Chapter 27
“Time to go. Both of you make your way toward Evania’s cottage. I’ll stop by when I know its safe.” Matt said, his tone serious, but his eyes were full of relief.
“No. We can’t go there. We need to get back to Benjamin’s house! My brother-”
“Shh, Its ok. We will go there instead.” Milo said. Matt frowned but didn’t argue.
“Thank you Matt. I’m sorry I thought you were the bad guy.” Sam said with a shy smile.
He laughed and said, “Yeah and I’m sorry for thinking
you were the bad guy, for making my brother fall in love with you.” She chuckled and Matt winked at her.
“Matthaios, I don’t even know what to say.” Milo said, his eyes wanting to say so much but couldn’t place them into words.
“You can say thank you King Matthaios. Savior of mankind.” Matt said mischievously.
Milo rolled his eyes and said, “I’m not calling you King Matthaios.”
“I believe you just did.” Matt laughed, making Milo smile. “Now go. Before I decide to hex you.”
Milo pulled Matt into a tight hug and the brothers stood embracing for several minutes. It was so beautiful to see, that Sam felt like she was intruding on something. When they let go, Matt kissed Milo on the forehead and apparated.
He then turned back to her and held out his hand. Sam walked over and took it. “Take us where ever you want now.” He said peacefully. Sam nodded and spun on the spot, concentrating on Benjamin’s living room.
When she opened her eyes again, she found that they were standing in a familiar room. The light was on in the kitchen, and was making the empty living room dim with light. She held on tightly to Milo’s hand as she heard sharp movement in the kitchen. The sound of a chair moving quickly against the floor, told Sam they knew they were here. She watched as three men came filing into the living room. Benjamin turned on a light and Sam was momentarily blind. When her eyes adjusted to the light, they rested on her older brother. She watched as three emotions crossed his face in under a minute. First confusion, then relief, that quickly turned to anger.
“Sam are you alright?” he said, his voice under control for the moment.
“Yeah we-”
“Why didn’t you come back here after you apparated?” Benny asked, cutting her off.
“Milo needed to talk to me.” But this was not the answer Benny wanted to hear. His chocolate brown eyes almost turned black as he turned his gaze to Milo.
“So this is your fault?” Benny rounded on him.
“Benny its ok. I’m fine.” Sam said, trying to calm him down.
“How did I know that Samantha? For all I knew you were dead in a ditch somewhere.” He said angrily. Sam had never seen Benny so livid. It took her by surprise.
“I’m sorry for worrying you. This is all my fault. Please don’t get mad at her.” Milo spoke up.
Benny’s eyes darkened. She did not like the look at all. Letting go of Milo’s hand, she walked over to Benny and wrapped her arms around him. “I’m ok Benny. You don’t need to worry anymore. It’s over.”
He didn’t respond to her hug at first, but then he began to melt. He hugged her back and said hoarsely, “You don’t know how scared I was. I thought you were gone.”
“I could never leave you Ben.” She said into his chest. She could feel his frantic heartbeat begin to slow against her cheek. He squeezed her then let go.
Turning to Benjamin and Axel, he bowed his head in thanks. “I owe you two my life.”
“Don’t mention it.” Axel replied with a warm smile.
“Keep your life, I already have Axel’s life for saving him from Javier’s diapers.” Benjamin chuckled. Axel rolled his eyes and punched Benjamin lightly in the arm.
Sam smiled at the two and turned back to Benny. “Can we go home now?”
Benny smiled back at her and said, “Yes. Unless you’re thinking of somewhere else.”
“No, I’m thinking of the same home as you.” Sam chortled. She then walked back over to Milo and reached for his hand. He quickly took it, a nervous look playing on his face.
“Whats wrong?” Sam asked, momentarily confused.
“Well, this is going to be the first time I meet your parents. What do I say?” Milo said. Benjamin laughed out loud at this and Benny let a smirk fall onto his face.
“I bet Silvia gets a kick out of this Greek story.” Benjamin said. Axel elbowed him in the ribs and they both went silent.
“She doesn’t needs to know all the details, but she is going to wonder what he is doing there, Sammy.” Benny said.
“Well, I think its time to introduce mum to my boyfriend.” Sam said, over exaggerating a frightened look.
“Now
that is a scary thought. Sammy with a boyfriend.” Benny teased.
“Imagine what mum is going to say.” Sam chuckled.
“Alright you two are starting to freak me out.” Milo said, an apprehensive look falling on his face.
”We just went up against a group of Death Eaters, but Mum freaks him out.” Sam said rolling her eyes.
“He should be afraid, Sammy. Very afraid.” Benny said, a twinkle playing in his eyes.
“Thanks now I am.” Milo said, his honey colored eyes growing anxious. The all laughed and Sam pulled Milo into a hug.
“Don’t worry I’ll protect you.” She whispered into his ear.
“I thought I was supposed to protect you.” Milo said with a soft chuckle.
“It’s my turn to protect you tonight.” Sam said. He smiled at her and softly kissed her on the lips.
