| A Little Greek Story - Sa16+ Shipper Queen Hippie Quad Credit goes to the Awesome Kelv! Prologue
Like a ghost, I walked out of my home and shut the door silently behind me. So what if I was merely seven years old? I wanted time to myself without my brother trying my patience. Just a couple more weeks and he would be going back to Hogwarts. I was counting the days.
The vibrant sun could be seen setting behind the houses and was painting the sky with magentas and purples. A sight to see. It was the middle of August, so I didn’t have to worry about getting cold. The little neighborhood we lived in was secluded and serene, so it didn’t surprise me when all I heard were quick chirps from a flying bird and waking crickets.
Taking a quick look around me, I stepped into my backyard and directed my footsteps toward the small forest. It wasn’t a forest really, but so many trees were found out here, I liked to imagine it was a forest. I also liked to hide out here when my brother was being especially annoying. These trees were my sanctuary.
As soon as the trees were shielding me enough that I couldn’t be seen from the kitchen window, but close enough that I would be able to hear if somebody were to call for me, I sat down on a patch of dirt and leaned up against a nearby tree. Setting my notebook on my knees, I took out my quill and began to write. I wanted to capture the description of the sky into a quick poem before somebody came looking for me. Engrossed into my work, I didn’t hear anybody approach until they spoke.
“That is beautiful!” A high-pitched voice whispered next to me.
I nearly jumped out of my skin and quickly got to my feet. Drinking in the woman’s appearance, I began deciding whether to ask the woman who she was, or run home. She must have seen the apprehension expression I wore on my face because she put up a dainty hand and let an apologetic smile fall onto her lips.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to frighten you. Your poem was just too beautiful not to admire.” She said sweetly.
Still, I was hesitant to trust the woman in front of me. All my mother and father have drilled into my brain since I could even remember was to never trust anybody you didn’t know. How did this woman even get here? I’ve never seen her around the neighborhood before. Unless she just moved here. But even then, I shouldn’t be talking to her.
“Really. You don’t have to be scared of little old me. What am I going to do to you? Take your quill?” she giggled.
I had to admit, she had a point. She couldn’t be taller than 5”1’. She was even shorter than my mother and my mother wasn’t that tall. Her wavy, raven black hair barely went down below her shoulders and her skin was a dull brown color. Her slender body was hidden underneath a dark cloak, but the hood wasn’t on, so I was able to see her face clearly. Hazel eyes blinked back at me, underneath think eyelashes. The more I looked her over, the less scary she seemed to get.
“Who are you?” I asked her softly.
“Ah but what is your name? I refuse to bore you with my dull life.” She giggled again. It was almost childish how she giggled.
Seeing nothing wrong with giving her my name, I answered her, “Elliot Dion Edwards.”
“Edwards?” she asked. I thought I saw her frown at this, but then the girlish smile was back on her face.
“It’s my mom’s maiden name.” I told her. Yes I was only seven, but I wasn’t unintelligent. For some reason my mother made all of us take her last name when we were born. Even she still goes by Edwards and she married my father before I was born. I don’t even know what my father’s last name is. It bothered me sometimes not knowing. My brothers couldn’t care less though. They didn’t ask questions like I did.
“I’m sorry. Do you not live with your daddy? I should have-” I interrupted her for two reasons. One, I never called my father daddy, and two I didn’t want to take her pity for something that wasn’t true.
“My father still lives with us. We just don’t go by his last name.” I explained.
“Why?” she asked, tilting her head.
I shrugged my shoulders. “How did you get here?”
“I heard music coming from over here the other day, and I thought a musician had come to live in the woods.” She said, the smile back on her face.
I felt my cheeks warm at her kind words. “That was me.” When I wasn’t writing in my notebook, I liked to play my violin out here. Aleksander always made fun of me when I played it in the house, so I resorted to playing it out here.
“That couldn’t have been you! You play like a true musician!” she praised. Again, I began to blush and kicked absentmindedly at the rock in front of me.
“Thank you.” I replied.
“What are you doing way out here? Shouldn’t you be with your mommy and daddy?” she asked in the high-pitched voice.
Did I look like I was five? I didn’t call them mommy and daddy. I’ve never called them that. It was such a juvenile way to talk. But the woman had been nice to me, so I wasn’t going to correct her. “They are-”
“Elliot!” I turned my head automatically to the sound of my name and could see my mother peaking out from the back door. Her chocolate brown eyes scanned the backyard and I saw her forehead wrinkle up in a worried expression when she didn’t see me. Turning back around, I saw that I was the only one still standing amongst the trees. The woman long gone.
So, yeah. Two little Birdies one Elephant shaped and the other looking like a platypus wanted me to do a sequel to "A Greek Story". It's not really a sequel...well yes it is. XD So for people who don't know, Elliot, is Sam's son (one of then anyways) and the story is going to be in his point of view. Criticism is always welcome. It might be a little confusing in the beginning but it will get explained soon enough. Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 Chapter 18 Chapter 19 Chapter 20 Chapter 21 Chapter 22 Chapter 23 Chapter 24 Chapter 25

| Shipper Queen Hippie Quad Chapter 1
Jerking awake, I found that my blankets had slipped off me and tangled around my legs. I moved around a lot in my sleep when I dreamt, so it wasn’t a surprise to find the blankets off me. I always had that dream every so often. The dream really did happen, so it was like reliving a memory. It was back when we lived in the house by the trees. I loved that house. We had moved out of the house soon after the day in my dream.
It was an abrupt move, which left me puzzled. I had really liked that house and was upset when my mother told me we were moving. We were gone not even a week later. My mother or father still won’t tell me why we had to move.
Sighing, I untangled myself from my blankets and climbed out of my bunk. I wasn’t a morning person, but I wanted to get going now, or I would never leave the dormitory today.
After I took a quick shower and changed into a pair of black slacks and a slate gray long sleeved, I walked into the common room. My ice blue eyes scanned the room before landing on a girl with golden-brown hair. Her bottle green eyes locked on mine and she gave me a warm smile. A smile she has told me once, she only reserves for me.
Loanna Harrison was my most trusted friend at this school. We hated using the phrase “best friends”, but in all likeness, we were. Then again, she was my only friend at this place. I too, was her only friend, but we didn’t care about popularity. We didn’t mind not having more than one friend. We were just grateful for each other.
I met Loanna during my first year. We have been inseparable ever since. Some people liked to make fun of us sometimes because of it. Over time, we have gotten used to it though. She, like me, is in her third year at Hogwarts.
“Ready to go down?” she asked me, getting up gracefully from the couch in front of the fire.
“No.” I sighed. Breakfast time was always the worse part of the day.
“Come on Eli. You always make it out worse than it really is.” She said, laying a comforting hand on my arm.
“Do I?” I raised an eyebrow at her. The Great Hall was a war zone. If you stay hidden, you can get back out safely. But if the enemy spots you, good luck.
Loanna pushed me lightly, rolling her eyes. “Come on you big baby.” She chortled.
Following her out of the common room, we made our way up the stairs silently. I began to grow nervous as we inched closer to the Great Hall. We stopped in front of the door, and I let out a shaky breath. Loanna must have felt my discomfort, and took my hand in a friendly gesture to give me strength. This was one of the reasons why I was blissful for her friendship.
She pushed the door open to reveal the four long tables. We made our way toward the table on the far left, and sat down on the edge, closest to the door. I looked down the table and saw that not many people were here yet. We got lucky today. I pulled a bowl of porridge toward me and began to eat.
Loanna was picking at a croissant when she spoke again. “See. Not so bad.”
“Not yet.” I mumbled.
“You are such a pessimist.” She sighed.
My eyes flew to her face. Loanna rarely sighed, unless something was bothering her. I studied her expression, and caught the dejection sweep across her eyes. Something was wrong.
“You alright?” I asked her, my eyes glued to her face. She wouldn’t look at me and that confirmed any doubt that something was bothering her.
“I’m fine.” She began playing with her bread pastry in her hand, no longer eating it.
“Spill Lolo.” I knew she would cave any second at her nickname. One day during my first year I had been talking too fast and accidentally called her Lolo. She laughed, I blushed and that has been my nickname for her every since.
Finally her emerald orbs looked up at me, a small smile falling onto her lips, before she sighed again. “My father wrote me last night.”
So that was what was bringing her down. Her mother and father had divorced when she was five years old. It was an ugly, ugly divorce. Her father was very manipulative and fought with her mother a lot, even in front of her. From what I know, her father used violence to get what he wanted. Loanna has reassured me that he had never laid a finger on her though. It still gave me chills thinking about how rough she had it at home when she was that young.
“What did he want?” I asked, showing her she could vent if she wanted to.
“He wanted to know if I had five galleons he could have.” She said, shrugging it off. I knew she was trying to brush it off, but I could tell the letter had affected her.
I was about to open my mouth to say something else, when the door to the Great Hall burst opened and about twenty to thirty kids walked inside. The first seven of them all wearing Gryffindor quidditch robes.
My body began to tense up and I turned back to Loanna. She was eyeing the Gryffindor’s too, her lips twitched down into a frown. Her eyes found their way back to mine and she gave me an “It’s going to be ok” look. I nodded slowly at her and took a drink of pumpkin juice.
“Did you know there was a quidditch game today?” I asked her in a low voice. If anybody overheard I didn’t know there was a quidditch game today I would be given weird looks for the rest of the day. Everybody always knew when there was a quidditch game. It was their life. Teenagers were strange.
“Nope.” Loanna replied. This made me smile. Even though I didn’t like the word, she is truly my Best Friend.
Just when I thought I was home free, I felt a hand grip my shoulder. I groaned internally and turned to see who had found us. Chocolate brown eyes looked down at me and I reframed from groaning out loud.
“Gryffindor’s first game today. You coming?” Aleksander asked. To put it nicely, my oldest brother was not one of my favorite persons. By all means, he was probably better than some of the bullies that I have to endure, but he didn’t make time at school any easier either.
“Actually we were going to work on our Astronomy paper today.” I responded. Loanna was not much of a sports person either, so she wouldn’t mind missing the game. Plus I knew sitting in the uncomfortable wooden bleachers while the whole school yelled like lunatics was not a way somebody should spend their day when they were blue.
“You have to go! Otto is playing. It’s his first game.” Aleksander responded, plopping down on the bench next to me. I could already see the wheels spinning in his head and I tried to remain patient.
“Well-”
“You are really not going to go to Otto’s first game? You can’t leave your common room or the library long enough to come support your little brother? That’s messed up Eli Belly!” He cut me off. I scowled at him. I hated that nickname.
“He wouldn’t even notice if I were gone.” I mumbled.
“But I would.” Aleksander glared at me.
“We will be there Aleks. Give it a rest.” Loanna said, rolling her eyes.
Aleksander glanced at her and smirked. If he said something mean to her, I swear I will snap.
“Good to hear. I will ask what the score was, so you better pay attention.” Aleksander teased, standing up from our table.
“Sure, sure.” Loanna replied, as he began walking back to the Gryffindor table. The table he should be sitting at.
He was almost gone, when he suddenly turned back and stopped in front of us. “I almost forgot. I have an extra Gryffindor scarf you can wear, since I doubt you will dress in red and gold.” My brother said, throwing at me a scarlet and gold striped scarf.
I looked down at it incredulously, before looking back at him. “I’m not going to wear this.”
“You have to support Otto somehow! Besides it’s cold outside.” Aleksander said.
“Elliot.” Loanna whispered, elbowing me in the side. I looked over at her and she motioned for me to look down the table. My eyes glanced down the table to see what she was pointing at, when they landed on one of our housemates, in a green and silver uniforms. The game was Gryffindor Vs. Slytherin. My brother’s house vs. mine. This was not going to be a good game. And if another Slytherin found me in a Gryffindor scarf, I wouldn’t be left alone for the rest of the year.
“No. I am not going to wear that.” I said firmly.
Aleksander’s eyes darkened and I readied myself for his antagonism. “It’s just a scarf. I’m not asking you to wear it all the time. Don’t be such a party pooper. Unless you are supporting Slytherin today.”
“I’m not.” I said quietly.
“Then wear the scarf.”
I let out a frustrated breath and wrapped the scarf around my neck. Already, I could feel the stares on the side of my head. This was going to be a long day.
“See you at the game Eli Belly!” Aleksander said and finally walked away.
Yes. This was going to be a long day indeed.

“We don’t have to go if you don’t want to. You already feel poignant.” I said, trying to get out of the game.
“I am not poignant and really, it’s fine. Besides Aleks would eat you alive if you didn’t go.” Loanna said as we began walking toward the quidditch field.
The day was gloomy and gray, the sun completely hidden behind bleak colored clouds, and making the air around chilly. It was leaving a forbidden atmosphere on the grounds, that I didn’t enjoy much. Goose bumps were sprouting all over my body and I wasn’t sure if it was for the nippy December cold or something else.
“I don’t care what Aleksander thinks.” I replied, wrapping my cloak tighter around my thin frame.
“You will later. Come on, it won’t be that bad.” She said, trying to make the situation better than it really is.
“It’s quidditch. It’s going to be hell.” I flinched when she swatted me on the back of the head. She hated when I cursed. A sheepish smile fell onto my lips and she chuckled.
But of course, our happy moment was pillaged when a harsh laugh was heard from behind us. It felt like a bucket of ice cold water was dropped down my spine as I slowly turned around to face the one who had laughed. Marcus Salvador. A fifth year Slytherin that loved to target me when he was bored. This boy has made my time here at Hogwarts a living nightmare. I saw Loanna tense up as she stepped closer to me.
“What are you wearing Edwards?” He mocked me. Marcus wasn’t alone today. Today three of his goonies were standing next to him, malevolence grins on their faces.
“Is that a Gryffindor scarf?” One of them asked.
“Looks like it is Marcus.” Another one replied.
“And on Slytherin turf.” The last one said.
“This is not going to fly at all. Even if you are a sorry excuse for a Slytherin.” Marcus said shaking his head, a smirk on his lips.
“I’m wearing it for my brother.” I mumbled.
“Did you ask him to talk Marcus?” Gooney One said.
“I don’t believe he did.” Gooney Two crossed his arms importantly. The other two snickered.
“Lets go Elliot.” Loanna said quietly next to me, pulling me by my arm.
“Look! Harrison just can’t keep her hands off of him. Maybe the scarf has magic powers.” Gooney Three said sneering at Loanna.
“Is it ok for one ugly person to like another ugly person?” Gooney One asked innocently.
“Only if they look like Harrison.” Marcus roared with laughter.
My hands began to shake indignantly. I didn’t care if they spoke callously toward me, but nobody spoke to Loanna like that. My skin was beginning to heat up and I knew my cheeks had to be bright red. I was debating with myself whether or not to hex them here and now.
“Ignore them Eli. Come on.” Loanna said, her voice shaking slightly. Her tone brought me out of my frenzy, and I turned my back on the four to walk away.
“Don’t let me catch you with that scarf in the stands Edwards!” Marcus called after me. Loanna only pulled on my arm tighter to walk faster.
My hands were still shaking and I felt like my head was going to burst. I knew something like this was going to happen. I knew it but I still wore the stupid scarf. Aleksander didn’t care though. As long as I wore it. Sometimes I really despised my brother.
We stopped near the entrance to the field and Loanna gave me a somber look. The look seemed to ignite the fire in my chest, so I looked away from her. Attempting to cool down, I paced back and forward in front of her. This was all Aleksander’s fault. All his fault and he probably wouldn’t be concerned that I just got terrorized over it. He was so infuriating!
I was still pacing when I heard my name being called. Without thinking, I stopped walking and turned my head sharply to see my other brother. Jacoby was almost the exact opposite of Aleksander. While Aleksander was loud, obnoxious and reckless, Jacoby was calm, thoughtful, and considerate of other people’s feelings. Being the second born, Jacoby always stuck up for me when Aleksander was being especially awful toward me.
“Why are you wearing a Gryffindor scarf? Did Aleks make you wear that?” Jacoby asked skeptically.
I was still too heated to answer. Loanna must of interpreted this and answered for me. “Yeah he did.”
“You don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to El. I’ll talk to Aleks later.” Jacoby smiled benevolently at me.
Instead of cooling me off like he had intended, I felt the anger in my chest expand. Jacoby shouldn’t have to talk to our brother. Aleksander should already have known I would be spotted in a sea of green. He shouldn’t have asked me to wear the ominous scarf in the first place. The scarf that I was still wearing!
In one swift motion, I ripped the scarf from off my neck and threw it on the ground. Then without looking at either of them, I stomped off toward the trees that made up the Forbidden Forest. I heard Loanna call my name behind me, but I didn’t turn nor slow up.

I meant to read this last night! Ah well. STEPHHEH!ILUFFYOU. You're amazing, simply amazing. I couldn't adore your writing more, and the characters! Loving getting to know Sam's boys
*Eyes Elliot* He can't just WEAR the scarff and support his little brother for ONE day, because house mates he doesn't even LIKE will get their underpants in a bunch? You've got to be kidding me. Dani and I were both shocked to find out he's a Slytherin!

Quad #3: He couldn't wear the scarf because he didn't want to be tormented. And yes, that was a fun twist making him a Slytherin. Glad you liked it. <3 Next chapter ahoy! Chapter 3
I waited until I was hidden behind the darkness of the trees to let my tears fall. I could only imagine what people would say if they saw me crying. Probably some testosterone saying that boys shouldn’t cry. Why did this world have to be so cruel? It wasn’t that I enjoyed crying; I just couldn’t help it. When my anger was at a boiling point, instead of throwing punches or breaking things like other boys, I secluded myself and let the tears fall. For a long time now this habit has been labeled as a girl thing, but it helped me cool off. It was better than hurting my fist or breaking something valuable to me.
Letting myself sink to the mossy ground, I wrapped my arms around my legs and set my forehead on my knees. I took a few shaky breaths, before controlling the sobs that were threatening to escape my lips. That was one thing I refused to do and that was make any noises while I cry. It gave somebody a chance to find me crying alone.
My chest was still constricted in pain, when I heard a twig snap behind me. I jumped and quickly leapt to my feet. It took a second for my eyes to adjust to a shadow in the trees. I wasn’t alone. My hands started shaking again, this time not out of anger but out of fear.
“Rough day?” The high-pitched voice came from the shadow. The voice sounded familiar, but I said nothing. Instead, I watched as the shadow walked cautiously toward me, letting the hood of her cloak fall from off her head. I recognized the face immediately. It was the same woman I had seen when I was only seven years old. The same woman I had dreamt about last night. What was she doing here? Who was she?
“Do you want to talk about it?” she asked, a soft smile gracing her lips.
Realizing, I had a few dry tears still on my face, I wiped my hand across my eyes and ran my arm under my runny nose. “Who are you?” I asked.
“I am somebody who watches over you. Sort of like a guardian angel.” She giggled childishly.
A guardian angel? If she was my guardian angel, why was my life such a nightmare? Wouldn’t she have helped me all those times I was being bullied by my peers? What? Was she asleep or something?
She must have seen the questions running across my face because she stepped closer to me and set a hand on my shoulder. “I am sorry I haven’t been there to help you when times have been tough, but I can’t be with you all the time. If I were to be seen, I would probably be locked up for being a loony.” She frowned, looking away from me.
Guilt began to run through my veins at her words. She was like me in a way. She had to hide from the world just like me to keep other people away. It wasn’t fair for her. I wished I could help her somehow. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry for me Elliot. I am here for you remember?” she smiled angelically at me.
“How do you know my name?” I asked dumbfounded.
“What kind of guardian angel would I be if I didn’t know your name silly?” she giggled again, running her hand through my dark brown hair.
I smiled sheepishly at her, a little embarrassed of my question. What do I call her though? “What is your name?” I asked.
“I go by many names, but you can call me Melody.” She smiled.
Melody. I was fond of the name. It reminded me of music. One of the things in this world that truly made me happy. I couldn’t help but trust her. Melody chose me to watch over and I felt grateful.
“So what has you down dear Elliot?” She asked, sitting down on a boulder daintily.
Hesitantly, I sat down in front of her and brought my knees to my chest. “Some kids were making me feel bad about a stupid scarf.” I mumbled.
“You know what always makes me feel better?” She waited until she had my attention before continuing. “Music.”
Music! How did she know? Music was one of my passions and it always cheered me up. Currently I only played the violin and the piccolo (which was part of the woodwinds family). I wanted to learn every instrument I could. When I was making music something inside me let go and I went into this zone that nobody can pull me out of. It was hard to get into the zone while at school though, with so many people around and so many people to make me miserable. How I want to get into the zone right now. Melody knew how to catch my attention, and my eyes were glued to her face.
I watched as she reached into her cloak and pulled something wooden from her pocket. I recognized the hollow piece of mahogany wood right away, and my eyes widened in anticipation. A smile fell onto her lips as she watched me practically bouncing on the ground. She then handed the small flute to me.
“I am no where as good as playing as you can be.” Melody said crossing her legs on the boulder.
My heart began pounding as I gently ran my fingers over the smooth wood. I watched in fascination as my fingers lightly covered the eight holes, which were carved into the flute. It was making the tips of my fingers tingle. When I brought the mouthpiece to my lips, I let out a testing breath through the mahogany wood and smiled with glee when the noise was heavenly. Not knowing much on how to play the flute, I didn’t have much to go on. But this didn’t bother me in the least as I started playing what sounded right. Already I could feel myself going into the zone and it was like the world was lifted off my shoulders. I let the harmonic sounds float around me as my eyes fluttered closed.
I don’t know how long I sat with my eyes closed letting the music move me, until my stomach growled. Frowning, I opened my eyes again and saw that it was slightly darker than when I first closed them. Melody was still sitting on the boulder watching me with a serene smile on her face.
“Sorry.” I mumbled, slightly embarrassed that I had forgotten she was there.
“Don’t be sorry. That was beautiful.” She said, slipping off the rock. With her dainty fingers, she brushed herself off and I stood up also.
When I began to hand her back her flute, she waved her hands at me and shook her head. “No, no, no. You keep it. It’s my present for you.” She said, her honey eyes twinkling back at me.
“Thank you.” I said, overwhelmed by her fine gesture.
“Your very welcome. Whenever you want to talk, or just want an audience, play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” She winked. I nodded at her and showed her I knew how to play it.
Melody smiled at me before she started walking away. I began to turn back toward the castle, when she suddenly called me back.
“Oh Elliot. Can I ask for a favor?” she asked, walking back toward me.
“Yes.” I said. How could I refuse her after all the good she has done for me today?
“Can you not tell anybody about me or our little meeting? I know it is a lot to ask, but I don’t think people will like it much that I am here. Then it will make it harder for me to see you.” She bit her lower lip uneasily.
“I won’t tell anybody.” I promised.

Can't wait to read more! Thank you! And no, it shouldn't be that big of an issue that you didn't read the story before this. I made this story it's own. It's not really a sequel. But the two intertwine if that makes sense.
I'm glad you like it!
Posting more...now.

| Shipper Queen Hippie Quad Chapter 4
Making my way out of the forest I found the sun almost all the way down. I had stayed in the forest longer than I thought. As I walked back into the castle, I wondered where I would find Loanna. I couldn’t tell her what I had been doing, but I knew she had to be wondering where I was. She would be the only one to come looking if I were to go missing.
Turning toward the dungeons, I almost tripped over somebody sitting on the top step. Catching myself before I fell, I found a pair of emerald orbs staring up at me. Without saying anything, I sat down next to her.
“Are you alright?” Loanna asked, her voice low.
“Yes.” I replied.
“I’m sorry about Marcus and the scarf.” She practically whispered.
“Not your fault.”
We were quiet for a moment; just the sound of dripping water was heard. I didn’t really know what to say and I had a feeling she didn’t either. The awkward silence was putting me on edge. Not once have I ever felt awkward around Loanna. I didn’t like it. So I tried to break the silence.
“Why are you sitting out here?” I asked. The common room is only a few steps away. Why would she sit on these uncomfortable steps when she could be on the couch or a relaxing armchair?
“Slytherin lost. They aren’t happy.” She said, biting her lip.
“Oh.” Great. We couldn’t even go to our own common room now. This was ridiculous. “Have you eaten yet?”
“Some are in the Great Hall too.” Loanna said hesitantly.
I groaned and closed my eyes, frustrated. Already I could feel my body begin to heat up. It wasn’t fair that Loanna had to hide out here because people were fuming in the common room. It wasn’t fair that she was going to have to go to bed hungry tonight because they were being arrogant in the Great Hall. It wasn’t fair that I had left her to endure the quidditch game all by herself.
“I’m sorry Lolo.” I sighed, my eyes still closed.
“Not your fault.” I could hear the smile falling onto her lips. My eyes reopened and sure enough, the smile was lightening up her face.
“This isn’t fair. Why do they pick on us? Do they have nothing better to do than to make our lives a living nightmare?” I asked agitatedly.
“We only have to deal with this for a couple more weeks. Then we can go home.” She said, being optimistic.
“But you hate being home.” I said, being the pessimist that I am.
“Well be prepared to be seeing me a lot over the break then.” She chortled.
Ever since I was little, we have moved from house to house. I have lived in about nine different homes, that I can remember, since I was born. The house that I currently live in is probably the longest we have ever stayed in one place. One thing I loved about the latest house is, it’s just down the street from Loanna’s house. I can walk to her house whenever I want and she can do the same. Every since we met in out first year and found out we live so close to each other, we have visited each other every moment we got. Even if it was really late at night. We didn’t do the late at night visits often, we didn’t want to get caught after all, but when we did they were always fun.
I smiled at her, showing that I would enjoy that and looked toward the Great Hall, sighing in the process. “Are you hungry?”
“Are you?” She asked evading my question. I was starving, but I didn’t want to make her day even worse than it already was.
“I asked you first.”
“I asked you second.” She said letting a playful smile fall onto her lips.
“Ladies first.” I said, playing her game.
“As the lady, I am giving you the chance to answer first.”
“And as the gentleman, I am refusing your offer to answer first.”
“That isn’t very gentlemanly of you to refuse a lady.” Her smile was so big now it was making me smile. Her grin was very infectious.
“On the contrary, it would be rude of me to answer before a lady.”
“But the lady has given you the approval to answer first.” She said, still being evasive.
“Just answer the question!” I chuckled.
“Why don’t you answer the question?”
“Because I asked it.”
“What was the question again?” I couldn’t help myself any longer. I began to laugh out loud, not caring who might over hear. She also began to chuckle and soon we were both holding our stomachs from laughing so hard.
The day may not have started out too great, but it did end pretty well. As long as I had Loanna laughing by my side, my day would always end well.

Now more. Chapter 5
The next day, we both agreed to get up early so we can eat breakfast in peace. Nobody got up early on a Sunday, so we were safe. We stuffed our faces with food, having not gone to the Great Hall to eat last night. When we were finished, Loanna began stuffing food into her book bag. A couple of apples for me, and a few pears for her. The fruit would last us until dinnertime. Something Loanna and I both had in common was our fancy for fruit.
After she was done accommodating her bag with the fruits, we left the Great Hall hurriedly and made our escape to the library. This place was our sanctuary. Not many people came here, except a few people who wanted to study on the weekends. So neither of us was surprised when it was empty when we walked inside.
Madam Nolan smiled at us from her front desk and we both waved to her. She was a plump, middle-aged woman with only a few gray hairs on her head. Sandy brown hair was put up into her usual bun today and a pair of silver framed glasses covered her milky brown eyes. Madam Nolan was probably one of the only grown-ups I would go to talk to at this place.
“The usual spot?” Loanna asked, her emerald green eyes already sparkling at the aspect of being in the library. Her passion for books was almost as big as mine.
“Meet you there.” I replied as we went our separate ways.
This was our little routine. We went our own ways to look for a good book to read, then retreated to the back of the library to read quietly. Sometimes we would read to each other and enjoy it together. While she went off to go find a Harlequin romance novel, no doubt, I maneuvered my way over to the poetry section. I knew a lot of people loathed poetry because it was difficult to understand. I was one of the many few people who understood it completely. It touched me like no other piece of work and my heart swelled whenever I found a particularly good one.
Today, I was venturing out to ancient written poetry. I smiled gleefully, when I found this book that contained breathtaking poems from an assortment of authors. The poems were written almost a century ago. Some of the authors included Walt Witman, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost and Langston Hughes. This looked promising, so I made my way over to the corner of the library that was most secluded.
Loanna was already there, her nose almost on the page of her newly found book. I chuckled at her appearance and sat down next to her. “What did you find?”
“ Little Woman by Louisa May Alcott. What about you?” she asked, peaking up from her book.
“ Ancient poems, By Ancient Authors. Written by Alec Smotherson.”
“Figures you would get a book on poems.” She teased me lightly.
“Well what is your book about? Another romance?” I replied with a chuckle.
“It’s about these four sisters.”
“Are they short?”
“I don’t think so. Why?” she asked, confusion clouding her eyes.
“It’s called Little Woman. Are they part goblin?”
“They aren’t really little! It’s just the name of the book.” She laughed.
“I think my book will be better.” I said, with a witty smile.
“Your book will be so boring! All poetry? I’d rather read a story.” Was her comeback.
“But poetry is so much better. If the first poem you don’t like, then you can always change what you are reading. With a story, you have to read the story all the way through, regardless if it is terrible or not.” I argued.
“Poetry is difficult though. You don’t even know what you are reading half the time.”
I scoffed at her and began flipping through the book. Scanning through the various poems, I found a particular one that really described the both of us. Smiling, I set my finger underneath the first line and recited it out loud.
“ I’m Nobody
I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd advertise -- you know!
How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
To tell one's name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!”
My ice blue eyes glanced back up from the book and landed on Loanna’s laughing form. Her head was thrown back and her golden-brown hair fell silkily over her shoulder. Bottle green orbs sparkled as she tired to control her amusement. I couldn’t help but smile at her. I believe I won that round.
Credit to the poem goes to Emily Dickinson
And Little Women goes to Louisa May Alcott.

Thanks Gracie. I'm glad you like. Chapter 6
“They are so mean to girls in this book.” Loanna chuckled a few hours later.
We had both been engrossed with our own book for the last couple of hours. All of our fruit had been devoured as the sun began to set outside. It had been a joyful day, not many people had come into the library today, so it was peaceful. Only time there was a slight disturbance in the noise level, was when Loanna or I would share something from our book. I had read her a few poems and she quoted from her book. I craved for moments like this. They were so tranquil and made me truly happy. So when Loanna asked for my attention away from a particular good poem, of course I turned to look at her curiously.
She smiled gently at me, before reciting from her book. “ Boys are trying enough to human patience, goodness knows, but girls are infinitely more so.”
I laughed out loud at this. “It is true though. Girls are very trying to the human patience.” I teased her lightly.
“We are not! I actually thought they were going to finally speak ill of boys, then I read the rest of the sentence.”
I couldn’t hold in my laughter and let the humorous quote wash over me. Loanna rolled her eyes next to me, but a trace of a smile was on her lips. When I heard somebody clear their throat above us, I immediately stopped laughing and looked up. Relief overcame me, as I saw it was only Madam Nolan.
“It’s dinner time. Why don’t you kids get some food in those bellies?” She smiled joyfully at us.
My heart sank and I quickly looked at Loanna. She had a small smile on her face, and gave me a fleeting glance, before saying, “That’s a good idea. Sorry for disturbing the quiet Madam.”
Madam Nolan chuckled lightly and began walking away, muttering something about “good kids.” Sighing, I stood up and offered Loanna my hand. She took it, giving me an apologetic look.
If it were up to me, I would stay in the library forever, but I knew if we stayed in the library during dinnertime, Madam Nolan would start to ask questions. Questions were something neither, Loanna or I wanted to answer. So instead, we acted like nothing was wrong with eating dinner in the Great Hall, or how nobody was bothering us when no professors were in sight. It was a habit to act like nothing was happening out of the ordinary. By all means, Loanna and I were not masochists; we just don’t see the bullying stopping if we were to tell. If anything, they will target us even more for “tattling” on them.
“Hungry?” Loanna whispered toward me, as we exited the library.
“Only if you are.” I replied. She nodded at me, and put her hand out for my book. I handed it to her and she stuffed it into her bag along with her own book.
“Maybe just some mashed potatoes?” she asked, her eyes reflecting the sadness of requesting to eat dinner. It upset me that she grew cheerless ever time she wanted to eat dinner. She shouldn’t have to feel guilty about being hungry.
“Mashed potatoes sound good.” I agreed with her. She was hungry, and she hadn’t ate last night, so it would be very selfish on my part if I were to deny her small request of food.
“Are you sure?” she bit her lip nervously.
“Yes.” I replied without hesitation.
We walked toward the Great Hall in silence, anticipating whatever what was to come. The sound of people talking, laughing and flirting reached my ears and I felt a chill go up my spine. I tired to hide this fact from Loanna, but she has always been able to read me easily.
“We’ll eat quick then go.” She encouraged me, as we walked through the wide doors. I nodded at her and tried to be positive. Maybe today people would leave us alone.
We took our usual seat on the edge of the Slytherin table and I pulled the bowl of mashed potatoes toward us. Passing it to her first, I waited until she put two scoops onto her plate, before placing three onto my own. Vigilantly, I took a quick glance around the Great Hall, making sure not to make eye contact with anybody. Everybody was too involved with their own conversation to notice us. Excellent.
“Eat some watermelon too.” I told her.
She looked at me skeptically, before pulling a slice of watermelon toward her. “What about you?”
“I’m fine. You haven’t eaten much at all today.” I said, taking a bite of my mashed potatoes.
“You haven’t either.” She pointed out. She always had a comeback.
“Eat.” I told her, a smile escaping off my lips.
I took a roll from one of the bowls as Loanna finished up her watermelon. She looked grateful for being able to eat and I was glad. Finally she gets somewhat a meal. Yeah, we were still too scared to eat an actual full course meal, but it was something.
When she was done, she wiped her hands and face on a napkin, before looking to me. Time to go. I stood up from the bench and made my way out of the Great Hall. We were almost home free when Aleksander walked through the door, just as we were about to walk out.
So close.

“There you are. What, were you hiding in the library all day again?” Aleksander asked, stepping in front of me. I glared at him and stuffed my hands into my pocket.
“You did go to the game right Ellie Belly? What was the score? I told you I would asked.” An annoying grin fell onto his lips.
Of course I had no idea what the score was. I only knew Gryffindor won at all because of Loanna. Not knowing what to say, I looked down at my shoes. Aleksander is going to be a pain when he finds out I didn’t go.
“It was 150 to 75.” Loanna said, her bottle green eyes focused on my face. I gave her a grateful smile and chanced a look at my oldest brother. He had a scowl on his face. Great. Even with the right answer he was going to be unreasonable.
“Who made the first goal?” he asked, and put a hand up when Loanna began to answer. “Elliot’s turn.”
I shut my eyes and wished I were anywhere but here. I could already feel the steam coming from out of his ears. Why did he have to be so difficult?
Just when I thought I was out of options, another person joined the three of us. Reopening my eyes, I saw that Otto, the youngest out of the four of us, had joined us. He had a schoolboy grin on his face and his cheeks were slightly red, like he had just been running a few seconds ago.
“I made the first goal!” he piped up.
“Otto man! Elliot was supposed to answer the question.” Aleksander groaned.
“Sorry. I didn’t know.” Otto said, the grin still on his face.
He was a first year Gryffindor that still had that childish nature about him. Everybody in the family loved him; even I had a soft spot for my little brother. A wide smile was always on the boy’s lips and his laughter was infectious. For being so little, Otto had a giant bottle of energy. One of his favorite activities was running. Just running. Mom liked to joke that he was running before he was walking. He was a joy to have around.
Aleksander felt the same way about Otto. He was the only person that he wouldn’t pick on. From time to time he messed around with Jacoby, and on a daily basis got on my nerves, but with Otto, nothing. Whenever somebody tried to pick on Otto, Aleksander was there to defend him. Not once has he ever defended me. If anything, he made situations worse. It made me jealous at times, but I didn’t take it out on Otto. It’s not his fault Aleksander is a jerk.
“It’s fine Otto man. Great job yesterday! When that bludger came toward you, I almost jumped out on to the field.” Aleksander chuckled. Otto chuckled right along with him. Time to make our escape.
I motioned for Loanna to walk forward and she nodded. Taking a step away from my brothers didn’t go unnoticed however.
“Oi! Where are you going?” Aleksander said.
“Homework.” I replied, trying to leave again.
“You have all day to do it tomorrow! Besides you probably had it finished last night. We’re talking about the game yesterday.” He replied.
I sighed and turned back to them. Loanna set a reassuring hand on the small of my back, soothing me slightly.
“Did you see when Otto fell, Elliot?” Aleksander said. He fell?
“Oh yeah. Freaked me out.” I replied trying to give him the answer he was looking for. Next to me, Loanna cringed and shut her eyes.
“I didn’t fall.” Otto frowned. He knew what was coming as much as I did.
“No you didn’t fall. That means Elliot lied about going to your game.” Aleksander glared at me. Here it comes.
“Hey!” the four of us turned to see Jacoby walk through the tall door. Saved by a saint. “Mum wrote us a letter.”
“Did she hear how we won yesterday?” Otto asked excitedly, walking quickly toward the second born.
Aleksander momentarily forgot about me and stepped toward Jacoby too. Wanting to see what Mom wrote I followed after my brothers, Loanna following behind me.
“What did she say Jake?” Otto asked, bobbing up and down.
Aleksander laughed at his liveliness and set his hands on his shoulders to get him to keep still. “Lets hear it Jakey.” “Boys,
Winter break is coming up, so I will be seeing you all soon! It feels so weird having you all at Hogwarts now. Your father and I get bored by ourselves. I am counting the days until it is loud at home again. Your Uncle Benny and Aunt Mona are supposed to come visit for Christmas, so please try not to destroy the house when you get home.
Otto, Congrats at the quidditch game! I’m so proud of you. Jake, 112% on your potions essay? You are awesome. Aleks, I hope you are looking out for your brothers. Be good and stay out of trouble please! Thank you for the poem Elliot. It was beautiful. I love you four and I’ll see you soon.
Mom”
My cheeks grew pink when Jacoby got to the part with my mother’s praise. She always seemed to like my poems. I only gave her my really good ones, and it thrilled me that she thought my latest one was beautiful.
“Uncle Benny is coming! I can’t wait.” Otto jumped up and down happily.
“Yeah Uncle Benny is always great fun. I wonder if Aunt Mona is going to make us cookies.” Aleksander thought out loud.
As the rest of them began talking about the holiday at home, Loanna and I were able to slip out of the Great Hall. Jacoby saw us leaving and winked at me, before distracting Aleksander with the letter. What would I do without him?

Baby Quad: XD My poor Elliot. And I know! I tried to make them as different as possible. I think I got it right! Chapter 8
It has been two weeks since Jacoby read the letter from Mom in the Great Hall. It was nice arriving back home. My mother’s chocolate brown eyes sparkled when I came rolling out of the fireplace. I could never come out smoothly when traveling by floo powder. I shut my eyes every time I got that sick feeling in my stomach. She gave me a hug that I didn’t know I needed, when I stood up. I was even more thrilled when she said she had fresh apples in the kitchen.
The day was kind of chilly, but I really wanted to play my flute that Melody had given me. Deep down, I wanted to see if she would come like she said she would. Aleksander and Otto were playing Exploding Snap in his room, Jacoby was in the living room reading a book, Mom was writing a letter to somebody in her room, and Dad was out doing errands. So nobody noticed as I walked out of the kitchen door. It was sometimes a good thing having a house full of people, because it made it difficult for somebody to notice when one of them went missing.
Wrapping my charcoal coat tighter around my body, I stepped out into the nippy cold, and sat down behind the old oak tree placed in our backyard. It wasn’t really a backyard I guess you can say; there were no fences and I wasn’t all that sure where it ended. The house was older and there was no fence when we moved in. Dad has been meaning to build one, but was always too busy. I didn’t mind though, I was fond of the open expanse of land before me.
Resting my back against the old oak, I set the flute to my lips. A shooting thrill went through my body when the soft sound of music floated out. I took a quick look of my surroundings and saw that I was still alone. Had I really let my hopes get up that Melody would come?
I refocused on my flute and let a song begin to form in my head. It calmed my whole body, letting the sweet melody run through my veins. The tune was slow and serene, kind of like how the day was. Pastel blues and whites were the colors I thought of while playing. When I played my music, I usually thought of them in colors. I liked to think of it as me painting a picture, when I played. Music with a fast beat is usually reds and blacks, while soothing beats were lighters colors. What can I say? I liked colors as much as I liked music.
The song was just about done, when I heard the girlish giggle. I jumped and saw Melody watching me with satisfaction in her hazel colored eyes. She sat down in front of me and gave me a light smile. “Hello Elliot.”
“Hello.” I replied. She came! “How did you know where to find me?”
“I’m always with you Elliot.” She giggled. “Tell me, how are you?”
“I’m fine.” I said a little glumly. It would be a lot better if Loanna hadn’t left with her mom to her grandparent’s house for the day. I was lonely and longed for her presence.
“You don’t seem fine. What is wrong?” she tilted her head and a string of her raven black hair fell over her eyes.
I guess I wasn’t much of a liar. “I miss Loanna. She had to visit her grandparents today.”
“Oh, who is Loanna?” she asked excitedly.
“My friend from school. She lives close by, so I can still see her over the break.”
“How sweet. I’m sorry you miss her.”
“Not your fault.” I smiled gently.
“I see you like your flute.” A grin fell onto her face.
“I do. Thank you. It’s much easier to carry than a violin.” I chuckled.
“I’m glad you like it. If you ever need anything, I am here for you.”
This made me smile. I’ve never had somebody tell me they were there for me. I knew Loanna was there for me, but she had never spoken it out loud. We didn’t really have to tell each other, but it was nice to hear it out loud anyways.
I was really beginning to like Melody. We talked in my backyard for a few hours, just keeping each other company. A lot of things she said blew my mind. She wasn’t very musical, but she had a grand piano where she lived and a harp. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the harp, and the piano was my favorite instrument. It was so beautiful, and brought me into a whole different world. I truly wished we had a piano at home.
She was also funny, and sometimes without meaning to. I haven’t laughed this much since the day in the library with Loanna. Without trying, Melody made my day significantly better by keeping me company. Warmth came off the woman like a grandmother does for her grandchildren. It was a pleasant feeling. Little by little, I began trusting this woman I barely knew, with all the matter in my body.

The day had gone by in a flash and I grew sullen when I had to say good-bye to Melody. She promised me she would see me soon and then she left. I went back inside and found my mother setting the table for dinner. She requested that I help her, and I agreed.
Twenty minutes later, the six of us crowded around the table and had dinner together. Aleksander, Otto and my father went on to talk about the quidditch season, while my mother and Jacoby talked about the food. Jacoby had helped her prepare the meal and was exceedingly proud with how the pasta came out. While the rest of the table talked and caught up with each other, I was able to eat my meal quietly. It was completely satisfying being able to eat my dinner in peace.
When I was done, I took my plate to the sink and wandered off to my room. I still couldn’t believe my luck when we first moved in and my mother told me I would get a room to myself. Before then, I had always had to share a room with Otto and occasionally Jacoby. One time, I had to share a room with Aleksander and Otto. Not one of my best memories. But this time I got a room to myself and Aleksander shared a room with Otto, while Jacoby got his own room. It was wonderful having a room to myself.
I walked inside and shut the door soundlessly behind me. There wasn’t much to my room. Slate gray walls, charcoal colored carpet, dark green bed covers, and silver curtains. I wasn’t trying to show Slytherin pride when picking the colors, I just thought green and gray looked good together. Near my door was an oak desk with an establishment of notebooks laid across its surface. I fill notebooks up of poetry and music that I almost had a library. My bed was positioned sideways in the middle of the room, so I had to walk around it to get to my window. A medium sized gap was placed between the side of my bed and the wall by the window. I had exactly two pillows on my bed, which matched the color of the bed covers. On the other side of my window, was my dresser, which was painted black. On top of it laid my wand and my violin case, which had my violin inside of it. My room wasn’t much, but it was a place I could call my own.
Grabbing one of the notebooks from off my desk, I took it with me to my bed and set it on the edge. I began undressing and put on a pair of black sweats. Throwing my pants to the corner of my room, I walked back to my bed and sat down with my back against the wall. Positioning the notebook on my knees, I let my mind go and tried to write down the remains of the song I had composed while in the backyard today.
Time seemed to go faster when I was in the zone, and I hadn’t realized four hours had gone by until I heard a light tap on my door. I didn’t look up as I said, “Come in.”
The door opened and my mother’s head peaked in. “I’m going to bed now El. Don’t stay up too late.”
“Ok, I won’t.” I said, still staring hard at my notebook.
“Good night hun.”
“Night Mum.”
She shut the door behind her and I continued with my composition. I was in high spirits with how it was coming out, when I heard another tapping. This one was different from the knock on the door, and I looked up. Confused, I looked to the right toward my door, but the tapping came again from my left. Turning my head, my eyes locked on a pair of emerald green ones.
I smiled at Loanna, and jumped from off my bed to open my window. She slid easily inside as I shut the window. It was cold outside. What was she doing walking outside in the chilly air? I turned around to look at her and knew something was wrong. Her eyes looked exhausted and her hair was disheveled like she had run her hand though it repeatedly.
“Hey Lolo.” I said in a light voice.
“Hey.” She croaked.
Something happened. Loanna wasn’t happy. She sounded like she had gotten the life sucked out of her. I needed to stay calm for her though. When I was calm, it calmed her down. But I was still worried out of my mind.
“Did you miss me this much that you couldn’t wait to see me until morning?” I teased her casually, trying to get her to smile.
Instead she sank down to the floor and rested her head on the side of my bed. She shut her eyes and I could tell she was struggling to keep her tears in. Loanna never cried. She was tough and never dwelled on things. I probably cried more than her by myself than she did ever. So to see her so close to the edge, I grew even more worried.
I sat down in front of her and took her hand into mine, trying to soothe her. “What happened Lolo?”
She lifted her head back from off the bed and looked away from me. Her eyes focused on the digital clock on my nightstand, which read 11:12, and she frowned. “I’m sorry for coming so late Elliot. I shouldn’t have come.”
I shook my head at her and squeezed her hand. “Don’t be sorry. I’m glad you are here.”
Her lip began to quiver and she still averted her eyes away from me. She was scared to look at me. What was she scared of? What happened to her?
“I wrote a song today. Remind me to show you tomorrow.” I said, trying to distract her. She nodded absentmindedly, staring at my wall.
“I think I bruised myself today too. I hate traveling by floo powder.” Distraction number two.
“I told you to keep your eyes open.” She gave me a watery smile. Still no eye contact.
“I tried! But then I started getting dizzy.” I replied in a whiny voice.
“You’re hopeless.” She chortled.
“Thank you.” I chuckled. I got a small laugh from her! That’s something.
Then it got quiet. Awkwardly quiet. I hated how awkward the silence was. We were never like this. I needed to do something. But what?
“Are you hungry? Thirsty?” I asked her. What else could I say?
“No.” she whispered. Her eyes were getting misty now.
“Loanna tell me what happened. Don’t keep things bottled up. It’s not good for you.” I let slip. I hadn’t meant for it to sound so, heartless. But I was worried!
Her bottle green eyes finally found my ice blue ones, a tear falling gracefully down her cheek.

Oh good grief! That is fantastic! I'm an addict
He shouldn't be trusting that Melody woman. Did his mother never teach him not to accept gifts from strangers?
And what happend to poor Loanna? (excellent name btw)
