At this rate, she could have disappeared from the table and not been missed, had one of the other MLE members chosen to acknowledge her presence. As more wands had gotten scanned, she’d given him a nod. Simon, she thought. Working the front desk on Level One had its advantages after all. She saw when MLE made their rounds, and he had certainly seemed to make more than some. “We do,” she agreed. “That doesn’t change my feelings about actually being late, however.” Not when it might make things known long before she wanted them to be.
Which, seemed even more possible as the next person who had appeared at the table was the one she’d seen that very morning as she’d tried to figure out what to wear. She raised an eyebrow slightly at Gregory as he’d spoken, merely because the formality seemed as if it had been meant to disguise things yet seemed like it was much too obvious not to make people suspicious. She was at a table staffed nearly entirely by MLE after all. They were apt to suspect things, had they been paying attention. Alexa certainly seemed otherwise occupied, but there were others.
“Of course,” she replied after a moment. She could always hope no one read too much into what seemed glaringly obvious to her, that they knew each other. She didn’t mind if people knew they were dating, really, but making it seem as if it was illicit made her uncomfortable. Her identity wasn’t exactly a mystery anyhow, since practically all Ministry-wide memos went through her. If anything, her name ought to be a known fact, whether or not he was the first to call her as such. It was how he’d said it, not to mention the smirk and then the grin. He had to know he was treading a dangerous line with that.
A woman after his own thoughts...one that appeared to take great pride in her work...and disappointed by her own tardiness. Take note YATI...a good role model to follow. Not that he was going to tell them that. Or make a big deal about it since it didn't need to be blown up into something else. So instead Simon simply nodded in acceptance of her own words and let her just handle the tasks she needed to do. Besides he had his next customer to handle at the wand weigher.
SPOILER!!: Logan, Lynley, Aron

Is it safe?"
SPOILER!!: Simon, Aron, Lynley
In Logan’s eyes the brunette in the colourful dress was after hearing and seeing her reaction to his medallions clearly the last person he should have approached with his precious medallions but he couldn’t exactly do anything about that now. She seemed to be the impersonation of the wicked witch of the west in the bed time stories his mother had read to him when he was younger and that never boded well. The woman was rude and cold but hopefully not evil. It was wise to tread cautiously regardless.
Deciding to answer the rude woman and the man by her side Logan spoke in his own defence eyes glancing from one to the other. "I created these medallions with the help of a skilled charms developer during my previous employment as junior obliviator for the French Ministry of Magic. All the medallions have been tested by charms experts at the French ministry and have been found to be completely safe, regulated and free of curses."
Eyes resting on the brunette he added fighting to keep his calm. "I would never ever bring anything evil to my new work place. And to suggest that I would try to infiltrate this ministry is absurd. I’m here to start my new job as Obliviator on level 3 which my big sister Hazel can attest as well as Margret." In his head he added. If I had wanted to infiltrate a place like this I certainly wouldn’t have done it by raising attention to myself.
"These medallions are just charmed to give better protection for example if you run into a shady character when you head home and struggle to find your wand. With just one word you could get the medallion to make it seem like you are surrounded by a pack of howling wolves, which in a tight spot can be pretty handy. But honestly the medallions are harmless and just for a bit of fun. There is nothing evil or sinister about them."
SPOILER!!: Big sisters and Simon
Before Logan could say anything else his big sisters sort of came to his defence in their own unique ways. Hazel even took the liberty of introducing him to everyone. He wasn’t sure if that aided or made everything worse for him. Extracting two more medallions he handed one to Hazel and the other to Mammy.
As he gave Mammy hers, he leaned in to whisper quietly. "You got one with a skull motif that you like. Just don’t show it around." If she did it was highly possible with these people who took this way more serious than it was and turn it into something really bad.
Accepting the medallion back from the man who had joined in to inspect the necklace Logan commented to him. "That is true. I however only wanted to combine something pretty with something useful." Taking a step toward Hazel and Mammy he said to the group surrounding him in general. "I'm sorry if I caused any offence. I had just created something nice to look at that I had charmed to be useful and that I wanted to show off and giveaway. I really meant no harm and the medallions are truly harmless themselves. I just wanted to do something fun on my first day." Logan was wise enough to know when it was high time to apologize to people and instead of burying his head in the sand.

Hmph.
"Chopped flobberworms can be quite useful in some potions." She said dryly in response. "Lynley Purcell, new Transportation head." She said as she....briefly introduced herself to the girl. It was good to get her name out there...she didn't expect anyone to ooh and aaaah over her job title...but it WAS her job title, so there.
Regardless, Lynley wasn't going to pass judgment on this one just yet. Plus, this other person...this...medallion toting person...needed Lynley's attention, clearly.
What was the French Ministry UP to, anyways? Lynley disproved. Very much so. She side eyed quite a bit..."Oh. YOU developed them? How...interesting. I'm interested in charms myself..." which was the truth. She squinted at a medallion. "I suppose I could entertain the idea of taking one..." Just to be nice. That would nice of her. See, Lynley could have nice thoughts.
Oh, but here he went. Off on a......rant about being noble, blah blah, etc etc. Lynley had to suppress an eye roll. Sigh. "Thank you for the life story." She said......she tried to keep the sarcasm from her tone. Tried. "I'd like one, I guess. Are you just handing them out for free?" Hmm? Because Lynley didn't want to pay for one, but if it was for sale..she'd buy it.
Was she trying too hard to seem...accepting of these new people at her new job? Maybe. She was definitely withholding a lot of sass right now. And she had yet to find one person she wouldn't hate to have lunch with...
Alas.
Was she doomed to dine alone at her new job?

Aron couldn't agree with Simon more, especially after hearing the description that new Obliviator gave about it. Holy holly what DID go on in the French Ministry? That was where Roxanne had transferred to, yeah?
Go figure.
Mary. Margaret. Sure. Whatever she wanted. He was still dumbfounded by this whole medallion business and just barely managed to nod his head in acknowledgement of her correction.
"You can keep it," he informed Simon as he took a step away from the man. He literally had no use the glorified daydream charm. Maybe Simon could use it as a paperweight or something. Scare people away from his desk by activating that Daydream Charm.
And the Australian didn't do...pretty.
Attention briefly on another woman who had spoken to him, Hazel . "Welcome back," he greeted. "You ought to tell your brother to stop letting Mammy practice her skills on his brain." Just some pseudo-friendly unsolicited advice for you all.
And it seemed the drama continued. This was most definitely his cue to officially leave. A sass-off between a YATI, looking to prove herself, and a new department head, also looking to prove herself, was not the place he wanted to be.
Cambridge as a babysitter? Seren had often spoken fondly of her, so perhaps that could be a real possibility. "I'll keep that in mind," he winked before taking his leave and finally heading towards orientation proper.
Food. That needed to happen. Food and drink.
Simon listened as the originator of the medallions explained about them and how they came to be. He had to admit, the story made him less concerned about them, even if nothing had shown up anyway to raise an alare which cleared them to. In all honesty he had been doing his job, not getting excited about them like the newly establushed department head that the man was defending himself with. Neither he nor Aron had done anything truly negative in reaction just inquired about them for various reasons.
At least Lynley was good natured after the whole explanation.
"I assure you...no offense was given," the security man remarked to the man. "Its more be proactive and curious about what passes through the doors of the ministry. " Sometimes even the most harmless items had caused trouble over the years. Getting the medallion back from Aron who didn't want it, he absently decided to keep it, if only for further reference for security to be aware of.
"Surely you would understand that sometimes one needs to simply look into things." In the wizarding world, there was always the possible case of things being not always what they seem. "And I meant no offense to you, just doing my job." A job he took quite seriously thank you very much.

The New YATI? He nodded, "That's right." Giving a little salute as his heels clicked together at attention stance, "New YATI Auror Trainee, reporting for duty." Okay, so he may have wanted to do that for a while and there was the possibility on that not being meant to be done here. But oh well, it was now out of his system as he went back to his relaxed stature earlier. "Is there anything else you need, sir?" For extra proof or what not.
The young man answered Lex's question first which in part half confirmed his own thoughts on his position. His comments also made Simon aware of the extent the two of them knew each other. Not just passing acquaintances that might of met on the street sometime. Ah...he was the new YATI. Score one for the security man trying to keep track of all the names of people that he met on a daily basis.
"Nice to meet you then," he commented after the salute from the other man. "Simon Bennett...security. I'm sure we'll see each other back in the office." The two divisions did share one after all. "And no...it all checks out," he assured Luc, handing back his wand once the wand weigher returned it.

He eyed his wand in her hands warily, a distinct frown now added to his clenched jaw. What a nightmare of a girl this person was!
And THEN she had to nerve to suggest he would have better luck with women without his glasses! He was just about to tell her off entirely, grab his wand and proceed to his appropriate floor without this idiotic requirement when she grabbed. his. glasses. Before he could blink, she had taken his glasses from atop his nose and began to inspect them for herself, though of course he COULDN'T SEE THIS NOW. Lysander's now exposed eyes widened in horror at this act of supreme cruelty and barely registered her words as she introduced herself as Lex. The whole world suddenly became a more threatening mass of vague shapes and colors, he could hardly recognize his own two hands as he steadied himself by laying them flat on the counter which separated them. He never took his glasses off in public, not ever, rarely a once in his entire adult life. Mostly because he, you know, needed them!
Oh, now he was annoyed.
"Listen, Lex," he started, his voice dripping with a surprising darkness. "I don't know how this works for you normally, perhaps the majority of idiots that approach this counter enjoy being bullied out of their personal belongings. But I am not among them." His deep voice was indeed threatening, and yet there was clear panic in his facial expression. He was practically blind without his glasses, and yet of course wouldn't admit that. But it was relatively obvious in the way his exposed eyes didn't quite settle on her face but rather rested just past her left shoulder, assuming he was looking in the correct direction. Indeed, the girl was right about him -- once revealed, his green eyes were a relatively pretty sight, the darkest green with just the tiniest flecks of gold. And though still large and round, they weren't nearly as alarming or bug-like as they were behind the frames. His exposed porcelain face, though technically nice to look at, was clenched in an expression of deep distaste, his large eyebrows furrowed.
"Give. Them. Back. Now."
Closer inspection told her that these things were absolutely HUGE. Huger than when they'd been on his face. Was that even possible? Lex turned them over and over in her hand, held them up to look through them then went back to turning them over and over. For a moment the man was all but forgotten...until she remembered the point was to see his face.
Ah yes, now she remembered.
Lex dropped his glasses next to the wand, faaaar from where his hands had rested then turned to look at him again with a grin. COULD HE TELL SHE WAS GRINNING??? "Would you look at that, you aren't half bad to look at even with a personality that sucks doxy eggs. Don't worry, lots of girls don't really wanna talk and don't really wanna have deep conversations anyway. They'd never need to know you could make manticores cry." Just take her cousin for instance! Arisa didn't truly care about a single word that left a man's mouth.
She might have gone on giving her world class famous advice but then he...was calling her a bully? What now? "I'm not bullying you. Don't be such a pansy. It's called taking an active interest in your well-being and I think someone needs to but clearly it won't be you."
Her face contorted into a rather stubborn look then. Brows set, eyes locked, arms folded. Give them back? "I'm gonna have to ask you to make me. Could accio them. Oh wait. I took your wand too. Guess you'll have to ask nicely and start being a little more friendly or go without." His choice. She would let him think it through for a moment while she got this next visitor.

It was only when someone else said that they could confirm that SHE was in fact Olly Clarke, that she looked to the employees doing the security checks. OOoh. HELLO! At this she eventually sidestepped the weird guy (Peri) and moved up to stand in front of Lex. "Hey." And Penelope too, wow. "Hi." She was surrounded. Sort of. That was good though, yeah? It meant she actually knew people working here too. Not that she was particularly close with either of them – maybe Lex more than Penelope – but it was something.
They definitely had got on at school so.
Handing over her wand, Olly glanced at the guy again. "Call St. Mungo's maybe." It wasn't like SHE'd been asked for her opinion but she felt the need to offer it anyway. Weirdoooooooo.
Alexa took the wand when it was offered and turned to place it in the machine before going to rejoin the conversation. Dude was an absolute creep if he went around stealing names and as much as she was meant to be upset or even annoyed at the whole thing and how much it would set her back, Lex found herself excited. What if they actually got to arrest him? How cool would that be??
"We could do that too." She mused in relation to Olly's suggestion. "That's the place for nuts and loons anyhow...but I dunno." The young woman took a step back, eyeing him up and down. "Reckon I'd prefer locking him down in one of our holding cells, see how long it takes him to crack and start screaming about his rights." Kinda like that lady from Mysteries. Hadn't taken her all that long in truth. That woman was just a little too high strung. Must have been all the coffee.
"Oh, before I forget." Lex raised her wand, levitating another package from the bag. "Starter stuff. You'll find a badge in here and a bunch of other orientation stuff you'll be needing."

While getting through with the wand weighing and pack handing out, Lex couldn't help but notice the guy that stopped to chat with the Level 1 lady. She didn't look all that happy to see him but the feeling obviously wasn't mutual with the way he was talking to and looking at her.
Friends? Half friends? More than friends?
Didn't matter.
"You gonna hand over your wand or not?" She asked him before turning to the lady who'd been harbouring him at the desk without doing any of the necessary checks. "He doesn't go through unless he hands that thing over and he can't linger here either, we have a line to keep moving." Possibly said more for the man than the woman she'd addressed it to but she didn't mean it any less. What would Rainey say if he saw him lounging here? He'd think all the YATIs were slacking off and they most certainly were NOT.

He watched the woman put his wand into the machine as he shifted his weight. The line seemed to be getting longer to at the very least, people were starting to crowd around him more. Adam was not fond of large crowds and not being in possession of his wand made his anxieties worse.
Adam tried to focus on what the female was saying instead of the clusters of people around him. Did she mention fighting crime? “Are you polizei?” he asked thinking of an acquaintance named Jory he had recently met in Diagon Alley. “I have a friend who is – Oarer here.” He blinked quite certain he was still pronouncing that word wrong.
She must have noticed his twitchiness and was mistaking it for fear that someone might jump him or rob him or some other oddity. Adam was used to people thinking him odd. He was about to explain that he was uneasy with the newness of the place and the crowds when the woman began answering his question about wand weighting for him. “Oh,” he responded as he didn’t really know what to say in response to her explanation. She must be bored, Adam thought, since she was going into great detail about the Security check point. Not that he minded; he enjoyed learning.
"I know." It didn't take much to figure that English wasn't his original language. "Where you from? How come you decided to come to England to get a job?" Automatic questions for the young woman when she found there were foreigners up and about. It was kind of like when she met Rhydian and he mentioned being Welsh. Usually the stories behind the move were interesting enough so it was worth asking.
Polizei? Huh. She actually liked that word. Had a nice ring to it. "Yeah..." Lex turned to levitate a pack over to him. "Yeah...you could call us that. Law Enforcement really. I'm a YATI which basically means I'm a trainee Auror--the thing your friend is." She would get to that rank, just another two years and it would be hers. "Who is your friend anyway?" She asked, sliding the package over to him.
"It's pretty standard stuff in there. Orientation package so a badge, some fliers, you know, the works." She would know, earlier they'd been required to put them together before everyone started arriving. "Where are you gonna be working?"

How cool was that? They'd ended up working in the same Department and the same division at that. She'd have never guessed but it was a nice surprise all the same. "Guess I should officially say congratulations and welcome to the team, huh? You're gonna love, especially all the training we get to do if you're into that sort of stuff. Patrols are neat too...until you have to do the paperwork after." She made a face at the mention of paper work, realizing that eve though she'd missed work, she had not missed that and was NOT looking forward to getting back into that.
Lex watched Simon get him processed and tell him he was all clear. Guess that meant he was free to head inside while they were all still stuck out here. Merlin, he was lucky.
"Enjoy the orientation, we'll have pleny of time to catch up after." Both being YATIs would make that very much possible.

The look the woman was giving her had been noted and in it's own way returned though without the ice the older woman's gaze possessed. In the end it was a rather plain gaze in truth, one that marginally spoke to her being thus far unimpressed by this lady that thought it best to look down on the people who were in charge of protecting her life.
Her features loosened into a sort of deadpan at the woman's retort. " 'm not a potion ingredient. I was made for better use than that." To be chopped and ingested, what a life that was.
Lex might have gone on to more but then the woman started introducing herself. Might have said she didn't care til she heard Transportation. That had Lex's face light up remarkable. "So then....if I pretend to be nice to you and let you think I have a lick of manners then I get favours? Like renewing my international apparition license without having to go through all the tedious paper work??"
Yes? YES?
"Aw, lady, why didn't you say so sooner? Name's Lex? You can call me Lex. So listen, I think I'm good for at least another couple months but then it's gonna need taking in and I'm not the type to stick around one continent for too long, y'know what I'm saying?"

Alexa was really into this law enforcement thing huh?
Olly smirked slightly. Locking him in one of the holding cells? Sounded good enough to her. "We have rights?" She joked a little half-heartedly, throwing the guy another rather wary look. Not that she was scared of course. She could handle that guy when push came to shove. Plus, she was surrounded by Law Enforcement people. There was really nothing to worry about.
The only thing that bothered her was the fact that he knew her name???
Starter stuff. Olly looked down at the bag. Right. "Thanks." She was going to take a closer look at the contents of the bag later. Now it was mostly about getting her wand back and you know finally going in.

”Wittlich,” he answered. He paused, then followed up (because usually people had no clue where Wittlich is) – “Germany.” He took the packet that was offered him and opened it enough to riffle through it. It looked like pretty boring stuff really and he wondered what poor sap had to collate all this stuff for the masses. He was just glad it hadn’t been him. Adam’s attention span wouldn’t have been able to focus long enough to complete the job. “I traveled lots. Stopped here and work ws hard to find. A friend said here needed potioneers and so thought, why not?” He was good at potions, although he didn’t try to brag about it. He also figured if he didn’t like it, he could always pack up and continue his Gypsy ways.
“Yeti?” he asked surprised, blue eyes widening and his eyebrows going up. She didn’t look fury, but then, maybe they just called themselves that to sound fierce. He’d have to ask Jory about it later. And speaking of his friend, the girl asked about him. “Jory…” Jory’s last name escaped him and so he fibbed. “I do not know how to pronounce family name…”

Since Archer was still waiting around get what he needed he thought it would be a really good idea to maybe just maybe make some friends. The twenty-eight year old never had a huge problem making new friends or even staying in contact with old friends but it seemed like it would be different and possibly more challenging to do here. Archer waved to a woman who had just walked up to the intake area. "Hello." he simply said to the woman.

Deliah was waiting for her turn when a man waved and said hello to her and said "Hello you must be new to the ministry as i haven't seen you around before" Deliah knew that it was pretty true but she had not been about the ministry much due to illness but she was hoping to make loads of friends and get on with her work now that she wasn't going to be ill ever again
Lysander was beyond incredulous as the girl claimed she wasn't bullying him, right after stealing his glasses (an issue he had faced several times in his childhood with many bullies), and told him he had a personality that sucked doxy eggs! "If this isn't bullying, but rather the common courtesy you show your friends, I have absolutely no desire to ever be within fifty yards of your annoying little being ever again," he countered sharply, his exposed eyes unable to see her but now set into an infuriated glare.
As she suggested he make her give them back, his jaw clenched so intensely it appeared as if steam might begin coming out of his ears any second. "Make you?" he repeated, his voice nearly shaking with anger. "What are you? Five years old?" Who was this girl? It's like she was manufactured to be his direct, infuriating opposite -- his absolute nemesis. And he was only two steps into the ministry! As she suggested he play nice in order to get his glasses back, since she was also holding his wand hostage, Lysander let out a disbelieving scoff which sounded more like a nerdy guffaw. "You are a nightmare," he muttered, not bothering to cover up his voice in the slightest as she moved on to the next person in line.
....
It took Lysander about five straight minutes of silence in which he contemplated several options, all through a solid glare set at Lex's vague form which was all he could see. He could walk away! But...she had his glasses..and his wand. He could demand to see her superior and complain! But...he had no way of visually spotting said superior and if he asked her, there was no chance of her being decent enough to follow his wishes. So what was he to do? All of this computing happened in the first thirty seconds and the rest of his time was spent avoiding the inevitable. Play nice, Lysander. It wasn't the first time he'd heard that request. "LEX," he demanded her attention sharply before clearing his throat. He paused, thinking for a moment before an expression came onto his face that can only be described as a painful grimace. And then, silently, it transformed into what can only be described as a dazzling, sparkling bright white smile. Without his signature glasses and signature scowl, Lysander looked much less like a life-size insect and much more like...like...well, like a charming, handsome young man. He had the slightest smile lines that peeked out underneath striking cheekbones, and for once his curly hair was more of a feature than a detriment, his green eyes all the more visible without the eyewear covering them up. More or less, it's like that thing in a rom-com where the nerdy chick protagonist takes off her glasses and everyone realizes she's hot and might be viable for prom queen.
"Lex, may I have my own private personal property back? All of it." He could sense that he was forgetting something and once he remembered, his face faltered for just a moment before returning, though this time with slight pain behind his concentrated gaze. "Please." Oh dear Merlin, he was going to barf.

The only thing that bothered her was the fact that he knew her name???
Starter stuff. Olly looked down at the bag. Right. "Thanks." She was going to take a closer look at the contents of the bag later. Now it was mostly about getting her wand back and you know finally going in.
A smile appeared at Olly's question, a rather loaded smile that spoke of a certain level of knowing. "You'd be surprised how many they know the moment they get inside one of those things. It gets kinda ridiculous to be honest, then you start wondering why they need all that many in the first place and how many you can infringe on before the boss man yanks you out of there." Always that little line you had to tread carefully around and apparently smacking was never allowed.
Go figure.
Lex took another glance at the man, wondering if he had anything to say in all of this. Couple seconds later she set to ask him but then the machine was alerting her to the completion of another wand weighing exercise. The expected 'Olly Clarke' did show up and it wasn't reading anything strange so the young woman plucked it up and handed it back.
"Here you go, you're all set to enjoy the orientation."

Despite having no idea where Wittlich was, she nodded. It was the thing to do when an answer had been offered. Another nod accompanied it shortly after, a more knowing one once he clarified that it was in Germany. That would explain the 'polizei'. "You're gonna be a Potioneer? Like over in Evironmental Regulation or something?" Lex did not have particularly deep knowledge of any Department but her own. For all she knew, most of them could require Potioneers--except hers. Alexa knew the different jobs within the DMLE and they made her all the more grateful for the YATI position she had while at the same time coveting the title of Auror. Hit witch wasn't bad either but the young woman's mind was already long made up.
Grabbing his wand from the weigher and turning again, she was greeted by a look of utter surprise. Problem was, she couldn't figure why...'least not until his woeful mispronunciation that left her shaking her head lightly. "Not Yeti, that's a creature. What I am is a YATI, Young Auror Training Initiate. I'll be an Auror soon." Though not soon enough. "And I think you mean Stonewall. Jory Stonewall, yeah?" Lex asked as she handed him back his wand. "You're all set."

Oh dear Merlin, he was going to barf.
No desire...fifty yards...annoying little being...ever again.
Oh Merlin, didn't someone have their knickers in a finely coiled knot? Lex didn't hold back the laughter, finding it hard to be anything but amused at the irritation on the man. If he got worked up about something like, imagine what he'd be like when work started and everything was going wrong. She wouldn't even assure him that they likely weren't working in the same Department and would never have need of seeing each other again, oh no, this was far more entertaining--HE was far more entertaining.
The laughter finally subsided at his question but the amused look still danced in her bright hazel eyes. Quite the card he was. "I'm only three and I'll thank you not to be rushing my age along, Sir." Did it bother her that he'd called her immature? Not. Even. He didn't know her, she didn't know him (the latter being the more important to consider). His opinion simply didn't matter. A devilishly wicked grin spread across her lips as he continued on.
A nightmare? Her step-mother called her that frequently. "On the contrary," Lex insisted, the grin going nowhere, "I'm a holy terror." Something he should have thought of before deciding to be quite so anti-social. Now he had all the time in the world to get that sorted while she went back to the machine to collect the other man's wand and hand him his package. Vaguely, she was aware of glare set on his features but they did little to perturb her. Problem was, Alexa Cambridge was provocative by nature. Unless she kept herself in check, she particularly liked being the source of someone's frustration. Always had.
Attention back to him, Lex leaned against the desk once more and regarded him objectively. Sincerity meant all but nothing to her, so long as he suffered through the act and when it was over, the young woman reached across and stuck the glasses back on his face. "It's quite the redundant use of language but you said 'please'." With that she turned and placed his wand in the machine. See? All it took was a little courtesy and they were getting places.

"You're all set."
“Um…” he wasn’t really sure if he could answer that. The Department of Mysteries, where he was going to be working had sent over enough paperwork about secrecy that he felt like h had been signing his life away. “Ja,” He paused, then added. “Something like that. Ja…” He didn’t feel like the first day of work was the best time to test those secrecy spells/charms that were on the papers he had signed his name too.
She was handing his wand back to him and he took it happy to replace it in a pocket inside his leather jacket. He shrugged. It sounded like the same word to him. Again he pondered how odd the English Language was. He had a feeling he was going to have to stock up potion ingredients for headache potions. He could already feel one starting from his brain tying to process, understand, and speak the crazy language. “Ja,” he said pulling the badge out, pinned it to the collar of his black leather jacket. “Stonewaltz.” He picked up the orientation packet and tucked it under his arm. “I hope your day is not this only,” he waved around at the crowds. If it was him, he’d have had a panic attack by now. Thankfully the young lady had done a good job distracting him from the crowds while they waited for his wand to be weighed. “Danke,” he added. “You have most huffly puff…” Yes, Adam had still not learned Hufflepuff was not an synonym for helpful. Jory had already tried to correct him, but all the correction had done was to reinforce the usage of the word. He smiled and passed on through the checkpoint.
It was only as he headed to the lifts, that he realized he hadn’t gotten the young woman’s name….
Greg was about to respond to Amethyst when someone began addressing him rather rudely. He turned to look at her with a frown and then down at the wand that had been in his hand hoping someone would grab it the whole time. Where had that bloke gone that had been there? Whatever. "I do believe that this thing in my hand is a wand and you should learn to be polite to people. Considering it has literally been in my hand the entire time waiting for that other bloke that had been here to take it." Hmph so there miss rude law person. Looked like she was barely out of school anyway.
He looked at Amethyst and smiled, "Want me to grab you some of the lunch before they run out of the good stuff dear?" The last 'dear' slipping out before he could stop but...eh oh well. Wasn't like people wouldn't know sooner or later right?

Amethyst knew that odds were she wasn’t helping the situation, and as it was, she’d continued working on getting the orientation packets handed out to the new employees, or Simon, Alexa and the other MLE workers at the table with her to hand out to the new employees as they got their wands weighed if that was what they’d rather. She still felt rather superfluous at the table, as a matter of fact, but no other Level One employees had shown up to leave a presence here. It was supposed to be both levels working the table after all, just as it wasn’t her fault that Gregory had stopped to talk to her. Or, perhaps it was, but she wasn’t going to admit to it. She shouldn’t have to, just as she shouldn’t have to remind the few people who had decided to get into actual conversations instead of keeping things moving smoothly.
Which only made it that much more interesting when Alexa had suddenly turned her attention to her and Gregory and interrupted the silence between them. “Oh, I hadn’t asked him to linger,” she replied calmly. Everyone was able to do as they wished, as long as the job got done. She’d stayed calm as the altercation continued, too. As he’d reacted rather badly to the reprimand, which had honestly been rather rude although she was withholding a comment on it. Instead, she handed out a couple of packets, letting them straighten it out as they felt like. As long as things didn’t get physical, she was going to just stay out of it. For reasons.
She’d turned to look back at him as he’d addressed her, shaking her head slightly. “No, that’s alright. I think I’ll be able to find something myself whenever we finish up here.” She wasn’t going to comment on his slip either. They’d made enough of a scene already, and she had work to do.

First day at the new job.
Gabriella supposed that she should be nervous, but this Ministry thing was not new to her. Of course nothing could beat the Italians, she was hoping that the British could do at least SOME things right. Honestly, if it wasn't for her half-sister, Gabby probably wouldn't be here right now.
Joining the line, she adjusted her skirt. Of course she was looking as flawless as ever - there was no way she would turn up for work looking like a slob; that was something Lucia was more likely to do. Sighing, she tapped her foot against the floor.
Mammy, Simon, Logan, Lynley, Aron and Simon - and then next available wand weigher :D

Although, she gave in after a second and lightly rested her head upon Leza's shoulder for the time being.
Protection from...what?
"Pfft, in your dreams," she said, lifting her head from Leza's shoulder as she inspected the medallion from the foot or so they were away from it. 'Course she wanted one, but not in front of her boss and especially not when it was attracting unwanted attention. As Leza let go of her hand, she took the short moment to nonchalantly move to Logan's side.
Ahem, "You have more of those, right?"
A shudder ran down her spine from hearing her full name. Oh god. "Please, Boss, just...just Mary is fine, please," she glanced towards the woman next to her with a glare in her eyes. Don't even.
No hand-holding for you, Hazel Ward - light of her life honey muffin angel face.
Huffing quietly, she resisted crossing her arms and pouting, instead taking the moment to glance around to see who else was there... completely forgetting to introduce Leza to her Boss but the redhead had that covered. It wasn't until her proper name was called that she turned back to the conversations in front of her.
Ah, the MLE dude.
"Perhaps," Mammy tilted her head to the side slightly, staring at the man. Have they met? Her brain was too fuzzy from sleep still to remember. She needed COFFEE. "Though you'll have to excuse this one here," she gestured to Logan over her shoulder with her thumb, "Never did have a good grasp on the proper way to make friends. Honestly can't hurt even a fly. I'm sure you'll have tons of fun inspecting that medallion...or, you know, not."
Since there was probably nothing wrong with it and all.

He ran a few quick yet thorough spells on the item in his hand.
Oh look....the woman with the man with the medallions were introducing them. The security man listened and nodded in acknowledgement as he worked on his scans. Hazel....Logan...and Mammy. Simon was figuring the comment about the last was directed at Aron since he himself didn't know the woman. Yep...returning employee the department head confirmed. At least the elder man seemed as skepical about the necklace's power. Defense in the Ministry wasn't needed...by jewelry and he was in no way a fan of items like it.
"I daresy there are better ways to defend yourself," he remarked, handing it back.

Mary. Margaret.

Leza couldn’t help the small smile that crossed her lips at the mention of Boo being inhuman. It wasn’t in the least bit true, but it was at the same time. She was the only one of them who preferred mornings and being up far too early, but that likely had to do with the years she had spent training in the morning… and it would likely come in handy in the future if they ever decided to have children… but for right now the Welsh woman simply rained on their parade in the morning.
Grinning, she looked at the man and nodded. ”She hates Margaret.” BIG GRIN. She was in for it later, but it would so be worth it… especially when she told Boo that some people at the ministry still called their Mammy, Margaret instead of Mary. Hehehehe. Oh, it would be so worth the glares.
Sighing though, Leza hoped that Mammy wasn’t making the situation worse with the man that seemed to need to inspect one of Lo’s medallions. Was it that important? Really? He’d made them in France and had taken them home… honestly. ”Possibly there are, but does it hurt to have something extra for back-up? Especially when it looks pretty?”
If there was one thing that Hazel didn’t like, it was when her friends and family felt like they had to apologise for just being nice. She had some family members who would stare conflict in the face until neither party won and a full day had been lost, but her brother was nothing of the sort. Biting her tongue and holding anything that she wanted to say that would be scathing, Leza decided that it really wasn’t worth her and Logan getting into trouble on their very first day at the Ministry… heck, they hadn’t even weighed their wands in yet. Geez, Lo what are you like? She shot her brother a small, reassuring smile. I got your back.
She took the medallion that Logan gave to her and carefully threaded it onto the side clasp of her bag. There. Wasn’t that pretty? She grinned at Mammy as he handed her a very specific charm and grinned as her wife pocketed it carefully. I sawww that you two. Hehe.
Ha. Sure, you could entertain the thought of taking one… Hazel thought to herself as she watched the brunette woman looking at the medallion from Logan. Seeee, people just didn’t like to be the first person to have something new…. even when it was something awesome and cool. Her eyes slanted slightly - did she need to be rude? Logan didn’t mean anything by it. Hmph. Pride for her brother curled around her tongue, but she simply tightened her grip on Mammy’s hand a little and said nothing. Sorry pumpkin - you’ll get your hand back in a minute… but not yet.
Frowning slightly, Hazel wondered what the man meant about stopping Mammy practising her charms on Logan… Did he think that Logan’s brain was fried? That wasn’t very nice. Urgh. People. She hadn’t had enough coffee for this yet. Resting her head on Mammy’s shoulder, she sighed slightly. ”I need coffee.” She said quietly to Mammy. So much coffee.
Ha. No offense given to you - but offense was taken for Logan and his skills. Regardless of what anyone else said, Hazel was offended. Darn, love sucked at times…. and didn’t she know it. Heh.
Standing up straight again, she looked at the man (Simon) and nodded past him at the lines for weighing their wands. ”Can we go and weigh our wands now, so that we can go through to orientation?” AKA, I need to get coffee and leave this group before I say something stupid while trying to stand up for my brother who is perfectly able to do that himself. Sigh. She smiled at Logan and Mammy and moved forward towards weighing their wands when Simon said that they could go.
Oliver looked around as he entered, nervous. He was always punctual, especially when something as important as this was happening, but his half-brother who was staying with him had been very ill that morning, putting him way behind schedule.
A sigh of relief escaped him as he noticed plenty of people still milling about, waiting. He really needed this job, and while he was positively flattered that he'd been hired by the ministry right out of Hogwarts, he was also exceedingly nervous. The 18-year-old straightened his tie and dusted off his cloak, looking around. Things appeared relatively simple, and well organized. He decided to wait his turn, but the boy was still rather fidgety. Oliver Parks hated being late, and here he was, late to orientation, of all things! This wasn't even the first day, and he was already messing up. He chewed his gum nervously, hoping no one else would notice and tried to calm himself before his turn.
Her lips curled into an amused smirk as she listened to Lex.
"Maybe I'm in the wrong department." Not really. Clearly kidding. "If you arrest this one-" Cue nod to the weird guy (Peri). "-I'll want to come see, yeah?" See him behind bars. Shouting about his rights. That kind of thing. It wasn't too much to ask right?
Taking back her wand – would she have to do that every day now?? – Olly put it away and nodded. "Enjoy, right." Orientation wasn't really her kind of thing. She would've much rather just started working instead. Oh well. "Right. I'll see you around then." She smiled at both Lex and Penelope before moving onto the orientation part of this whole thing.
Deliah shook Archer's hand and said "Nice to meet you Archer, I am Deliah Patton and no i am not new here been working for the ministry for a while now but i have been in St.Mungo's for a long time cause i was really ill but i am completely better now"
Archer nodded and listened to the woman as she spoke. "It's lovely to meet you Miss Patton." He smiled. "I hope to be working here for a while now." Archer didn't plan on leaving anytime soon. He frowned when he heard that she was ill for some time. "I hope you are much better now." He gave her a sweet smile. "Being ill isn't very fun." He didn't like being sick and he didn't like seeing his daughter sick either. It broke his heart when she was sick.

Simon gave a weak shrug. He supposed it could work with other measures if one so desired. To each his own. For him, he had his own ways of keeping safe and aware of any dangers that might develop along the line in his life. And he wasn't trying to give a hard time, at least too much, but they could believe all they want about his intentions and what he had already done to look over the medalions.
And back to the purpose of being here in the atrium and security area. Simon glanced to see if the wand weighers was free and happened to notice a lull as his subordinates were finishing up their own charges complete with helping out the lone Level 1 worker. "Yes...actually," the security man answered, leading them over to the table and himself back to work. "One at a time can I have your wands," he instructed the trio, holding out a hand and letting whoever wanted to go first to take it up with their companions.

Joining the line, she adjusted her skirt. Of course she was looking as flawless as ever - there was no way she would turn up for work looking like a slob; that was something Lucia was more likely to do. Sighing, she tapped her foot against the floor.
Come on, people. She didn't have all day here.
Simon noticed the visible impatience of the next woman on the line but he didn't draw attention to it. He wasn't going to rush doing his job just because someone had no patience in the matter. It was an important task to ensure safety and lack of trouble and the employee, likely new, was going to have to get used to it. Thankfully on a normal day the flux wasn't quite as weighed down. No pun intended.
"Next..." he said, motioning her up to the station. "Hello," Simon greeted to be polite. "Name please," he instructed first so one of the others could find her badge and welcome packet. "I will also need your wand."
Oliver Parks waited patiently in line, awaiting his turn as the worker tended to the other employees, and though he was still somewhat flustered, he had, overall, recovered from his previous panic. The sooner I can get this over with, the sooner I can leave, he reminded himself, getting his wand out just to ensure he was prepared when the time came.

It really was good to be back. ”Here you go,” She said, slotting quickly in front of her wife and her brother. Hehe. The Scottish woman handed the Security man her wand with a smile. ”It’s a rock whitebeam wand, ash handle with gold inlay, dragon heartstring core.” Hazel paused, unsure if there was anything else they needed to confirm that her wand was… well hers. Instead, she gave the man yet another smile and waited.
Lysander's bare eyes narrowed ever so slightly as Lex informed him that she was actually three in age, rather than the five he suggested. What an annoying little person she was. He bit his sharp tongue, however, mentally filing her in the "nemesis" file of his brain as he waited impatiently for her to deem his transparent act as good enough. Luckily for him, it was only moments later that Lex returned his glasses to his outstretched palm, deeming his use of language redundant but accepting it due to his usage of please.
Once he felt the familiar weight of his glasses on his palm, his expression immediately transformed into a sour scowl. He quickly placed the large frames atop his cheekbones, letting out an involuntary sigh of relief as his world turned from that of vague blobs into the clarity he so desired. His green eyes, now exaggerated once more by the thick glass, narrowed viciously as the girl before him returned to sharp definition. Now that he had what he wanted... "You nasty, despicable, difficult, disgruntled little -- " his sharp words were cut off as he realized she still had his wand. Oh dear Merlin, he still had to stand here as she weighed his wand on her own sweet timeline. "GRUUUUURGH," the young man let out a visceral noise in frustration, pacing ever so slightly in front of the counter with impatience.
"Does every person's wand registration take this long, or is it just a special two hour service for me?" he wondered viciously, now clearly perturbed. It was clear that Lysander had very little patience, as he had only really been there for a few minutes at best.

Now wasn't he just the king of compliments? Dude was on a roll for sure and Lex couldn't remove the obviously amused look that had fixed itself into her expression. "You forgot: vindictive, horrid, rude, mean, devious, sickening and my personal favourite 'harsh'." Just so he knew because they were clearly on a game of describe the girl you don't know.
His personal opinion though and there was nothing she could do about that--except mess with him all the more and why not when he made it so easy?
Alexa leaned against the desk, getting into his space again while she waited for the machine to be through.
"Alright, you've got me." She put on her most serious expression she could conjure under the circumstances, ready to further get under her skin. "Just something about you that draws me closer, you know? Absolutely drawn to you. Might. Be. The glasses." She leaned in even closer, flashing him a wide smile that held a hint of spite.
"I'm sure you're used to it by now. Mhm. Reckon I've got myself a big 'ole crush on you." She reached forward to poke lightly at his chest, emphasizing each word as she went on. "I'm sure you fancy me too, what with all those brilliant compliments you've been dishing out. We'll be having lunch on some terrace in France before you know it."
Ah but there was the sound of the machine. Alexa tok her time in spinning to get it and extended it to him with her winning smile. "Enjoy the orientation, Lysander." This one, had been good fun.

Hazel was the first to step forward to him and the wand weigher in front of the other two which was perfectly fine with Simon. "Thank you," he said with a polite nod, accepting the offered wand so he could do what he had to do. The security man inserted the wand in the machine as the Scottish woman proceeded to relay what the wand was made of, the results of the initial scan supporting the report. Further inspection cross-referenced it with the wand registered with her as part of her employee file which made it more secure.
"All set," he assured her as the wand was released, the man taking a ginger hold on the wood and offering back to its rightful owner.
