1. Herbology

The blonde Malfoy drummed her fingers against the Herbology table anxiously as she glanced at her watch. She couldn't wait for this class to be over. It was excruciating. Watching the hands of her watch move in slow motion just made her tap faster and louder. Please, be over, thought Emma as she frowned and continued tapping. The blonde wanted to be anywhere but in this class.

“Miss Malfoy! Pay attention and stop that drumming NOW. That is the warning before I take ten points away from Slytherin,” warned the Professor. Emma sighed and nodded. What else could she do?

82. Careful

Mini-Challenge #22

It had been a strange week for Emma and her friends. The girls bathroom sinks had been filled with rubber ducks and Selena had received another howler. They ran into a bunch of older students. "For one of the challenges, dragons try to eat you. Don’t even try to use a Bat-Bogey hex on them ladies.”

"Dragons?" asked Selena.

"Yeah, huge things that could burn you to a crisp."

"We know what dragons are. We're second years not idiots.” Emma laughed.

"Piece of candy?”

“No thank you. We don’t want canary creams,” replied Selena. And with that, they walked away.

23. Telescope

Selena said it was urgent. Dianna needed them.

Emma ran as fast as she could from Quidditch practice (she left early from Quidditch which was a big thing) to meet her cousin and friend in the library. She stealthily made it pass the librarian and found her two friends. They had a telescope set up on a desk and were giggling as they looked through it.

“What’s up?” she asked them with brows furrowed.

“Emma! Come check out bachelor number one for Dianna,” exclaimed Selena.

The blonde rolled her eyes and took a seat. The matchmaker was in the house.

65. Ooze

Alex and Emma were having a competition in a Potions workshop.

Emma smirked. “May the best potion win.”

“Oh you’re on, partner!” exclaimed Alex as he made a mad dive towards the ingredients cabinet, blocking Emma out of the way. He cackled evilly. He was going to win. Meanwhile Emma used the Summoning charm and her ingredients floated on towards her.

After mixing up their ingredients and preparing the potion, they waited for the potion to simmer. They looked pretty even. Then all of a sudden, Alex’s potion jump up and exploded all over Emma and Alex.

“Run!” whispered Alex.

59. Ignore

“Emma Astoria Malfoy, why haven’t you replied to my note yet?” whispered Alex across the Slytherin House Table during a study hall.

“Perhaps she’s really busy,” offered Fee sympathetically.

Alex scoffed. “She’s not busy. She’s working on History of Magic homework.”

“It’s something that you should be doing, Allen,” added Selena.

“It’s Alex.” He frowned and looked at his homework.

“Allen. Alex. Aidan. Whatever. It’s the same.”

“Em….”

“Perhaps she’s just ignoring you. You probably deserve it.”

“Selena!” said Alex and Emma at the same time. Emma blushed.

“Works every time,” muttered Selena as she and Fee shared a laugh.

95. Snowball

Snowman Mini-Challenge

With snowballs either hand, Emma and Alice carefully snuck up behind Selena, their friend, who was building a snowman. Selena seemed to be in her own world so they thought this would be an easy task. “Surprise!” they yelled as they threw a couple of snowballs at Selena.

Selena turned around and smirked at them. She stepped away from the snowman to show that she had been hiding a pile of snowballs. Oh dear Merlin, thought Emma. With her wand in hand, Selena made the snowballs fly towards them.

“Run Alice! Before we all become snowmen!”

“Don’t you mean…”

“Run!”

36. Muggle

Her father had his arms folded across his chest. “Braeden’s a muggleborn. His parents are muggles. You're a pureblood. You can’t marry one of them.”

“One of what? Muggles aren’t bad.” Emma’s eyes widened and she got up from the table. “Really dad? Really? You’re going to bring up this? We don’t live in the sixteenth century or something anymore. We’re all the same. Pureblood, halfblood, muggleborn, and whatnot. All the same.” With that, she stormed out of the house.

How could he have said that to her?

“Nice job, baby sister,” said Draco who hugged her before she left.

93. Chicken

With two cups of chicken soup, Emma and Ellie enjoyed the sunset at a local café. They caught up and reminisced about their lives. “Remember the time that you and I fought over Alex?” said Ellie.

“Oh Merlin. That was so bad.” Emma cringed.

“We were so young.”

“Such silly chickens.”

Ellie laughed and nodded. “You know, I always thought that you and Alex would have been better off.”

“I thought the opposite. I’m glad we found the boys we have today.” Emma took a sip of her tea. “I can’t believe that you’re married.”

“That makes two of us!”

31. Dress Robes

Dress robes were in need for the important fancy dinner tonight. Well at least for the men. As Emma finished zipping up her slim black dress and fixing her make up, she heard a knock on her door. “Coming!” she replied and ran to the door. Opening it, she found Braeden standing there all dressed up. She grinned. “Those are nice dress robes.”

“Yeah, Ellie and your brother helped,” said Braeden with a goofy grin.

“My brother?”

“Oh yeah, apparently he likes me now.”

“Huh, looks like you don’t need any of my help with charming my family.” She winked.

66. Pace

Today was the big day. Today was the interview with the Ministry. Dressed in a nice charcoal suit, Emma paced back and forth in the living room of the flat. Selena watched her.

"Hi, I'm Emma!" she said with a big smile. Her shoulders slumped. "No, that was too cheery. More serious, Emma." She paused and took a deep breath. "Hello! I'm Emma." She turned around to face Selena. "Was that better?"

Selena nodded and gave her friend a thumbs up. "You sounded better. But more sass.”

“More sass? How?”

“Yeah, people love sass. Do it like this.” Selena demonstrated.

26. Quill

"Psst, Em, can I borrow a quill?" asked Alex.

“Uh sure.” Emma fished into her bag and started looking for a quill. Before she knew it, Selena had handed her a quill.

“Em.. Give this to Allen!”

“Thanks but it's Alex.” She passed Selena’s quill to Alexbear.

“Allen, Alex, Allie. Whatever. Same thing.”

“Thanks. I appreciate it,” said Alex as he began scribbling down notes. Selena couldn’t keep her eyes of Alex. She watched patiently.

All of a sudden Emma felt a pit form in her stomach. Selena had done something to the pen hadn’t she?

SPLAT!

The pen exploded.

21. Veela

Dressed up in a beautiful floral dress, Emma headed up the beautiful make-shift aisle that her dear friend, Ellie, would be walking up in a matter of moments. She couldn’t believe that Ellie and Dallin were getting married. She wasn’t sure if she was ready for marriage yet.

She glanced about the rows looking for Braeden and found him sitting on the third row to the right. Making her way over to him, she beamed. “Hey!” she called out.

He turned around and his eyes widened. “Em-Em-Emma. You look more beautiful than a Veela.”

“Is that possible?”

“Now it is!”

34. Parsletongue

Selena snuck up behind Nikolas and Emma one day with a smirk on her face. “Hissssssssssss,” she whispered.

They both jumped. “What’s she up to today? Trying to speak parsletongue?”

Emma shrugged. “I think she’s impersonating her cousin.”

Selena jumped up and pretended as if she was holding a fake microphone.“Ding! Ding! Ding! Emma wins the game of Selena jeproady. How do you feel about this all?”

“Overwhelmed.”

“As you should be this is a HUGE event.”

“It doesn’t happen every day?” asked Nikolas.

“Exactly. And there you have it, I’m Selena Zabini-Riddle with the Hogwarts Post. Signing off now.”

22. Kneazle

Mini-Challenge: Halloween

“Sel, why do you want to be a Kneazle for Hallowen?” she asked once again, trying to figure out what her friend was thinking. The two of them were walking outside the castle.

“Kneazles are awesome, Emma. They’re strong and independent and extremely intelligent,” offered Selena. “Ooh! You should go as a Kneazle too. We could easily take over the world as Kneazles.”

“As Kneazles? Sel, who would take us seriously?”

Selena laughed. “Oh Emma, it’ll be fun. Just wait. We’ll be intimidating.”

“Everyone will call us adorable.”

“Exactly and they’ll be eating out of the palms of our hands.”

29. Pensieve

One holiday, Dianna and Emma snuck into their grandfather’s walk-in closet when he wasn’t looking. “This way!” called Emma to her cousin.

“Em, I don’t think we should be here.”

“It’s fine. No one will notice. Besides we can hide if necessary.”

The two girls jumped when they heard the wall move to one side, showing a secret passageway ahead. “Woah,” they both said as they entered. After walking down the passageway, they found a peculiar object in front of them with a pool of water at the top.

“What is that?” asked Emma.

“I think it’s a pensive.”

"Cool."

55. Egg on

"Come on, Emma. If you just go into the Divination classroom and touch a magical crystal ball, I'll give you three chocolate frogs," said Alex as he folded his arms.

Emma bit in response. She didn't want to get a detention. So far she had a perfect detention-free record. Seriously, she had a reputation to uphold. “Uh, I’m not too sure if I want to do that, Alex. Detention-free since first year.” Emma grinned proudly.

“I’ll go with you and you can have two chocolate frogs.” He sighed.

“Make that three chocolate frogs!”

Alex laughed. “Fine. Then we’ll play Quidditch.”

30. Feast

Alfredore (the ship) belongs to Mel Oh El and Ruthie <3

It was the last feast of term during her fourth year when Emma decided to go over to see Braeden at the Gryffindor House Table. As she walked away from the table, she felt as if it was a mistake to even go over there in the first place. Braeden and Ruby had both been super sheepish about the whole situation which just made the she-Snake feel incredibly uncomfortable and suspicious. Emma wasn’t the jealous type of girl. She took a deep breath.

“Emma!” called Alfie and Theo over at the Ravenclaw table. She went to go sit with Alfredore.

27. Owl

“Hoot, Hoot, Hoot,” said Emma to the owl that sat on a tree branch just by the treehouse.

With eyebrows raised, Selena came over. “Em, what are you doing?”

“Trying to talk to this owl. He’s not being very polite.” She pouted.

“Hmm.. Here let me help. I think you need to flap your arms more.” She paused and then started flapping her arms. “Hoot. Hoot. Emma, come on!”

Giggling, Emma started flapping her arms too. “Hoot! Hoot. Hoot.”

The owl cocked its head to the side at the two strange girls trying to communicate with it....Humans were weird.

46. Dungeon

“I’ll throw him into the dungeons once he gets here!” yelled her father.

Emma gaped. “Dad, they’re not dungeons anymore. Grandfather had them converted into numerous wine cellars. And you’re not throwing my boyfriend into the dungeons.” No one was going to get thrown into anything without her say. They were her friends and her father was clearly overreacting.

“Calm down, he’s a lovely young man,” said Emma’s mother who was fixing up her blush. “You ought to be on your best behaviour tonight.”

Emma beamed and thanked her mother quietly.

SCORE. Braeden had won over one of her parents.

24. House Elf

Ollie, short for Ollivander, had passed away. He had been one of the many house-elves that the Malfoy’s employed. He had been Emma’s favourite and had been her closest friend when she was little. Ollie had helped Braeden out immensely when he and Ellie stayed over the summer for a couple weeks.

Emma opened the door to her father’s study and found the man looking at paper’s. “Father, he deserves a proper burial. He was a friend,” she said.

“He was a house elf.” Her father looked distraught.

“He was your friend too though,” observed Emma.

Her father glanced away.

99. Newspaper

Emma embraced her friend. It had been years since she had seen Ellie in person. They had both been busy. Ellie had her hands filled with three kids and Emma had been occupied with work. "This is really nice, Em."

"Thanks, El. Do your kids want a hot chocolate?”

"Oh, you're spoiling them," said Ellie as she flicked through a newspaper.

"That's my job. I'm the cool honourary aunt."

"When can I be the honorary aunt?"

Emma blinked. "I don't know."

"Come on, when are you and Brae getting hitched?"

Braeden and her hadn’t spoken about it. "I don't know…Soonish?"

41. Thestrals

Thestrals were those winged horses with reptilian faces and leathery wings. Emma Malfoy had never seen one before the winter of her sixth year. Every time that she saw one after her mother’s death, she was always reminded of a particular memory.

In that memory, she had been reading Alice In Wonderland to her mother when her mother spoke up and interrupted Emma’s storytelling. “Emma, darling, I’m so very proud of you. I don’t care what you choose to do in your life as long as you value you and are happy.” Tears were in her eyes. “I love you.”

37. Animagus

The ten year old leaned over her brother’s shoulder as he did some pre-reading for his final year at Hogwarts. “Draco? What’s an animagus?”

“It’s a witch or wizard who can transform themselves into animals,” explained her older brother.

“If you could do that, what would you be?”

“An eagle so I can always soar. And you?”

Emma paused. “I don’t know. Maybe a cat or something.” She paused again and her hazel eyes widened with excitement. “Or maybe I could be like Sirius Black!”

Draco glared at his sister. “Don’t ever speak that name in front of great grandfather.”

39. Duel

“En guard!” said Nikolas as he jumped out at Emma, trying his best to scare her. He held a green plastic sword thing that made noises in his hand.

She raised her eyebrows at him. “Uh, Nik? What are you doing?” she asked her partner as she tried to decipher whether this was a new secret partner code for pranking someone or whatnot. “And what do you have there?”

“This?” he asked, lifting it up. “It’s a lightsaber. I have one for you too. It’s not green though.” He handed her a blue one. “I challenge you to a duel!”

40. Spell

“For all I know, Emma, you probably have me under a spell or something,” teased Braeden, her brave and adorkable Gryffindor boyfriend, as they danced the night away on their tenth year anniversary. The blonde laughed, shaking her head.

“For all we know, it could be the other way around. I was the one that did mess up the first dance we ever danced,” she chuckled.

Braeden raised his eyebrows playfully at her as he spun her in a circle. “I’ll forever be glad that you allowed me to catch you.”

She rolled her eyes at him. “Crawler!” she teased.

42. Portraits

Emma hated sitting still. The fifteen year old had so many things that she wanted to accomplish: Quidditch, pre-reading, writing letters to her friends, planning to take over the universe, going to Selena’s house, and eating candy. It was a hectic schedule and Emma didn’t have time to sit still for a portrait. She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear as quickly as she could. The blonde hoped that her mother hadn’t witnessed that.

But she had. "Emma Astoria Malfoy, will you please stop fidgeting? The painter’s trying his hardest to paint you properly,” exclaimed her mother.
