55. Egg On. “Come on Vans. Only one cage left.” Iliana smirked from where she sat perched on the counter twirling Vanessa’s wand around. It was amusing to watch Vannie struggle, seeing as she was doing it without magic. This was a good idea for a detention… “Cleaning all these cages without a wand is hard work Lawson!” She really had been mean to her, she was sure Iliana didn’t clean her creature’s cages without her wand. “What do you think Muggles do?” But then again do muggles even have owl shops. She didn’t know. Maybe they did have them. “They employ cleaners.” |
43. Headmaster Iliana mused silently to herself as she looked at the sheet of paper in front of her. The head teacher position was opening at Hogwarts…again. She’d received this letter 3 times in her time at Hogwarts, and she still did not want to apply for the position. She looked up as someone came in, and a grin appeared on her face as she saw who it was. Vanessa was ideal for the position. “You should apply for headmaster Vans.” It would be cool. Her best friend would be here all the while, and the boss! “But I’m not a boy!” |
95. Snowball Iliana smirked to herself as she rolled up a snowball. The Christmas holidays were always fun at Hogwarts, and her best friend was here to spend it with her. Said best friend was currently lying in the snow making a snow angel, or a snow midget as she had called it. It gave Iliana the perfect time to throw a snowball straight at her. Resisting the urge to giggle she began to creep up on her friend, who was actually giggling herself, and when she was close enough, she dropped the snowball straight onto Vanessa’s head. “EEP Ilianaa! That’s collld!” |
4. Ancient Runes To say Vannie wasn’t too good at Ancient Runes was a bit of an understatement really. That’s why I was sat reading one of Less’s textbooks so I could help the poor girl. It was all a little confusing really, and I was tempted to send Vannie to Professor Lupa. But then Vannie had asked me for help, me being her best friend. “It’s confusing you.” Vannie smiled at me, at least she understood. “Makes two of us.” So maybe it was a good thing she didn’t want to go into this field. “Ask Professor Lupa. It is her subject.” |
29. Pensieve “Why?” Vanessa sighed, as she looked at Iliana. The woman knew how painful this was for her, so why was she going to make her do it. “It will help.” Iliana was sure, but if not it would make her understand surely. She rested her hands on her friend’s shoulders, before hugging her. “Please.” She only wanted the best for her friend. “You’ll stop if I want to?” She knew that Iliana would, but she just wanted to be reassured. “Of course.” She smiled, knowing Vannie already knew that. “You know I would.” Which was why they were best friends. |
81. Depression “It’ll be fine Vans.” Iliana sighed, why couldn’t she make her friend feel better. “Miles still wants to be friends with you.” That was good, especially seeing as they had been more than friends since forever. “I know.” He had told her that, yet she was still feeling very depressed. She rested her head in her hands, but had to smile a little as she felt Iliana running her fingers through her hair. She knew her too well. “Stay here for a bit. You can help me teach.” She knew her lesson had been Vannie’s favourite. “You are sly Iliana.” |
68. Roar. For my wifey (Liisa) <3 “I can’t believe you had a lion hat.” Vanessa had to giggle as she held the hat in her hand, showing it to Iliana. Her friend was such a nerd, but she loved her anyway. Nerds were the best. “You didn’t have to support your team. You were the team.” Iliana pouted. Her hat was cute, and she had been a student, she was allowed to be immature when she was child. But now Vanessa had it on her head, it suited her. “Rooaar.” Vannie giggled, as she pounced on her friend. “Cute…but you cannot roar to save your life.” |
53. Chase “Grace! Stop it.” Vanessa giggled as she watched her little girl chase Iliana’s little girl around the coffee tables. Those girls adored each other just as much as their mothers adored each other. “She looks so much like you Vans.” Iliana smiled, as she snuggled against her best friend. She loved times like these, and she knew there’d be many more to come. “Well I am her mother, I don’t except her to look like you.” Because that would be odd. “You’re sisters don’t look like you’re mum.” Iliana contradicted with a smirk. “That’s because they look like my Father.” |
67. Quell Iliana was singing that blasted song again, and Vanessa was almost regretting allowing her to borrow that CD. “Ili! Stop that singing!” She didn’t like it, and she was trying to study. “But I like the song.” Iliana pouted, as she sat down next to Vanessa, shutting the huge book that was in her lap. “Stop studying. You do too much.” She was already the perfect healer anyway. “But I promised I would finish this book by today.” And she totally hadn't, which was really bad because she always stuck by her promise. “You’ve only had it a day Vannie.” |
92. Chocolate “I love when you bring chocolates” Iliana giggled as she rested the box on her rather large yummy. “I’m just glad you don’t crave anything larger than that box.” Because big things were not nice for midgets to carry, especially all the way from London. She would be glad when the baby was here, because she wouldn’t crave anymore. “Mhmmm….strawberry.” And Iliana knew that strawberry was Vanessa’s favourite. She smirked, eating it quickly.“Oii! My favourite.” Not Ilianas. That was totally rude and unfair. She pouted, folding he arms, She was not happy. “But you brought the chocolates for me.” |
31. Dress Robes “Mummy….there too big” Vanessa’s daughter moaned as she came out of the changing room, to find her mother giggling with Iliana. She disliked when Auntie Iliana was here, her mother was always giggling. “Aww Sweetie.” It wasn’t Mummy that approached little Grace Iliana Paton but it was her auntie. She smiled at the little one, rolling back the selves of the dress robes. “All better.” But the robes were still a little long. “You’ll have to grow into them Ili.” Her daughter was always referred to by her middle name. “Like you grew Mummy” That girl was far too cheeky. |
30. Feast Vanessa giggled as she sat at Iliana’s chair in the great hall, whilst her bestie sat next to her. “Does this make me the male Professor Lawson now?” Iliana grinned; well she was sitting in his chair. He would probably disagree when he came but still, the feast didn’t start till 7 anyway. “Does that make me you?” Because she would totally rock as a professor. “If you’re willing to do all my marking….” She knew Vannie wouldn’t do that, she always refused when ever she came to visit. “Well if I can come to the feast I will.” “Deal” |
79. Authors choice – “One of us is crying. One of us is lying.” I didn’t know what to do. What was I meant to say when my single friend told me that she was going to have a baby? She had only just split up with Miles. “It’ll be okay.” Okay. So that was a lie. But I didn’t know what to say. I was having a baby too, but I was happily married. Our situations were so different, she was still only just a child, I still saw her as my baby. She was crying now, and I wrapped my arms around her, giving her a big hug. “I’m here for you.” |
84. Angry “I can’t believe you Iliana” It was there first fight, and it was horrible. Iliana was sat behind her desk, and for the first time ever she was actually scared of Vannie. “Vans…calm down.” She stood up, reading to approach her friend, and get her to stop walking around. She was going to wear herself out, and that wasn’t good when the girl was 8 months pregnant. Vanessa sighed, pushing Iliana’s hands away, but then she just hugged her friend anyway, forgetting why she was angry in the first place. “I can never be angry without, you’re helping so much. |
59. Ignore Okay. So maybe it was a bit bad of me to be trying to distract her when she was revising. I had gotten her that place on that intern course, so I know what grades she needed to get in her NEWTS. So it probably was bad, but still she had come to study in my hut, so maybe it was my duty to distract her. “Vannnie.” I whined, giggling a little. She had so far been trying to ignore me, but I knew it wouldn’t work for long. She was usually a talkative little thing. “Stop talking to me.” |
96. Socks “You brought me socks.” Vanessa stared at her best friend as she held the woolly things in her hands. It was her twenty-first birthday she did not need any new socks, and she was sure that her best friend knew she really wouldn’t appreciate socks for her birthday. “But they’re pretty.” Iliana pouted, as she crossed her arms. She liked those socks, and Vanessa should have done too. “And I made them all by myself.” “No wonder there’s a hole here then” Vannie giggled as she stuck her little finger through the hole in the heel. “Shut up Vanessa Corbette.” |
88. Sweet Tooth “I love sleepovers” Vanessa giggled as she watched Iliana shut the door to her hut, and lock it. Haha. No student interruptions. “And I love YOU so all is equal.” Iliana joined Vanessa on the floor, giving her a big grin. There was something else they both loved to, and it was sitting in a big bag in between them. Iliana took a big handful, before shoving most of the sweets in her mouth “Pig.” Vanessa giggled, as she followed suit, but just picking a chocolate frog. “I love sweets.” Iliana stuck her tongue out at Vannie. “You do too.” |
99. Newspaper “You look so pretty Vannie.” Iliana cooed as she looked at the newspaper in her hand. It was from Vannie’s wedding, and the girl really did look gorgeous. She was glad she’d done this for her. “I can’t believe you got the prophet to cover it.” She beamed at me, and we hugged. “I wanted you to have the best day, you deserve it.” She really did, she had raised Gracie on her own for so long, but now she didn’t have to. “I love you so much Iliana Lawson.” She said that all the while. “I know you do.” |
78. Author’s Choice – Love is noise. “Why are you screaming?” Vanessa giggled, as she stood in the one of the empty stables, whilst Iliana was cleaning it. It smelled a little, but that must have been why Iliana was cleaning it. “Love is noise?” Iliana shrugged as she threw some soap suds at Vanessa. The girl squealed, before frowning. “What?” Then she was pushing at Iliana, who promptly tackled her to the floor. So much for cleaning the stable. “Ewww. My new top.” Vanessa cringed, but she was still giggling. This was why she loved her best friend. Iliana burst out laughing. “You can wash it.” |
24. House Elf “We really need a house elf.” Vanessa commented when she looked at the mess that was called her apartment. Trust them to have babies at the same time. “Do you have one to spare?” Iliana asked, as she lay on the sofa, which was equally as messy. Vanessa stared at her best friend. Did Iliana really think that she had an house elf? That baby must have made the woman delirious. It was quite funny though, and Vannie was going to enjoy making fun of Iliana. Oh she was such an amazing best friend. “Ili…I’m half blood. No house elves.” |
25. Sorting Hat Iliana giggled a little as she watched Vanessa’s memory. She had really wished she had been at Hogwarts when Vannie had gotten sorted, but this would do, seeing as she didn’t want to wish that he bestie was younger, because then she couldn’t be her bestie. “You were so cute Vans.” She pointed at a tiny girl who had just plonked herself onto the stool. The sorting hat was placed on her head, and it made her look adorable. “Well we already know the ending of this story.” Iliana had seen the final 2 years of her schooling after all. |
46. Dungeon Vannie shuddered as Iliana pulled her down towards the dungeons. “Iliiii.” She whined, really not wanting to go down here. Yes. It might have been Less’ birthday but couldn’t they have had the party in Iliana’s office or something. “Quit whining Vanessa.” That only made Vannie giggled, because the woman hardly used her full name. Iliana rolled her eyes, and continued to drag the girl towards the dungeons. “Do you even know the password?” Because she certainly did not, and as neither of them were slytherins. She had a feeling that Iliana may have forgotten about needing the password “Oh…” |
1. Herbology “Eurrgh. I hate herbology.” Vanessa sighed, as she rested her head against my desk. I sighed. I knew what she was going through. NEWTS. Lovely. But she needed to get a good grade in herbology so that she could do healing, and I knew that she was going to be an amazing healer. “I know baby. But you’re doing brilliant.” I rubbed her shoulders, smiling down at her. She really was, she could have given up by now, but she hadn’t. This girl had a lot of will power. I was really proud of her. My little healer to be. |
45. Torch Iliana sat in the middle of Vanessa’s apartment, watching their two toddlers play as Vannie was hurrying around the apartment, trying to find some article that they needed. “Vanniiee hurry up.” She wanted to go camping already. She grinned at the two little girls, before looking for Vannie. “What are you looking for anyway?” “The thingy that’ll let us see when it like goes dark.” She nodded as she wandered past into the kitchen. Iliana stared at her. The thingy that’ll let them see in the dark. Didn’t a wand do that. “A wand?” Because that would be logical. “No.” |
56. Fight Vannie was sat in Iliana’s office, holding her head in her hands. Iliana was worried about her. She remembered the last time she had saw Vannie like this, and she really hoped it wasn’t going to get like that. “Was it bad?” Vannie nodded as she ran her fingers through her hair. Iliana had never thought that Vannie and Miles would ever had fought. She though they were in love, they had been together for so long. “It’ll be okay Vannie.” Iliana hugged her friend, trying her best to console her. “We’re all here for you.” Everyone at Hogwarts was. |
