Default Work Areas and Cubicles

International Cooperation
Work Areas And Cubicles

Graphic done by Becky

The work areas are filled with large cubicles for each member of International Cooperation. Each cubicle is nice and open with a large desk and a tall bookshelf on one end. A comfortable rolling chair behind it and two additional chairs in front for those needing seating for delegates that might visit our ministry. Feel free to mix and match cubicles and decorate your office as you wish. Please do without the workout rooms however, law enforcement might allow you to train there if you wish. No one is expected to sit with your fellow division unless you wish to! Only a handful of cubicles have a window, so grab one quickly when you see it open up!

ooc: Open RP Area. Any ministry personnel may RP here.

Cynthia walked into the room in shock. She didn't expect her first time in the Ministry (well, the real one) to be like this. Everything that could be broken and destroyed was. It seemed like the work area had died. Since the witch was the first one here, she had better make the best of the current situation. However, she just couldn't picture what had caused this terrible mess.

After having to WALK the whole way to his own department because the lifts were so dilapidated, Harland arrived to the cubicles a little sweatier than usual. When exactly a longer-than-normal walk began to wear him out this much he wasn't sure, but Harland didn't let being slightly winded show on his face.

Of course, when he caught sight of the state of the office space, his face did show initial shock and then anger. AAARGH!!! If it wasn't one thing around here, it was the other! Not a few months earlier things had been missing left and right, then no one could get into the Ministry, and now THIS?!?!

Harland strutted over to his desk brusquely, barely giving a passing glance to one of the newer pretty employees, and stared down at his half-eaten (wait, EATEN?) chair, the absence of some of his charmed items that had been a gift from his sister, and PAPERS. EVERYWHERE.

"Quite the mess, no?" Cynthia asked briskly. A man had walked into the room, and he was a bit red in the face. If this was the only employee coming, she'd have to interact. How else would this demonic mess go away? The brunette made a face. "You have any...um, ideas?"

He was walking through areas of level 5 once he'd finally got to his department. He still had a bit of a bruise from where he was hit from the debris when they'd finally got into the ministry. But this was ridiculous! His office was completely destroyed, and fixing everything would be pointless being there wasn't really anything left to fix! He needed to work on the holes in the floors before he did anything else really. Walking into the work areas he saw Harland and Cynthia and gave them a grim look. "I didn't expect it to be this bad..." he said quietly. "And it appears that all levels look just like this one."

Harland looked over at the girl he had hardly noticed upon his entrance with a sour look on his face, though it wasn't aimed at her. He wanted to make a sarcastic remark about how this was actually exactly the way he left his desk, but he bit his tongue. "Ideas? Find a new---" He saw Gidyun coming... "Chair? For starters?" What a mess.

Harland's grim look as he turned to his boss mirrored Gidyun's. All the levels just like this? "Is it possible to have just one period of normalcy in this place?" he asked, massaging his temples. He opened his dark eyes and looked at Gidyun once more. "So what's first on the agenda to fix up, boss?" Well, at least they would all be able to add 'Handyman' to their resumes once this was all finished.

Chair. Yes, a...chair? Cynthia hoped that her brain started communicating with her body. She must have seemed like an idiot. She cleared her throat.
"Oh, yes," the witch replied, like it was an everyday conversation. "Accio office chair!" That had ought to do it, so she waited for the chair to arrive.

That was a valid question from her coworker. Could things ever, just once, be normal in Wizarding Britain? Cynthia highly doubted it.
"Don't think so," she contributed gloomily. "Every year, something has to happen."

The witch looked at her boss for a reply. She too wanted to know what they were doing. This was an awful mess for three people to fix. Who, or what, could possibly have done this? The Ministry would figure it out. They always did, somehow.

The chair! Cynthia had forgotten about it entirely. Now it whizzed toward them so fast that it was a blur. Until it hit her boss and her, sending everyone toppling over. Maybe she should just resign now.

Dmitry was running seriously late for work. He'd already had to take time off for personal reasons, which wasn't ideal considering he'd not long got the job, and now that it was his first day back on the job he wouldn't even be on time. To be fair it wasn't entirely his fault. Ana had been staying with him and although he loved his younger cousin dearly she had held him up today with her lack of a sense of direction, and lack of being of age meaning he had to shrink all her belongings for her and whatnot. Either way the result was the same. He was late for work. It also didn't help that he'd never been in the ministry before and therefore got lost just trying to find level five.

Frowning slightly as he finally made his way towards the work areas, thankful that he was fighting fit and therefore hadn't broken out into a sweat or ran out of breath, Dmitry was shocked by the devastation that confronted him. How did this happen? It seemed as though nothing was left untouched and he was actually glad that he hadn't started working here before all the trouble with being locked out of the ministry started. It seemed that if he had everything that he would normally keep on his desk would have been ruined. Considering some of his items were quite precious, some for sentimental reasons and other because they were expensive, he wouldn't have taken well to them being destroyed.

In his distraction Dmitry almost missed the fact that a chair had come whizzing towards the group he was approached and it was only his quick reflexes which allowed him to jump back out of the way, that kept him from being toppled by Harland when she fell over. That had to hurt. "Would you like a hand?" Dmitry asked her, as he stepped back towards them, holding his hand out so she could take it if she needed a bit of extra help to get up.

"I seriously wish there was. A week even would be nice." he said shaking his head. Merlin, the last few months had been a disaster trying to handle having their offices in Muggle London with a receptionist for that matter that was a muggle! "The first thing we need to do honestly is to see if there is something. Anything at all that indicates what it is that has caused this destruction. Whether it be creatures, a poltergeist, anything at all." He kicked some broken pieces of what looked like part of a desk. "Something has to be causing this. It's too much destruction for anyone person." Merlin he hoped so anyway!

Cynthia was way too right, something had to happen. And for the last 2 years something had been going on. Before that he'd heard of the plant that caused zombies?!?! Seriously, he'd moved from Italy and brought his family back here hoping for peace! He had just turned to look around more when the chair hit him from out of no where and he found himself flat on his back dazed. Okay...yeah he needed to find coffee. Moving to sit up he shook his head "Maybe we should do a thorough search of the level and see if we find anything."

Cynthia looked around. Assuming this man (Dmitry...right?) was talking to her, she grabbed onto his hand and wobbled to her feet. This was a mess, and the witch's head hurt like crazy.

Agreed. Cynthia knew that something powerful had caused this catastrophe. She hoped it wasn't human. If it was, well they'd have serious issues on their hands. It would be the worst witch or wizard since the Dark Lord's time.

"Yes, that seems like a good idea," she said to her boss.

Stephen let out a low whistle as he took in the state of the office area, He hadn't been expecting the office to look like such a rundown dump. It just didnt seem fair he had worked so hard to help with the effort to actually get back here, he had even gotten hurt. Which reminded him that he had to see a certain mate about brewing him a little potion to help with his injuries,(though he would keep the bandage on his cheek, it gave him an even more ruggish look) Back to point it wasn't fair after all that he came back to this junk heap, or well that was all he was seeing anyway.

He was well aware that he was running a bit behind so when he noticed he wasn't the first person in the wrecked space he wasn't surprised. though seeing that there were only four persons present he counted that as an accomplishment, so he wasn't that late.

He gave a loud greeting to the four occupants as he fully entered the space.

"MORNING EVERYBODY"

Oh, it was that guy. The one who had found her asleep on the ground. If he told anyone, he was dead meat. He probably wouldn't dream of it. Stephen was nice and friendly, all right. Too friendly for Cynthia.

The witch kept her pretty much usual inscrutable face. She had to say that she was good at it. Stephen had a little bandage on his cheek. Couldn't he just charm his would off? Maybe he wanted to look tough or something. Cynthia didn't know, for she was unfamiliar with that idea.

Now Stephen was practically screaming an enthusiastic "good morning."
"Morning," Cynthia echoed with half the volume, though still in a pleasant manner.

As Cynthia took his hand Dmitry pulled slightly, helping to get her off the ground. He kept his grip on her for a few moments after she'd regained her feet, making sure that she was steady enough that she wasn't going to fall back over, before letting go of her and surveying the area again.

What a mess.

A thorough search? Sounded reasonable.

Despite the fact that he knew there could be something dangerous on the level with them Dmitry didn't bother to pull his wand. Depending on what had done this, and if it was still there, a wand mightn't be much protection anyway. He would be keeping a sharp eye out and he could draw his wand from his holster in seconds anyway. This was not his idea of fun though.

Oh, hello loud cheerful person. Obviously someone had gotten to have coffee this morning. Either that or they were a dreadful morning person. Although, at least they hadn't called out good morning.

"Morning," Dmitry returned, giving the other man a slight nod and a tight smile. Etiquette and all that.

Stephen casually made his way over to his co-workers, it would appear that something had gone down in his absence...hmmm... he wondered what that could be? well no one was running for their lives so it probably wasn't that significant.

He turned to regard the sole female in the room.

"And how are you doing today cynthia,Have you gotten your daily dose of caffeine as of yet?"

Before he could get an answer from Cynthia he turned to address Dmitry

"And what has our little newbie gotten herself into this time?" he was courser referring to Cynthia seeing as when he had gotten in the room he had noted she was on the floor this would make it the second time he'd walked into a room to find her obeying the laws of gravity. Speaking of Cynthia he reached over and gave her head a quick pat.

He then addressed Dmitry once again

"what exactly are we supposed to be doing now?"

Quinn made her way into the work cubicles, sighing again at the mess. She sipped her coffee and surveyed the scene. Coworkers - check. ... Yeah that was pretty much it. She stepped over to her coworkers, then shifted a bit of rubbish with her toe. She was going to need a LOT of coffee for this.

Merlin, the place was a mess. Having gotten to his feet, Gid started working on sorting papers from the rubbish on the floor and making stacks, albeit they were pretty small stacks. Some of the papers had tiny little holes poked through them that looked like bite marks rather than just someone poking a hole in a piece of paper. Digging deeper into the rubbish he found little groups of what looked like a pile of wand bits and other stuff. "Uhhh I think I found something" he said out loud for anyone who heard him.

Poking the bits of what looked like a nest, he looked around the floor "I wonder if there are others."

Derek went over to level 5 with a few spray bottles containing the pesticide the whole Ministry building needed. He didn't remember actually knowing anyone from that level, which made things worse.

The Lab Technician heard voices coming from the cubicles and headed that way only to see LOADS of people there. Ugh...

"Um... you should all spray the pesticide around." He started, wondering if they even knew about the infestation. Probably... not? "There is a Chizpurfle infestation all over the Ministry and this should get rid of them." Derek placed the spray bottles on a desk and started to slowly back off. Too. Many. People. Urgh. "The pesticide is time sensitive, so you should start as soon as possible."

No questions, right? Merlin, please let there be no questions.

Quinn was happy to see authority. She watched her boss poke around the piles for a while. She considered poking around as well, but she just sipped her coffee.

BUT THEN PESTICIDE!!!!! Chizpurfle infestation? She mused how on earth that started while taking a spray bottle. She sprayed it around. Hopefully this would clean stuff up.

"And how are you doing today cynthia,Have you gotten your daily dose of caffeine as of yet?"
Cynthia gritted her teeth. This was a guy to watch. Make sure he didn't ruin her life, or even just her morning. Wait. That might already have happened, although this Ministry mess wasn't too hot, either.

"Why yes," the worker replied reluctantly. "Thank you for...won-." Cynthia was interrupted. She was trying to cut back on her caffeine intake, she really was! Back to more important matters.

Great. What the heck was this? A nest? Oh, no. That did not seem good. Cynthia had taken Arithmancy and Ancient Runes for her electives, but she liked to do some studying in her free time. And it looked like a chizpurfle nest to the witch.

They were probably dealing with a chizpurfle infestation. The pests were only classified as XX, but they could destroy all magical items if the Ministry let them. Which was what they were presumably doing. However, the Ministry wouldn't let them.

Yes. Inside high five. Cynthia was right! See, she still could put her smarts to use, after all. She didn't really want to spray pesticide everywhere. The witch was pretty squeamish when push comes to shove. But she'd do it, for the sake of the Ministry or whatever. Did they get the spray bottles from this grumpy man now?

He looked up as someone entered the room "Well that makes sense, they eat magical items..." he murmured "Thank you we'll get right to it here and take care of the nests in all areas of level five. If you need additional help, please let us know." Merlin this was going to be a job on its own getting the place sprayed down and then getting it all cleaned up as well? Merlin!

"Let's each grab a spray and start working around our department. Get everything sprayed down, and not worry at all about any of the mess til we get the little buggers out of here first before they do additional damage." There was already enough damage to the level, please don't let there be more! They were already a nuisance in regards to having to fix up everything and clean up this huge mess. Not to mention having put them out of the ministry for a time as well!

He headed for the bottles and grabbed one himself and set about clearing out those nests he'd found.

No questions. Perfect.

As the people started approaching the spray bottles he had placed on one of their desks, Derek backed away and eventually disappeared through the door again, going back to his own Department.

Cynthia snatched a spray can from a table and held it. Huh. So after all the hard work, this is what was going to save the Ministry? It almost made the worker feel...inferior.
"Yep," Cynthia contributed.

The witch pressed a button which released a smelly, red gas, along with that typical hissing-aerosol-can sound. This was probably bad for the environment, but it would get the job done. Cynthia approached a nest tucked under the last cubicle's door. After a thorough spray, the roost kind of just withered and died. The creatures sure wouldn't be coming back here, if everyone was doing this.

Quinn put her coffee cup down - no one else take it - so that her spraying could go quicker. It certainly seemed like a small solution to what seemed like a hopeless problem. She sprayed under tables and such, continuing to think. If it was just chizpurfles, which she remembered from her COMC class, then why did it take so long to be figured out?

Sometimes she reeeeallly didn't get the government.

Chizpurfle's! That was what Dmitry had been meaning to tell Gidyun. His head was just everywhere today and he'd completely forgotten about the fact that he'd heard someone mentioning that there were Chizpurfle's on their level. He'd really need to up his game from now on. At least now he figured out why he didn't feel the need to use his wand. Probably the back of his mind reminding him that if he did it would likely get eaten.

Following his boss' orders Dmitry grabbed one of the spray bottles with the pesticide before looking around him. Seeing where his colleagues were walking Dmitry made an effort to go as far away from them as he could. There'd be no use wasting the pesticide by accidentally going over what someone had done if he wasn't too close to them. Besides, if the stuff was time sensitive better to get it over a large area as quickly as possible.

Pressing on the trigger like thingy that made the spray bottle work Dmitry covered his mouth and nose with his pocket square, using the other hand of course, so that he didn't have to breathe in the fumes. Because he was sure that whatever made up this pesticide probably wasn't great for the environment or his health.

Quinn was spraying like her life depended on it. Not that it did, exactly, but she, being an artist, had a personal vendetta against messes and those who cause them. So she wanted to get ALL the chizpurfles out of her nice and clean workspace, yes.
