While Level Six is being renovated (with the funds provided, Lynley really knows how to stretch every sickle, all right?) employees will be houses here during the workday. Lynley's office is not being redone, either, but she cannot currently get to it as it's on the OTHER SIDE of the renovations.

So, we're all in here, happy campers.

Makeshift desks have been set up. It smells like new paint and plywood. They should be done soon, don't worry. How long does it take to magically redo an entire level? You'd be surprised.

Honestly, Chloe wasn't sure how she felt about the new office space, despite the fact that she knew it was only temporary. It just felt WAY too cramped for her and being 20 weeks pregnant wasn't helping with her abilities to control her body temperature. Because despite it being like zero degrees outside, the ginger felt like she was on fire all the time. And to think she was only halfway (and barely sporting a baby bump but it was definitely there if one looked closely).

Hair tied back in a ponytail, which was uncommon for the young woman but it was one way to at least keep her neck semi-cool, she found the desk marked with her name on it. And though her feet were already killing her, she glanced around for her boss instead figuring she might as well tell her sooner rather than later that in a few months she'll be taking a few weeks time off. She'd been mentally playing it out for a couple weeks now, but somehow the time just never seemed right, but pretty soon she was going to be showing way more and well, she'd rather be the one to tell Lynley, as opposed to Lynley finding out because her employee was gaining unexplained weight.

The office is being renovated........?

Vickers walked cautiously through that section of the office that wasnt walled off, trying to see if he can get a peek at how much further along the remodeling was taking place. Naturally his first thought was his Apparitions classroom, which he didnt prep for this renovation, and that made him a little nervous. That place has more magic than it seemed at first glance ok? Lets just hope the his magic holds and that he wouldnt have to explain to his coworkers why Helms Deep suddenly sprang in the middle of the office.

But for now, this is his office, which seems to be everybody else's office. Oh boy its gonna get cozy in here, greeaaaaaat for his OCD "Hello Chloe." the Ravenerd greeted the woman softly.

There was no point in calling a meeting because they only had ONE space to work in anyways, so Lynley could just ~~discipline~~ "meet" with them any time she wanted.

Merlin.

This was going to get crowded. The impromptu temp desks for her employees were small. Her own was small. Ugh. She eyed Chloe and Vickers as she made her way onto the Level their first morning back.

"Well. I thought they'd be done by the end of the holidays, but I guess I was wrong."

Dear Merlin this was small. Evan wasn't sure what to think as he entered the area where EVERYONE in the department was to be staying until the renovations were complete. His blue eyes quickly scanned over the room taking in each small work cubicle and his fellow co-workers and boss.

"Hello Chloe, Vickers," he greeted them both with a brief nod of his head. "Good morning, Lynley." There was a slight smile on this lips as he greeted everyone. "How much longer do you think this is going to take?" The question of course was directed to the boss simply out of curiosity. Evan really didn't mind the close work quarters as of yet but who was to say how he'd be feeling by the end of the day, or week? Hopefully his good attitude wouldn't waver at all as the hours passed. He was used to being around a lot of people...his holiday had consisted of the entire family being at his home for some time.

This was something he COULD handle. Maybe. We'll see.

See. This was exactly as painful as Chloe feared, the moment her colleagues started filtering in to the small work area. This was definitely not conducive to being productive and the ginger ordinarily would have complained, but she was exhausted. She also probably would have demanded a bonus for having to put up with such work conditions, but again, other things on her mind.

"Hello Vickers," The ginger greeted of her coworker (who handled apparition things and I'm sure didn't appreciate the tight work spaces anymore than she did) "Evan," she nodded politely, as the man questioned of their boss on to how much longer they would have to endure this; definitely in a much nicer tone than she'd have used but then again, he likely wasn't on hormonal overload.

"Lynley, do you think there's anyplace in quiet I may have word with you?" Chloe said chewing on her bottom lip. Surely the rest of staff would know, eventually, but she needed to inform Lynley first. And seeing how they were all in close quarters, well that made things . . . challenging, to say the least, in terms of private conversations.

Well, that was the million galleon question, wasn't it, Evan? Lynley sighed. "I think a while, unfortunately," she scoffed. "These people I hired are taking forever. But they said with our funds...it's just...hard." Since the renovation wasn't coming out of pocket, and was coming out of the Level's budget, she didn't think she could blame them. It was...not a lot to go off of. Lynley thought she might have to end up handing over some of her own money. The level really needed a makeover!

Umm.

Okay, Chloe.

"We can go...in the corridor?" she asked gently. "Is everything okay, Chloe?" The girl didn't LOOK okay. She looked sick. Did she always look sick? She couldn't remember.

Ugggh.

Every day Gabby hoped that the construction in the office would be over with because it was just way too much for her to deal with. Everything was gross and smelled like paint which she really didn't need in her life. Lynley was lucky that her friend loved her and had an excellent work ethic because otherwise she would quit. Not really, but still...

"Ugh, you really need to fire whoever is doing this construction and hire people who actually know how to work," she said to her boss as soon as she saw her. "Hello by the way. How are things with you and the little guy?" Even though they talked a lot, it was good to keep up to date with everything. Gabby actually cared about Lynley's life.

"Hey, Chloe and Vickers." Trying to be sociable at work. Look at her go. She even put a smile on her face to be civil. Well, she supposed that they weren't so bad... Some of the people in this Department were full blown idiots.

That wasn't at all the reply he had been hoping for. He definitely knew and understood the trouble with having to do things on a very strict budget. With several older teens/adult children, two toddlers and babies on the way this guy knew what it meant when it came to money. Not that he was going to voice any of this to anyone as he was very sure they didn't need to hear about his home, though he was sure they knew he was wife was pregnant again. "I see. Well let's just hope that some type of miracle happens and they finish up sooner." One could only hope right now.

He smiled politely at Chloe when she returned the greeting stepping to the side to allow her and Gabby room to go speak. Being in such closed off spaces meant having to move around others quite often.

Evan nodded once at Gabby when she joined them inside the office room. "Hello to you too Gabby," he greeted in a slightly playful manner. "How's the little ones?"

So it turned out trying to figure out what the right wording was for telling your boss you were going to need a few weeks off? Well, that was way difficult. Thankfully her thoughts were distracted a moment when Gabby came in suggesting they fire the construction crew. She'd lay down some galleons of her own if it meant she got some more air again. "Hi Gabby," she forced out hastily, as she turned back towards Lynley who suggested the corridor.

"It's about as good as anyplace, I guess." Chloe shrugged, and didn't answer when Lynley asked if everything was okay. WHAT kind of question was that?! In the going on three years she'd been here, she'd never been one to really ask much of her boss or anyone really, so obviously if everything was okay, she wouldn't be asking to speak to her, in private.

Without waiting for Lynley, she led the way out into the corridor, trusting her boss would be soon after.

Lynley siiiiiighed at Gabby. "I know. I should but...they're going as fast as they can. And since we opened back up for the year...they can only work at night so as to not disturb us." It was...a pity, really. And they were the cheapest renovation people she could find. So you got what you paid for, clearly. "Wyatt is good!" she said with a deep breath. "He is still...very attached to me. I fear that starting school in the fall will be too much for him," she admitted. But her son HAD to get an education. There was no question about that.

She nodded at Evan. "I know, I know. Lets keep our fingers crossed." And try not to hex anyone in the meantime, yeah?

But it seemed like Chloe really wanted to talk. So Lynley excused herself. But they would be back shortly!

The fact that his boss seemed just as displeased with the departments current work arrangements as well as the length of time it's taking the workers to complete the renovations was somewhat comforting. At least they were all on the same page now with all of this.

Evan looked at Gabby and nodded his head. "That's all we can do. With any luck they'll complete what's left in a timely manner." Until then he would just have to continue to keep his cool. Everyone would. Thankfully he wasn't like his teen self anymore and could handle being in cramped places with people...most of the time. Sometimes his temper got the best of him as it did most people. For now he was alright.

Moving around his fellow co-workers the dark haired man moved to his tiny cubicle. Sitting down at his chair he added removed from an inside pocket on his robes a new photo of his twins. They were rolling around on a small rub with his older daughter Hady's crup. There was laughter and pure enjoyment in this happy photo and it always made him smile.

How in Merlin's Beard had she missed Evan???

Gabby shook her head. "I'm sorry about that, I clearly am losing my mind working in a dump like this." Basically she was hating every moment of construction going on here even if she could kind of understand what Lynley was saying. Still didn't like it, however... "Well, here is hoping that they finish before we are old ladies." Seriously. These people were way too slow!!! "I can't believe the little guy will be starting school so soon. I know exactly how you feel, but it's for the best." Even if it would be upsetting to see, the boy needed to get used to spending time away from his mom and with other people.

Anyway she was stepping outside with Chloe. Whatever that was about, Gabby didn't care too much since it didn't involve her.

Speaking about her kids, however, did. "Oh, they are great! Growing way too fast. I can't believe that my babies aren't really babies anymore." Well, Liana was one, but STILL. She was going to be a toddler soon. "How are yours doing?" It was only polite to ask.

Being in such a crowded work spot, after the holidays when tension is high Evan didn't mind that Gabby hadn't taken notice of him at first. It happened. He did turn his blue eyes onto her and gave her a light grin. "It's quite alright, no harm done." If the situation had been an important one rather then just a greeting it may have been different but it wasn't.

The dark haired man looked up from the current papers on his desk and turned his swivel chair around to face Gabby again. He laughed softly because he heard that line often. The babies aren't really babies anymore. Boy did he know that feeling. "We should have the children meet sometime. See if they get along." The twins needed to be more social with other children and not just themselves and family. "They're doing well. Nearly two and a half now, so high energy all the time." Not to mention the wife having three more which was sure to make him go insane soon enough.

Evan was just superior to Connor in every way. While Conner would have been rude and insulting, Evan was always so nice. It was clear to Gabby which man was better to have in Addi's life, and it was definitely her brother. Well, if her friend wanted to be married to a jerk so be it as long as he didn't cause any trouble for her. Pleased, she sent the man a smile. They were all going crazy with the state of the office, but there wasn't anything to be done about it at the moment. Unfortunately.

Seemed like now was a good time to get started on that paperwork. With a sigh, she took a seat at her desk. Gabby LIKED to work, but she preferred doing it in a better environment than... this. Still, she was going to do everything asked of her and then some because she totally dominated when it came to the workforce. "I think that's a great idea. Now that Liana is older and it's easier for her to play with others." It was important for them to socialize, and now was a good time to start. Or well, whenever Evan wanted to do this. "I can imagine. I know how you and your wife feel." While the girls weren't twins, they were less than a year apart. So yes, she knew what it was like to have two babies at the same time.

If Evan had any clue as to what Gabby truly thought of his brother-in-law he would have laughed. There was a time when his attitude was very much like Connor's if not worse back when he was in school. Over the years he had settled down and changed his ways, most of which he would say was thanks to raising Hadleigh. Raising children did that to a person.

Evan settled his attention on his paperwork for the moment checking dates, times and other important facts. If he focused on just the work at task it was possible to block out the fact that he was so very close to everyone else...at least right now. "That was my thought exactly. Luna and Lukas are very good with other children but mostly they have one another to play with." So giving them time to make friends was perfect. It was never to early to foster young friendships. He laughed softly nodding his head. "Having children close in age has it's perks but it takes a toll on you as well sometimes." Two was good but adding three more into the mix was when it was really going to start getting tough.

It really must be hard for Evan with all those young children, but somehow he always came in being cheerful and not complaining. Another thing in his favour over Connor.

Ugh, Gabby needed to stop thinking about that idiot, or she would be too angry to get any work done; that was how much she hated him - he made her too mad to do anything. It was a problem, but hopefully she would never see him when she saw Addi. Wishful thinking, because that was very unlikely to happen... Sighing to herself, she began working on filling out a form that needed doing. It seemed that she was spending half her life filling out forms, but then she was irritated now because she had been thinking about stupid Connor and his big head.

"It's the same thing with my girls, but then they are so close in age that it makes sense." Not twins or anything, but less than a year apart. "How are they adjusting to new siblings coming in? How are YOU adjusting?" Triplets... the thought of that made Gabby shiver. Yeah, she wasn't having multiples if she could help it. Unfortunately twins ran in the family.

Evan's attitude had changed many years ago. Around the summer before his seventh year the change slowly started to happen, he became more compassionate, happy. He listened first and then made decisions. It had been a slow process and he had fallen into his old ways many times but as the years went on and he got older, married, adopted Hadleigh and then divorced, remarried and had more kids it got easier. All the children kept his him on his toes but better yet, they all opened his eyes to the world.

Family was the reason he worked for hard now-a-days. Most of his kids were grown but a good handful still would be depending on him for quite some years yet. His attention was on the papers in front of them and getting everything filled out as it should be in as timely a manner as possible.

"That happens when children are so close in age. At least they have one another." They wouldn't be growing up a lone. That had happened when he had taken in Hady. He had never meant for her to be an only child but now she wasn't. "Good, I think. I'm not sure they fully grasp what's happening but they know something is going on." It was going to be a big change for them all. The twins had been a large change in his life and really triplets weren't to much different...expect he already had the twins. So five children under the age of three was bound to take it's toll. "The best a father can adjust I think. There's a lot of rearranging happening at the house to make sure everyone has their own space." Changes meant money and time. Time he was running out of. It was a good thing the older children were such a large help.

One of the things that Gabby liked about Evan was the fact that he wasn't an idiot. He also had a realistic way of looking at things. "Very true, though of course we are trying to socialize them with other children." That was something that got easier as the little ones were older. At any rate they were trying their best and Valeria and Liana would continue to be the most amazing children ever, as well as becoming the life of the part. Of this she was completely sure; how could they not be given their parents?

"Well, I am glad that you and the little ones are adjusting as well as you can. I can always help if needed." It wasn't often that Gabby offered to help anyone who wasn't family, so Evan should feel honoured by this. Wasn't she just the most considerate person ever?

Socializing his children with other children wasn't a complete failure as his sister had a young child but seeing as to how that is family, Evan didn't count it as much. He wanted his little ones to be socialized with lots of different children of all ages so that they would know how to act and cope in different situations. "I know what you mean." As a parent all he could do was continue what he had been doing and hope for the best. He had raised one child that was absolutely amazing so the man was sure he could do the same five more times.

"Once the babies are here and we learn their temperaments and get them on as best of a schedule as we can things should be alright." Already having children he knew quite well that this wasn't always the case and with it being three babies it was going to take awhile. Wishful thinking never hurt any either and they would be having a lot of help. Speaking of help, Evan gave Gabby a thankful smile at her offer. He didn't know her extremely well but well enough to know she didn't get along with most people and certainly didn't always offer to help them either. "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." Playdates for the twins would be help enough though.

Smile. Of course he knew what she meant; everyone should because Gabby was always right. She also needed to continue with this paperwork despite the distraction... Not like she couldn't multitask or anything, so this wasn't any real concern. "We should have our kids be friends. And I also plan to do that with Addi's children too." There had been plans for play-dates, and she was not going to let Connor get in the way between the children becoming friends.

"Well, hopefully they will be calm and good tempered babies." Because the opposite would be VERY bad for sanity levels. "Well, of course! I can babysit or whatever." Yeah, he had family, but they weren't always available. Gabby was being the most friendly person in the world right now.

If being a father of young children taught anyone anything, it was how to multitask. So it was no surprise to him that both himself as well as Gabby were continuing with their days paperwork and assignments while speaking to one another. This was very mild multitasking if anyone asked him. About their children all being friends though, he was very much game for that. "I agree completely. It would benefit all our children to have friends they can grow up with." His children were already very close with Addi's but they were cousins so that was different.

That right there was the understatement of the world! "I can only hope. My oldest was the sweetest little girl. She never had to be told anything...it was like she just knew what was expected." It was hard to believe Hadleigh was almost nineteen and in Uni already. "Would you be able to handle more little ones on top of your two babies?" he was teasing really but also being a bit serious. One baby could be a handful but when there was several and they weren't all your own things could go very badly, very fast.

Wonderful. It sounded as if they were in agreement on having their children be friends. And seeing as Evan had quite a few children, that meant quite a few friends for the girls. On top of the ones that they would make in Addi's children of course. "Oh yes, and I can't believe that soon enough they will be growing big. Already they are so much more grown up than they were as newborns." It made her sad seeing that, but there was also excitement; she couldn't wait to see how they developed and which parent they took more after. Regardless they would always be flawless.

Aah, the oldest. Gabby remembered her being mentioned a few times. She was now Graduated from Hogwarts and moving on with her life. "Well, hopefully her siblings will be the same way. I am sure that she will be a good influence on them." Family was like that, and hopefully the children will turn out great. "I can handle anything," she added with a smirk knowing full well that he was teasing her. Really it WAS true; she could do anything.

The more friends the better is how he felt about it. Of course his children in the end would have a say on whom they were all friends with but there was nothing wrong with fostering early socialization skills. "Tell me about it," he sighed nodding his head in agreement. "It's hard to believe they grow up so quickly but they do. In the blink of an eye they're walking, talking, going to school..." Time flies right by.

Evan jotted down a few more lines on the paperwork he was currently working on. Last thing he needed was Lynley getting on their case about not working or something. "She already is. Every chance she gets she spends time with them." It was harder now with her working, in Uni and living away from home but she tried. He chuckled quietly. "Something tells me that's very true."

Well, Evan was certainly an expert on this matter, having a daughter who was officially in university. Gabby liked to think that she was an expert as well despite the fact that her children were not nearly as old. She was always correct and knew what she was talking about when it came to any subject. With a smile she finished the page she had been working on and moved to the next bit of paperwork; Lynley would never be disappointed with her. "How do you get ready for them to go to school? I don't have to worry about that for a while, but just the thought of my babies leaving makes me sad." It wouldn't be so bad if the girls could come back home daily, but it was obviously impossible as they'd be off to boarding school.

Good to hear that the little ones had a nice big sister. Gabby herself was the oldest, and had been the best influence on her siblings. No one could be better than her, though Evan's daughter would surely be doing a fine job of it. "That's good to hear. What is she studying again?" Something in law enforcement? As to the next matter, obviously it was very true. No need to dispute that. "Tell that to your brother-in-law." The hatred there was completely mutual.
