"Buuurrrppp” Ron gave a long disgusting belch, followed by the cheers of the boys sitting around them. “Buuurrrpppp.” Seamus followed suit.

Hermione, Lavender and Ginny sat in the corner, absolutely disgusted by the actions of the boys. “They are so…so…irksome!” Hermione exclaimed after searching for the right word.

“Sorry to vex you, Hermione!” Ron said after the cheers from a particularly nasty belch subsided.

“Ooh.” Seamus said covering his mouth, “Using the big words Ron!” He gave Ron a high-five.

“Actually, ‘vex’ is a small word and only contains one syllable, like grunt or burp.” Hermione said as she stormed out of the common room followed by the laughter of the boys.

“Get out of my way boy.” Lucius Malfoy sneered at Harry. They were standing in Flourish and Blotts trying to beat the crowds to get the school supplies before the start of the term.

Harry, pretending to ignore Lucius continued to look at the book that he was holding.

Clearing his throat, Lucius repeated himself, “Get out of my way, boy.” This time said through gritted teeth.

Once again Harry ignored him

“I am warning you, boy: move!” Lucius said, beginning to pull out his wand.

“Warning me what?” Harry asked pleasantly as several order members instantly surrounded them, wands drawn.

“’You begin by adding powdered Dragon’s scales, frog spawn and newt eyes. Stir clockwise 150 times, counter clockwise 50 times. X-tinguish the flame, and let simmer until cauldron is cool to the touch, which should take about…’ wait, x-tinguish? Ron it is spelled extinguish!” Hermione said, shaking her head.

She was reading his parchment for potions as she usually did and making the nedded corrections.

“What on earth would make you think it was x-tinguish?” She asked him, still baffled.

“I don’t know.” He shrugged, “Maybe because of X-ray, and X-Men.” He said, thinking his logic was sound.

“What?” He asked in response to Hermione’s sigh.

“Ouch!” Hermione jerked back her hand and stared at the door handle. Looking around to see if anyone noticed, she tried again, “Ouch!” Rubbing her hand she looked over at Ron and the Twins, who where busy playing wizards chess.

When she looked back at the door, the boys looked up slyly, trying as hard as they could not to laugh.

“Did you boys notice anything weird about this door?” Hermione asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

“What about it?” Fred asked with a straight face.

“What are you doing?” George asked her, hardly keeping the laughter out of his voice.

“It’s…it’s…the door is ZAPPING me!” Hermione finally exclaimed.

Ginny hummed as she skipped out into the courtyard. Harry and Ron looked up from the small jar of fire that Hermione had given them to keep their hands warm. They both wore looks of disbelief when they spotted Ginny.

“It has to be below zero out here!” Harry exclaimed, pulling his robes around him tighter.

“What are you doing?” George demanded furiously, referring to the summer jumper she was wearing. “Have you lost your mind girl?! Why are you so cheerful? You are going to get sick out here, go put some clothes on!”

” It is almost spring time!” Was all Ginny had to say, as they led her back inside.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

“I can’t wait for Santa to come and give me lots of presents!” The small boys eyes gleamed with the promise of the possible toys he would receive in just a few short days.

“No, no.” Said Ron, missing the warning looks from the people standing around him. “There is no such thing as Santa, the owls bring the presents, the house elves gather them and then distribute them while we are sleeping.”

He did not miss however, the blow to the back of the head from McGongal.

“Of course he exists dear.” She said soothingly to the small boy. “Don’t listen to this one, Santa just doesn’t like him, he is bitter.”

It's Christmas Time in the City

“I love this time of year.” Luna said in a dreamy voice. She was sitting in the Gryffindor common room in front of the fire with Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Harry, content and feeling lazy from the Christmas feast they had just overindulged in.

”Be careful, the mini snorkleback gobblers that live in mistletoe will make you feel lethargic” Luna said in her ever dreamy voice.

“Luna, there is no such thing.” Ron said, with drooping eyes.

“Yes there is!” Luna said beaming as she pulled out a small tube that held what appeared to be a miniscule turkey with a fish for a tail. “See!” She said proudly.

Soft pink petals floated through the air landing delicately onto the surface of the lake. The sun was shining brightly, there were only a few wispy lazy white clouds in the sky, and the flowers, trees and other plants had begun to bloom earlier than usual.

It was a surprisingly warm and beautiful day for being early March. In the distance, Ginny could hear the sweat sound of laughter coming from children, joyful to be outside after being cooped in the castle for so many months.

She wiped the tears from her face, as still more brimmed on her eyes, finally cascading over the edge.

“It is so beautiful today.” She thought to herself crying softly, overcome with depression.

“Be careful.” Lily told James as she watched him leaning precariously over the edge of the ladder, attempting to put the Star on the top of the Christmas tree.

“I am – “ He began, when suddenly he lost his balance and began to fall just as baby Harry crawled underneath the ladder, right where James was about to land.

“NO!” Screamed Lily, unable to react fast enough, to stop his fall. James however, never hit the ground.

A bubble had surrounded Harry as he sat the giggling at his parents.

“And you wondered if he was magical!” James said proudly, straightening his shirt.

“I am scared.” Ginny told Hermione, a fearful expression in her eyes.

“You have nothing to be afraid of.” Hermione said, her patience running thin.

“But what if he says no?” Ginny asked in a small voice.

“Well, then you move on.” Hermione replied a little harshly. She sighed when she looked over and saw the tears threatening to overflow.

“Ginny, you are acting very unlike yourself, and frankly, I don’t like it.” Hermione said exasperated, “If you never ask him, you will never know, and even if he says no, at least you tried and at least you know.” She added giving Ginny a small shove in Harry’s direction.

"I will not take part of this, and I will not break the school rules!” Hermione said angrily.

Ron and Harry stared at her, amazed by her out burst. “You don’t need to get angry Hermione.” Ron said baffled by her outburst. “And what’s got you off your rocker?” He asked her “You have never had problems with it before.”

“Never had problems?” She asked, “Never had problems?” She said in a dangerous whisper.

“No.” He said confidently, “We didn’t make you lie to McGongal in our first year, no did we?” He asked smugly to her lose of words.

Double-Dog Dare

Ron slicked back his hair, and but on the most dashing smile he could muster.

“How do I look?” He asked Harry in his most suave and debonair voice.

“Great.” Harry said, not able to keep his laughter in check. Neither were the rest of the boys, as laughter rang out in the Gryffindor dorm room.

“This isn’t funny guys.” Ron said, daring the rest of the boys to laugh. “This is the day. It has to be perfect.”

“The day for what?” Seamus asked, desperately trying to stop laughing.

“The day I will ask Hermione to be my girl” Ron said, hands on his hips, a dreamy look in his eyes.

“About time!” Rang out from all of the boys in the room.

Back to his Roots

“What are you wearing?!” rang out as Ron walked into the common room.

“What?” he asked looking down at his outfit for the winter ball. “What is wrong with this?” He asked again.

“You’re, you’re wearing a skirt!” Ginny said laughing.

“No, I am not!” He said indignantly. “It is called a Kilt!” he was wearing a black tuxedo jacket and shirt with matching bowtie, a red and black plaid kilt with knee high socks.

“I was talking to Seamus and he said that most people with red hair like mine are of Scottish decent, so I decided to embrace my heritage.” He announced as Seamus hit his head on a table.

“Oh it hurts.” Sirius was laying on a couch in the Gryffindor common room, moaning piteously to anyone who would listen. “Oh it hurts!” he wailed again, causing a small girl to jump.

Suddenly Lily walked up to Sirius and held up a pair of pliers, “Either go to Madam Pomfry, or a will pull the tooth myself.” She said, anger dangerously flashing in her eyes.

Terrified at what she was going to do, Sirius jumped up off the couch and ran towards the door, “If you didn’t have such a sweet tooth, this wouldn’t have happened!” Lily called after his retreating figure.

A group of girls were huddled in a corner of the Gryffindor Common Room whispering.

“Yeah I know, he wouldn’t even let me get past him.” Lily said whispering. Several girls turned, casting dirty looks in James’ direction

“Oh the nerve!” Another girl whispered “I know!” Lily exclaimed a little too loudly

“I wonder what they are talking about over there?” Sirius asked James.
Probably me.” James said sullenly as the group in the corner burst out in giggles after turning to look at him.

“I have got to get out of here.” James exclaimed, suddenly jumping up and leaving.

"I would like to present the girls from Beuxbatons Academy and the Proud Sons of Durmstrang” Minerva McGonagal announced at Christmas feast.

“Oh no not them again.” Hermione said rolling her eyes in reference to the French girls. However, her eyes immediately began searching for Viktor.

“What a nice Christmas present.” Ron said dreamily as Gabriella blew him a kiss. “She’s your sister-in-law! That’s sick!” Gunny exclaimed smacking Ron in the forehead.

“You’re here.” Ron heard Hermione say in a breathy voice and turned to see her in the arms of Viktor. “Yeah he is here at the present moment, be we will see.” Ron said darkly under his breath.

‘I will not blow up frogs and stick them on the ceiling.’ Fred and George were forced to yet over and over again on an old blackboard, under the watchful eye of Professor Snape.

‘I will not blow up frogs and stick them to the ceiling.’ Fred looked at George out of the corner of his eye, ‘I will not blow up frogs even though they make nice balloons and stick them to the ceiling’ He wrote.
Nodding in gleeful silence he continued ‘I will not blow up frogs that make pretty balloons because it makes S’ He dropped the chalk suddenly as pain erupted in both hands.

“Did you just smack my hands with a ruler?” He asked Snape in utter disbelief.

“In the future, you should take your punishments more seriously.” He said simply

Crabb and Goyle were following it stupidly. Tripping over each other and shoving each other out of the way, the continued to chase the Chocolate cake down the hallway.

The continued to blindly follow this cake, the only thing on their mind was how tasty it would be. So when the cake turned and went into the girl’s bathroom, they didn’t even question it, just followed it in.

“You think they would learn.” Hermione said shaking her head in amazement as she knocked them out. Harry, Ron and Hermione once again needed information from Draco.

“That’s the third time this month.” Ron said choking with laughter.

The chicken was pecking the ground as Ron and Harry came outside. “How hard could it be?” Ron asked Harry as he stepped of the stoop and onto the ground. Walking up to the chicken, he reached down, but it jumped out of he grasp and scurried away.

Molly had asked the boys to catch the chicken for dinner, without using magic. In the window, Harry could see the faces of Molly, Ginny and Hermione as they laughed at Ron’s futile attempts to catch the chicken.

Sighing Harry stepped down and began helping Ron. They jumped leapt, slid, got facefuls of dirt, but still the chicken remained uncaught. Finally, wiping the tears of laughter from her eyes, Molly came out and levitated the chicken into the kitchen. “Thanks for the show boys.” Was all she said.

“Why don’t you come over for dinner Ron, my mom is making something really nice.” Ron said mockingly to Hermione as they sat in the emergency room at a local muggle hospital. They had tried to go to St. Mungos, but were laughed out of there as this was a, “muggle problem, let them fix it.”

Ron had come over earlier that day to have dinner with Hermione and her parents. Her mother had made an excellent stew that Ron had had several helpings of. Near the end of dinner, Hermione had gasped, realizing there was something wrong as Ron’s face began to swell up uncontrollably.

“I didn’t know you were allergic to shellfish Ron.” Hermione said miserably.

“Come on Lily, go out with me.” James had Lily pinned against the wall. “No James, leave me alone.” She said trying to shove him out of the way. “Just give me a try Lil.” He said pleadingly, but making it obvious he wouldn’t move until she gave in.

“Do NOT call me Lil.” She said through gritted teeth. “James you do not have a snowballs chance in h– “

“I wouldn’t finish that if I were you Miss Evans, and Mr. Potter, surely you would like to take a step back and not crowed Miss Evans.” Dumbledore said as he passed by

“Everybody needs a good pair of Socks, I always say.” A group of Professors were sitting around the fire in the staff room exchanging present before most of the staff went home for the Holidays.

“Right Harry, when have you ever said that?” Hermione asked. “Ok well I never said that, but a wise wizard once told me that.”

A chorus of “Thank you Headmasters” had rang out as they rest of the teaching staff had filed out leaving Headmaster Potter and Professor Granger alone in the Teachers lounge.

“I was trying to be Dumbldore-esk.” Harry said sighing. “By giving the entire staff wool socks, Harry” Hermione asked rolling her eyes.

“How do you spell ‘Antidisestablishmentarianism’ Hermione?” Ron asked from across the Common room. He was working on a parchment for his Muggle studies class.

“Let me check the Dictionary.”

“Check what?” Ron asked utterly appalled.

“It is called a Dictionary Ron.” Hermione said laughing as she held up a thick book.

“Oh, yes, well I knew that.” Ron said muttering trying to cover up his mistake, as Hermione opened the book.

“You know Ron, when they said ‘big words’ they didn’t mean the biggest word in the English Language.” She said laughing as she flipped through the pages.

“HA! I won again!” “No surprise there Seamus.” Dean said miserably as he got up abruptly from the table.

“What?! You don’t want to play again?” Seamus asked him, surprised.

“No, Seamus. I don’t. You have one the last 4 games. I don’t want to play again.” Dean said as he sulked up the stairs to the dormitory.

Seamus walked in to the dormitory as Dean was putting on his pajamas. “I’m sorry.” He said to Dean, “I know how much you practiced, I didn’t mean to be a jerk.” He said. He turned around and left as Dean climbed into bed, hugging his pillow.

“No there is nothing in here, sweetie.” Hermione’s father told her with a sigh as he opened the newspaper. She had asked him every single morning while she read the daily prophet. He knew she was worried, but he was getting irritated that she didn’t just simply look in the paper herself.

At that moment an owl flew into the kitchen. He was now accustomed to this happening, but he didn’t think he would every get used to it.

Hermione took the letter and read it. “Ron wants me to come spend the rest of the summer with him and his family, but I can’t go and leave you two here.” Hermione said in a sad voice.

“Yes you can!” Her father sad happily, trying not to sound too eager, “Why don’t you go pack. Right now!”
