Drabble 1: #69 Slap

Viktor was walking out of the castle, not paying any attention to his surroundings as he noticed Hermione sitting by herself near the lake. Smirking, he began to walk towards her when he walked right into a fifth year Slytherin. SLAP! The Slytherin girl sneered at him, making Viktor smile terrified. Blushing furiously, Viktor shook it off, apologized thickly and walked up to Hermione, his face stinging as everyone laughed around him.

"Hermy-own," He said softly. She looked up at him, smiling expectantly.

"Yes?"

"Um…Vould you have a quill I could borrow please?"

Hermione broke out in tears, running away.

Viktor walked outside into the blinding sunlight, scrunching up his eyes. He needed something to fulfill his sweet tooth and he knew where to get it. He set off along High Street, determined to make it to Honeydukes before they closed. The sky was getting very cloudy now, the wind picking up. The fog which had been around for a few months stuck to him like glue. He walked faster, seeing the store two feet away. Walking in, he ordered,

"5 pounds of your chocolate and make it quick!"

Grabbing the chocolate, Viktor stormed outside, sat down scarfing it down.

"Do it."

"No."

"If you want to be on the team, you have to do it. I dare you."

"Fine" he sighed going into the changing room, coming out ten minutes later wearing a costume that looked like a teapot. Climbing onto his broom, which was difficult, he soared up into the air, pointed his wand at his throat muttering "Sonorous" and began singing,

"I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle, here is my spout. When I get all steamed up hear me shout. Tip me over and pour me out!"

The team roared with laughter.

It was dinnertime and Viktor was ravished. Walking into the hall, he was shocked to see the room over-run with chickens. Feathers were everywhere as students tried to catch them.

"Vhat is going on? Is this 'Catch your own dinner' day?" he asked shouting above the noise. Goldien came running up to him, scratches on his face and said,

"The Headmaster thought it would be funny to watch us catch our own meal".

Viktor scowled, "Why don't you just stun them?" Goldien blushed and said.

"We didn't think of doing that."

"Obviously." Viktor replied, stunning a chicken and sitting down.

The common room was packed with noisy students as Viktor tried getting his Ancient Runes essay done before class started. He growled low in his throat as he pushed away his parchment, just as a paper airplane came zooming past him.

"How am I supposed to study if I can't hear myself think?" he said to himself, getting up quickly, throwing his bag over his shoulder.

"Easy, don't!" his friend said, putting his arm on Viktors shoulder and pulling him back.

"I'd rather play ball right now then work anyway." Viktor said, charming Goldien to bounce around like a ball.

Flying high, Viktor smiled for the first time since he had said goodbye to Hermione. The wind rushed against his face as he soared past the empty stands, imagining the crowd shouting his name as he caught the Snitch.

"Viktor!"

The crowd roared as he went for a victory lap, snitch tightly in his hand.

"Viktor!"

He flew down with a sense of excitement and watched his Quidditch teammates surrounding him.

"VIKTOR! Dinner time."

He snapped back to attention, almost falling off his broom. Standing in the middle of the empty field was his mother watching him, holding her apron.

Viktor was sitting in the library at Hogwarts, watching Hermione through the bookshelves. He had to ask her to the Yule Ball, yet he was a coward and didn't know how to ask. He listened as Harry and Ron said they were leaving, and then made his move. Walking duck-footed towards her, he cleared his throat,

"Herm-own-ninny?"

She looked up from her book, Hogwarts a History, "Yes?"

"Vill you go to the Yule Ball vith me?" He asked his palms sweaty with nerves. She looked at him curiously, before a giant smile spread on her face.

"Yes." She said softly.

Viktor was bored. Being at Hogwarts was not what he wanted to be doing right now. He began to wonder if he should do something productive, instead of sitting around the Library, watching the brown haired Gryffindor named Hermione. Deciding to try something productive, he picked up a book, not noticing the title and began reading.

"Excuse me, but are you through with that?" Hermione said coming up to him with a slight blush on her cheeks. Viktor frowned, closed the book, which was Hogwarts, A History and handed to her.

She walked away without even thanking him. He sighed.

His quill was unmoving, the ink dripping soundlessly onto the parchment. He had come to a decision. He would write Hermione a poem to tell her his feelings, since he wasn't able to do so in person.

"Your eyes are like candy, sweet yet demanding,
Your hair is as smooth as silk.
Your voice is melodic, drifting through my ears like a sweet melody.
When you walk past me I breathe in your scent,
How can it be that fate brought us together?"

He sighed, crumpling up the piece of parchment and threw it in the fire.

Soon he thought.

The room was dark and empty. Viktor walked in, curious about the noise that was coming from the far corner. He pulled out his wand, ready to defend himself if need be and walked slowly, ever watchful. A small ray of light shone from the window, blocked mostly from the rain that was falling outside, giving off weird shadows from where the light penetrated.

Suddenly thunder struck, casting an eerie glow to surround the room as Viktor stopped and looked around. There in the corner, he found Hermione, holding a piece of parchment and crying.

Viktor remained silent and left.

Classes were starting and Viktor decided to wander around the castle, seeing what was up since it was his free period. He made his way down the corridor, listening in on the conversations going on and heard something that caught his attention.

"We are going to charm these carrots to dance the jig across the table."

More curious now, wanting to see something fun for once, Viktor walked up to the door to the Charms classroom and watched as one by one, carrots jumped up, did a jig across tables and stopped.

"Cool." He said moving on, shaking his head.

He watched her as she ran down the hall, tears streaking down her cheeks like little rivers of emotions. It secretly pained him to see her this way, but he could do nothing about it. They had been friends for too long, but they had changed; she with her Auror training, he with his Quidditch career. They were too different now, two strangers living together.

She cried silently, knowing it was over without him saying anything. She ran to their room, packing away her belongings and writing a note for him before leaving.

"Goodbye Viktor, my love."

He had lost.

Viktor pulled on his dragon hide gloves, not wanting to be there at all. He hated the smell, rank and disgusting dirt, slimy and creepy looking plants which could bite your head off in one go. He jumped nervously as the plant hissed at him. Scowling he shook off his indignation and ploughed ahead, cutting away the leaves which would be used for the next Potions lesson. Suddenly a vivacious purple root shot out of nowhere, nailing Viktor on his head. The class roared with laughter as the professor said,

"Now, now, don't be like that." petting the tentacula fondly.

Viktor was feeling rambunctious that day, he wanted to do something fun and exciting. He had a plan which would entertain him for awhile. Taking his Stink Pellets which he had ordered on his last trip to the store, he snuck into the teachers' lounge placing them at strategic intervals around the room. He turned to leave, sniggering slightly and realized someone was in the room.

"Headmaster!" he said nervously, with sweat on his brow.

"Viktor, haven't I taught you anything? Stink pellets won't work, you need to use dung bombs!" He smirked as he winked and walked out, sniggering.

The wind was picking up; a storm was approaching, which was alright with Viktor. He was annoyed and angry and was glad to have the distraction from his discomfort. The sky opened up into a great downpour of rain, washing the muck away from the ground below as lightening zapped the trees of the wilderness. It was melodic, hearing the thunder which boomed through the walls, the lightning casting shadows in the walls. Viktor stared out the window, wishing it would be that easy to zap his feelings like the lightening zapped the treetops, but alas, it wasn't the case.

Viktor wrinkled his nose as the pus oozed out of the pod. It was nasty, yet melodic as it dripped silently into the container he was holding underneath it. How could something so wonderful give off such a smell when punctured? It was just like his heart; filled with contentment and love then exploding with hate and fear. He tossed the empty pod away, taking another, wishing it would be that easy when it came to matters of the heart. He knew it was hopeless though; and sighed as he listened to the drip, drip as the pus poured out.

An 11 year old Viktor swam, laughing hysterically as his father dived under the water, coming up behind him and saying "boo!" He loved moments like this with his pappy; times when it was just him and Viktor, not worrying about when he would be called away on another mission for the Bulgarian Ministry. Viktor swam away from his father, who gave chase, calling out "I'm gonna get you!" in a teasing way. Viktor squealed as large hands gathered him up, lifting him out of the water. He swung his arms around his father, glad for these precious moments alone.

Viktor stared blankly into the bubbling potion in his cauldron. It was supposed to be a bright green color; instead it was a dull brown. He had forgotten to add an ingredient, but he couldn't remember which one. He saw the professors sneer from the back of the class as he walked up along the desks, looking at everyone's potions. He stopped at Viktors, and said,

"Viktor, what's that?"

"My potion professor."

"I don't think so." He flicked his wand, causing the potion to spill onto Viktor, making bright green spots to appear on him, which smelled like a skunk.

His wand was raised in a defensive position. He glared menacingly up at his opponent. Viktor was teeming with such a strange emotion it confused him. Glaring, his opponent sneered as she flailed her wings. At this present time all he could think about was getting that egg in the quickest time possible.

"Conjunctivitis!" Viktor roared. The spell shot from his wand, hitting the Chinese Fireball squarely in the eyes. She jumped around, smashing her many eggs, but was confused enough not to notice Viktor make a grab for the golden egg and run. He was victorious, he had won.

The grass was soft against his feet as he walked along the lakes edge. He had been thinking a lot about his future lately. The sun was shining hypnotically on the lakes surface as he stopped, gazing at the Quidditch Pitch. He had been with the Bulgarian Quidditch team for a full year now and had learned a lot about Seeking, but he wanted more now. The war was growing stronger each day, innocent witches and wizards being murdered. He made a decision there on the grass, he would work hard to become an Auror and fight the good fight.

"You're in for it now" The seventh year student said, towering over the First year Viktor, who was shaking with fear. His wand was held tightly in his hand, sweat beginning to form on his brow.

"Are you going to duel me, or are you a chicken?" jeered the boy, glaring down at Viktor who was shaking.

"I'm…I'm sorry for bumping into you, I swear!" Viktor said, trying to sound unafraid. The older boy laughed, putting his wand in his pocket. Ruffling Viktors hair the older boy said as he walked away,

"Welcome to Durmstrang squirt."

Viktor stood there stunned.

Viktor stared at her as she ascended the stairs; her brown hair bobbing gently on her shoulders. He was mesmerized by her beauty and stared gawk-eyed. She was gorgeous in her dress robes of light blue, flowing down her figure, accentuating her glowing face as she stood in front of him, waiting.

Hermione stood there nervously, watching as Viktors face turned from bored to amazed in one swing of his gorgeous eyes. A blush came to her face as he said,

"You look beautiful Herm-own-ninny." She smiled, placing a hand in the crook of his arm and together they entered.

Viktor was bored and decided to take a walk on the grounds of Hogwarts while his classmates had their class. He wandered around for a bit, finally stopping at the wondrous and mysterious Whomping Willow tree which was situated in the middle of the grounds. His eyes glazed over as he looked up at the branches which swung lazily at a poor bird who had wandered too close. The squawk of the bird rang throughout the grounds. Viktor smirked, shaking his head and turned, mind reeling of the fact that something that innocent looking could be so dangerous and mystifying.

The Yule Ball was beginning to get to Viktor now; all he wanted to do was get some sleep so he could train more for the second task, but no he had to stay and dance. It wasn't that he didn't like Hermione, who was sitting beside him, smiling warmly, no it was because he couldn't stand to watch those Veela flaunting their stuff around the Great Hall, acting as if they're all that, with their flowing silver hair, their angelic features, their dazzling…

"Viktor?"

Viktor blinked, realizing he had been staring open-mouthed and gawked eyed. Hermione sniffed and left.

Laying in bed, Viktor wished he had a Pensive to place all his memories of the past few months since the Triwizard Tournament. Everything was strange now; what with He Who Must Not Be Named running about, scaring the life out of everyone. Viktor had to admit he was nervous, though he didn't show it on the outside. On the inside, he was shaking, thanking who-ever was up there every morning that he was still alive. He turned over, staring out the window and thought to himself,

"When this is all over, I'm taking a long deserved vacation to Tahiti."

The roar of the crowd deafened Krum as he soared over the heads of everyone shouting his name. Everywhere he looked, he saw the Bulgarian colors wink back at him, his national anthem bellowing out from the crowd as he swooped in for the snitch. He spotted it, hovering above the head of the Irish chaser Mullet. With a burst of speed Viktor dived, barely touching the ground before swooping up again and making a grab for it, which he felt struggling against his fingers. He stopped as a wave of cheers rose up and the announcer bellowed,

“Bulgaria wins!”
