Hiya

I'm FireboltAvis88 aka Alyssa Potter or Pearl in RL. This is my first venture into the 100 drabbles, so I hope that I don't embarrass myself here too much. My problem will be trying to keep my drabbles down to 100 words. For those who've seen my posts will know that it's going to be a tough feat, but I'm determined to see whether I can do this. So here goes.

25. Sorting Hat

This was it. The Sorting Hat. Even though Alyssa was coming in as a Second Term student, this would be her first time getting sorted by the Sorting Hat. She was anxious to know which house she would end up in. 'Please let it either be Gryffindor or Hufflepuff' Alyssa thought to herself. 'At least it will either be Dad's or Grandma's house.'

The Hat was placed on her head and Alyssa closed her eyes and prayed. Then the magical words were spoken.

HUFFLEPUFF

Alyssa breathed a sigh of relief, jumped off the stool and joined her fellow housemates.

66. PACE

"Oh No! Oh No!...there's so many of them to find and so little time to find them all. I'm going to be late." Alyssa told her mother

"I'm late, I'm late for a very important date." Alex sang aloud teasing her.

"I'm not late.. where have they hidden them?" Alyssa frowned.

"Alyssa, you need to pace yourself. You still have time." Her mother advised her.

"But there isn't. Look at how many I've found so far. Only three. I need to find more before they're all gone."

"But Alyssa they're only Easter eggs, you can't eat all of them."

67. QUELL

"Rumble" was the sound Alyssa heard. "Shhh..you need to be quiet right now."she whispered to it. "Rumble" she heard the sound again.

"Awww...come on. I've already fed you, so stop making noises right now. I'll feed you later." Alyssa whispered to it. There was a moment of silence and Alyssa breathed a sigh of relief. She needed to concentrate and all that noise making was distracting her but she knew that she had to find a way to quell the sounds.

Searching inside her bag, she found a carrot. Alyssa ate it and her stomach stopped growling.

68. ROAR

Little Alyssa was reading the History of Magic book when she discovered that the mascots of the Houses in Hogwarts were a lion, a snake, a badger and an eagle.

Just for her own amusement, she started mimicking the sounds of the animals. "HISSSSSS.....KEEEEEAAAAHHHH....ROAR....ROAR....ROA R..."

"Alyssa what are you doing?" her sister Claudia asked.

"I'm making the sounds of the House mascots of Hogwarts. They're a nake, an eagle, a lion and a badger."

"A hiss, a screech and a roar. Why are you stuck on the roar?"

"Because I don't know what sound a badger makes."

69. SLAP

Alyssa came running into the living room holding her finger. "Merlin this hurts!"

"What happened to your hand?" her brother, Sirius, asked.

"I slammed it in the drawer." Alyssa sucked on her finger.

"Oh stop being a baby. It can't hurt that much. You just slammed it. You didn't break it."

"Well it still hurts. You must know a spell to take away the pain?"

"Yes I do." Sirius slapped her hard on the cheek.

"Ow! why did you slap my cheek? Now that hurts." Alyssa rubbed her cheek.

"Well at least you've forgotten about your finger now. Problem solved."

71. UNTIE

"Hey Cody could you help me practice some of my spells that I leaned this term." Alyssa asked her sister.

"Uh...sure as long as it is not going to hurt." Cody agreed

"I'm just practicing the rope binding spell, Incarcerous." Alyssa assured her sister.

"Okay, go for it then."

Alyssa pointed her wand and said, "Incarcerous" and watched as ropes flew out from her wand and wound themselves around Cody.

"That's good. Now untie me."

Alyssa was about to do that when she heard her mother call for her.. "I'm coming Mom" as she ran away.

"HEY UNTIE ME!!"

72. VEX

Alyssa tried to concentrate on what she was doing but her siblings were making so much noise outside in the backyard that it vexed her.

"Hey you guys can you pipe down! I'm trying to get this thing done before our parents get home." she called out.

"Why don't you come out and join us, Lyssie."

"I can't. But the noise you're making is vexing me."

"We didn't hex you!!" Sirius answered back.

"I didn't say hex, I said vex." Alyssa shouted back.

"Well whatever you're doing isn't worth you being hexed."

"I said vex...and you're vexing me now!!"

76. ZAP

Alyssa watched as both her brothers dueled each other in their backyard. She looked forward to the day when she could cast spells with having to worry about getting arrested for breaking the law.

But for now, it was just exciting to see the spells each of her siblings cast at each other. Alyssa walked nearer to them as the duel got heated and spells came flying out of their wands faster and swifter.

Then suddenly Alyssa felt herself falling on to the ground. Her legs were frozen.

"Uh guys I think one of you missed and zapped me instead."

77. CHEERFUL

Alyssa was smiling and humming to herself as she walked into the kitchen.

"Someone is very cheerful today."her mother smiled at her.

Alyssa stretched out her arms and sang, "Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day."

"Yes you are definitely cheerful today. What's going on, Alyssa?"

"Remember that time when Sirius used the Sticking Charm on my hair brush?"

"Yes I do. It took ages to get your hair to disentangle from the brush."

"ALYSSA!! WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE TOILET SEAT!!" Sirius yelled from upstairs.

"Well Mom. I got him back today." Alyssa grinned.

81. DEPRESSION

Alyssa sighed and sadly shook her head while looking out the window of her home.

"Alyssa you need to stop moping. Your depression is making me depressed too."her mother told her.

"I can't help it. I want to go out and the rain won't stop."

"Well that's nothing anyone of us can do about that. That's Mother Nature."

"Well Mother Nature needs to be better natured and bring back the sun."

"Can't you find something to do indoors?" her mother asked.

"Can't you use the the Meteolojinx Recanto spell to stop the rain?"

"Alyssa, no one jinxed this weather!!"

82. CAREFUL

"Careful...be careful....move it a little to the left...no it's too much to the left right now. Move it to the right."

"Alyssa will you make up your mind and decide where you want these to go. These are not exactly light you know." Alex told her.

"I know. Just be careful and don't drop them. Alex, a little more to the right. You've almost got it."

"Hurry up or I WILL drop them, Alyssa."

"Alright, you can put them down here."

"Finally!! Alyssa, next time to move a stack of books, just use the Levitation Charm yourself."

83. FEARFUL

"Alyssa I am fearful for you. You keep tempting fate. One day what you are doing is going to backfire and you are going to get into a lot of trouble." Cody told her twin.

"Claudia, don't worry. I don't do things without planning out what I want to do first."

"I know but this is really risky. You've never done this before."

"Well there's always a first time. Don't worry. I'll be fine."

"You know that if anything happens, Mom is going to kill you."

"Cody! All I'm doing is hanging up this picture. It really isn't that hard."

84. ANGRY

"Alyssa will you stop doing that. You're beginning to irritate me and you know what happens when I get irritated. I get angry."Hermione told her youngest sibling.

"All I am doing is singing."

"Yes but you've been singing the same song for the last half hour. Can't you sing another song?"

Alyssa sighed, "Okay." Then with a sneaky grin, she sang.

"In touch with the ground, I'm on the hunt I'm after you, Smell like I sound I'm lost in a crowd, And I'm angry like Hermione." and quickly ducked her head as a book came flying at her.

86. DARING

Alyssa looked up at the tree and shook her head. "You've got to be kidding me. I'm not going to climb that. I'll most likely fall and break my leg."

"Aw come on. If we want to build a treehouse, we have get up there." Aaron told her.

"But why this tree?"

"Because this one is the tallest in the whole of Hogwarts. Don't tell me you're scared?"

"I'm not scared. Just not stupid."

"I think that you're scared!!"

"You want to see how daring I am? Watch this!!" Alyssa put one foot up and began climbing the Whomping Willow.

87. STAIRCASE

"Wow! How many staircases did you say this place has again?" Alyssa asked Kita.

"A total of 142."

"Did you actually count every single one of them?" Alyssa asked as she watcbed some of the staircases move from one place another.

"No I didn't but it is recorded in history."

"But how do you know that the person didn't miscount? I mean look at them, they keep moving all the time. The person could have counted the same one twice."

"I'm going to try counting them. One....two...three...wait did I just count that one? See what I mean?"

89. PAST

Sirius woke up abruptly to find a bright light shining right into his eyes. He tried to see but his vision was obscured. All he heard was groans coming from the foot of his bed.

"Who's there?" he called out trying to find his wand holster.

"It's the Ghost of Your Christmas Past." was the reply.

"What? Why are you here?"

"You have to make amends to your sister, Alyssa before it's too late. You must be nicer to her. Stop playing tricks on her. Give her lots of candy."

"Yes...yes...wait a minute. Candy? Alyssa is that you?"

90. PRESENT

Alyssa looked around her, savoring every precious minute that she had left in Hogwarts. A year from now she would be graduating and headed off to who knows what. Hopefully training to be an Auror, or in college, studying Wizarding and Muggle Law just like her mother had done.

Alyssa climbed to the top of the hill. She was going to miss this place, but she still had time. Today was the present and Alyssa wanted to express her feelings. So opening her mouth, she yelled out her best Robin Williams impersonation,"CARPE DIEM! SIEZE THE DAY!! GOOOOODDDD MOOOOORRRNNNIIINNNGGG HOOOOGGGGWWAAARRTTTSS!!"

91. FUTURE

Alyssa's mother walked into Alyssa's bedroom and caught Alyssa staring out the window. She looked a little sad.

"Is something bothering you, Alyssa?"

Alyssa sighed. "I just realized that in a year from now, I'll be graduating from Hogwarts. I'm kind of excited but scared at the same time. I know what I want to do with my life but I'm afraid that I might fail."

"Well Alyssa, you'll never know unless you try. Remember Que Sera Sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future is ours to see."

"Wow, whoever came up with that saying must have studied Divination."

93. CHICKEN

"Hey Alex have you heard the joke about why the chicken crossed the road?" Alyssa asked her eldest brother.

"To get to the other side?"

"Oh so you've heard that one. Okay...how about the question? Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?"

"Yep and I don't know the answer to that one."

"Okay...so how about why don't chickens play sports?"

"Because they hit fowl balls." Alex replied.

"Seriously what chicken joke or question haven't you heard?"

"Seriously what's with all the chicken questions?"

"Because this drabble is about chickens which means I have to talk about them."

94. ALLERGIC

Melissa heard Alyssa sneezing and so she went to see what was wrong.

"Alyssa are you okay? Are you coming down with a cold?"

"No Mom. I don't feel feverish or sick."

"Then why are you sneezing so much?"

"Maybe it is the dust in this room."

"Alyssa, you are supposed to dust your room everyday." Melissa admonished her daughter.

"I did...I mean I do, Mom." Alyssa told a white lie.

"Well then it isn't dust. When did it start?"

"The moment I started studying. Oh wait, I know the reason. I must be allergic to studying." Alyssa grinned.

97. DICTIONARY

"Hey Hermione what is the meaning of Innocuous?" Alyssa asked her sister.

"I think that it means harmless or not likely to offend." was the reply.

"Okay good. What about Ignoramus?"

"It's someone who is ignorant or stupid."

"Okay I definitely can't use that one. Uh....What about Magnanimous?" Alyssa asked looking up from her journal.

"I think it means that the person is very generous or forgiving to someone. Why are you asking all these questions, Alyssa? You do know where the dictionary is."

"Yes I do, but it's lots easier to ask you, my innocuous, magnanimous walking dictionary."

100. HOMEWORK

Alyssa frowned looking at the stacks of parchments in front of her.

"Homework and more homework. Haven't the Professors learned that there is more to life in school than giving us so much?" Alyssa asked her mother.

"Alyssa, homework is good for you. It helps you remember what you learned in school plus it also lets the Professor know whether you learned anything while they were teaching the lesson." her mother explained.

"Why can't they just ask us instead of making us write it all down?"

"Because...they like reading?"

"Nice try Mom, but you get no points for that."

98. PAJAMAS

"What are you doing, Alyssa?" Melissa asked her daughter as she walked in and found clothes strewn all over the bedroom.

"Hi Mom, I'm looking for something."

"That is obvious. What are you looking for? Maybe I can help look for it."

"It''s my pair of pajamas."

"Alyssa you have lots of pajamas. Which ones are you looking for?"

"The ones that has the Gryffindor mascot on it."

"Alyssa, those are your Dad's."

"I know but the bottoms are comfortable."

"You can't be wearing Dad's bottoms." Cody told her as she walked in.

"Why not, you're still wearing his top?"

99. TRUNK

Alyssa placed her books into her trunk before walking to the drawers where she kept her clothes and removed them. This would be the last time she would be doing this in the Hufflepuff Girls Dormitory. Kneeling down she placed her clothes in the trunk before getting up and sitting on her bed.

Soon she would be dragging that trunk down to the ground floor, into the carriage, then onto the Hogwarts train and then one final time out of Platform 9 3/4. At least she would always have her memories and they were all good ones.

"Goodbye Hogwarts."

79. AUTHOR'S CHOICE - TICK TOCK

Tick tock. The hand moved and another minute had passed. Alyssa sighed as she looked at the clock. Time passes so fast when you didn't want it to, and Alyssa definitely didn't want it to. But time wasn't going to stop just for her. Soon she would be leaving Hogwart's gates for the last time as a student. When she came back the next time, it would be as a visitor.

Yes, sometimes it was difficult to be away from her real family, but Alyssa considered some of her friends in Hogwarts as family. She didn't want to say goodbye.

80. AUTHOR'S CHOICE - FAREWELL

Alyssa immediately turned around as she walked past the Hogwarts gates along with the other Seventh Year students as they headed towards the carriages. She would definitely miss the school, the staff, but most important of all, her friends. Some would be graduating with her, but some of them still had a few more years before they did..

Alyssa would miss her Quidditch team mates especially the team's Seeker, Alec Summers. The boy had become really special to her. He was like the little brother she never had. She would miss seeing him flipping his hair. Goodbye Alec, Alyssa whispered.
