Alyssa looked at what she had lying in front of her on the table. "Ogham Staves. Each carved on twenty-five twigs from twenty five different trees." "The Elder Futhark Runes. All twenty four of them, each carved into twenty four wooden squares." "Carved by hand, using my Swiss Army Knife, and later stained with my blood to consecrate the ritual." "But why did you do that, Mom?" Savannah asked her mother. "For Ancient Runes, dear." Alyssa smiled at her daughter. Savannah frowned looking at the pieces of wood. "Well, Mom, Mr. Ancient sure runed forty nine good pieces of wood." |
"Okay hand it over. You owe me the house and five hundred dollars, Cody." Alyssa told her sister. "Well I'm not giving it to you and you can't make me." "Yes I can. Remember I've been trained to duel in my Defense Against the Dark Arts Class." "And so have I and I'm not giving up without a fight." "Just hand it over and we won't have to fight over it." "You won't fight me." "You give me no choice. Wands out!" "Geesh! Alyssa this is just a game of Monopoly. Here take your house and the fake money too." |
Alyssa finally reached the peak of the highest mountain on the Hogwarts Grounds. She loved the view from where she was standing. "Hmmm...I wonder if I yodel here, will I hear it echo back to me?" "Yodelayheehoo." Alyssa listened intently and sure enough she heard it echo back to her. "You are beautiful." and her words echoed back again. "I am the smartest witch in Hogwarts." she called out. "No I am the smartest witch in Hogwarts." was the reply. "Wha...?"Alyssa looked aeound and saw Kurumi hiding behind the trees laughing back at her. Alyssa blushed. "Hi Kurumi." |
"Double, double, toil and trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble, Double, double, toil and trouble, Fire burn and cauldron bubble." Alyssa said stirring the mixture in her cauldron. "Pass me the sugar, pass me the marshmallows. Mix it all in and the rest will follow." "Chocolate is next, and we all know that's the best." "Stir, stir the mix we go, our product soon we're ready to show." "Wait a minute. What are we making?" "Chocolate cauldron cakes." "But we didn't need to use your cauldron." "I know that. But I've always wanted to make something while chanting in rhyme." |
Alyssa looked up at the portrait before nodding. Spotting Kita standing on the ground floor, Alyssa called out to her. "Kita, can you be our judge?" "Sure." Kita asked. "Start us off." "READY.....STEADY....GO!!" Alyssa sprinted down the flight of stairs, 20 staircases down, Alyssa looked to her right and saw the boy run past her. Down another 40 staircases, Alyssa looked to her left but couldn't see anyone. Had he passed her or was he behind? Reaching the bottom, she asked. "Who won?" "Who were you racing against?" "The boy in the portrait. Did you see him first?" |
Ever since her Mother had returned to work in the Ministry of Magic, Alyssa kept hearing her talking to her father about someone called Lord Bore. "Lord Bore did this...Lord Bore did that....yada yada yada." Interested to know who this Lord Bore was, Alyssa picked up the morning's Daily Prophet, turned the pages and there he was making a speech. Alyssa listened but within a few minutes she started yawning. Then she saw that his last name was spelt with two Rs. "Nope. Its a typo error. Someone this boring, has to have a last name spelled Bore." |
Alyssa finished reading Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, put the book down and sat back in her chair, frowning. "Mom...do you remember the story Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?" Alyssa asked her mother. Her mother nodded noticing Alyssa's frown,"Yes I do, Alyssa. What's the matter?" "Well remember the other day, you were teaching me the difference between hexes, jinxes and charms?" "Yes I do but what has that go to do with the book?" "It's Prince Charming. Was he called that because he was good at casting Charms? Did he charm Snow White into liking him?" |
"If I could turn back time, If I could find a way, I'd take back those words that hurt you and you'd stay." seven year old Alyssa heard her mother sing. She frowned because she had heard her mother sing this song before. She pulled on her mother's dress and asked. "Mom why do you keep wishing that you could turn back time? Did you do something bad?" "No this is just a song that was popular back in the 1980's." "Well from the lyrics alone, whoever that song is about, I am sure would have liked having a Timeturner." |
Alyssa started unpacking her trunk and realized to her dismay when she looked inside. "I can't believe that I have so much stuff inside in my trunk. I mean I've only been in Hogwarts for 5 years. I can't have I collected so much junk in such a short time." Alyssa said to herself. She began pulling out books, shoes, boots, mismatched socks and more books. "Where did I get all this stuff?" She picked up a couple of books and realized that some of them had Cody's name on it. "Cody, my trunk is NOT your Room of Requirement". |
It was Christmas and Alyssa was determined to decorate this tree. She had dragged out the decorations: the various colored glass baubles, the different colored tinsel and the red ribbons. She was now ready for the task at hand. Looking up at the tree, Alyssa took out her wand and with a wave of her wand, she levitated the first bauble into place. "Will you keep still, I'm only putting up decorations, so that you will look nice and festive like the other trees here in Hogwarts." The Whomping Willow waved its heavy branch. It didn't want to look pretty. |
Alyssa ran around looking under everything, even the bed, but she couldn't find it anywhere. She started to panic. "This is a disaster. I can't have lost it. This one picked me. No one else. Just me and I lost it." she kept mumbling to herself as she searched anywhere that she hadn't searched yet. "Don't panic Alyssa. Where did you last use it?" her mother asked. "Well I was..."Alyssa said before she remembered. She reached up and pulled out her wand that was holding up her hair. "cleaning my holster and I needed a place to put it." |
Alyssa's brother apparated the both of them into Hogsmeade. "Let's go to Honeydukes. I want to get some candy," Alyssa suggested. But Sirius turned and walked in the opposite direction. "Hey where are you going? Honeydukes is this way." Alyssa called out to her brother as she ran after him, catching up with him at the Shrieking Shack. She looked at it before asking, "I wonder if anyone lives there now?" "Nah. It's been abandoned for a long time. Let's go back." Sirius said and they both walked away. From the shack, a pair of eyes watched them leave. |
Cody motioned Alyssa over. "Alyssa you see that blond girl over there? The one with all the guys grinning stupidly at her? Do you know her?" she asked. "Yep that's the new girl from Beauxbatons. I think her name is Cosette. Why do you want to know?" Alyssa told her sister. "We need to get her on our Quidditch team." Cody answered back. "You're kidding me. You don't know whether she knows how to play." "It doesn't matter. We need her. She's a Veela. If she plays Keeper, the guys will totally forget about scoring." Cody winked back at Alyssa. |
Alyssa watched as her mother carried in something furry and placed it on the floor. Alyssa ran to look at it. It had speckled fur, large ears and a tail that looked like a lion's. The creature purred and rubbed its body against her legs. "Mom, what kind of cat is this?" Alyssa asked her mother. "It's a Kneazle. It's special." her mother replied. Alyssa sat down next to it. "Kneel cat...Kneel." Alyssa tried to adjust its legs coaxing it to kneel. "What are you doing, Alyssa?" "You said it's a Kneezle. So it must know how to kneel." |
"Bring it over here, Cody." Alyssa told her sister motioning to where she wanted Cody to place the telescope. "Okay now it's time for me to adjust the lens. We want to make sure that we get it properly focussed and in the right position." Alyssa explained to Cody. "Alyssa I do know how to use a telescope. We do take Astronomy in Salem too." "Yes I know but what we're seeing tonight is something different. Okay look now." Alyssa grinned. "Alyssa, why are we looking inside Hermion's room?" Cody asked. "I want to see where she hides her candy." |
Alysssa finished reading about the house elves. Agreed, some of them actually loved what they were doing, but she couldn't understand why they didn't leave and do something else. "Mom, why do people still have house elves? I mean we are capable of doing the things elves do, so why do they make the house elves do it." "Alyssa, the house elves believe that it's their purpose in life. To serve their human owners." "Well I think that it's wrong. Someone should write to the Ministry about that." "Hermione Granger-Weasley did remember?" "Oh yeah. Well maybe they need reminding again." |
Alyssa walked into Scribbulus Ever Changing Inks. This shop had every possible quill, but she ignored them and she headed for the area where the pens and pencils were. Grabbing a few of both, Alyssa went up to pay for them. "Um....Alyssa, you forgot to pick up your quills and inks." Alyssa frowned. "But why do I need that when I have these pens and pencils?" "You have to use quills and ink at Hogwarts." "Great!! Now I will feel guilty every time I write." "Why, Alyssa?" "Because birds were hurt in the making of these quills." she pouted. |
Alyssa walked with her mother into Eeylops Owl Emporium. She was here to find a friend. One that would remain with her for the rest of her life...depending of course who lived longer. She walked around looking for the perfect one. She saw Barn, Tawny, Screech, Brown and Snowy Owls. They all looked beautiful, but she still hadn't found the one that she could call friend. Then she rounded a corner and saw the smallest of them all. A little Snowy Owl. Alyssa ran over to it and knew that she had found her friend. Polaris, her Snowy Owl. |
Alyssa had read that Dumbledore used a Pensieve to keep the memories that he had over the years. Then Alyssa thought to herself. "What if I didn't want to keep certain memories, could I just dump them out into the Pensieve?" "Mom can I get a Pensieve?" "Why would you want one?" "I have some memories I don't want to remember. Except for a total mind wipe, that's the only way I know how to get rid of them." "But some memories help you improve yourself." "Trust me Mom, these memories, you don't want me to keep."Alyssa grinned back. |
"Okay everyone here's your chores. Alex you make the pot pies. Sirius you're roasting the Turkey. Hermione you're making the mashed potatoes and sausages. Cody you make your roast ham. Alyssa you make dessert. Now go." Alyssa's mother told all five of them. Everyone rushed to do her bidding for there wasn't a minute to waste. "It's all done, Mom."Everyone chimed up at the same time. "Good just in time too. Everything is ready. Come sit at the table." Alyssa joined the rest at the family table. It was laden with everything anyone could want for a Christmas Feast. |
Alyssa fidgeted as her mother took it out of the box. "Alyssa, you're making it more difficult than it really should be." her mother frowned at her. "Mom, honestly, why do I need one? Why can't I just wear what I usually wear?" she asked. "Because what you usually wear is either jeans, shorts or a dress. You can't wear that." "But why not? People do it all the time?" "Yes they do, but not this time. I want you to look extra special. Now look in the mirror." Alyssa stood there wearing a beautiful shimmery, satin lilac dress robe. |
Alyssa remembered the first time that she entered the Hufflepuff House Common Room. She had just transferred from Salem's Institute to Hogwarts and had felt so alone. It seemed like everyone in the room knew each other. Even the first years didn't seem to have a problem settling in. Everyone except her. She felt so alone until two girls her age came up to her and introduced themselves. They were Penny Lovegood and Nessie Dixon. They made her feel at home and had even reserved a bed for her in the girl's dormitory. Alyssa would always be grateful to them. |
This was the first time that Alyssa would be attending Professor Romanos' DADA class. She had attended other classes in Hogwarts before and except for Muggle Studies, where Professor Cerulean made each class an enjoyable one, the other class rooms looked all the time same. Boring. Professor Romanos was the new DADA Professor and Alyssa didn't know what to expect from her. She was definitely surprised when she entered the DADA classroom. The Professor had the lights in the room dimmed. Candles were seen floating in mid air. There were no tables, just yoga mats. "Cool." Alyssa grinned to herself. ooc: No offense to the other Professors :D |
Alyssa's father found her whispering to something on the grass. "What are you doing, Alyssa?" he asked. "Shhh....Dad I'm trying to speak to it." eight year old Alyssa told her father. "Hashish....ish." Alyssa whispered. Her father saw what she was talking to. "Alyssa that's a worm. Are you trying to speak Parseltongue to it?" "Yes Dad. I just told him that needed to go back into the ground before he died." "But Sweetie, you can't speak parseltongue and it usually doesn't work on worms." "Yeah but he doesn't know that and I figured that it's worth a try." |
Little Alyssa frowned as she read through the History of Magic. She turned to her mother. "Mom....why does the wizarding community think that blood status is so important? I mean we're all humans aren't we?" "Yes we are Alyssa, but back in the days of Lord Voldemort, being a pure blood was very important." "Wasn't there a man called Hitler back in the 1940's who thought the same thing too?" "Yes sadly there was. Many people died because of what he believed in, just as it was with Voldemort." "Well I hope that we can get along better now." |
