushed his trunk and Hedwig’s cage toward platform 9¾. Bill and Tonks walked with Ginny, Fred and George walked on each of Ron’s sides, and Kingsely walked with Hermione. Each group went through the barrier one at a time after checking the coast was clear, Harry going first. The familiar scarlet train came into view when he got to the other side. Steam was coming from the engine and everywhere there were people scattering to get on the train. Parents stood by a window talking up to their kids. After they had all loaded their trunks into an empty compartment, they went back off the train to say goodbye.

Harry, Hermione. You two will be coming over for Christmas right? Fluer has always wanted a winter wedding. So we are going to get married on Christmas Eve.” Bill said.

“That sounds beautiful. Of course we will be there.” Hermione said, waving to them from the train after they had all got back on. The train was starting to move slowly forward. Harry waved goodbye too, just as they turned the corner and the six of them flew out of view.

Chapter 15

“We’ll see you guys later. We have to go to the prefect compartment first.” Hermione said.

“Yeah ok.” Harry said and walking in the other direction. Ginny followed him in search for an empty compartment. Harry looked over his shoulder and saw that she was biting her lip. She looked like she was thinking hard about something.

“You ok?” he asked her.

She nodded at him still biting her lip. “Yeah.”

“You sure?”

She gave him a small smile and nodded again. Harry loved it when Ginny smiled. It gave him goose bumps and shivers down his spine.

“Actually I wanted to ask you something.” She said.

“Sure. What is it?” Harry said.

“I was just wondering…Do you still-“

“Harry!” the compartment in front of them slid open and Neville’s face popped out.

“Hi Neville.” Harry said, joining him in his compartment.

Luna Lovegood was also sitting inside, reading her father’s magazine, The Quibbler. She was wearing a lavender long-sleeved t-shirt and a matching long skirt that flowed down to her ankles. She was wearing brown earthy sandals and was also wearing her radish earrings. She looked up when they walked in and studied them with her water blue eyes. Her wavy white blond hair was hanging loosely over her shoulder.

“Hello. You know, you two were going out.” She said in her dreamy voice.

“Hi Luna. Um…yeah we were.” Harry said awkwardly. He sat down next to Neville and Ginny took the seat across from him, next to Luna.

“So how was your summer Harry?” Neville asked, changing the subject.

“It was all right. I spent most of the time at the Burrow. We had some fun.” Harry replied, thankful for the subject change.

As the train trudged on, it began steadily to grow dark outside. Slowly, the setting sun began to disappear, leaving a rainbow of colors in its wake. Violent red clashed with a glowing purple around the sun as it continued to set. The clouds reflected the extravagant colors on its snowy white surface. A flock of birds were in perfect V-formation, flying smoothly through the sky. But the beauty of it was never seen by Harry and his fellow friends as the train started to slowly stop.

Ron and Hermione had arrived almost a half and hour earlier and they all now got up from their seats and made their descent off the train. Everywhere there were people crowding to get into a carriage. As the five of them made their way to an empty carriage, they heard a familiar voice.

“First years over ‘ere!” a gigantic form bellowed holding a lantern. Hagrid found them in the crowed and waved enthusiastically. Harry smiled and waved back, before the carriages began taking them up the slopes to the castle.

When the carriages lurched to a stop they all climbed out and began up the steps to the Great oak doors. Luna said goodbye as she went to go sit at the Ravenclaw table. The rest of them sat down at the Gryffindor table. Ginny was immediately called over by her friends and she left them to got sit with them. She had been quiet through the whole train ride. Harry began to wonder of she was all right. She seemed down about something. She probably felt uncomfortable after what Luna said.

Just then, the Entrance Hall door opened wide and the first years began walking forward. But this time they weren’t following Professor McGonagall. Professor Sprout led them up to the front, where an old hat laid on top of a stool. Harry looked toward the staff table and saw her sitting in the Headmistress’ chair. She had a straight face as the sorting hat sang its song. She didn’t bat an eye while Professor Sprout called out names to put on the hat.

“Wow. McGonagall looks like she’s in a bad mood.” Ron whispered.

“Yeah she does.” Harry replied.

“Well nothing new there. Right?” Ron chuckled.

“Ron! She’s probably really stressed right now. She has new Head Mistress duties and is still going to do Transfiguration lessons. She is going to be working non stop this year.” Hermione said looking sadly up at the staff table.

“How do you know she is going to do Transfiguration still?” Ron asked, surprised that she had this bit of information.

“Because there is only one new person at the staff table. And he is going to be our Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher obviously.” Hermione said as if it was just a question in class.

Harry and Ron looked back up at the table, and sure enough there was only one new face occupying the chairs. The man had shiny black hair that wasn’t to long and wasn’t to short. He had a mysterious look to him, but not in a bad way. He had a young face, and was quite good looking. His electric blue eyes scanned the Great Hall with ease. When his eyes landed on Harry, he bowed his head slightly in hello and returned his gaze upon Professor McGonagall who had risen from her chair.

“Hello and welcome.” She said and waved her hand forward. Food of all sorts appeared out of nowhere and surprised looks were seen on the first year’s faces. For all returning students, they were use to it, so they had already began eating. Ron grabbed a drumstick, while Harry reached for the pork chops. Hermione began with her usual salad, before moving to a roll. Harry smiled as ate with his friends, finally making it back to Hogwarts, for his last year.

Oooo! They're back at Hogwarts now. I still feel sorry for Ginny. *hugs poor Ginny* People need to stop interupting them! PAMS PAMS PAMS! Or I'll steal you're cute little kitty. Kidding, I won't. It's tempting though.

Poor Ginny...its sad to think about everything everyine might go through for the last year.Good post.

I absolutely love it though! When Fred and george came into Harry's room so Ginny was interupted for the second time I screamed "FFS!"

Chapter 16

After dessert was over, Professor McGonagal stood up from her chair and began to speak again.

“I just want to give out a few announcements before bed. First, I like to introduce Professor Kahne, as our new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher.” She paused as everybody clapped in welcome. He bowed his head down respectively. “Second no student is allowed off grounds after dark. Also if any of you ever suspect any trace of dark magic or anybody associated with it, alert a staff member immediately. Professor Dumbledore wouldn’t have wanted the school closed. That is why I am here. I want every one of you to be on guard at all times. But only when we are united as one, will Professor Dumbledore be able to lie peacefully. Let him not have died in vain, and remember him as we begin this new school year. He will surely be in all of our hearts as we progress through this following year and learn new things. For that was his goal, to teach anybody who was willing to learn. Now that said, you may leave to your dormitories.”

As one, everybody got up and made their way out the Great Hall. Harry hadn’t moved from his seat. Professor McGonagal’s speech had made his heart swell. He never knew her to speak like that way. Next to him, Ron and Hermione hadn’t gotten up either.

“Wow. That was deep.” Ron said.

“Come on. Lets get to the common room.” Hermione said getting up from her seat. Harry and Ron followed her and the three of them started after the crowd. Instead of getting behind the traffic of students climbing onto the moving stairs, they took one of their many short cuts. In front of the Fat lady, Hermione recited the password (“Buttersworth”) and they entered the common room. They said good night to Hermione and walked up the stairs to the boy’s dormitory. It was empty when they entered. While they were changing, Dean and Semaus walked in.

“Hey Ron, Harry.” Semaus said. Dean just nodded at them as they both said hello.

“So is it true that you and Ginny broke up?” Semaus asked. Dean, who's back was to them and was digging through his trunk, tensed up, listening hard.

“It’s really none of your business what’s happening with him and my sister.” Ron said before Harry could retort.

“Hey, I was just asking.” Semaus said putting his hands up in mock surrender. He then bent over his own trunk and pulled out his own pajamas.

Harry sank down on his bed. So people already knew of their of their breakup. News got around quick at this school. He had broken up with her right before they got onto the train to go back home, so people shouldn’t have known so soon. How quick will it be for somebody to ask her out? Will she go out with them? How is he going to handle her being with anybody but him?

“You alright?” Ron asked quietly as he climbed into his bed next to Harry’s.

Harry looked up and saw that Ron was watching him. “Yeah, I’m fine.” He replied.

Ron shrugged and closed his hangings. Harry followed suit and closed his own. The sound of Ron’s snoring filled the room almost instantly, but it took Harry a little longer to fall asleep.
