Draco wandered the halls of Malfoy Manor, trying to find something to do. He was bored, and he had already practiced Quidditch that morning. So instead, he roamed his home in the hope of stumbling across something of interest.
Such as his father’s wand, for instance.
There it was, lying innocently on the cupboard in the hallway, abandoned and inviting to be used. Glancing furtively around, Draco ensured the hallway was empty before he approached and picked it up. A shower of sparks emerged when he waved it around.
Suddenly, a certain spell he had read about recently came to mind. Smirking, he raised the wand, deciding this was the perfect moment to discover the spell’s secret.
“ Morsmorde”, he murmured, and watched a green skull spurt form the end of the wand, and a snake slither out of its mouth. A symbol of sorts - but what did it signify? He would have to research that later when…
“Draco!” his Father’s yell shattered the silence as he appeared at the other end of the hallway. Oh, great, now I’m done for, Draco thought.
He still wasn’t sure what the spell meant, though. |

“What do you think you’re doing?” Draco bellowed, storming across his dormitory to where his last night’s stand was obviously going through his bag.
And everyone knew that Draco’s belongings were untouchable. Except from this particular sixth-year, apparently.
“I just… I lost my wand, I thought you might have…” she stuttered, blushing as her eyes opened in fear at the sight of Draco’s own wand pointed right at her.
“Yeah, right,” the blonde scoffed, noticing the springy willow lying on his bedside table.
He was sick of the lies people fed him. First Blaise, denying he’d ever slept with Pansy when his now ex-girlfriend finally admitted to having cheated on him (Cheated! On a Malfoy! The audacity of her!), and now this.
Losing his patience and badly wanting to take out his fury on somebody, Draco waved his wand around.
“Levicorpus!”
The brunette was flipped around upside down with a shriek which echoed throughout the Slytherin common room.
“That should teach you not to touch my possessions unasked,” Draco smirked, before leaving her hanging over his bed like a dream-catcher.
Only dream-catchers tended to be a mite quieter.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Too Early to Know 29. Obliviate
Lucius stared at his five-year-old son, who was gaping at him from the doorway, horror etched into every feature of his face as he stared up at his father in mute terror.
“Oh, Draco, why can’t you listen to a word I tell you?” the blonde wizard muttered what himself with what sounded suspiciously like exasperation tinting his words.
He turned his back on the bedroom and advanced instead on his child, trying to ignore the slightly guilty twinge he felt when he saw the tears in Draco’s grey eyes.
Tears of fear at seeing his mother passed out on the bed, bloodied up, tears of horror at realizing that all this was his father’s fault, tears of uncertainty.
A child’s innocent tears, and all spilled because of him.
“It’ll be better this way, Draco, you aren’t ready for this,” Lucius took out his wand. Although he fully intended to introduce violence into his son’s life, and beat into him if he must the theory that Malfoy must always be obeyed, it was too early to start those lessons yet.
“Obliviate!”

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Pansy's Birthday present 45. Tarantallegra
“Remind me why we’re here?”
The bored expression on Blaise’s face matched that on Draco’s, as the pair stood in the doorway of the Parkinson mansion, surveying the scene.
It was Pansy’s seventeenth birthday, her coming of age, and it was meant to be celebrated in an appropriate fashion. Which meant, of course, this was a fete thrown for all the rich and pure wizarding families who were too busy gossiping and discussing the latest achievements of the Dark Lord to have any real fun.
“What do you say we go give Pansy her present now?” Draco suggested.
“But I thought we sent it off this morning…” Blaise paused for a moment, before lazily displaying his perfectly white teeth in a grin.
“Precisely. This party needs some livening up,” Draco voiced their thoughts, and together, they drew their wands, pointing them at Pansy.
“Tarantallegra!” They said together, and watched with satisfaction as Pansy’s high-heel clad feet began an impossibly fast jig around the dance floor.
Then, drawing a deep breath, they cupped their hands around their mouths.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

“We’ll have to make a dash for it when they come,” Draco heard Blaise whisper in his ear.
“And get ourselves killed?” he scoffed. “Running into plain view of a bunch of Death Eaters, now that they know we’ve betrayed them?”
“So what do you propose, stay here and wait until they discover us?”
“Nobody will find us, they don’t know where we are, remember? It’s the Room of Requirement!”
“All they’d need to do is think that they want to be in the place where we are now.”
Draco stared hard at his friend. “I never told anyone about this room’s existence, and considering my Father never mentioned it, he doesn’t know. Don’t tell me you told your parents about it?”
“Well, it, uh… might have slipped out…”
“Blaise! If you would have told me earlier, I’d have told them to meet us elsewhere! How are we meant to spy on them and not get caught if they most probably know where…”
“Shuttup!” Blaise drew his wand, head cocked as he listened hard. “Quietus.”
Even Draco’s breathing seemed quieter as he stood, perfectly silent, listening to the approaching footsteps of what sounded like at least a dozen men.

Draco stuffed books back into his bag angrily, irritated by the noise a group of first-years nearby were making. His mood did not improve as he ran into somebody around the corner. Somebody with vivid red hair.
“Watch where you’re going, weasel,” he spat at Ron, who’s ears immediately began to grow pink.
“Learn some manners, ferret!” Ron reconciled.
Despite knowing that he was doing the wrong thing, Draco began drawing his wand, irritated no end by the use of this hated and unflattering nickname he had been given. But Ron was faster.
“Petrificus Totalus!” the redhead yelled.
Just in time, Draco raised his own wand and muttered the shielding spell. The Protego couldn’t have left his lips sooner as the other spell bounced off the invisible shield.
Smirking, he raised an eyebrow at the Gryffindor, as if daring him to try another spell.
Everyone knew that Draco’s shields were the strongest in the school; Ron didn’t stand a chance.

Draco neared the classroom, so far unnoticed. He should have been there, of course; Snape had made it clear that participating in the Dueling Club could prove more than useful for Draco as an aspiring Death Eater. He knew that once his Head of House noticed his absence – if he hadn’t done so already, that is – he’d be in very serious trouble.
Not that he cared. At least, not at the moment; he had more pressing matters to look into, such as helping current Death Eaters into the castle. He wasn’t going to dawdle and play jinx with a bunch of-
“Aaargh!” the blond shouted, feeling his legs wobble and give way. Brilliant, the Jelly-Legs jinx, Draco thought bitterly.
His shout attracted attention from inside the class, and the supervising teacher appeared to see what the commotion was all about. Of course, it was Snape.
“Don’t think that you’re getting away with this, Draco,” the teacher spat, uttering the counter-curse and looking as if he would dearly have preferred to leave Draco as he was instead.
“No, sir,” Draco muttered dejectedly.

"Crazy, innit? Reading someone’s mind?” Blaise asked Draco for the fifth time that evening. The blonde couldn’t honestly say that he wasn’t getting slightly bored with their conversation by now, but he did find the topic just as fascinating as his friend.
“Not really,” he replied, trying to sound cool. “I mean, think about all the other things that wizards have come up with. Reading someone’s mind, or even controlling it, doesn’t seem that far-fetched after all,” he declared.
The boys were just reading up on spells which allowed you to control others, and they had stumbled upon Legilimens. They had just decided to try it out, when a shout echoed from the floor below.
“Blaise! We’re leaving!”
The two either-year-olds looked at each other, disappointed.
“Just our luck. I’ll have to try and slip this back into the Library before dad notices it’s gone…” Draco said as he walked Blaise to the door.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus A Potions Textbook 39. Sectumsempra
Draco leafed through the textbook, curiosity and greed darkening his usually light-grey eyes. No wonder Potter had been getting praise and top marks in Potions this year, he thought, with a book like this at his disposal…
If only he knew that his precious Potions textbook wasn’t so safe after all. Draco grinned to himself at the thought of Harry’s expression were he to find that the Room of Requirement was not such a safe place after all.
Not if one knew where to look and what for, anyway.
Draco paused, listening closely. It seemed as though someone was pacing just outside the door, possibly wanting to gain access themselves…
The blonde stood up, wand at the ready, facing the door. He would not be caught unawares this time, no matter who may be on the other side. Potter managed to catch him off guard once, but it would not happen again. Next time they’d face each other, the Slytherin would certainly not come off worse. And maybe I’ll even use your trick against you, the thought, glancing down at the open book and reading the scribbled writing. “Sectumsempra, was it?

Please excuse the long absence, but here I am, back again!
--------------- First Time 41. Scourgify
He would never admit to anybody that this had been his first spell, but Draco would never forget the surge of pride and exultation which he felt when the shimmering thread of magic left his wand. He’d heard his mother use it more than frequently, in the kitchen or the bathroom, and it was the first thing which had come to mind when he picked up the wand at Ollivander’s.
“ Scourgify!” his whispered, flicking the flexible piece of wood held between the pale fingers of an eleven-year-old.
A warm breeze blew back his platinum hair as the dust on the counter disappeared.
“Splendid! Absolutely astounding, to be able to complete a spell at your first ever attempt…” Ollivander shook his head, smiling as he packed away the newly purchased wand.
Draco allowed himself a self satisfied smirk. Everyone knew the Malfoys were the best.

He hated the brown eagle-owl that delivered his father’s letters to him every now and then. To his growing anger, the mail seemed to arrive more and more frequently, and it was anything but pleasant correspondence. Instead, his father chose to send him a set of instructions, each one more difficult than the other, which were to show his son as a worthy follower of Voldemort.
Stomping angrily up the ancient staircase, he didn’t realise where he was headed until the numerous library bookshelves loomed up in front of him. Deciding that some peace and quiet would do him good, he entered, and almost ran into a certain bushy-haired Gryffindor.
“Watch where you’re going,” he snarled.
“Look who’s ta- are you alright?” her voice suddenly grew gentler as she stared at him.
“Yes, of course I am,” he frowned, narrowing his eyes and only then feeling the cool moisture stuck to his lashes.
Shaking his head, angry and embarrassed, he simply walked past, but a whisper behind him still reached his ears.
“Oppugno.”
A whooshing sound filled his ears as a flock of birds enveloped his head, making it impossible not to smile.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Secret Messages 43. SpeRevelio
Draco strode along the corridor with a frown, trying to figure out why he hadn’t received any message from the head Death Eater at the school yet. It was at least two days late by now, and he didn’t even know who to go to for instructions.
“…we’ve tried long enough, let’s just give it to him already,” a whisper floated along the corridor, and Draco paused, listening.
“And be the bloody ignorant ones again? He never tells us what’s in them, neither of them does. Using us as freaking owls…” another voice replied.
Deciding it was time he found out what was happening, he walked around the corner and almost straight into Crabbe and Goyle.
“Give it to me. Now,” he ordered, holding out his hand. He could hex them right there and then for the trouble the two oafs had caused.
Crabbe handed the blank parchment over meekly, and at a sign from the blond Slytherin, he two vanished. They knew this wasn’t the end of the discussion; Draco wouldn’t let them off that easily.
“Sperevelio!” Draco whispered.
Such a simple spell, and yet some people were still thick enough to forget about it.

“Look who’s here, the blond ferret himself!” Fred Weasley bowed mockingly as the Slytherin Prefect walked by, his twin chuckling appreciatively.
“Oh, and I thought you were about to announce someone important,” Ron smirked as he passed by Draco, never noticing the wand discreetly pointed at his back, or hearing the soft whisper of ”Confundus!”before the blond turned the corner.
“I was supposed to tell you that we have Quidditch practice…” Ron’s voice paused, and Draco laughed into his hand at the confusion and hesitance.
“We don’t have that until Friday, mate,” one of he twins said.
“No, I know that, George, but Harry’s gone and changed the time again and-“
“Can’t you tell your own brothers apart? I’m George, he’s Fred!”
“Seriously, Ron. So, what’s Harry changed it to now then – or have you forgotten that along with our names? You’ll be calling us Gred and Forge next.”
Unable to stifle his laughter any longer, Draco walked hurriedly down the corridor towards his common room, leaving the bickering trio behind him.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Miniature Castle 13. Flagrate
Draco would never forget the first time he’d been taken to see the Dark Lord. Te day he was forced into becoming a Death Eater, just another mask in the troupe of torturers Voldemort prided himself in. It had never been his dream, only his Father’s.
“Ah, so here he is, the offspring of my two faithful supporters,” the cold voice seeped out from between the white lips and Draco cowered.
He wasn’t exactly afraid of the legend before which he was standing, he was more afraid of the heartless grip his Father currently had on his aching shoulder. He had never known any love from Lucius, only fear which fed nightmares, and so not even Voldemort seemed more terrifying at that moment.
“Now, boy, show me where the Headmaster’s office is, let’s see how well prepared you are for this game…” Voldemort’s eyes were cold as he watched the pale blond draw his wand and point it to the miniature castle.
“Flagrate,” Dracp muttered, a fiery ‘X’ appearing in the chosen place. He breathed a sigh of relief when the Dark Lord nodded in agreement.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Shattered Remains 36. Reducto
Cleaning up after the poisonous experiment Snape attempted, that’s what he made his godson do. Draco cursed as he almost drew blood on the shattered glass which pooled under his feet. Every piece of glass there was covered in some sort of deadly substance he knew he could not let into his bloodstream at any cost. Why’d he have to go on a rant afterwards? Couldn’t he have left the vessels as they were, whole, and vanished them, instead of breaking half of them?
Draco vanished all the small pieces, one by one, wishing he could do the same with the cauldrons and bottles still standing on the table. But he had not yet mastered the art of vanishing any larger object.
Suddenly, an evil idea slipped into his mind as he stared at the glimmering glass. Why not follow his godfather’s example and break all the glass there? He could make all the smaller pieces vanish without too big a problem.
“Reducto!” he smiled with satisfaction as he watched the cauldron smash into pieces. So that’s why Snape broke them all – it really is a perfect way of letting of steam, Draco thought as he brandished his wand again.

“How did you do it?” Blaise asked for the umpteenth time, leaning back in his chair, defeated.
Draco simply smirked in reply, his eyes never straying from the ancient spells hidden in the pages of the Transfiguration book he was browsing through. He was waiting for Blaise to finish his Charms homework – Flitwick had set them a 3 foot long essay on laughing charms, as a form of revision for their NEWTs.
“Oh, come on, you want to go out and play some Quidditch before it gets dark as much as I do,” Blaise continued, trying to get his straight-A friend to help.
“Oh, all right,” Draco snapped his book shut and pulled Blaise’s parchment towards him. “You only have half a foot left to fill… Engorgio!”
The handwriting began to expand before their eyes, filling in the pages neatly and clearly, transforming from a squished scrawl to clear, spindly words.
“Come on, then,” the blond grinned as he stood up, glancing towards the window.

Draco gritted his teeth in frustration as he flew around the pitch once, everything around him blurred, as he tried to calm down. His team was being absolutely unmanageable today; he felt as if he was the only one who cared about the match against Gryffindor, scheduled for the following morning.
“Nott! What do you think you’re doing?!” Draco roared, spotting his player spinning in the air and throwing up the Quaffle, trying to catch it without pausing his crazy spiraling.
“Showing off!” Blaise supplied, holding his sides from laughing so hard.
“We have a game tomorrow, and you are wasting time like this?” Draco braked suddenly right in front of their noses, breathing hard, his eyes pieces of glinting steel. “On your positions, now! I want to see you doing something useful!”
Draco flew above them again, watching as Nott was about to score, when he did a backflip, trying to catch the Quaffle and failing, causing Blaise to guffaw with laughter.
There was just no teaching them.
Taking out his wand, Draco pointed it at not and muttered the Hurling Hex, hoping this would teach his housemate a lesson.

“There he goes again, the pathetic old excuse for an Auror,” Draco muttered to Blaise, smirking, as they watched Moody limp past them along the other side of the corridor.
Ever since the incident with Draco being turned into a ferret, he wholeheartedly despised his DADA teacher, and took every opportunity he had to make fun of him. Behind his back, of course.
Except this time, he had forgotten to check who was walking behind his back down the corridor – and the blond only realized his mistake when he heard the satisfied whisper in his ear.
“You should know better than badmouthing Professor Moody, Malfoy, or you might just be turned into a ferret… or acquire a Horn Tongue,” Hermione waved her wand expertly, before smirking and stalking off.
Draco could barely believe his ears when he spun around, furious, and noticed Moody winking at the Gryffindor girl.
“Nice job, Miss Granger.”

Pain and death were everywhere, and the setting sun bathed Hogwarts in an eerie, blood-red glow. Screams, shouts and spells resounded across the grounds and the fringe of trees which bordered the entrance to the Forbidden Forest as students, teachers, Aurors and Death Eaters battled for their lives.
Draco had just stupefied an old friend of his fathers when he heard a heart-wrenching scream behind him and turned to find Hermione falling to the ground, here eyes wide open in shock, before closing when she hit the ground, unconscious.
“Expelliarmus!” Draco yelled, and then turned his wand on Hermione. “Mobilicorpus,” he whispered, making her hover helplessly a few inches above the ground.
He was about to levitate her to the safety of the castle, where Madame Pomfrey was tending to the wounded, when a familiar voice sneered behind him.
“Have you sunk low enough to save mere Mudbloods?” Lucius Malfoy spat, glaring daggers at the boy he no longer called his son.
Draco allowed his girlfriend to rest on the ground, before spinning around, a curse already on his lips as he began the duel against his father.

“So, any ideas who you’re taking for the Masquerade Ball?” Blaise asked, casting a glance around the Slytherin table.
“Not Pansy,” was Draco’s cryptic reply. “You?”
“I’ll probably have to go with one of the Ravenclaws, there are no attractive girls in our house at all, it seems,” Blaise replied, shaking his head in exasperation. “So, who’s this mystery girl?”
“Oh, she’s very… pleasing, in all aspects,” Draco grinned mischievously at his best friend.
“I can’t believe you won’t tell me who it is,” the black haired seventeen-year-old stared at the blond Slytherin incredously.
“You probably wouldn’t believe it anyway, considering she’s in…” Draco choked as the Langlock spell hit him, locking eyes with a certain bushy-haired Gryffindor who slipped her wand up her sleeve, shaking her head.
Sighing, Draco returned to his food. He had been warned, after all, not to tell anyone, and he was about to break the agreement. What bothered him was, how did she hear what they’d been discussing?
He never thought to glance underneath the table, where an Extendable Ear, straight from the Weasley twin’s joke shop, was slowly sliding across the floor in the direction of the Gryffindor table.

Draco gritted his teeth and shut his eyes tightly, trying to ignore the sounds which floated up to him from the landing. His parents had been arguing again, as they frequently did, and once again his Father had resorted to physical abuse. Narcissa’s muffled cries rang out throughout the cold manor as Lucius’ shouts filled the stairway.
Minutes passed, although to the fifteen-year-old boy sitting on his bed, it felt like hours. Silence fell, but still Draco waited, just in case his Father was still there. He cursed his own cowardice and weakness, his inability to help his mother when there was nobody to protect her, and again he swore that one day, he would have his revenge on the man he called his father.
Creeping down the stairs, he picked up his mother’s wand where she had left it, knowing this way the Ministry would be oblivious to him using magic at home.
“Tergeo” he whispered, watching the blood vanish along with the tears which had dried on his mother’s unconscious face.
He levitated her carefully to her room, ignorant of the tears which blurred his won vision.

He saw her shadow where she stood, waiting for all the others to arrive. Draco shook his head, motioning to Blaise to move forward. They would have to somehow overcome this obstacle as well.
Pansy never knew what hit her when she collapsed under Blaise’s well aimed “Stupefy!” Draco hated doing this to people he used to be close to; despite the fact their loyalties now lay in completely opposite directions, he hadn’t forgotten the years he and Pansy had dated, or how much the girl had meant to him then.
“Incarcerous!” he whispered as he and Blaise slipped past, not pausing to watch the ropes bind her body and immobilize her in case she regained consciousness too early.
“You did the right thing, mate,” Blaise patted the blond’s shoulder as they hid in the shadows, cursing the back of every Death Eater they saw, and shooting badly aimed spells at the members of the Order (ones just like themselves) when one of Voldemort’s supporters paid any attention to them.
The two boys had not yet been branded traitors.

“Merlin this essay is long,” Draco complained, stretching and looking longingly out of the window. Blaise followed his gaze, before dropping it back again to his Potions’ essay.
“Well, what do you know, Malfoy is actually doing some work,” a mocking voice floated from around the bookcase. Turning his head, Draco found himself staring straight at Fred Weasley.
“Unlike you two, I actually want to do something worthy with my future,” he sneered back, glancing at George, who had appeared behind his brother.
“I think he just insulted us, George,” Fred turned to his twin, feigning shock.
“We can’t have that, now, can we? The rudeness of kids these days…” George shook his head, discreetly drawing his wand.
“Urgh, you insufferable-!” Draco’s patience snapped as he launched himself at the Weasleys.
“Impedimenta!” George muttered, slowing the Slytherin down considerably, much to the blond’s growing frustration.
It took some time before the spell wore off, and Draco couldn’t count how many more times he cursed the twins when he realized that his hand moved slower as a result of the curse. It took him at least twice as long to complete the essay than it would have down otherwise.

"What do you think you’re doing, Malfoy?” Harry exclaimed, having witnessed the blond aiming a kick at Dobby.
Draco had come to the kitchen for some food, having missed the dinner in favour of snogging Pansy around the dark corridors of the school. He had ran into his old house elf and, finding Dobby’s services less than acceptable, he aimed a kick to speed the creature’s work up.
And that’s when that hero Potter waltzed in.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business, Potter,” Malfoy raised an eyebrow, turning to face his enemy.
“You’d be surprised,” Harry drew his wand. “Furnunculus!”
The Slytherin had been left no time in which to react, the boils grew on his skin at an alarming rate.
“I’ll get you for this yet, you’ll see,” he swore as he tore past the Gryffindor, running to the Infirmary at top speed.

“We have to get out of here, and soon!” Hermione exclaimed.
“Oh, and how do you propose we do that?” Harry asked her. We are surrounded by rubble, and one of us has to keep an eye on that git there all the time…”
“How many time do I have to tell you, Potter, I’m on your side!” Draco yelled, only to be pushed back by the tip of Ron’s wand. “Oh, snap out of it Weasley, and give me back my wand so I can prove it to you.”
“You have got to… Hermione!” Ron exclaimed in horror, as his girlfriend threw the wand to the Slytherin, who deftly caught it.
Smirking, he pointed it at the rubble and issued a powerful blasting spell that cleared a path for them.
“I told you,” he smirked at the two boys, then headed towards the open space. “Come on, we have to get back to the battle and help the others.”

Draco stepped out of the Prefect’s bathroom, his blond hair still wet and dripping. He strode in the direction of the dungeons, but he hadn’t walked half the corridor’s length when he started to feel undeniably cold.
Cursing and wishing he’d thought of drying his hair when he still had the privacy the bathroom had guaranteed, he drew his wand and pointed it at his head.
“Relashio!” he whispered, sighing as he felt the blast of hot hair instantly beginning to dry his platinum hair.
“Well, well, well, who’d have thought? The Slytherin prince dries his hair?” a laughing voice interrupted his thoughts.
Hermione was smiling as she stood, leaning against the wall and staring at him.
“There’s a lot more you don’t know about me,” Draco replied, smirking and simultaneously praying this was something she would keep to herself.
“Don’t worry, Draco, I won’t tell,” she assured him, using his first name and causing him to stop, surprised.
Hermione walked up close, still smiling slightly as she leant up to his ear.
“Let’s just say you’ll owe me,” she said, leaving behind a lingering fragrance of roses as she walked away, leaving Draco positively dumbfounded.
