Start-of-Term FeastThe time has come to say HELLO to another year at Hogwarts! Enjoy a great meal and good conversation with friends before classes in the morning!
If you are a graduating student, the time has finally come for you to approach the pedestal against the far wall and sign off like all those before you. The Memory Book is where you can leave behind an account of your favourite memories of Hogwarts and advice for future students to read. Should there be any lingering thoughts about the school, now would be time to let them go before you join the adult world beyond.
This is likely the first time you have ever gotten this close to the pedestal. You notice that the book those you saw writing in it all these years has been bound in brass and brown leather. Although the book is old, it surprisingly has been kept under great care as only the beginning pages are starting to turn yellow. Feel free to flip through the pages, read up on what your already-graduated friends and even your parents had to say. Whenever you are ready, simply pick up the self-inking quill set beside the book and pour your heart and soul onto the first crisp blank page you see.
Sophie Brown had perused it loads of times in her seven years at Hogwarts, sometimes for entertainment purposes, sometimes just because she was nosy, and sometimes when she was seeking great wisdom and guidance for the struggles she was facing. It had never let her down, but it was an awfully strange book, too. Caleb Newell's parents were in there, which was MEGA weird, and then there was her cousin Max, his wife Vivi, Max's best friend Ellie, Ravenclaw Head Girl Louisa, and her ALMOST favorite was a former Ravenclaw Head Girl, Celandine Toussaint. She had been in just about all the same activities that Sophie Brown had, save for the disbanded Transfiguration Club and Aparecium that Soph wouldn't touch, and she felt a sense of... pride. Pride that she'd lived up to the title of Head Girl, that she'd done so many great things to exhibit her school spirit and a love of life and learning that Celandine had, and more than anything, she felt like she'd succeeded. She'd lived the dream just in getting to attend Hogwarts, but Merlin, there had been SO MUCH MORE that had come from it. Some good, some bad, but most certainly memorable.
Her true favorite, however, was one entry she had read numerous times throughout her time at Hogwarts. She'd read it her very first year, become entranced by it, and ever since, she'd held its beautifully poetic words dearly to her heart. It wasn't until last term that she met the writer of that charming entry: Sabel Dakest, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who had become one of her favorite people in the whole world, like the big brother she never had. How fascinating of a thing fate was.
But then there were the people who had given her shoutouts, who had been at school with her and thought well enough of her to leave something for her directly: Elodie, Mo, Jun, Jasmine, Marigold, Eden, Ruby... and her classmates who had already written before her during this feast: Adi, Benzi, Puck, Cinna, Ethan... and Zander Adair? What in Merlin's name... HAHAHA. The bit in his entry about Flamsteed made her CRACK UP LAUGHING right there in front of the book stand, and throughout the entire duration of reading his message she smiled and laughed - all the way up until the bit about her. He wanted her to remind him to talk to her about something? Merlin... that's all she got from him? No... "thanks for being my best friend, I've loved our time together"... nothing? Huh. Interesting angle there, Zander Adair. But her curiosity was sufficiently piqued, so she supposed he succeeded in getting his intended reaction from her, then, unless... it was some sort of final statement before some sort of dramatic break-up? But would he really have wanted to do that like THIS? Certainly not, she knew Zander inside and out, and he didn't have a malicious bone in his body. Couldn't have been a dramatic break-up, especially since she was CERTAIN that he still loved her, so... honestly, she had no idea. He wasn't, like, dying or something, was he? Merlin's beard. She... tried not to think about that.
But it was her turn. She'd come quite prepared, having brought a list of people she wanted to mention and a picture to stick onto her page, just as she'd noticed Ascanius and West had done in the past. It was important for people to have a face with a name, wasn't it? That way, when they came to visit her at Ollivander's or saw her out and about, they'd know she was the real deal. The rest of the words were a bit more difficult to come by as she placed the tip of her pink self-inking quill on the page, but there was no turning back now.

When I was a little kid, my parents would tell me stories about Hogwarts. Both former Gryffindors, they had a lot of super cool things to share, so much so that attending Hogwarts became the be-all, end-all of my childhood existence. I couldn't WAIT to get here, and when the time finally came, I must say it did not disappoint. I met loads of brilliant people, formed a vast army of fantastic friends, made a couple enemies along the way, and had the time of my life. These past seven years have been everything I dreamed it would be and more.
So you're probably thinking... but Sophie, you're leaving now, it's over, so all these things you're saying are super depressing. And yes, it is over, but the coolest thing is that it's not going to feel like it's over because so many of the things I gained here are going to be constants in my life forever. I'll still always have my Hogwarts family, I've attained knowledge here that is worth more than all the galleons in the world, and the experiences I've had here have made me who I am today. So, to me, it's not over, and it's not goodbye. Hogwarts will always be a part of me, and I'll take this place with me wherever I go. Through the memories I've made, the lessons I've learned, the friends and professors who have inspired me to be the best person I can be - this dream come true has influenced a whole slew of new dreams and aspirations for me to pursue, and I'm forever grateful for every single one of you, past and present, for making these the best seven years of my life.
Of course, I have a whole lifetime ahead of me now, and there'll be even more best years of my life to come. I think that's one thing to keep in mind for a lot of you who attend Hogwarts and don't have the same enchanting experiences that I've had - this place is temporary, just a snippet of your life, and there's always bigger, better things to come. If you feel trapped within these walls, take it from me: the years fly by, so you'll be out of here in no time. But that's also good reason to embrace these years for all they're worth. I know sometimes life gets crazy here and old-age diseases almost kill us all, we get snowed in and almost freeze to death, ancient fairy tale books possess us and turn us into fairytale characters, kids die in the Forbidden Forest, and acromantulas try to seize Hogwarts, but the fact of the matter is that the wizarding world is a scary place. Muggles have it easy, don't they? We face the most terrifying dangers on a regular basis, things far beyond their imaginations, and we're forced to be courageous. That's one thing I've learned that Hogwarts is good for - introducing us to real danger, challenging us, and preparing us for the real world where there are no professors to have our backs. So I know this school has gotten a lot of bad publicity and has been heralded as a boiling pot of instability and peril, but that's the real world, kids. It's time to arm ourselves with the life-saving knowledge and skills the professors are teaching us and show those dangers what we've got.
I need to insert a disclaimer here, though: as confident and brave as I may sound in this book, there have been loads of times where I have not been brave. I mean, some people have said I'm a smorgasbord of all four houses: I'm clever, I'm brave, I'm ambitious, and I'm loyal. But sometimes I'm also impulsive, scared, hopeless, and neglect the people who mean most to me. I've been insecure, I've hid behind professors, and I've cried in the face of danger. And you know what? That's okay. I know that a lot of people have looked up to me while others have had a field day focusing on the latter list of negative traits there, but the fact of the matter is that we're all imperfect - it's called being human. We have our good traits, our bad traits, and we're all just trying to make sense of this crazy thing called life. All we can do is try the best that we can to be good people and do good things, and at the end of the day, I think that's enough, no matter our failures along the way.
That reminds me that I'm not sure that we should put too much weight into our houses. I know that a lot of us go through Hogwarts struggling with thoughts of, "What if I should have been sorted into another house?" We all have loads of positive qualities that make us qualified for more than one house, and we also have things about us that make us seem unfit for our house sometimes, too, so it's understandable that we'd question where we fit best and if the Sorting Hat was wrong. But if most of us are facing these confusions and feel drawn to a different house or more than one house, doesn't that seem like there's some sort of flaw in the system? Perhaps, but I think the best advice I can give on this matter is to just let it happen. Just accept the house you're in because never in Hogwarts' extensive history has anyone ever changed houses. Your house is your home, whether you're confused or hate it or want to be with your friends in another house. I can guarantee there will be others like you in your house, some who think they're better suited for a different house or don't see why they were placed in the house they were sorted in, too. But keep this in mind: not every Ravenclaw is intelligent, not every Gryffindor is brave, not every Slytherin is ambitious, and not every Hufflepuff is loyal. Your house is not a cause for an identity crisis. If you take a good look around, you'll find plenty of people, just like you, with whom you can make long-lasting friendships. It'll be entirely what you make of it, so don't waste your years pining to be in a different house - embrace yours for what it is. It'll be the best choice you could've ever made.
Some quick tips: make morning walks or runs a habit and leave the castle just before sunrise (trust me, it's worth it), join as many extracurriculars as you can, make sure to call Professor Flamsteed "sir" twelve times a day (okay, don't actually do this or his head might explode), don't take yourself too seriously, remember that academics are important but so is your health, make time to explore every nook and cranny of this place, befriend Sir Nicholas, don't let the Grey Lady tell you how to live your life, and make best friends with professors because they'll give you food and extra points in classes and paint your fingernails and be the perfect pseudo parental shoulder to cry on (minus Flammy - don't cry in front of him or his head will explode again).
That was a whole lot of mushy, nonsensical wisdom, so I'll wrap this up. If I tried to make an individual shout-out to each and every person who I feel deserves a shout-out, I'd end up taking up way more pages than I'm allowed, so I've compiled a list of all the people I could think of who have impacted my life here at Hogwarts. Some have been my best friends, some have been enemies-turned-friends, and others have been people who have simply been enjoyable company to have around. Each one of you is special and important to me, even those of you who are long gone and probably won't ever see these words, but if any of you ever need a friend or a laugh, I've got your back.

After sticking her photograph to the parchment, Soph dwelled at the book stand a bit longer to re-read her words, absorbing the sentiments and making sure everything felt... right. Then, when she was finally satisfied, the Head Girl sniffled, swiped a sleeve across her face to catch her nostalgic tears, and returned to join the feast with a full heart and a big ol' Sophie Brown smile, her sparkling eyes and childlike enthusiasm toward making a few last memories with the time she had left at her home carrying her along.

Reagan remained a happy flower! Even now, as she approached the heavy gilded book on the pedestal, all that could be seen were smiles. She'd thought she might not write anything, to be honest...She'd, after all, left Hogwarts for three years before this past term...but then she'd thought about all the people she'd met throughout the course of the term: Rooney, Riley, Adious, Professor Myers, Professor York...
Well, it just seemed downright irresponsible NOT to write a little something.
After all, she'd read somewhere that when you allow people to get to know you, not only do you offer them a piece of yourself, but you also take a little piece of them, in return. So, as the proud owner of so many new, beautiful pieces, Reagan felt she needed to honor them in some way. Perhaps not with 'shoutouts', but with keen advice.
Chewing her lip in thought, Reagan carefully picked up the quill and flipped to a clean page. She promised to keep it brief!

Lovely Hogwartians, lend me your ears!
I'm not one for inspirational words, usually...but in the spirit of sharing a little piece of myself with all those that might follow, I only have these few things to say:
⚘⚘ Befriend people from all four houses. As someone who refused to identify as just one thing, I think it's important to meld with all these different personalities. You are your best self when you can properly understand others. ⚘⚘
⚘⚘ Animals are our friends. They aren't meant to be eaten, but protected and cherished. Advocate for their safety and welfare. ⚘⚘
⚘⚘ Forage for seaweed in the black lake. Snacking on it is healthy for you, and awesome for your skin. Professor Myers will help you with this if you aren't sure how to. He's a very kind man. ⚘⚘
⚘⚘ Also, everything is better received when you have a steaming cup of tea. ⚘⚘
⚘⚘ Lastly, hang rosemary on your garden gate, plant lavender for luck, and burn sage to cleanse away harmful spirits. ⚘⚘
...And to all those that I have met and loved throughout all my years here at Hogwarts, you've changed me forever. Even if you weren't specifically aware of it. I love each and every one of you. Continue to do your best and accept that your best is all that you are expected to offer.

There. Perfect!
Kissing her fingers and carefully placing them just beneath her name on the newly inked page, the Ravenclaw took a step backward...and then another...before turning and making her way towards her house table. She still needed to toss a flower crown on Sophie Brown's head....

Ugh.
This was the hard part about tonight. See, even though Heather never had a problem expressing her opinions about things, she did problems expressing her emotions. And that's what this book was about, right? Or least, that's what she was getting from previous entries anyway. So, here she was, standing here in her dress, having at least pretended to follow her Head of House's instructions one final time (what did it matter what she was wearing anyway? She was leaving!) but really used it as an opportunity to come write in this infamous book. Only now she realized that, well, she didn't know what to write. Maybe she should've thought this out better, but there was no going back now.

So.
I suppose I'm supposed to leave behind some great big profound statement about Hogwarts and how it's changed me and some notes to people who may not even read them anyway. But if you know me at all, you know that I'm not really good at that kind of thing. What I am good at though, are opinions and saying the right thing at the wrong time or the completely wrong thing at the right time. So, here are some thoughts and opinions:
Forbidden things are forbidden for a reason. STAY OUT! You know, unless you want to be Acromantula chow.
A holier-than-thou attitude fools no one *coughcough*Benjamin*coughcough*.
Don't spend your whole life with your nose in a book. It just may end up possessing you (seriously. It happened.).
Constant niceness and cheerfulness comes off as fake. Don't be afraid to get angry. Or sad.
Fresh air. It's a good thing.
Professor Flamsteed may seem like a nut, but he has your best interests at heart. Most of the time, anyway.
Okay, I realize that this is more like advice that you're not going to read until you're done with Hogwarts, but it's all I've got.
Peace.

The badger slowly made his way up to the memory book, biting on his bottom lip. It felt so odd, writing in that book. He never thought this day would come. These seven years had passed by in the blink of an eye and he just couldn't believe it was already over. A shaky hand reached out, and his fingers wrapped firmly around the quill. Swallowing hard, he hesitated, holding the pen over the empty page. The seventh year looked over his shoulder behind him, taking a moment to look at the Great Hall, his professors, and the students chatting. He sighed. It had been an amazing seven years, that was for sure. Okay. Now to finally write in this book before he started crying in front of everyone. And he surely didn't want that. Letting out another small sigh, Dylan began to write...

Merlin's Beard does time fly. I can't even believe I'm already writing in this book... I can't even come up with the words to say to describe these amazing years I got to spend here at Hogwarts. I guess I could start off saying thanks to everyone who helped make these years so unforgettable. Especially my girlfriend, Bleu, who I love so much. Thank you love for always being so sweet and loving to me and having such an impact on my life. I would also love to thank my best friends and brilliant professors. Thank you so much.
Now I suppose I should give some advice to the future firsties, yeah? Hmm. Let's see. Well, one, don't be afraid to be yourself. Be willing to open up and do the unexpected. We are witches and wizards after all, aren't we? Get involved in the school - whether it be with Quidditch or that book club they have going on sometimes. Make some close friendships too. You will meet some of the nicest people here at Hogwarts, there's no doubt about it. Also just cherish every moment you get here...because it really flies by fast.
Well, that's all for now. Thanks again Hogwarts, for everything.
-Dylan Callaghan, 2088
But - despite him expecting for it to feel like THIS WAS IT - it didn't. The chatter of his fellow wizard people was behind him, the air smelled of tremendous food and nope, nothing felt like the end. Coming to a stop where the memory book was kept, Noel pulled it open. Before tonight, he didn't even know this book existed, so no - he wasn't all that torn up about it.
Because honestly speaking? He didn't get it. The book bored him. The novel like entries were hard to read, and since he didn't know any of these people - he couldn't get himself to care. That was until Ruby Banner's name appeared. Suddenly interested, he read his first crush's entry with a wide grin - and possibly a faint blush because as he read her words, he could picture her perfectly. And to his utter surprise she had scribbled his name! Actually to say he was surprised was an understatement. But nonetheless this was a really good surprise. And just as he sighed her name, with nostalgia - his eyes found the entry of the other Banner he had recently become really good friends with. It was strange how familiar his writing felt. Again, good strange. He smiled reading the older boy's entry, learning something new about him in the process.
Skimming and smiling through other entries with familiar names, Noel finally made it to the entry by Benzi Rider. Wuss, thought the puff immediately - because THAT was a big entry. He ALMOST didn't want to read it, he wasn't sure why - but the feeling was there. But he forced himself to give in, because when was he getting this chance again? - Noel read it. And honestly? He had to reread it. Not because he was confused, or had zoned out - like he had with others, but because he couldn't believe what the older boy had written.
Going solo? Him?
Yeah, definitely NOT thinking about this. Not right now, not tonight.
Picking up the quill quickly, Noel wished he could rush through this entry - because a certain kind of agitation was creeping in and he didn't like it. However, the moment the tip of his quill touched the page, he was blank.
Where to start? What to write?
Maybe he could write pointers like many others had, and advise students on how not to get killed at Hogwarts - because no matter what you do, kid, Hogwarts gonna get ya! - but frankly, the muscles in his hands were already hurting from thinking about writing - so no. And that is why writing a novel about people he cared about seemed like an annoying idea as well.
Sure, he could be corny and write something wise for Hayley, and Benzi. Or for Maddie, and Maggie, and Paige - and everyone that mattered - but ..... if he was honest with himself, it'd be forced, frankly he'd hate it. So how about no.
An idea hit him, but just as he was about to write 'WIZRIOTS FOREVER' in big letters he stopped - thinking it'd be better etched somewhere in the castle rather than being buried in this big butt of a book, that graduates like him skimmed through.
.... and suddenly it hit him. Smiling, the boy wrote, and was done in about ten seconds.

Flipping the book closed, Noel Wallace turned and left.

Hayley waited a while before approaching the seventh year memory book, wanting to give her fellow graduates a chance to write whatever they please first, and also to collect her thoughts. Or rather.. find them. She had no idea what she was going to write, what she was meant to write. Advice? Thoughts? Memories?
Opening the book wide, she carefully flipped through the first handful of pages, curious to find her own parents entries. Grey-blue eyes skimming one page and then the next, Hayley merely took in names here and there. She found her Aunt Amelia's entry, Aunt Vannie's, there was her Aunt Sarah's name.. and Captain Kaika, and Aunt Ari.. all people she had grown up knowing as family, and mostly still knew to this day. People that had influenced her, and helped her grow.
And there was.. her mum's entry. Long. It was long. Hayley stopped there, and took her time reading over her mother's familiar hand-writing, a small smile tugging at her lips, which only grew at the very next entry - Aunt Alexis.
Unable to find her dad's or Uncle Fred's, and assuming maybe it was possible they simply hadn't written anything at all, Hayley moved on toward the middle - toward the more current graduates, and only paused when she found Benzi's page from last year. Her smile grew, ever so slightly. The 'I love you's' and 'be selfish' warmed her heart, and made her ache. She missed him too. And though there was no eye rolling, he did make her laugh softly to herself.
She couldn't wait for tomorrow, to board the train and come back to him, as he had put it. To start her new life, outside of Hogwarts. Not that she wouldn't miss this place, because.. she would, a great deal, in fact. After seven years and all the memories and familiar faces it would be hard not to. But.. surprising even herself, she felt ready. It was time to go.
Flipping to the next blank page, Hayley held the quill firmly, and took a moment to soak in what was obviously her cousin's entry. Rage, indeed.
Smile.
Pressing her quill to the blank parchment next to his, she wrote:

It was weird, standing in front of the large , bound in brass and brown leather book where the seventh years left their legacies behind. Yoongi had a list in his hand of people he wanted to mention but that was it. He had no clue what to write down so he flipped the pages and read through them, taking his time reading a few because he was the only one here right now anyways.
When he came to Zander’s message , he couldn’t help but laugh out loud at his advice for the new Head Boy. Him. Yes, he had definitely needed good luck this year. Young students this day and age weren’t exactly a walk in the park. But rude as they could be especially towards him, he still grew fond of them and he knew they would turn out well.
Turning to the last page, Yoongi dipped the quill in the ink and began to write.

I know the leaders of the school are supposed to have good advices or supporting messages. But who wants to read the same kind of messages over and over again with each page they turn. Still, I can already see the disappointed looks of the Professors when they read this. So here are my few tips and advices which you can all ignore. Or read, It’s your choice
1. Your House is your House whether you like It or not. Tough it up because if you actually give it a chance you WILL love it.
2. Listen to the Professors. They have the best interest at heart for you even if it looks like they don’t.
3. Talk to your Prefects if someone or something is bothering you. They are not here to just seek out rule breakers and reporting them. They are here to help you.
4.”I can do this!” “I am awesome!" say these a few times in your mind or out loud right now.
5. Make uplifting and positive sticky notes and hang them somewhere you can see them everyday
6. Take notes during classes. You WILL need them later in life.
7. Get out of your comfort zone and sit with that person you’ve never spoken to before in classes instead of with your friends. There’s a high possibility you’ve just added a new friend to your group.
8. Everyone is different. Everyone has things they love and things they don’t. Do not judge someone because they do not like the same thing as you do.
9. USE A MOISTERIZING CREAM .YOUR FACE WILL BE SO SMOOTH
10.i don't know, i wanted to reach 10.

Ever since I got to know you during that Ancient Runes class I wanted to be by your side and learn more about you. Whether it was in classes or outside of them and I’m sorry I didn’t have the guts to ask you out sooner because now we don’t have much time together anymore. You’re an amazingly sweet person and you make me smile whenever i see or think of you. Thank you for being a part of my life and being my girlfriend.
Hady:
You’re an inspiration, you truly are. I learned so much from you and not just how to produce a patronus. You taught me how to be resilient and persistent and I wanted to thank you for believing in me when I thought that no one else did. You’re amazing and I wish you the best of luck with your animagus training.
Prof. Dakest:
I know that you probably won’t ever read this, sir. But I still wanted to write this down because I never gotten the chance to say this out loud. Thank you for starting up the dueling club. I became more confident and I found out I had abilities I didn’t even know I had. You also taught me to be brave in dangerous situations and keep calm around the younger students.
Prof. Flamsteed:
Thank you for helping me find my passion. I knew that I wanted to do something involving Charms but I had never thought about experimental ones. I will go to the university of Edinburgh and make sure to let them know i was a proud Gryffindor.
Prof. Myers:
Thank you. You know what for.
Ilia:
You are wonderful, seriously. The way you helped me train to get over my fear of heights was something you didn’t needed to do but you still did. I wish you and Henric hehe the best and a bright future.
Adi:
You already graduated so you’ll never see this. But I wanted to thank you for saving my life. I would have been either taken away or killed on the spot if it weren’t for you and I owe you big time.
For the next person i’m going to quote the previous Head Boy, Zander Adair because I feel that his words were accurate.
To The Future Head Boy: LOL Good luck, mate.
Gryffindors :
You’re all awesome. You’re all amazing. Keep up the spirit and you will win that house cup again.

Grace had been looking forward to writing in the memory book. Her mother had told her about it, telling her to make sure that she wrote something good. Gracie couldn't believe she was graduating. It was something big. The last seven years had gone so fast. She was going to go into the big wide world. And that was kind of scary.
But she was excited too. Her adventure here was over, and now she was going to start her new one. First she had summer, but then she would begin her adult life. It was scary, and exciting. But she was so ready for it.
She just needed to write in this book. Standing at the podium, she really had no idea what to write. So she just read through the book. She smiled to herself as she read through familiar writing. Her Mom's. Her Dad's. People she knew. They made her smile. She read over Noel's, laughing a little, and then Hayley's. Her best friend. She was so glad that they had remained friends through these seven years. She loved Hayley Diggory more than she would ever say. She was glad to be graduating with her still as her best friend.
Now she needed to write. Picking up the quill, she smiled and wrote her piece
SPOILER!!: entry
I don't want to write too much here. Who wants to be reading on their last feast at Hogwarts? So this will be short.
Hogwarts has been great. The last seven years have been amazing. But I'm ready for the next adventure. True I will miss these halls, and everything here. But everyone has their time, everyone must take the next step forward. Tomorrow I take my next forward. But I will never forget the steps I have taken here.
Thank you Hogwarts. For everything.

Maddie didn't care about the feast or the points or the speech. She also didn't care about offering words of wisdom to future students who didn't know her, so had no reason to care about what she had to say. What Maddie did care about was the two boys she was with. Doing this with them felt right and so she approached the book, curious and in the lead-per usual, and picked up a quill.
Quote:
I found family here. They changed me, challenged me, and helped me grow. I want to thank them for making a homeless girl feel at home.
Maddison Arabella Cooper The Impossible Girl
Satisfied, she turned to Freckles and Dima and shrugged with a smile. She didn't feel any different for having written in the book but she did feel a sense of finality. This was it, yeah? Were they ready for new adventures, too?
"Your turn," She said, offering the quill as she stepped aside.

Being at this feast made him feel sick. Honest-it did. For most of his life the thing he had wanted the most was to get his wand and go to Hogwarts. And when it finally happened, only great things followed. Sure there were a few sad times, but he made friends, learned what it was like to really and truly love people. And now- now he was just leaving.
He lived out what he had wanted since he was four years old.
Now want?
Glancing up at Maddie as she offered the quill to him he nodded. "Okay."
Shuffling forward to the memory book, almost instantly started flipping through the pages. One year back. Two. Five. Ten. Twenty. Pausing finally he stopped at an entry and read it over before skipping forward and reading one more.
Taking a deep breath, Kyroh turned the book back, past Maddie's entry, and began to write.
Quote:
I first walked through the doors of this castle when I was 5 years old and my father was a Professor.
This castle has been my home for as long as I can remember it.
I want to cry as I am writing this.
But then I think about the new students who will walk through these doors. They are the same students that will take over my broom cupboard, lay on the floor and stare up at the amazing ceiling in the halls, meet friends that they will love for the rest of their lives and experience all the amazing things I was able to expeirence and I don't feel as bad.
Hogwarts will always be my home.

He read over his entry twice before stepping back and holding out the quill. "Amid. You're up."

This whole night felt surreal, in the best and worst ways. A night of goodbyes. A night of old ends. A night of new beginnings.
That was the whole point of this, right? The so-called 'memory' book was really a future book, helping soon-to-be graduates like Dima move from Hogwarts onto different adventures. And he wasn't depressed about it. Nostalgic, definitely, but ready. So ready.
Which was why, when Kyroh slipped the quill into his fingers, he didn't bother looking back through the entries. He'd read the important ones a million times before. Now, it was time to leave his own mark.
Quote:
There is absolutely nothing special about Hogwarts. Over 2,500 castles exist in Britain alone. Sure, this one is beautiful and magical and huge, but it can't teach you anything, and it can't help you become more than who you are. What does that are the relationships you make here. Gorgeous lakes or lavish feasts won't change you for the better— that will be friends standing by your side as you grow.
A castle will never give you what you need. Some things you have to take.
And I am so grateful to be taking with me the best thing possible: a family.
Dmitriy Yves Toussaint Ravenclaw Class of 2090
Turning from the ink to the very family he'd written about, Dima grinned. He was incredibly lucky. As the almost-alum linked arms with his mates and tugged them towards their house table, he was sure not a person existed with whom he'd rather have spent the last seven years.
He hoped Maddie and Kyroh knew that. They had to.

It didn't surprise Dot that she had to make her way up to the memory book by herself. She liked to surround herself with the people she considered her chosen!family, but she'd always had to do the hard bits on her own. There was a reason that the hat had made her a Slytherin all those years ago, and it probably was largely to teach her to rely on herself.
She picked up the quill left behind the previous student and dipped it in the ink. Black ink? Boring. She much preferred purple.
Quote:
Dearest Hogwarts Family,
It's taken me six long years to gain all the experience and lessons that have made me who I am today. I've made plenty of mistakes, hurt the people I love the most, and hopefully become a better person on the other side. I've loved and been loved, hated and been hated, and looked extremely fabulous while doing it.
It was a lot of work to get here, and there's no way I'm giving that kind of knowledge away for free. Put some work in and earn it yourself.
To the people I've loved and who have loved me, you know who you are and what you mean and thank you. To the people I've hated and have hated me, suck a lemon. To everyone else, there is never too much glitter.

She laid the quill down carefully at the bottom of the book, ready for whoever wanted to pen their memories next. A blot of purple ink discolored her fingertip, and Dot tried to decide what shape it made as she returned to her seat at the Slytherin table.

To be honest, Henric was reluctant to come up here but he knew it was time to write his entry before he leaves the school later in the afternoon. He didn’t want to say goodbye, he refused to say those words. Hogwarts has always been his second home and it will remain as such until he dies. He pulled open the book, flipped through the pages and skimmed over some of his graduated friend's handwritten entries. He couldn’t believe how many of them had mentioned his name. His heart warmed at the things they said about him. He was grateful to have met them over the years and in his heart, he wished them all the best as well.
He picked up his dragon scales quill and tried to think about what exactly he wanted to say in his entry. Good merlin…how was he going put them all in words? Taking a deep breath, he started to scribble away.
SPOILER!!: Henric’s Entry
Fellow Hogwartians,
Let me just start off with the 5 W’s of life quotes I would like to share with you.
WHO you are is what makes you special. Do not change because someone tells you to.
WHAT you tell yourself every day, will either lift you up or tear you down.
WHERE there are choices to make, make the ones you won’t regret.
WHEN life gives you lemons, make a bloody good sorbet out of it.
WHY failure isn’t an option, is because you don’t let it be an option. You take it in stride and you move forward.
These quotes have helped me throughout my seven years here and I hope one day it will be an inspiration to those who will be writing after me.
Thank you, professors, staff, friends, instructors, ghosts, house-elves, portraits and more for making my education years well meaningful and adventurous. All of you play a big part in my life and I wish to do the same by inspiring others in the future.
To my girlfriend, llia Freya Valke. You’re amazing and wonderful. I won’t be here without your support. I’ll be waiting for you at the platform!

After eating, Penelope walked up to the memory book to write in it. Her eyes teared up again as she thought of leaving Hogwarts, the place that had been her home away from home for seven years. She would miss it here, especially the Ravenclaws. Picking up the quill, she began to write.
SPOILER!!: Penelope's memory book entry
When I first came to Hogwarts I never imagined myself becoming a prefect and head girl. I’ve grown so much these past seven years and I’ve learned so much more beyond what is said in the classrooms.
Advice for everyone:
Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable and show your emotions.
Stay true to your authentic self and you will be happy.
Be inspired by others, but don’t idolize people and try to become exactly like them.
You are a beautiful, strong, individual. Never attach your self worth to the judgement of others.
Don’t let others define you. Be yourself.
Be courageous. Speak your mind. Know when to listen.
Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible. You can achieve anything.
Don’t be an idiot. Please don’t get yourself killed. Seriously, some of the stuff here can kill you.
To all the Ravenclaws:
I’m so proud of all you’re accomplishments and you’re all special in your own ways. Life isn’t all about studying. Get involved in extracurricular activities, do your homework, take time to think, and be yourself.
Thank you for being part of my Ravenclaw family Sophie Brown, Jasmine Guidry, TiaMarie Mancini, Rooney Bronwyn, Hadley Denaker, Kitty Valentine, Janelle Guidry, Azura Kennedy, Rachel Watson, Katherine Moss, and all the other Ravenclaws.

One thing he had forgotten to take into account, was his recorded farewell. His entry in the Hogwarts memory book, a book that allows individuals glimpses into the past, and advice for a future generation who will be too late to receive them. He would realise this last thought when he finally braced himself to approach the text to leave his mark.
His mark.
He had to leave a part of himself behind, just words on a page to speak to people he might not know. Would anyone even read it? He would have thought not, but then, he wanted to read the messages of the past before he began.
With a blank page staring up at him, Zeke thumbed back into the most recent past, a few names standing out as he did so, their words resonating with him to some degree. But it was as he turned the pages with growing speed that he realised he knew what he was looking for. His mum’s entry… how long ago had that been?
After turning page after page after page, he found it - found it, but almost missed it. The blue ink and her youthful scrawl catching him slightly off-guard. More than that, reading the passage she wrote had sent his head into a spin. He recognised a part of her language, but the optimism and emotion she expressed in her writing was something he didn’t see in her now - or at least not so forthcoming. Had all her years in law enforcement really changed her that much? And WHAT was this about bread rolls and Heads of Houses?! BAHAHAHA. No doubt it was something he would be asking about when he got home. Heh.
Still he smiled, his fingers touching her words as if their connection would be deeper that way. He couldn’t believe his luck though, because the very next page contained the words of another person he had great respect for.
Sabel.
And Merlin… he was a sappy writer.
Somehow though it made sense, the man had always had that deep nature about him, and his message was received and understood. It sounded like much of his time at school if he was being honest, and this made him feel more accomplished than perhaps he should. If he could follow in the footsteps of this man, then he might amount to something worthy after all.
But it was his turn, and he was at an absolute loss as to what to say.
Someone help him!
Taking a quill in his hand, Zeke charged it with black ink, hovering it inches above the page - not yet confident in setting it down. But then something spoke to him, and so he penned his words as neatly as his fingers would allow.
SPOILER!!: entry
By now it’s too late to give you sound advice, to tell you about the things you should have done in your years here. What I can tell you, is if you haven’t lived yet, then make yourself a promise to start now. Every good thing that has happened to me has been as a result of taking action. By making the first introductions I’ve made friends, by asking for help I have learned lessons more valuable than those of your average class variety, by putting my heart on the line I have gained so much more than I might have lost. Be fearless, what’s the worst that can happen? (and don’t be so dramatic, what goes down eventually comes up, unless you’re dead).
Now is a time for a reflection, yes, but now is also the time to look ahead. Make plans, take action, be the best version of yourself that you can be.
I could do the usual thing and write the names of my friends and family, but they know who they are, and they know I love and thank them for the time we’ve shared together. I could write about my Professor’s and thank them for their service and for putting up with me when I was late to classes, bored out of my mind, or otherwise distracted. But the ones that have reached me know how grateful I am, and for the others, I’m sorry?
What I do want to share with you, is this. My name is Zeke Browne, I was a Gryffindor, and I aspire to be a successful Curse Breaker among other things. I hope that one day I will have my own chocolate frog card, that my name will be repeated in history books, that I have meant something to the development of wizarding culture.
If you’re reading this, you’ll likely forget me, and that’s okay. Just don’t forget to live.
I do however have to thank my girlfriend, my best friend, my soulmate; Magdalena Traulton, for no reason other than because she completes me (and she might kill me if I don't mention her).
Goodbye Hogwarts.
Zeke Browne
Future Curse Breaker and 4x Duelling Champion
... and somehow NOW everything seemed final.
It was over.
After another brief moment of silent contemplation, Zeke set the quill down and let his page rest open, waiting to be turned over by the next person to write their bit. Content with his entry, Zeke placed a hand in his pocket, the other trying to smooth out the top part of his hair as he retreated back to the celebrations from which he came.

So...this was it...and Paige was not feeling things that she expected herself to. She could still recall riding the boats in her first year alongside Zeke and how they had gazed up at the castle in complete awe at the twinkling lights from within the stained glass windows - each representing a new fantastic possibility. How she had discussed with Thornton the merpeople who dwelled beneath the very waters they were gliding over and how it was on her list to learn mermish and converse with them during her time at Hogwarts. Now, here she was on the eve of her departure from this castle and a far cry from that curly haired first year that had entered. While sentimental feelings were certainly a thing, the urge to cry because of them was not present and she had expected herself to feel sad this evening.
But what was there to feel sad about when everything that happened had brought you to this point? A point where she felt the most confident she had ever been and an almost ethereal certainty about her choices from here on out. If anything she felt a calming sense of gratitude and a readiness - because Merlin was she ready to leave and start the next chapter. Which was why she picked up the provided quill almost immediately with the intention of writing and heading promptly back to the Hufflepuff table to finally join her housemates…
….but instead found herself flipping back through the book to the words of the graduates from her first year. Names that were familiar but attachment regrettably did not go beyond that. Still, she read over their entries. It was not until she got to Eden’s entry did she feel any sort of firm sentimental pull on her heartstrings. Reading on, Paige smiled when she found Toby’s entry and couldn’t stop the blush from appearing on her cheeks recalling the incident of the shirtless glitter wonder. Embrace it. She found herself smiling at those words and could picture him saying them so vividly in her mind.
Her blue eyes fell on more familiar names and a bit of a nostalgic smile spread across her face recalling them. Then there were the names that came next...names of people she had vaguely know at Hogwarts but knew much better now. She lingered on Benzi’s entry for a time, some advice he said there really striking a chord with her - along with them agreeing on something that Paige now knew was a very real possibility. She ended up laughing aloud when she got to Zander’s, but not because of anything he said but because her initial reaction was wondering whether or not he had enough underwear. Although she did read over his entry with the same diligence that she had shown others, if not a little more. Next came Cutty’s (the Slytherin who had somehow become the brother to her she never knew she needed) and Paige found herself shaking her head before picking up on something in the manner in which he had written. “Chaos is a ladder,” she read quietly to herself, the weight of that statement not entirely registering with the Hufflepuff, but it being so unmistakably Cutty that she felt it almost invasive to do so. Holy honking daffodils did Sophie Brown write a LOT. Although Paige hardly expected anything less and was quite surprised to see her own name written in the former Head Girl’s entry. An entry which she DID read in its entirety and couldn’t help but smile the entire way through it.
And then came the entry she had been anticipating for quite some time now - Noel’s. Her fingers instantly traced over the familiar words, their significance transferring to her fingers just as much etched on paper as they did skin. Words that her heart was set on supporting under even the more dire of circumstances because that was what you did when you felt what she did. It was odd thinking back to the time he had written this to now and made her realize a few things about herself in that moment while also making her even more grateful to have him in her life and conduct her heart the way he did. As insufferable and infuriating a bucket of Bubotuber pus as he could be. Hayley was next, which seemed incredibly fitting, and Paige smiled while reading over the former Ravenclaw’s brief entry. Yet another person she was grateful to have in her life now.
Then came those who had left only the year prior and the soon-to-be-official Hufflepuff alumna read over their words extra carefully. All people she had written letters to before they had graduated, so they knew precisely the significance of their influence on her life - some for better some for worse. Maddie had both inspired and robbed her of confidence. Kyroh reminded her to embrace the effortless zest and curiosity for life and that there was always more. Dima had not only taught her how to make a mean cup of vegan hot chocolate, but planted the seeds for standing up for herself. Dot, well, there was really no putting down to thought everything the redhead had taught her and she found herself wiping tears away after reading ‘suck a lemon’ for some strange reason. Henric (where WAS he now? But oh look! There was her name...and her step brother's. She had not known those two knew each other!) had introduced her to the art that was pie making and she still thought back on his kindness as something to strive towards. Penelope, who they never did finish their ink invention adventure, taught her about perseverance.
And then suddenly she was at Zeke’s entry, one that made her heart twist uncomfortably at the reminder of just how different things were now, and then...a blank page. A page meant for her and now the quill in her hand suddenly felt like lead. She supposed she could go on and write a novel about what the past seven terms had taught her, but in this moment...neither that nor paying homage to those - past and present - who she cared for and had played significant roles in her life here at Hogwarts felt like the thing to do. Those people knew how she felt and there was an intimacy lost proclaiming it to future generations by writing it down in this book. Listing her accomplishments and superlatives felt far too much like a resume, and thus those would be omitted as well. So, instead, she elected to keep her contribution to the legacy that was this memory book soft spoken now that the quill no longer felt like a burden to hold.
SPOILER!!: entry
Blowing gently on the ink to make sure it had dried, her gaze lingered on her signature for a time to allow the sense of completion to wrap her up like a warm blanket. And then, as silently as she had when she had sat down on the stool to be sorted, she walked away from the pedestal and back to her house table.

There weren't enough hours left in the school year to count all the ways that Nicky didn't give a fancy fig about Hogwarts or the tradition of the seventh year memory book. But, the temptation to deface mark the book was proving to be enough of a pull.
Once again just sliiiightly out of uniform - what were they going to do, after all? - Nicky tucked a strand of blonde hair as she made her way to the book. A skeptical eyebrow raised, she flipped through a few pages, muttering under her breath about the ridiculous sappiness of some of the entries prior to hers. How insufferably vomit-inducing. Some incredibly big heads that Nicky was quite glad to be leaving behind. She allowed herself a smirk thinking about how many big dreams the book must contain that had been dashed once people left the bubble here. She could think of a few classmates who had rubbed her the wrong way who she would be glad to see that happen to.
But now for her entry. Picking up the quill, Nicky flipped to a blank page and set to writing.
SPOILER!!: entry
Everyone prior to this entry is lying to you. They're all overcoming with the sentimental blubbering of people who think themselves more significant than they are. Don't take advice from this book. Everyone's 18 and doesn't know anything yet.
Maybe you heard some stuff about me. I promise you at least half of it is true. And the other half, well... it was probably worse than they tell it.
Well, Hogwarts. I was here two years. It's been a party and I got paid, so... tchau.
-Nicky Iver
And with that, she slipped her lipstick out of her bag, applied it fresh, and pressed a deep red lip print to the page. With that, she turned on her heel and headed off in the direction of the Slytherin table, to find the one person she wouldn't admit to maybe missing.

Seventh year. Graduate. That meant Kaycee got to write in this book. Alright Richards, what has years of experience and this badge made of you? What legacy should she leave behind?
She tapped the quill against her chin as she pondered these thoughts. She really should have been planning this from the start of the term. Whoops.
SPOILER!!: Kaycee's Entry
Dear Future Hogwartians,
Here is a simple guide on what to do while you're here.
Step 1. Follow your dreams and drop sick beats as you do it.
Step 2. Find a best friend and name her Maggie.
Step 3. If you're lucky, you'll find a few. Don't name them ALL Maggie. That would be confusing.
Step 4. Rule the world.

She had thought about not writing in the memory book. Brooklyn knew that she should, that her aunts and her sister had and in a weird way that meant she should. She just wasn’t about to deal with being all emotional and whatever else writing in the book meant. Instead, she used the time it had taken walking up to where the book lay to escape what had been going on back at the Slytherin table. The awkwardness, mostly, and the walk had also allowed her to consider what had been revealed during the headmaster’s speech. That he was leaving too, which was weird to her. A professor leaving, or even several, was common, but it was strangely odd to think that the headmaster was moving on instead.
She wasn’t about to bother to consider what that meant. She wasn’t coming back, so it didn’t really matter. Nor did it matter that she didn’t have any plans as to what she was going to do next. None of that was important, but she could leave a little memory of herself here.
Flicking through the pages, she only scanned a couple entries. Her sister’s, of course, which was surprisingly not very sappy, and then she’d read Ethan’s. That had put a tiny smile on her face, knowing that her basically adopted big brother had acknowledged her position in here. It only cemented her idea of what she was going to write. Picking up the quill, she put the tip to the next empty page and began.
SPOILER!!: Queen Brooklyn’s entry
Setting the quill down again, she took a second to glance over her words before turning to go back to the Slytherin table. At least she’d gotten something out, some sort of catharsis, even if most people likely wouldn’t have understood how it counted.

Hugo had been thinking about this day probably since his fifth year because before that he didn’t care much about the complexity of leaving Hogwarts. Have you noticed the seventh years every year? Tons of emotions, hugs and tears. He was not ready for that but he had been writing down some stuff to put on the memory book and now that he was finally allowed to write in it he had no clue what he was actually going to write down. You see, he wasn’t much of a writer except for owls to his family or friends.
He read through the pages, a lot of advices where in it and mentions…LOTS OF THEM. How is that people have taken the time to write every single name on this book? Didn’t that took a lot of time? Ain’t nobody got time for that. At least not him. Hugo took the quill and dipped it in ink to start his amazing entry.
SPOILER!!: Hugo's entry
What’s up people? First of all, since this book is probably 99.99% filled with advices, I’m gonna let you know my advices for you, which basically are very simple and easy to do.
1.Take naps. Doesn’t matter how old you are, you NEED to take naps, alright? Your body and mind can’t function properly without that so, think about yourself first and take a well deserved nap. Also find a good place, taking a nap in your dorm isn’t the best idea.
2. Eat. Always. Don’t skip any meal because then I’ll have to ask you: what are you doing with your life? Just eat, there’s plenty of food for you and everyone else at Hogwarts.
3. Don’t take things too seriously. Really, I mean it because if you do, you lose and nobody wants to lose, right? So, just live your life as easy as you can.
4. If you like a girl, JUST SAY IT. I didn’t do this when I had a crush on Marigold, former beautiful Hufflepuff Prefect but I think I was pretty obvious…STILL just tell the girl you like her and that’s it. IF she rejects you, well, her loss amigo just keep going.
And that’s it. Four easy but valuable advices from your Slytherin Prefect. Also, don’t be scared if you don’t know what to do with your life, I don’t have a clue what I’ll be doing after graduating and this is where you apply the third advice. See? They are helpful.
So, in general I have had seven amazing years in here in which I have met people who have become my friends and I don’t want to get emotional so that’s it. Good luck!

He smiled to himself after finishing his entry because he was proud of what he just wrote. With that he made his way to the feast because food was waiting for him.
This felt like her final act at this school. The memory book. It was like a holy artifact that nobody was allowed to touch unless you'd passed the test. The test being surviving seven years in this school. Or at least make it to your seventh year in one piece. It really HAD been a tough road at times but they'd all made it here. To this day. To this feast. To this book.
This. Was. It.
After waiting her turn, Maggie took her time reading through some of the previous entries. Kaycee's in particular made her laugh and weirdly touched her in a way that made her eyes tear up a little. Nope. She was NOT going to cry now. Not yet. She had to write in this book first. It was her final task. Smirking at Zeke's mention of her (yes, she WOULD have dragged him back up here if he hadn't mentioned her) she turned a few pages until she'd found some of the entries of people who had graduated the year before her.
Kyroh. Noel. Dima....
Running her fingers over Dima's entry for a moment, Maggie then finally picked up the quill herself and turned the pages back to an empty one. Right after she'd added, Good Thinking. <3 to Zeke's entry. Okay. Now.

Dear students who will graduate after me,
You missed out. You are at least one year younger than I am, therefore you missed out on at least one year being in this school at the same time as I was. Your Hogwarts experience won't feel complete. And this is why. Your experience won't have been the same as mine was. Now some of you (Ravenclaws) might argue, that everyone always experiences things differently. (Yes, I HAVE hung out with a lot of Ravenclaws over the years. Some of their cleverness must have rubbed off on me.) Still, you missed out on spending seven amazing years with me at this school. And THAT is partly why your experience won't be the same as mine and other people's in my year.
Every term is a new challenge at this school.
People who've said that Hogwarts tries to break you are 100% correct. And that is IN ADDITION TO overall craziness that goes on in this school. This is in addition to having Acromantulas almost eat you alive or creepy dolls or lovestruck old hags. Spending every day with the same people will drive you crazy. You will fight with everyone, even your closest friends, at some point during your time here. This is what Hogwarts does to you.
However, it is also those exact same people who will mend you back together after the school has tried to break your spirit. Because the most wonderful thing I've experienced at this school are the people I've come to meet and befriend. This is why Hogwarts, despite everything, is a wonderful place. So thank you. And I'm not sure they will read or see this but I will list them all anyway because they deserve the recognition:
Thank you, Zeke, for...everything really. For believing in me. For loving me. For the fact that we will be spending the rest of our lives together. For letting me borrow your owl that one time.
Thank you, Dante, for being there from the very beginning. I couldn't quite explain why but we clicked right from the start. You were always there when I needed you, for both when I needed you to cheer me up or simply if I needed someone to talk to.
Thank you, Kaycee, for being there for me and helping me deal with everything. Thank you for always supporting me no matter what. We're going to do amazing things in the real world, I can tell!
Thank you, Dima (even though you will probably never read this). You'll always have a very special place in my heart and I want to thank you for being my moral compass through all these years and calling me out whenever I messed up. Also thank you for being my go-to-Ravenclaw whenever I needed one.
Thank you, Elliot, for listening. For giving me advice (even if I didn't want it). For letting me give you advice (even if you didn't want it). Thank you for sticking with me after everything.
And thank you to all the other people I've met who've changed my life forever. I WILL miss Hogwarts but I'm also looking forward to what comes next. And that's what all this is about right? Preparing you for the real world. Well, real world, here I come. I hope you're prepared.
Love, xoxo,
Magdalena Natalie Traulton You Know Who I am
After reading through her words one last time, Maggie reached into her pocket and sprinkled some pink glitter over her entry. She used her wand to make sure it would stick to the page before setting the quill down and taking a step back.
Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch
Sneaking way from the lions' table, Frankie walked over to the pedestal with that big leather book he had seen the graduating students writing in year after now. It was a bit off to see people his age go up there -- Zeke, Paige, Devil Girl, Kaycee, Brookie, Hugo, and Maggie. Now it was his turn. It was now or never.
To be perfectly honest, the Head Boy didn't have anything prepared to write in the book. In fact, he planning on not writing in it -- not because he didn't want to, but because he had no clue what words he wanted inked in there from this day forth. The blond, really, was only interested in what all this before him had written. And so he began, page one...
It didn't take very long for him to start skimming and skipping pages. It bewildered him that all of these former students of Hogwarts wrote freaking novels or poetry on their last day in the castle. What was wrong with those people? Only the short entries earned his approval.
One entry in particular made him smirk: his mothers, from AGES ago. He read every word she wrote, just to make fun of her a little when he got home. The Gryffindor wasn't surprised at all of the typical mumbo jumbo she had written. Her voice then sounded just the same as it did now. Except her love interest had changed. His dad, whose name was no where to be found within the book, was definitely not her Hogwarts sweetheart. It was funny how things worked out like that.
Satisfied, he then flipped through the pages in search for his half-sister's entry. If there was anyone in this entire book that would have left cringe-worthy reading material, it would have been her. Though, before his eyes landed on her entry, a line from a Bott stood out at him: 7. The broom cupboard down near the kitchens - it's actually for snogging. Use this well, too, and wisely. Heh. Too right she was.
A few pages later, two names screamed at him. Hayley Diggory and Grace Parker-Paton ... surprised him. Frankie expected their farewells to the school to be longwinded and full of mush. They were the exact opposite, containing nothing to embarrass them or hold over their heads. Sighing, he flipped over yet another page.
He read the remaining entries, though only because these were the few he had been through it all with. Frankie wasn't tearing up at their entries, but some of them did touch him. A few lines even made him laugh.
Then there was a blank page. His blue eyes wandered over to the quill, and he didn't stop himself from grabbing it and letting the words he now had to say pour out of him.

1. Hadleigh Lynch is the most beautiful, most intelligent girl to walk around the castle. She happens to be my girlfriend. It's okay to be jealous of me.
2. My hair is the best. It even trumps my dad's, which is saying something as he is the Sleekeazy CEO. Once again, it is okay to be jealous.
3. Professor Hirsch -- I call him Hershey -- is the best professor this school has ever had.
4. You will gain a ton of weight here at Hogwarts. I guarantee it. The elves' cooking is amazing.
5. That Bott girl is right about the broom cupboard. Though you didn't hear that confirmation from me.
6. Brooklyn Andrews is weird, man. Just weird.
7. Nicky Iver is worse than a dementor. I feel sorry for the bloke that is tricked into marrying her.
8. Boys, always make sure you check the stalls before doing your business in the sixth floor bathroom. Peeves likes to steal toilet tissue.
9. Candy is precious. Find a good place to stash it or else your roommates will eat it all. Don't say I didn't warn you.
10. Be good, people. I'm will not be afraid to kick your butt and lock you in a cell if you aren't.

Hadleigh had waited until as close to the end of the feast as she dared before even setting foot anywhere near the pedestal that held a book. Not just any book. One that held down all the hopes, dreams, memories and farewells from seventh years she knew and didn't know. Years and years worth of advice and feelings.
She had briefly considered going against what everyone had thought and expected of her. Not writing in the book would have been a huge surprise to those that knew her best and as she opened cover and began to scan over the entries inside her thoughts had changed. Her fathers entry was in here along with her aunts and uncles a few years worth of pages after it. A small smile formed on her face reading those and once she was done pages were turned back once more to find two entries she had skipped but knew were there. Just after that of her fathers. Michael Lynch and Renee Parker. Her fathers best friends, her parents. The nearly eighteen year old found herself reading and then reading their entries and though simple as they were she couldn't help feeling as if they had written a book. There was just something about seeing their thoughts and feels written down in their handwriting along with their signatures that made her heartache. Wiping a tear from her cheek with the back of her hand she picked up the quill that was there. Yeah, she'd be writing in the book tonight.
As pages were turned more names she knew were found. Each time her name was mentioned she couldn't help but give a small sad smile or an occasional laugh. Some of those people she hadn't seen recently and briefly had to wonder where they were now. A mental note was given to herself to find out, to send owls to each of them and just say 'hello'. Those she had kept in close touch with she'd be seeing really soon. Moving on to University with them in just a few short months. How fast the time moved by in a place like this.
Before long Hady had reached the entries of her fellow seventh years. Those she knew a few years or her entire time here. Friends, dorm mates and a few she didn't know all that well. Each of their entries was read and pages were turned. The last page containing writing was Frankie's, his little message about her was sweet. At least he didn't joke about how they had met. She'd have to tease him too about being more important to him then even his hair. Laughing softly the page was turned leaving her with a blank one. One meant for her. Flexing her fingers around the quill that was still in her hand she inhaled a slow breath.
What does one write though when everything has been said so many times. Did it really matter? Probably not just so it didn't sound stupid. It was all about leaving her mark anyway, wasn't it? Something that screamed Hady across the page.
And so it began. With a clear mind Hady did what Hady always did. She wrote. Not from memory but from now. Whatever ended up on the page would be the result of just writing with a clear mind. No thought involved.
First though, the color of this quill was totally wrong. Her wand was taken out and she cast the color changing charm upon it. Green. Slytherin green. Perfect. Now that that was taken care of her wand was stored back in it's holster and the quill tip touched the paper.
SPOILER!!: Hady's Entry
I could stand here and write down every memory, thought, dream and piece of advice I could come up with but I won't. Really who has time for that?
I could also stand here and list down every single person that has touched my life since the first time I stepped foot through the doors of this place but I won't. If I did I'd need a bigger book and really who has time for that?
So I'm just going to do things my way and see what happens.
Franklin Paton: I don't even know where to start. We've been through a lot together. You've been one of my largest supporters around here even when I've gotten myself in over my head (which I've done many times). Thank you for sticking by me and allowing me to see that it's okay to not always do everything all at once and how to take a step back to figure out what's important to me. And maybe...just maybe people should be a little bit jealous of you since you have me as your girlfriend <3 P.S. Yes you do have amazing hair.
To all my professors, past and present: What can I say besides thank you. Each and everyone of you have taught me something that I will always carry along with me. It might not have always appeared that I was fully paying attention or that I even understood one word coming from your mouth but I was and I did. If it weren't for the lot of you pushing me to my breaking point and well beyond that I wouldn't be the young women I am today.
To my friends: I won't list you all because you all know who you are. Whether it's been from the very beginning as first years or just this term alone I want you to know that I value every memory we're every made. Every piece of advice, scolding, kind word, hug, late night study sessions. All of it. Thank you for always being there.
To my bandmates: My girls. What really can I say that you ladies don't know? You're more then my band mates now, we're like sisters. I adore you girls and I couldn't ask for a better, stronger, more talented group of friends to play music with. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it! We'll always be...The Sirens! <3
To my older siblings: Though we're not siblings by blood and none of you will every see this you've been some of my biggest supporters in life. You're stuck by me through the good and bad, giving me tips and stories to get me through the years. I'm finally ready to move forward. I'll see you all soon!
To my little siblings: Most of you aren't blood either but in our hearts and minds you are. Stand strong, be smart, work hard and you will achieve everything you're hearts desire. You can and will do this so make me even prouder of you then I already am!
And no I didn't forget about my real siblings...though you're just babies now someday you two will be here reading this. Don't worry you'll be ready and every bit as capable of doing anything you want. I'll always be here for you both.
To my snakes: Gosh, I don't even know what to say to you all. Slytherin was my home long before I could even understand what it meant to be one or even say that word. You all are my family and I will take away so many memories from all our days and nights spent together over the years. Do what you all do best and stick together, work hard, work smart and be the best you can be. Once a snake, always a SNAKE! <3
...Before I go there's just a few things that you all should always keep in mind from the moment you step in the doors for the first time until the very last time you walk back out through them.
Make Mistakes! You're supposed to. It's a part of growing up.
Take Risks! Do something you've never done before. Do it without thinking or a care in the world. Just don't get yourself killed or expelled while doing it.
Constant Vigilance! Always. There's always something that's gonna happen to put a bump in that smooth path you're trying to follow. Things are none to happen when you least expect them to so pay attention.
Make Friends! A whole bunch of them or just one. It doesn't matter. In good times and in bad it's your friends that will be there to pull you through.
Learn Something! Anything.
Have FUN! Take a break every now and again. Go swimming in the lake. Climb a tree. Have a snowball fight. There's so much to do around here so take the time to do it.
Dream BIG! And then go out and make that dream a reality. You can do it and don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't.
Above all else...LAUGH!!! Laughter is the best medicine after all.

Setting the quill down Hady used her wand to change it back to it's proper simple black color. She then re-read all that she had written. It would do. Closing the book she turned and headed back to her table to finish out the feast.
