Homework ______________________ Theme # 100: Homework “Lils, I can’t believe you’re studying. Lils, I can’t believe you’re working. Lils, I can’t believe you’re learning.” Being Lily Evans is hard, especially if you’re committed to someone as handsome – and obnoxious – as James Potter. It’s not my fault he can get an O in every subject without cramming a single bit of theory. All I know is that I want to study, and he won’t let me. Does that mean I don’t love how he kisses me? Nope. After all, who cares about a stupid bit of homework? |
Theme # 6: Divination Theme # 6: Divination I suppose Dean is a good choice, as far as boyfriends and pals are concerned. In fact, a very good choice. He’s tall, he’s great at Quidditch, he’s handsome, he’s well-built: what else does a girl want? All my friends agree, but disapproval sets in every time Dean meets me after attending a Divination lesson. “Not a good choice, Ginny,” they tell me, shaking their pretty heads. And I have to agree, deep within, even though I don’t say it out loud. I mean, who wants a boyfriend with a thing for tea-leaves? |
Theme # 1: Herbology Theme # 1: Herbology Seamus Finnegan and I first met in our first year, and I have enjoyed his company ever since. Even though we are not official together, my twin sister, Parvati, thinks we make a great couple. Yesterday, we paired up in Herbology class. It might not be labelled as a first date, but it was certainly an eye-opening experience. I have come to realize that, while Seamus definitely has a fashion sense a lot would die for, he is not very good with compliments. When I accidentally dropped my tray on his toe, he said, “Wow. You’re good at this, girl.” |
Theme # 3: Transfiguration Theme # 3: Transfiguration I give up: I can not understand Albus, no matter how hard I try. Only last week, I stormed into his office after midnight, pink carpet slippers – yes, I admit it, they were pink – on my feet, my countenance livid. “Albus!” I cried. “Dolores goes too far. A new decree in the middle of the night? What in the name of Merlin is this supposed to mean?” In response, Albus looked up from his three thousand pages thick book on Transfiguration, inspected me over his half-moon spectacles, and said serenely, “I see you have bought new slippers, Minerva. How charming.” |
Theme # 2: Muggle Studies Theme # 2: Muggle Studies I cannot understand Arthur Weasley. He says he’s a year older than me, and so he’s wiser but, honestly, why does he even bother with Muggle Studies? We’ve been dating for quite a while, now. Thought he was the kind of guy I wanted. I’ve been having second thoughts since yesterday, though. “Molly, come here, will you?” That was yesterday. My best friend called, and I went. And there was Arthur, experimenting with plugs in the common room. He has a new obsession with them. I don’t think I want to live in a house with plugs. Lots of them. |
Theme # 59: Ignore Theme # 59: Ignore There are some people it is impossible to ignore. You can not ignore Remus Lupin: After all, he’s a werewolf. I mean, how cool is that? You can not ignore me, either. I’m a metamorphmagus. I knock over the first thing in sight – you, if it’s you – and I change my hair to violent purple. I know Remus loves me. But it’s tough, being Mrs. Remus Lupin, sometimes. Especially when he is frustrated but won’t say it. – Mostly, that happens when Teddy’s hair changes to orange, and our pet cat runs away in fright, scratching him – hard – on the way. |
Theme # 27: Owl Theme # 27: Owl Dating a Weasley is a very exciting prospect. I know what a lot of other people who haven’t done it say: The Weasleys are poor. Funny how some of them – take Ginny, for instance – have a dozen or two of the opposite gender mad for their company, though, no? And George Weasley is very, very funny. When I was in my last year at Hogwarts – Quidditch captain Angelina Johnson – I thought the same. But in a different way. I know he’s my Mr. Right, now – even if his new owl bites me, hard, every time it catches sight of me. |
Theme # 13: Quidditch Theme # 13: Quidditch Sometimes, I can’t help being super happy that Harry and I are as unlike a pair as Ron and Hermione as possible. We barely fight, we don’t go through long periods of communication-at-standstills. He’s perfect. I’m perfect. I know, I know: Sometimes, I feel a little conceited about being Ginny Weasley. – All thanks to boys. They say I’m pretty. And pretty. And brave. And pretty. Get the gist, right? Besides, I’m a darn good sight at Quidditch. Harry thinks so, anyway. And when he tells me that after a raging, storming day of practice – How can I not feel proud? |
Theme # 98: Pajamas Theme # 98: Pajamas Ronald Weasley is cute, in a tall, freckled sort of way, no argument about that. Mad sense of humour, too. In a good way, I mean. But, agree with me or not, he has no skill when it comes to buying gifts. I mean, for Christmas, I bought him the loveliest piece of gold ever. Chain and all, with Won-Won engraved on it. And what does he respond with? – A silly pair of pajamas, with a note attached to it, reading, “Thanks for making up my day, this Christmas. I hope this makes up yous in exactly the same way.” |
Theme # 11: History of Magic Theme # 11: History of Magic While I was at Hogwarts – or, rather, while I was alive and at Hogwarts – most people deemed me quite ugly. Moaning, mopping Myrtle with her moaning, mopping ways, they would say whenever I passed. There was one first year who adored me, though. Very flattering, no? I was in my third year, but I would have still enjoyed it, had he asked me out. And, if truth be told, he did. In a sweet, little voice, too. There was just one problem: He did it in the History of Magic classroom, and I don’t enjoy History of Magic. At all. |
Theme # 99: Newspaper Theme # 99: Newspaper Usually, I enjoy being Molly Weasley. Shouting at the twins, cutting Bill’s hair, getting Ron to study Divination, toning down Ginny and her fiery temper – all of this makes life at the Burrow very interesting. But, yes, I could wish for one, little improvement. It would be so much easier if Arthur could pick up the morning newspaper! Mostly, he’s at the office by the time it is delivered. As for weekends – he’s simply too disused to the thought! The post owl seems to realize this, too: It flies around me, nudging, until I detach the thing from its leg. |
Theme # 35: Pureblood Theme # 35: Pureblood For me, it is very important to be a pureblood. Draco agrees. I adore his blood status and, indeed, we make the loveliest pure-by-blood couple. But a peek in the life of Pansy Parkinson can be tough, at times, and you have my word for it. Putting up with Crabbe and Goyle much of the time when we are not alone, for instance, is highly maddening. Crabbe likes to eat a lot; Goyle likes to eat even more. Sometimes, it makes me feel that, one of these days, I might start adoring chocolate muffins, too. Oh, the horror! |
Theme # 97: Dictionary Theme # 97: Dictionary “Her-my- ninny?” “Yes, Viktor?” “Vot you reading?” “Runes dictionary.” “Um… How many pages to go?” “Three thousand and sixty seven.” “Oh.” Yes, I adore Viktor. It’s a strange feeling, knowing one of the most famous people in the wizarding world – yes, can you believe it? – loves you. But, you know, Viktor is startlingly dry when you start talking to him of studies. Oh yes, he takes interest, makes his jokes, nods at just the right time: But I don’t think he enjoys knowing what line thirteen on page seven of my sixth volume of Arithmancy Parallels says. Poor, poor me. |
Theme # 95: Snowball Theme # 95: Snowball Oliver Wood is such a gentleman. Proof? Last night: “Oey, Alicia!” Anyone would know that voice: Oliver. I ran over, half throwing myself into him. He laughed pleasantly, spinning me around. Then I bent down, scooped up a snowball and – thwack: Oliver was grinning down at me throw a cover of snow. And the best part is, he let it go. I was pretty glad about that, especially since I was freezing. I wasn’t so glad when I had to spend an hour listening to his Quidditch talk, though. Yes, yes, I know: Quidditch is love. But Oliver? He’s better. |
Theme # 93: Chicken Theme # 93: Chicken It is always lovely, an evening with Cedric. He has a way with words that makes me feel like the most special girl on earth. My friends think I am very lucky. I think so, too. Cedric is an amazing person: Tall, handsome, ruddy. The real Hogwarts champion, too, as some call him. Yes, I have dreams of marrying him, someday someway. There is just his one little fault: He loves chicken. Chicken roasted, chicken fried, chicken everything. I do not. At all. I guess we’ll work out a solution, one of these days. No chicken on Friday nights, maybe? |
Theme # 92: Chocolate Theme # 92: Chocolate Sometimes, I find Lucius highly inconsiderate. Yes, I’m in a rage. A terrible one. A VERY terrible one. I mean, does he even care about me, Narcissa Black, the so-called love of his life? I don’t think so. He got Andromeda chocolates. Chocolates. HELLO! I, NOT ANDROMEDA, AM THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE! He did not get me any, nope. Oh yes, I know what you’ll say. It’s what he says, too: It’s Andromeda’s birthday, not mine. But that is no excuse. If he gets my sister a present, he should get me one, too. I hate you, Lucius Malfoy. |
Theme # 23: Telescope Theme # 23: Telescope Winky is very fond of Dobby, indeed. Dobby is generally a mighty good house-elf at Hogwarts: he does his share of the work with enthusiasm, cleaning up all of the Gryffindor common room by himself, and making sure the telescopes up at the Astronomy tower are well dusted and sparkling. Often, he agrees to do extra work and help out the other house-elves. Dobby is not without faults, though. He wears clothes he likes, and does not think it is a disgrace that his old master freed him. He even calls old master Malfoy names! Bad Dobby, very bad Dobby. |
Theme # 89: Past Theme # 89: Past I do not believe that blood is important. Neither does Regulus. But, sometimes, I can not help being glad that I am a pureblood. Because, at times, I can not help thinking: What if my blood status was different? Yes, it is a very scary thought. Being Miss Right for a Black can be very dangerous, at times. The Blacks are a powerful family, with deep roots in cultural pasts and magical histories. They do not tolerate anything less than a pureblood for their children. I wouldn’t be able to live if I couldn’t marry Regulus because of my blood! |
Theme # 88: Sweet Tooth Theme # 88: Sweet Tooth Michael Corner makes a nice boyfriend. He is not bad looking: In fact, quite good looking, if truth be told. Point number one I – yes, the Ginny Weasley – got together with him. But, all said and done, he is a sour type of guy. I’ve seen he can never bear a Gryffindor victory – Ever. Every time Gryffindor takes the lead in the house cup, he sulks. Every time Gryffindor wins a Quidditch match, he sulks. Every time a Professor praises a Gryffindor in the class, he sulks. Oh, and he doesn’t have a sweet tooth. At all. – What a jerk. |
Theme # 86: Daring Theme # 86: Daring Fault number one with James Potter: Too daring. Not that I don’t love this quality of his. Any girl – and that category includes me, Lily Evans future-Potter – would definitely melt if a boy could hex three, fight nine, and disarm six to show how much he cares for her. But when you consider that none of the three or nine or six know why they are being hexed, fought with or disarmed, the event loses its touch, you know. All I asked him was what he could for me. I wanted a flattering response, not an invented on-the-spot duelling arena! |
Theme # 85: Snappish Theme # 85: Snappish I love Blaise when he is snappish. Yes, yes, I know. Most girls would prefer boyfriends who tail after them with chocolates and candy: I don’t. I’m Ginny Weasley, and the name itself spells fire. I like black, I like emo. I don’t like chocolates and candy all the time. And when Blaise comes to me, and passes a comment he shouldn’t, and I reply with a comment I shouldn’t reply with, and we fight, and he gets snappish – yes, I love him. The drawback in the story? – I’m not sure he feels exactly the same way about my snappiness. |
Theme # 84: Angry Theme # 84: Angry Sometimes, it feels heavenly to be me, Walburga. I can not deny it: I have a near perfect life. I have faithful friends, a job I admire, lots of money and, above everything else – a loving fiancé: Orion Black. And Orion could make any girl’s life complete. We are getting married next month. Such excitement! The only little hurdle in the way of my happiness is my sister, who is not pleased with our courtship at all. I know she’s angry, very angry, because she wants me to get married with someone else. Being someone’s Miss Right isn’t always smooth. |
Theme # 83: Fearful Theme # 83: Fearful Please don’t ask me any questions, right now. Because I’ve just had a good, long cry, and I’m not in the mood to answer. Theodore Nott. When he first told me he loved me, I was surprised. How could someone love me, Loony Lovegood? It seemed he did, though. My own feelings grew with time, too. But now, I’m scared. Being a spy for the Order must be very hard and, whenever he’s not here, I can’t help feeling fearful. What if something happens to him? We had such a perfect life… Why did he have to go in hiding? |
Theme # 82: Careful Theme # 82: Careful “FRANK LONGBOTTOM! GET DOWN THIS INSTANT.” Hello. I’m Alice. Alice Blake. Did I mention future Mrs. Longbottom? I love Frank, I tell you, I really love him. And it’s wonderful, the way he tells me he loves me, too. I’m an Amazon sort of girl, at least in spirit: wild and free. But Frank Longbottom? He makes me shout ‘Careful!’ every time. Unbelievable, isn’t it? Take today. I’m standing here, screaming my throat out, while he sits up there, atop the most perilous tree in the grounds of Hogwarts, laughing his head off with James and Sirius. Ahhhh. Poor me. |
Theme # 81: Depression Theme # 81: Depression Sometimes, I feel that loving Ronald Weasley is a complete waste of time. The number of times a day he snogs me – uncountable. The number of times a day he tells me he’s my Won-Won, mine and no one else’s – uncountable. The number of times a day he laughs at my jokes – uncountable. And, despite it all, I am going through a serious bout of depression. You would think being his Miss Right should make me happy. Nope. Because, every time we’re in the Three Broomsticks and he sees stupid Rosmerata, his eyes pop out and he forgets me. Git. |
