Once bidden to enter, you find yourself in a large spacious room with floor to ceiling windows with drapes framing them along one wall. The walls are of a dark reddish brown colour, with bookshelves along one wall and paintings along another. A plush off-white sofa sits under a large painting of the Battle of Hogwarts, with two leather chairs to compliment the sofa on either side.

A nice mahogany colour, large, wooden desk sits in front of two floor two ceiling bookcases. Two small chairs sit in front of it. A few picture frames are on the corners of the desk, one holds Becca and him at their wedding, the other holds their four children Torie, James, Norah and Emma. The bookshelves that line the walls are of 20th century books. A few current titles appear on them, but his collection there isn't as broad.

A beautiful ornate rug covers the floor and a few plants dot the room, that is filled with lots of natural light, as well as a few lights in the ceiling.

He had looked everywhere. Everywhere except Gid’s office. Ryden’s amusement slowly turned into annoyance as he went back to his desk and searched all the nook and cranny of his cubicle. By habit, the Foreign Relations Officer made it a point to pack extra clothes, just in case things go wrong while at work. The last time he checked his clothes in a tightly sealed muggle ziplock, everything was in place except for the little prank he overlooked. Jace had switched something in his plastic bag...obviously wanting a little revenge from the prank he did two terms ago while waiting to board the Hogwarts Express. As a father, Ryden found it hilarious to have the tables turned around, but since it had gone missing, Ryden became worried.

The man made up his mind, and walked up to Gidyun’s door. After making a few knocks, and no answer after, Ryden turned the door handle and took a peek inside his boss’ space. Seeing that nobody’s inside, Ryden showed himself in and started to look for his missing item without touching anything.

Where is that blasted Pikachu?!

Gid was walking through the department coming from a meeting from the minister's office when he reached to turn the knob and found the door already open. Blinking he looked around him. No, he never left his door open unless he was inside the room! Nah, he was just being paranoid, of course he left it open and just hadn't realized. Taking a step inside though he still peered around him to see if anything was out of place or anyone was inside.

He felt stupid when he said 'Hello?' Because he certainly wasn't expecting for anyone or anything to answer!

Hands on his waist, Ryden turned and his face fell when he got red handed. "Gid! Merlin, I am so sorry about entering your office without permission..." he started, scratching his forehead with worry. "I didn't touch anything though so no worries." he said raising up both of his hands and gave his boss a sheepish smile.

"I...well, misplaced something..." did he actually? "Er...misplace isn't the right word...somehow, one of my personal belongings had gone missing. Poof. Disappeared from my locked drawer." Ryden is pretty sure he's an eloquent guy, but as of the moment words aren't exactly coming to him in a nice, diplomatic way. Like, how would he explain to his boss that he lost his spare knickers? His Pikachu knickers? And...why would it actually be in Gid's office right?

Not that his boss is interested on wearing a similar kind...

It was MISSING! Her little black book of secrets vol.13 was missing! How can it possibly be missing with all the spells that she put in place to secure it?? Not to mention the book itself had wards all over it that nobody would even be able to lift it out of its little hidey hole...

Heels clicking loudly and purposefully, Regina swings open the door to Gidyun's office, dark eyes blazing "Mister Yenorin...." she declared, as if her boss doesnt know his own name. And Ryden who she always found good looking isnt even getting a second look this time, yes she is that secretly panicked under all that smouldering anger "My personal territory has been breached. Something of immense value has been stolen!"

Gid finally headed for his office again to finish sorting things out to get them all ready for the change of department head. He'd caught Charles before he left the meeting to let him know he'd like to speak with him when he had a chance. He had no idea where he was going from here, though it'd be nice if he did. He was looking forward to a change but it was frustrating because there was no definites on his part yet, let alone who was taking his place.

He needed to make sure that at least one person in the department knew the changes. He'd have called Greg in as well but hadn't seen him. Charles would just have to ensure they knew as well.

Following Gidyun into his office once he'd gotten his notebook, Charles straightened his tie and watched his soon-to-be ex-boss walking behind his desk. Without even checking if it was okay, the man sat down in his usual chair and looked at Gidyun expectantly. "What can I do for you?" he asked softly. He couldn't even muster up the same amount of vehemence he usually had in his voice when Gidyun was asking him to do something.

He turned as he heard a sound behind him seeing Charles following him. Well that made it easier! He dropped into his chair as well, ugh what a morning. "I wanted to make sure that at least either you or Greg was aware of a few changes in the department. I have no idea who is taking my place though I hope it's someone from our department I have no way of ensuring that."

He sat back in his chair a little, the two of them hadn't exactly been on the best of terms, "I sometimes regret the decision to go but...I think it's time for a new face to head the department."

Nodding at Gidyun's words, Charles leant forward a little. "Okay, and you want me to ensure that everything goes smoothly and that whomever is new has support?" he asked softly, looking at him. When Gidyun spoke about regret, Charles finally cracked a smile. The first one he'd ever let anyone at his job see. "You'd regret not moving on if it really is time. We'll miss you." he looked into his boss' eyes. "I hope you stay around."

"I really would. I trust all of you to be able to run this department without me, and training a new person in might be a hassle but at least I know it's in good hands." He saw the smile and was surprised but smiled back at him "I really hope I will, too. That's the plan. I'll miss the work here and all of the employees, it's been a great 11 years here." His eyes had met Charles' as well.

"We have a few changes that are taking place. As you are aware Cynthia has been gone for quite some time, she's going to be replaced as Division head by Regina Roa."

Charles nodded, hoping that they would all be able to come together as a team and support whomever got the job. "Wow, has it been that long?" Charles asked, looking surprised. "Gosh..." He should really look at his birth certificate and work out his age again. He must be getting closer to death retirement by now. Then, he couldn't really see himself retiring. He loved working too much.

"Of course. Does Miss Roa know what to do? Have you filled her in yet or would you like me to make sure she knows what she's doing?" Anything he could do to help! Of course he'd be there to support her if she needed it too. That went without saying.

"Surprisingly enough it has." he replied nodding "That means you've been here 10 years yourself." Dang....they err...oops "Sorry about that." he wrinkled his nose "Probably should have a 10 year anniversary thing..." he murmured.

"Mostly, I need to go over a few things, but the office is emptied out for her now at least. Unfortunately the division is emptying a bit, as a number of them went on holiday and leave." Merlin, so many people just disappearing and saying I'll be back soon! Really? They were already getting nearly a month holiday!

"Two other changes, well at least one. Ryden is taking over as Japan's Consulate and I'm hoping that Dmitry will consider taking Asia's consulate." he glanced at his desk and shook his head "No response on Dmitry yet, he wanted a change of pace and I thought he might be good there as he speaks a bit of Russian and lived there for a time as well."

"It's okay. Ten years is nothing when you're my age." Mhmm. At least it showed his loyalty to the Ministry. Mhmm. "Don't worry about it." He didn't want to make a thing over it.

Charles nodded again, gazing at Gid as he spoke. "Okay. I'll offer to help her move into the office. I have seen that people have gone missing from the office. I can't understand why they would do that." Hmmm. He wouldn't have liked to say okay to them.

"Okay." That was simple enough. "If he won't take it, I'll cover it. I speak a fair few languages and I've added to my repertoire again." Oh yeaaahhhhh. "I'll make sure everything is taken care of no matter what." He promised.

He smiled a little at him and nodded "Believe me you don't need to tell me that. It's just a number to me now, the only thing I need to try and remember is what century we're in" he added with a snort.

"I'd appreciate that. It's unreal how many people we go through here. Some we hire before the holidays and then they never do show up even for a single day of work." Why people did that he couldn't understand. The British ministry was so much better than many other places she'd worked in, or even from just a hundred years prior!

"That's brilliant!" he said nodding his eyes lighting up a little "It's a bit much to cover consulate for too many areas and considering the area but we'll just have to see how it plays out. I think he's getting burnt out in the security position and wants a change of pace and to do more traveling."

"Well you're not THAT old yet." Charles replied mirthfully. Seriously, the man wasn't that old. Though he supposed he'd lived twice as hard in his time with who his wife was. Heh.

"It's okay. 'There's nowt as queer as folk', as people from Yorkshire say." Charles nodded. "People can make funny decisions." Heh. He had made his fair share of them and enjoyed every single one.

"I know, but I'll make sure it's covered. I might just duplicate myself and let the duplicates do the work while I refuel on coffee." he laughed softly, shaking his head. "We'll get it all worked out in the end."

"Nah maybe not but....I was born in 1979." he said with a shrug. That didn't much bother him really, not anymore anyway. "So remembering the century is a good thing." Heh, just reminding himself no death eaters were around anymore was fun some days.

He laughed softly and nodded "I agree there, sometimes they just don't see what is good when it's right in front of them."

"I really appreciate that." he said honestly "And believe me I've thought of doing that myself."

"I did think you were going a little grey around the sides." Charles commented with amusement. "I'm sure you've been secretly dying your hair." At least he wasn't going blonde?

"Never mind, it's their loss. We'll just work a bit harder." No biggie. "I can imagine." Charles snickered. "I'm sure people will stop up when they need to."

He snorted and shrugged "I've had grey hairs since I was like 20 something." Ever since he had that damn accident with the time turner. That's what they got for messing around with trying to create them once again. "Nah, wouldn't do that, I kind of like the grey, makes a person look wiser." HEH!

He nodded in agreement "It is." He smirked though at his comment and nodded again.

Charles laughed softly. "If you say so." He wasn't the oldest, but he was the boss. "What does Becca think of the grey?" Hmmmm?

Gid snorted though at the question about Becca. "Well we try avoid talking about that." Yeaaaaah and avoid mentioning 'old man' but heh, she tended to enjoy calling him that...

Laughing again, Charles shook his head. "I can't imagine her not saying something to save your feelings." he grinned, but then became more serious. "Do you know what you're hoping to do yet?" he asked softly.

He snickered but nodded "Well. I guess you can only take a guess there then." Heh, Charles knew Becca a little too well. His face changed to thoughtful "I would like to get back out there as an auror, but A&C was fun too. I can't say I'd ever want to go back to Mysteries though for obvious reasons. I just want to get back out there in the field. I don't like being mainly with paperwork and office stuff. I enjoy it yes but...I'd rather be out there more."

Charles nodded, understanding. "Yes, I do understand. I have never felt the pull of the action." Yep. He much preferred sitting behind his desk and conversing with people in whatever language the other person spoke. "You'll miss the other languages, though." Charles nodded.

He nodded again "I miss being out there, I don't think the other languages will be missed though. I still love to travel, Becca's kind of got me to stay in one place more now. But before I settled down I traveled a lot, and we take the kids on holiday a lot and travel a bit ourselves too. But I'll miss it I'm sure to an extent."

He smiled, but nodded. "Yeah, I'm surprised Becca wanted to stay in one place. She likes to be out and about more than normal people." Heh. "It'll be awful not travelling on the job though." Meh. He'd miss that.
