"You all know, of course, that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago - the precise date is uncertain - by the four greatest witches and wizards of the age. They built this castle together, far from prying Muggle eyes, for it was an age when magic was feared by common people, and witches and wizards suffered much persecution."

C O M P L E T E !

With these drabbles I will try to create a story of the Founders from the beginning when Hogwarts was just a dream the four shared, to Salazar Slytherin's departure from the school, and their eventual passings. Some of the drabbles will be connected directly like a dialogue, while others will be connected in a different way. I hope you all enjoy reading these as much as I enjoy writing them!

Gazing out the window with his wild red hair blowing in his face, Godric Gryffindor knew that the world was in need of change. Innocent blood spilled by anxious hands, surely there something they could do to protect wizardingkind.

It was for this very reason that he had owled the three people he trusted most. They needed to put their dream into action, now.

Three loud popping noises one after the other, and now there were four people in the tower, each with the same look of horror on their faces.

“My friends, now is the time. We must unite.”

●○16. Dragonhide gloves○●

“Almost as disgusting as a Muggle,” Salazar spat as threw on his dragonhide gloves grabbed a clabbert from a cage in in the Care of Magical Creatures room by the neck. There were about a dozen of them, so he highly doubted the dimwitted professor would miss one. “Stop squirming or I will be forced to snap your next,” the man hissed as he hurried through the corridors. His pet preferred its food live.

Finally arriving at his secret chamber, Salazar called his pet who came slithering towards him with his yellow eyes ablaze with hunger.

“Time for dinner,” Salazar smirked.

●○72. Vex○●

Rowena noticed Salander duck into the girl’s bathroom. As if that were not strange enough, she could have sworn she saw him carrying a clabbert. Waiting only a few moments before she began her pursuit, she entered the girl’s bathroom and began searching around for the snake.

“Salazar, what are you doing?” she called expecting an answer right away. But none came. “That’s odd…I know I saw him come in here…”

She searched every stall only to find each of them emptier than the first.

“Salazar?” she called again. What was he up to and where had he vanished to?

●○12. Charms○●

Having started her Owlerobics too late, Helga had had no choice but to go to a different robes’ shop a buy simple black robes of a larger size. Seeing as students would be arriving by carriage soon, she began rushing to get herself prepared. Throwing on the raven robes, she looked at herself in the mirror and a frown appeared on her face. Black just didn’t suit her. Taking out her wand now, she began to paint over her reflection with it. As she did, her robes changed from a dull black to the striking goldenrod from before.

“I’m ready!”

Godric was glad that he had volunteered to greet all the young minds as they loaded the carriages that would eventually lead them to Hogwarts Castle. He couldn’t wait to see the looks on their faces.

Adjusting the collar of his crimson robes, he smiled as the first wave of students arrived by portkey.

“Welcome,” his voice boomed. “Please find a carriage in an orderly fashion and…”

The young ones didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence and began pushing and shoving to be the first one into a carriage.

“Merlin help me,” he groaned. “I said orderly fashion!”

●○41. Thestrals○●

Standing a top one of the one of the towers overlooking the road scattered with carriages bringing Hogwarts’ first students to the castle, Salazar met each of the carriages with a grim expression. “I suppose thestrals were also your idea?” he asked through clenched teeth.

“How did you…” Rowena began.

“How do I know those carriages are being pulled by thestrals?” he finished for her. Rowena nodded. “I have seen death, Rowena.”

Rowena returned her gaze to the carriages. Hopefully none of these youngs minds had. At least not yet.

“Who?”

“My mother…by filthy Muggle hands,” he hissed in return.

●○30. Feast○●

Now that all the students were seated in the Great Hall and all speeches done by the Headmaster, it was time for the four friends to take their turn. First was Salander who, with a flick of his wand, sent out emerald green sparks that landed on certain students. Godric was next with crimson followed by Rowena with sapphire. Helga was last and her yellow ones fell on those remaining.

“Now that you have been sorted,” Godric’s voice boomed as students’ robes changed color. “Let us celebrate the dawn of a new era and dine together. Let the feast begin!”

●○45. Torch○●

“Come along my little puffballs,” Helga smiled leading her group of students.

“Professor,” said a timid little girl. “Why are we in the kitchen?”

“We are heading to the common room,” she replied handing the young girl the torch. “Chocolate occumbo,” she said with a wave of her hand in front of a still life portrait of a fruit bowl. “May I have that back please?” she asked turning to the girl. She then used the torch to set fire to a candle that then ignited a row of candles guiding the pathway to the common room.

“Welcome to Hufflepuff!”

“Alright lions, gather around,” Godric smiled waving his arms and summoning several crimson sofas and chairs for the students to sit in.

Nodding to each of them as they took a seat, Godric adjusted his robes and attempted to tame his wild mane of hair. “I am about to teach you perhaps the most important thing you will ever learn at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry,” he said with a grin on his face. The students leaned forward in anticipation for their Head of House’s announcement. “Today, you are all going to learn how to do Gryffindor lion roar!”

●○50. Boggart○●

Rowena lead her students through the various corridors holding her wand up high to light the way using Lumos Maxima. “Hurry along now,” she giggled thinking of all the young minds waiting to be molding following her.

Suddenly, a girl appeared from the shadows, a figure that made Rowena freeze as if Immobulus had been cast on her. She had seen the girl before, but only in a vision. In the girl’s hand was the very diadem she wore on her head. She did not look well, rather, she looked as though she were at Death’s doorstep.

“Riddikulus!” Rowena commanded.

●○9. Defense Against the Dark Arts○●

“P-P-Professor,” squeaked a little boy as the doll walked away and vanished into the shadows once more. “W-W-W-What was that?”

“That, Mister Morris,” Rowena said turning to face the students. “…was a Boggart.” She supposed Godric would be covering them soon in class, but no sense in denying young minds information when they asked for it. “They are a shape-shifting creature that takes on the form of the viewer's worst fear.”

“Professor, does that mean you are afraid of that girl?” another student asked.

“Keep your fears to yourself but share your courage with others, Miss Hawking,” she replied nodding.

“I am not your baby sitter and do not intend to become one,” Salazar snapped pacing the Slytherin common room as he ran his hand against the stone wall with his right hand. “You all should take comfort in that fact.”

The students remained silent as they watched him pace a few more steps.

“I say that because as witches and wizards of pureblood decent, you do not need someone to play that role. You all have the answers you are looking for already. Any questions?”

A small pale boy raised his hand.

“Master Gaunt?”

“W-W-Where is the bathroom?”

*Stare*

●○84. Angry ○●

“Well, I believe congratulations are in order,” Godric beamed at his friends handing them each a goblet of the finest Firewhiskey in all of Europe. “I do believe that our first day went over well.”

“Yes, and the children are all so excited to learn,” Rowena smile taking a sip from her goblet.

“I…think I am going to drink mine in my room,” Helga said winking at the two before grabbing onto Salazar’s arm. “Didn’t you say you had something to take care of?”

Salazar hissed at Helga’s touch and pushed her away before leaving the room. Shrugging, Helga followed.

●○8. Potions○●

He had put up with it long enough – his best friend getting all the limelight. Was it the hair? Or perhaps it was his sparkling personality that got the lion everything that he desired. Say for this. If nothing else, Salazar was sure to get his way. Laughing to himself as he shoved a few potions ingredients into his pocket, he made his way back to his secret chamber where his pet lay waiting for him.

“Away,” he hissed summoning his cauldron and crushing some ashwinder eggs in his bare hands. The contents turned a vivid pink and Salazar grinned.

●○61. Kiss○●

Godric felt like a little boy and not the strapping man of 25 that he was. Gently, he rested his strong hands on Rowena’s shoulders. “I, erm, I’m not very good at these sorts of things,” he mumbled looking at the ground.

Godric felt his heart melt looking into her dark eyes and felt like he was touching eternity. Her pale skin glowed in the pale moonlight making her already natural beauty something that even Aphrodite would be jealous of. Not wanting to waste another moment, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her and felt the heavens part.

●○35. Pureblood○●

Helga sat on one of the stone benches sipping her firewhiskey in peace when she heard footsteps approaching. Setting her goblet down, she rose and tightened her shawl around her shoulders. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Salazar appear but her eyes flew to a small flask in his hands.

“What are you doing? Shouldn’t you be back at your house’s common room?”

“Do not talk to me you filthy blood traitor,” he hissed shoving her aside. “I need to speak with Rowena.”

“Just because I don’t share your pureblood obsession does not make me a traitor!”

●○21. Veela○●

Rowena twirled her Veela hair core wand in her fingers for a few moment before setting it down on its stand and falling backwards onto her bed. Rolling over on her side, she grabbed a pillow and squealed into it. “He kissed me, Ebony!” she squealed again looking at her owl. “He finally did it.”

She rolled onto her back and looked up at the cerulean canopy with embroidered gold stars that hung above her bed. A silvery glowing shape appeared by her doorway and took the form of a great serpent.

“I must speak with you,” Salazar’s voice echoed.

●○69. Slap○●

Rowena made her way down to the dungeons feeling as agitated as a Hungarian Horntail on Sunday. She had no desire to see Salazar at any time of the day, let alone the middle of the night. Now at his door, she reached out to knock on it, but it swung open before she could do so. Salazar didn’t waste any time and grabbed her by the wrist, pulled her forward, and devoured her lips with his own. Rowena bit down hard on his lip, pushed him, and slapped him across the face.

“Repulsive!” she spat. “Stay away from me!”

●○77. Cheerful○●

Helga tried not to laugh too hard as Godric frolicked around her office like a love struck puppy, jumping on chairs, twirling across the window, and once even leaped across her desk.

“It was amazing, Helga, I think I love her!” he sang feeling more like a spring kitten than a lion.

Helga covered her pink lips with her hand as she giggled and winced at the pain in her arm from where Salazar had grabbed her earlier and shoved her into the wall.

“I’m happy for you,” she smiled turning her gaze away. Salazar wouldn’t be happy about this.

Having finished his evening tea with Helga, Godric continued to skip through the castle until he returned to the Gryffindor common room. Smiling at all his little lions who were chirping away discussing what they thought classes would be like the next day, Godric clapped his hands together loudly to get their attention.

“Lions, I want you all to embrace what it means to be in Gryffindor,” he smiled being sure to make eye contact with each student individually. “I mean this in all aspects of your life! Be daring! But always remember this, all serious daring starts from within!”

●○96. Socks○●

Awaking the next morning after having nothing but blissful dreams about himself and Rowena dancing in a field of daisies, Godric jumped out of bed ready to seize the day and teach the young minds that would be filling his Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom soon.

Heading over to his large wooden dresser, Godric opened the top drawer, and immediately felt like heading straight back to bed with his lion’s tail between his legs. His lesson today demanded that everyone wear shorts for mobility purposes, and he did not have a single pair of matching sock.

“Fantastic,” he groaned.

●○2. Muggle Studies○●

Salazar sat at the head table with elbows resting on it and his hands folding together in malcontent as he watched the students. His train of thought was interrupted when a young Hufflepuff boy approached him holding some ghastly looking thing. Salazar raised his eyebrow and looked at the boy.

“Professor Slytherin, I-I heard that you fancy snakes…so I brought you an instrument Muggles use to train them to perform.”

Salazar glared at the flute and snapped it in half with a nonverbal spell. “I have no interesting in learning about Muggle things,” Salazar hissed wanting to hex the boy.

Frowning that she had not been assigned to teach either Charms or Transfiguration, Helga put on the brightest smile she could as could as students filed into the greenhouse and took their seats. Setting several potted tree saplings out on the tables, she instructed them to each take one. “These saplings are still very young and take centuries to mature,” she chirped picking up the one nearest to her. “Your task today is to prune them but..,” she moved her head to avoid the plant’s limbs striking her face. “…be careful unless you want to get whomped across the face.”

As Rowena walked around her classroom observing the students as they took the written part of their Arithmancy exam, she couldn’t help but be amazed at how quickly time was going by. Already two months into their first term and things were going almost perfectly. Almost.

Her head snapped around when she saw a Ravenclaw girl licking her quill. “Miss Reaney, what in Merlin’s beard are you doing? Your quill is for writing purposes only!”

“Professor Ravenclaw!” she squeaed. “It’s a spell. I-I transfigured it into spun-sugar…”

“I’ll be taking that,” Rowena said. Ingenious. Why hadn’t she thought of it?

Godric stood in the front of the classroom with a rather complicated diagram of a wizard turning into a dog and the words Animagus written in fancy calligraphy. “An animagus,” he said turning his attention to the class. “Is a witch or wizard that freely chooses to turn into the form of an animal.” He flicked his wand to enchant the chalk to write itself as he spoke. “This is, of course, different from werewolves. Animagi can take many forms depending on the wizard. I know, from personal experience, of a wizard who takes the form of a giant squid.”

Salazar looked down at the list of students who had signed up for History of Magic with the frown on his face turning into a scowl as none of the prominent pureblood families seemed to be present. Just how were those students going to learn their full potential if they didn’t attend the classes that matter? He raised his eyes to look at the class. Why was he stuck with all the muggleborns while Godric got all the purebloods waving their wands around?

“Ford…Angelina?” he called reading one of the names from the list.

“It’s Anglia, sir,” she responded timidly.
